No.24
Chloe offers Nicolette refreshments after her big day. Nicolette is happy for refreshments as she is never not hungry whilst pregnant! Chloe isn't under pressure with the amount of work she has to do today. They decide to make the most of their time when Jane comes out of the bedroom. Nicolette tells her that all was well at the scan.
NICOLETTE: She's the size of a coconut.
JANE: Enjoy it whilst you can. You won't be so having so much fun when she's a watermelon!
Nicolette tries to encourage Jane to go out to get ready for school next week. Jane needs to find a diffuser and essential oils. Chloe wonders why they're needed, Nicolette wants her to find them as quickly as possible! Nicolette locates them in the kitchen plus Jane's bag. She ushers Jane out of the house. Nicolette and Chloe head into the bedroom. Nicolette sticks her tongue out at Nell Mangel's portrait!
Erinsborough High
Jane is getting the diffuser ready. Susan arrives and likes it. Jane explains she's setting it up in advance. Jane tells Susan the idea was in the Y13 handbook, Susan readily agrees! Jane already has some ideas she plans to use including Mind, Body and Spirit. Jane is surprised that Curtis isn't here himself, Susan explains he is attending a Community Support Meeting. Susan tells Jane about Curtis setting Brent and Hendrix a task. They need to design a product and follow it through to the marketing and manufacturing stage. Jane is surprised as she can't recall it from the curriculum. Susan explains it is an activity that is extra-curricular. Jane is more wary of Brent and Hendrix working on this. Susan confirms that Curtis has found this way for them to do this together.
SUSAN: I think he might be a bit of a miracle worker!
No.32
David and Aaron come inside from the backyard. David isn't impressed the place is still a tip. Aaron agrees and is surprised Emmett answered back. David thinks Emmett and Brent are both now broken. Aaron thinks they can still work on this. David doesn't want to call it quits but thinks they should try another way, Aaron agrees.
Aaron calls Brent and Emmett into the room. Brent isn't keen to hear another lecture. David admits he wants to apologise. He admits to being harsh earlier.
AARON: We want you here mate... You shouldn't feel like you're always on probation all the time.
David and Aaron will make allowances for their mistakes, families deal with these situations. David and Aaron invite them to share confidences but Brent and Emmett can't think of any.
Erinsborough High
Jane admits to Curtis she isn't thrilled about the vocational project he has started. He has taken over the programme instead of looking after things. Curtis tells her he didn't mean to do that. Jane tells him that it's not possible to include more activities as Y13 is planned already. His project won't make a difference to the marks Brent and Hendrix will receive. Curtis is keen for it to work as it's brilliant for them. Jane thinks they need to work out a fine line between work and play. Jane thought he was on board with her way of thinking. Jane is determined to keep doing things her way so his project can't go ahead. Curtis points out that Brent and Hendrix are really getting into this and are working on production. Jane doesn't think he should have let things get this far.
No.32 Backyard
Brent and Emmett are sitting on the roof. Brent reminds Emmett to be careful after what happened before. Emmett comments on Brent being so agreeable.
BRENT: I just want them off my back.
He thinks David and Aaron will feel less guilty about making them leave if they've done things the right way. Brent teases Emmett about his crush on Roxy, Emmett is just playing along. Emmett lets Brent know that he's playing Roxy as she's got a lead on Holden. Roxy then thought Emmett was interested in her.
BRENT: We don't need foster parents or agencies. We can live by ourselves.
EMMETT: We are gonna need money.
Emmett admits to giving the money from the lawn mowing job to Holden to stop him giving him a hard time. Brent realises this is why Holden hasn't contacted him and promises to sort things out. He promises they'll be out of here once they've got the money.
Erinsborough High
Hendrix is dropping some things off for Susan. Jane shows him what she's got planned when they return to school. She's planning a mood board for them to set everything out. Hendrix wonders if it's connected to the project on the balance boards. Hendrix is stunned to discover the project isn't going ahead right now. Curtis explains there was a misunderstanding. Hendrix wants to carry on. Jane promises she's got many ideas planned. Hendrix feigns enthusiasm and quickly leaves.
No.24
Nicolette and Chloe come out of the bedroom feeling hungry. Aaron and David arrive and want to chat about the appointment. Nicolette apologises again. Aaron is more understanding and apologises for the way he behaved earlier. They have been through quite a bit in the last 24 hours.
AARON: We're going to be parenting experts by the time our daughter gets to be a teenager.
David understands Nicolette was trying to take some of the pressure off but they want to prioritise the baby. In the future they promise to find a way to be there. Chloe notes they are a lot less stressed. David and Aaron agree that they've worked things out with Brent and Emmett. They promise to manage both of them plus the baby.
The Waterhole
Curtis is sitting with Brent and Emmett. Curtis apologises to Brent for going back on what he originally planned. Brent doesn't seem too bothered. Curtis explains that Jane had it planned out and this didn't tie in with the plan. Curtis suggests trying again at a later stage in Y13.
BRENT: You never know what can happen.
