Harold's Café
Susan and Karl are at a table with Chloe. Susan gets a call from Levi on her mobile, but she ignores it, saying she'll call him back later - as the Kennedys are having an important chat with Chloe about Hendrix.
CHLOE: I just wish I knew what I could do to help Hendrix. I hate seeing him so down on himself. I was always more of a friend to him, rather than a parent. And like he says, I'm technically not even his stepmother anymore.
KARL: Well, you can't just flip a switch and stop worrying about him.
CHLOE: I've been thinking about taking a trip to Adelaide, but I don't think I can leave him like this.
Susan and Karl exchange a 'we know best' glance.
CHLOE: You don't agree?
SUSAN: Well, you've got a new nephew to meet. Besides, Hendrix doesn't need hand-holding right now. He needs to recalibrate his life. It just might take him some time to come to terms with that.
CHLOE: He's so upset about his break-up with Harlow. I'm scared it's gonna send him off the rails.
KARL: Well, we're here to make sure it doesn't.
SUSAN: You're juggling a lot, Chloe. Some time out might be good.
Levi is now trying to call Karl, and he answers it.
KARL: Hang on, hang on - slow down. Where are you?
Erinsborough Hospital
Levi is waiting anxiously at reception when Susan and Karl rush in. He says no-one's telling him what's going on, so Karl goes to chase up Bea's medical team. Levi tells Susan that the doctors don't think the problem is related to Bea's heart arrhythmia, and explains what happened with Bea feeling sick earlier in the day and having to go home.
SUSAN: Did she eat something while you were out?
LEVI: No, no - she said that she had lunch before we went.
Karl returns.
KARL: Unfortunately, they don't have a clear idea of what's going on. But Bea's major organs are shutting down, and they don't know why.
Susan and Levi look worried.

Nicolette, Jane, David and Aaron are chatting on the patio. Nicolette is reporting to all of them how her meeting with Jane's lawyer went. Nic's unlikely to have any legal problems from the gambling ring, she reveals, as she herself didn't break any laws. As for the theft of the lottery ticket, the lawyer thinks she can get her off on a good behaviour bond.
AARON: So what about the civil suit Ricardo's got over you?
NICOLETTE: We're going on the offence. She thinks he'll drop the suit if we slap him with one of our own.
DAVID: So you're gonna countersue him?
NICOLETTE: Sexual harassment. Those text messages he sent me make it pretty clear he's trying to coerce me to have sex with him.
AARON: Yeah, right. Take no prisoners, Nic - I like it.
Nicolette says she's feeling tired and goes to lie down. Aaron asks Jane if Nic's alright; Jane explains she's a bit out of sorts after speaking to Chloe about working out the tension between them. Jane thinks it might not have gone well.
David gets a phone call from Karl, telling him about Bea's organ failure. He rushes off to the hospital to help.
Erinsborough Pavilion
Kyle and Roxy are drinking champagne. Roxy tells Kyle she's rearranged her work shift for today, so they can head off for a 'cheeky getaway' for the night. Kyle wants to know where they're headed, but Roxy says it's a surprise.
Lassiter's Complex
Jane has brought Nicolette out for a meal at Harold's; as they arrive there, they run into Chloe. Chloe acknowledges Jane, but says nothing to Nicolette, and goes on her way.
JANE: I take it working things out didn't go so well.
NICOLETTE: She said she thought Pierce might've been right about me being an untrustworthy, selfish piece of garbage.
JANE: She's upset. It's all still raw. I honestly believe if you just let the dust settle, hm?
NICOLETTE: Mum, if that's what she thinks of me, then space isn't gonna change her mind.
JANE: People say things in anger that they don't always mean.
NICOLETTE: And anger can sometimes rip off rose-coloured glasses.
JANE: She's wrong, Nicolette, and you know that. You've done all that you can to make amends, and that is the true mark of a person.
But Nicolette is unreassured, and says she's going for a walk on her own. Jane looks worried as she leaves.
Erinsborough Hospital
Karl and David emerge to update Levi and Susan on Bea's situation; it's amatoxin poisoning, from death cap mushrooms.
DAVID: There's also been another case in the area recently.
SUSAN: How could Bea have eaten death cap mushrooms?!
Susan says that at least they know what they're treating now; but David and Karl look awkward, and David goes to find Sheila to update her, leaving Karl to explain to Levi and Susan.
LEVI: So what happens now, Doc? Like, what's the procedure? Do they pump Bea's stomach? Is there a treatment?
KARL: Well, there's no antidote for this toxin. We'll start an aggressive hydration treatment, try and flush it out of her system (...) Every patient reacts differently. The treatment only works if it's initiated early enough.
LEVI: But what does this mean for Bea?
KARL: Well, the trouble is, we don't know how long the poison's been in her system. And if the treatment is starting late, then...
LEVI: Then what?
KARL: There's nothing more we can do.
SUSAN: What are you saying?
KARL (gravely): It could be a week or two.
Susan and Levi do their shocked faces.
No 32
Chloe, Jane and Nicolette look worried, while Aaron gets the latest update on Bea on the phone from David. After he's finished, Aaron explains to them all about Bea and the death cap mushrooms. Nicolette rather bluntly says that if the treatment doesn't work, she'll die. Jane gives her a look.
