LEO: Well, it was worth it.
CHLOE: It was. I had fun.
LEO: Yeah, well - I'll call the day a win, then.

Hugo and Nell are playing on the floor, while Kyle is telling Toadie about the threat posed by Mitch and Nelson to both their families. Toadie isn't blaming Levi or Yashvi, but decides they're going to need to keep an eye out. Nell asks 'Uncle Kyle' to come and play, but Toadie says it's Nell and Hugo's bedtime. But Kyle offers to babysit tomorrow, and Toadie agrees.
KYLE: I meant what I said, mate. I won't let anything happen to them.
Melanie comes in. She remarks that she hasn't seen 'hide nor hair' of Toadie or the kids for days, so just wanted to pop by to say hi. Toadie apologises, saying he's been flat out with work. Mel asks if he has time for coffee tomorrow, but he says he has back-to-back meetings.
MELANIE: I didn't see anything in the book - can I help out?
TOADIE: Uh... no, it's a last-minute thing. And it is gonna take a while. Maybe another time?
While Melanie takes the kids to bed to read them a story, Kyle takes Toadie to task.
KYLE: Are you gonna tell me what that awkward conversation was all about?

The next day, Leo has come to pick up Chloe for work. Nicolette comes out of the bedroom, and is surprised to see they're leaving so early; Chloe says they have loads to get done today. Nic asks if Chloe can stay for breakfast, but Leo is keen to hurry things along, saying they need to beat the traffic. However, Chloe overrules him, saying they have time for a quick bite.
David randomly turns up, and Chloe invites him to stay for breakfast too. Leo and David talk aside from the girls, Leo remarking that Chloe and Nic are both obviously morning people. David says it's nice to see them back on track as a couple, but Leo doesn't look so sure. Nicolette gets to work making waffles, but Chloe seems worried about something as she looks at her phone.
Lassiter's Complex
Outside Harold's, Toadie is chatting to Karl and Susan. He admits he could barely look at Melanie when she came round last night, and gave her a 'lame excuse' about working today so as not to meet up. Susan's about to express disapproval, but Toadie says Kyle has already given him a talking-to about it.
TOADIE: I know that I can't keep avoiding her, and I need to talk it through. I just... I dunno what to say. I just need to do it, don't I?
SUSAN: Yes, you do. It's like ripping off a Band-Aid.
KARL: You don't want it to snowball, it could get out of hand. Just look at those two.
Karl points over across the courtyard, to where Jane is trying to persuade Clive to stop ignoring her!
CLIVE: I'm not ignoring you; I just have nothing to say right now.
JANE: I am sorry. I don't know how else I can say it. I should've been honest with you, and Herbert has paid the price.
CLIVE: I know you regret what happened.
JANE: So how long are you gonna keep punishing me?
CLIVE: How long does it take to get over the death of Herbert?
JANE: He was a potted plant!
CLIVE: I raised him from a spore!
Karl is openly laughing at this point, as Toadie looks on in disbelief.
JANE: Clive... I care about you. Doesn't that count for something? Can't we find a way to fix this, mm?
CLIVE: I'm sorry, I just... I need more time.

Kyle is babysitting Nell and Hugo as promised, and demonstrating his 'evil tickling powers'. Melanie calls round, and is surprised to see Kyle babysitting the kids when Toadie knew she was free. Kyle goes quiet, not wanting to reveal what he knows about why Toadie is avoiding Mel. Mel asks Hugo and Nell to play in their room so she can grill Kyle.
MELANIE: You know something, don't you?
KYLE: No!
MELANIE: You do. You know why Toadie's acting like this.
KYLE: I don't want to get involved in your problems.
MELANIE: So there is definitely a problem?
Mel declares she's going to get to the bottom of this.
Harold's Café
Hendrix tells Mackenzie that Leo isn't on social media, and has decided this means he has something to hide. Mackenzie thinks he's worrying about nothing.
MACKENZIE: Some people might think it's weird that you're obsessing over your ex-stepmum's sex life. Just saying.
HENDRIX: I'm just... I'm looking out for Chloe (...) I just don't want her to get blindsided by another dodgy dude in her life.
MACKENZIE: Oh, Hendrix - I think it's sweet that you care so much. But it takes two to cheat. Chloe's with Nicolette, and nothing is going to happen. No matter what Leo wants.
But Hendrix takes this last sentence as evidence that Mackenzie thinks Leo's into Chloe too, and goes back to scouring the internet for evidence of his wrongdoing! Mackenzie sighs.