Mackenzie is enthusing to Hendrix about a mood board being beneficial. Mackenzie also offers help if he needs it. Hendrix calls Curtis over from the bar. He asks when it's possible to restart the project. Curtis tells him that is for Jane to decide. Hendrix doesn't think her other ideas are so great! Curtis reminds him that he's not in charge. Hendrix offers to go to Susan, Curtis tries to talk him out of it. Hendrix still plans to do this. Hendrix wants to move the power tools to The Hive before the day is over. Curtis doesn't want to rush but Hendrix is confident he'll get his way.
Hendrix wants to enlist Brent's help to move the power tools. Brent is stunned as Curtis has scrapped the plan. Hendrix is confident he'll talk Susan round. Brent isn't keen to do this during the holidays, Hendrix thinks he's being lax and heads off. Emmett thinks that Brent should have told Hendrix a definite no. Brent thinks that Aaron and David would be onto him if he did just that so he just wants to stay low.
No.24
What Aaron and David are doing for Brent and Emmett is on Nicolette's mind. Chloe agrees that others would not be as committed, she knows they'll work this out.
NICOLETTE: You can read my mind.
CHLOE: You're not exactly a poker player.
Nicolette thinks it will be hard with a baby as well. Chloe points out that David and Aaron are prepared for this, Nicolette hopes this is the case.
Erinsborough High
Hendrix is putting his case to Susan. Susan tells him that it was Jane's decision. Hendrix admits that school hasn't been so bad after all since he returned. These projects help him be enthusiastic. Hendrix asks Susan to convince Jane to reconsider. Susan agrees to tell Jane how Hendrix is feeling.
Susan comes into the classroom where Curtis is. Curtis admits that Brent was also disappointed. Susan knows Curtis is passionate and caring but wants to check he's not just using this as a way to start off his own things. Curtis explains he tried to deter Hendrix but he refused to be deterred.
SUSAN: Hendrix has never been backward in coming forward.
Curtis doesn't want to go against Jane but doesn't think it's fair and is rushed. Susan had also given the go ahead. Susan understood Jane's feelings. Curtis realises Susan understands Hendrix's feelings as well. Susan admits the project has so much going for it. Curtis thinks it is right for the project to still go ahead. Susan agrees and allows the project to go ahead. She lets Curtis talk to Brent and Hendrix, she will talk to Jane.
The Hive
David and Aaron arrive and are impressed that Brent is helping Hendrix out. Brent isn't fazed by this. David and Aaron tell him everything has been sorted out and can now move on. Curtis is getting things out of his car as Brent moves things into another room. David tells him that he's dealt with Paul as well. Brent is fine and wants to move forward. David and Aaron are impressed with the tools which have been donated by the hardware store. Brent offers to help out over the holidays as well. Brent looks at the tools.
David and Aaron leave. They admit to each other they're doing well as parents.
No.24
Chloe realises that Nicolette is still worried.
CHLOE: It's been a while since I've been with a woman. Whole side of me is coming alive again.
NICOLETTE: Maybe you're just happy.
Chloe admits that it's something she's getting to after everything going on. Chloe thinks that things are simple even though Nicolette is expecting David and Aaron's baby. They head off to have a shower together.
The Waterhole
Curtis hopes that he's not too late as he joins Jane.
JANE: That's the least of my frustrations.
Jane has heard from Susan about the project. Jane isn't impressed that Curtis spoke to Susan over her. Curtis tells her that Hendrix spoke to Susan first and then she spoke to Curtis.
CURTIS: I felt compelled to defend what I believe is the best thing for our students.
Jane is defensive over the fact that he doesn't think she's doing the same thing. Curtis knows that Jane believes that but not seeing that Brent and Hendrix are really engaged over this. Jane tells him that Y13 helps them to grow and help them with what held them back before. Also get them ready for going into the world.
CURTIS: We're talking about 18 year olds. Young adults who are sick of classrooms.
Jane reminds him that she's been working to overcome that. Curtis wants Brent and Hendrix to bring out the best in themselves.
JANE: So do I. Only I'm the one in charge!
CURTIS: Susan's made the call. The project is going ahead.
No.32
Brent agrees to sort out the salad whilst David and Aaron sort out the barbecue.
BRENT: So fake. Pretending like we're all a happy family.
EMMETT: We're kinda doing the same thing.
BRENT: They didn't give us any other option.
Emmett wonders how they will come up with the money needed so they can leave. Brent tells Emmett to leave it to him. Brent reminds him they've got to keep under the radar, Emmett agrees and heads outside. Brent calls someone and tells them that he might have a potential job they could be interested in. He will share more information if Brent and Emmett get a decent amount of money out of it.
No.28
Curtis is telling Susan about his ideas for the project. Susan is impressed when Jane arrives. Susan explains they were discussing the balance board project. Jane wants to be involved in these Y13 discussions. Susan had wanted to know about the safety side and they carried on talking. She does apologise for not involving Jane. There is an awkward silence.
JANE: I'm very unhappy about the way things have been handled.
This was done whilst she was away and Susan has made the decision over her head. Susan explains that Hendrix explained everything and she was convinced that it was right for the project to commence. Jane is not impressed that the students are getting to decide these things. Curtis explains that the students have a voice. Jane wants the project scrapped and stay with the original programme. Susan doesn't want to give up the project after all the effort that has been put into it. Susan thinks there is room for everything that Jane wants to implement as well. Jane won't stand down and tells Susan she has to make a choice.
JANE: It is either him or it is me.