Toadie comes in, and is surprised to find Melanie lying in wait.
MELANIE: I sent Kyle home after I practically waterboarded him for information (...) Something's wrong, and no-one's telling me what.
TOADIE (awkward): Uh, yeah. Yeah, you're right. Umm... yeah, I should've spoken with you earlier. And for the record, I was actually planning on it, so... You're right. Something has happened. I tried to work my way through it without involving you, and it didn't really work, so... I just started avoiding you instead. It's not particularly mature, I know.
He explains about having seen Mel working at Sonya's Nursery, which triggered memories of Sonya for him.
MELANIE: I can understand how those feelings might sneak up on you. But you have to know that I'm not trying to take Sonya's place.
TOADIE (emotional): I know you're not. But you still are. Cos the closer I'm getting to you, the more I'm pushing Sonya out of my life.
MELANIE: So... where does that leave me, then?
Toadie doesn't have an answer.

Nicolette and David are chatting about how nice it was to have breakfast together, but Nicolette is struggling with how little Chloe is around right now, and a lack of quality time with her. David tells her that Chloe and Leo won't be working this much forever.
Hendrix turns up, looking for Chloe, but David says she got a lift to work with Leo. He remarks on how early it is for them to have left.
HENDRIX: Random thought - I've got to go to work soon. Do you want to come with me? I can drive your car if you sit in the passenger seat.
NICOLETTE: Oh, no. No!
HENDRIX: Why not? I just heard you say you miss Chloe. And there's this thing that we do when we miss somebody - we go see them!
DAVID: Kid's got a point.
NICOLETTE: No, he doesn't, because she's busy.
HENDRIX: So? She can take breaks. Remind her that she has a life outside of work. It'll be romantic - it's a vineyard.
Nicolette agrees to a brief visit, but says they'll have to leave if Chloe's busy.

Toadie is making tea for him and Melanie. She says he didn't need to avoid her, but he says he wanted to get his head straight before raising the issue.
MELANIE: We're a team, Toadie. I need to know what you're thinking, because I'm not Madame Zolga. I've been here before, with Joe.
TOADIE: Yeah. He was a widower too, wasn't he?
MELANIE: Yep. The difference is that Kerry, his wife, was a friend of mine. We used to talk about her often, even with the kids. But because I'd never met Sonya, I was taking my lead from you as to when I should talk about her. You didn't, so... I didn't, either.
TOADIE: ... When Sonya died, I made a promise to keep her memory alive, for me and the kids (...) and I just don't know how to do that and... be with somebody else.
MELANIE: Well, what are you gonna do? Be alone for the rest of your life?
TOADIE: I dunno.
MELANIE: I do. Because I am never gonna take Sonya's place. Just like I never took Kerry's. I don't *want* to. I'm me. Melanie. One of a kind.
TOADIE: Yeah, you are!
MELANIE: And so was Sonya. We can be together *and* honour her memory. You have such a big heart, Toadie. There's room enough for everyone. Trust me.
Leo's Winery
Chloe and Leo continue their borderline-flirtatious office banter. While Chloe is occupied rearranging some wine bottles (!) Leo notices that her phone is buzzing silently on the desk - it's Nicolette calling. He chooses to ignore it and not tell Chloe she's ringing, instead covering up the phone with some paperwork. The banter continues, and Nicolette's name comes up.
LEO: You two seemed pretty good this morning. Are your girl troubles over, or are you just doing the whole 'pretending' thing you keep talking about?
CHLOE: Interesting.
LEO: What?
CHLOE: For someone who claims to want me to have fun, you spend an awful lot of time trying to have D&Ms about my relationship. Lighten up, boss man!
She throws a cloth she's been wiping the wine bottles with at him, and Leo declares that this is war, before getting up to chase her out of the room!
At this point, Nicolette and Hendrix pull up in the car outside. Nicolette is impressed at the sight of the winery, and asks Hendrix if he thinks it's rude they're turning up without warning. Hendrix reminds her that she's been trying to ring Chloe to tell her, but to no avail.
HENDRIX: Chloe's going to be so happy to see you.
Back indoors, Leo prepares to fling a wet cloth at Chloe across the bar. However, as he chases her back into the office, the wet cloth hits Nicolette instead as she walks in. Chloe's surprised to see Nic, and realises she doesn't know where her phone is when she learns Nic's been calling. Hendrix explains he thought Nic would like to see the winery. Chloe takes her on a grand tour.
HENDRIX (to Leo): Hope you don't mind us turning up like this. Nicolette said how much she missed Chloe, and I made it happen.
Leo says it's fine, but is clearly a bit annoyed. Hendrix eyes him with suspicion.
Sonya's Nursery
Toadie and Melanie are working a shift, and have been blending up a concoction in the juicer.
MELANIE: Tastes like lawn clippings!
TOADIE: Actually, there was one time where Sonya did use grass cos she got it mixed up with some microgreens.
Toadie thanks Melanie for having made things so easy, and they hug. Susan and Karl arrive, pleased to see that Toadie and Mel are back on track.
MELANIE: We found a way forward.
TOADIE: Yeah. Unlike that bloke.
Toadie points over to where Clive has turned up, and is dolefully looking at a fern! Melanie reminds Toadie of the time that Jane and Clive helped them clear a relationship hurdle, and suggests that they now do the same in return...
Leo's Winery
Hendrix and Leo are in the office when Chloe and Nicolette return from their tour. Hendrix has found Chloe's phone on the desk, and hands it to her. Leo tells Chloe they need to go and meet some promo people about the apron supply. Hendrix objects that there's still loads for Nic to see, but Leo tersely tells him that some of them have to work. He and Chloe leave.
HENDRIX: Hey, why don't I finish the tour? By the time we're done, their meeting will be over, and you guys can hang out some more.
NICOLETTE: I can't take up all of Chlo's time.
HENDRIX: Come on, you saw how bummed she was to leave. I bet she would love it.
NICOLETTE: ... Okay, but just a little bit longer.
Sonya's Nursery
Clive is chatting to Toadie next to the ferns!
CLIVE (mournfully): Some mornings, I find myself in the living room with a spritz bottle in hand, just on autopilot.
TOADIE: Well, you looked after Herbert for years, so, you know, umm... some habits are hard to break.
CLIVE: He was just a plant. I mean, it is stupid for me to get so worked up.
TOADIE: No. Something you love died, and that's not stupid. I'm just wondering what the endgame is here, though - you know, with Jane. Cos you just can't keep avoiding her forever.
Toadie suggests that one way or the other, Clive needs to do something, whether it's to walk away, or forgive Jane for killing Herbert.
Leo's Winery
Hendrix has come up with a new idea to keep Nicolette around for the day - a picnic. He offers to make some snacks for Nicolette and Chloe so that they can 'chill outside and enjoy the view'.
NICOLETTE: You're going to quite a lot of effort for me today.
HENDRIX: You and Chloe, mm. I like to see her happy. She deserves it.
Nicolette agrees to the idea, so Hendrix tells her to go and pick a picnic spot outside, while he prepares the food.
Sonya's Nursery
Toadie's still with Clive, when Melanie peeps around the corner and gives Toadie a signal. He leads Clive over to where Melanie is standing - and Jane appears, Melanie presumably having summoned her. Clive and Jane smile at one another, and talk, while Toadie and Mel watch.
JANE: I know that you are hurting, and that there is nothing that I can say or do, or buy, that will fix things (...) If I could go back and change things, I would. But I can't. All that there is now is to... to move on. I miss you. SO much. Do you think that you might want to move on, too?
CLIVE: ... I do. I've missed you too.
They hug, and Toadie and Mel applaud.
MELANIE: I still think she should've gone with a plant pun.
TOADIE: What, like, 'We're 'mint' to be together'?
Mel and Toadie hug, delighted at their matchmaking skills.
Leo's Winery
Nicolette is walking through the vineyard in search of the perfect picnic spot. She randomly seems to get lost and starts calling out for Hendrix - but to no avail. Nicolette slips and falls over, then starts to experience abdominal pain, clutching at her baby bump. She takes her phone from her bag, but of course, the battery is flat. Nicolette groans and breathes heavily.
NICOLETTE (shouting hoarsely): Help! Chloe!