Aaron asks Chloe if she's booked her trip to Adelaide; she says she'd made her mind up to go, but is now thinking she should wait to see if Bea's okay. Nicolette says they can keep Chloe updated, but she ignores that, and says she'll wait and see if there's better news in the morning. She goes to call Mark to let him know. Upset by Chloe's coldness towards her, Nicolette goes to bed.
Jane explains to Aaron that Nicolette said she'd had a run-in with Chloe earlier, and that Nic's taken it to heart. Aaron's worried about the stress it's causing her, as it can't be good for her or the baby.
JANE: Maybe you could talk to Chloe.
AARON: I tried. I think we just have to let them sort it out on their own.
JANE: I told Nicolette to just let Chloe be, but there must be some way that we could help ease the tension.
Aaron isn't convinced. He says David came round with Nic when he was given some space to do so; maybe Chloe will be the same.

The following morning, Kyle and Roxy are back from their getaway, and wishing they'd stayed longer. Kyle flirtatiously says it's not too late to go back, and they're about to pash, when Sheila comes out of the bedroom, demanding to know why they haven't been answering their phones. Kyle says their batteries died and they couldn't be bothered charging them.
Sheila explains Bea's in hospital, and that she's just here to fetch some clean clothes for Levi, who's been with her all night.
ROXY: Why, because of gastro?
SHEILA: No, she's been poisoned! Death cap mushrooms, they reckon (...) The treatment might work, it might not.
Sheila heads out to the hospital, telling them they should follow as soon as they can. Once she's gone...
ROXY: It's the pies.
KYLE: It has to be.
No 28
Kyle searches the bins in the Kennedys' garden. Roxy emerges from the house, having let herself in with the spare key. She's found the two remaining pies in the freezer, and they realise that Ned must have given them to Bea, rather than throwing them away as they'd assumed. Sure enough, Kyle finds the foil packaging of Bea's pie in the bin.
ROXY: What have I done?
KYLE: Okay, we have to get to the hospital and tell them.
Kyle says they should bring the pies and get rid of them on the way.
No 32
Chloe finds Nicolette crying in the garden, while reading a letter. Chloe hesitates, before approaching.
CHLOE: Are you okay?
NICOLETTE (tearful): My nursing career's over. Officially. I've been deregistered. I mean, I knew it was coming. It's not like I'm surprised, but -
CHLOE: It's still a big thing to happen. You're allowed to be upset.
NICOLETTE: I loved my job. Even the horrible parts - the crappy hours, the vomit. Now I sound like a psycho.
CHLOE: No, I get it.
NICOLETTE: I've only got myself to blame. Which just sucks. I'm one hundred percent responsible for this, and... I was just kind of hoping for a miracle. Holding out that they'd give me another chance, but... I'm a wrecker. I've ruined things. I'm such an idiot.
CHLOE: I'll get you some water.
Erinsborough Hospital
Levi is pacing around outside the hospital when Kyle and Roxy arrive; he's in a bit of a state, but thanks them for coming, and says Bea hasn't woken up yet. He explains about the mushrooms, and Kyle's just saying he's sorry, when Sheila comes out to join them.
SHEILA: I've spoken to Karl (...) She's stable, and so far, no damage to her liver.
LEVI: So, she's gonna be okay?
SHEILA: Well, it sounds good to me. But it's far too early to tell if there's been damage to the other organs.
LEVI: So we keep hoping, then, yeah? I just wish I knew where she could've got those death cap mushrooms from.
SHEILA: Look, it's no good wasting energy on questions we don't have answers to. We'll find out what's happened when Bea wakes up.
Kyle and Roxy exchange a guilty glance, but say nothing. Sheila tells Kyle and Roxy to go and sit with Bea, while Sheila takes Levi to the Caféteria to get some food.
KYLE: I really need to talk to Levi.
SHEILA: It can wait. (To Levi) And you're not gonna be any help to Bea if you're collapsing, right? Roxy and Kyle can sit with her, and she couldn't be in safer hands.
As Sheila leads Levi away, Roxy and Kyle look upset.
Shortly afterwards, Kyle and Roxy are by Bea's bedside; she's still unconscious.
KYLE: As soon as they come back, we tell them. Rox, we have to.
But at that point, Bea starts to wake up. Kyle rushes to get a nurse, as an emotional Roxy assures a confused Bea, 'it's okay'.
BEA: What happened?
ROXY (tearful): I'm so sorry. This is all my fault. I didn't mean to. I poisoned you - with mushrooms. I didn't know they were poisonous. I put them in the gravy at the tram, and I didn't know you were gonna take one, and I didn't know that Toadie was gonna take them. And they were in the pies!
BEA: Slow down. What?
ROXY: I was just so terrified. I was terrified that I was gonna ruin Kyle's business, and Gary's legacy, and that's why I didn't say anything. I put your life at risk, and there's no excuse for that. And I'm so sorry.
Bea still looks confused as she processes all this.
No 32
Nicolette is ignoring a barrage of messages on her phone; when Chloe looks at it, she realises they're all from Ricardo. She reads one.
CHLOE: This is disgusting!
NICOLETTE: You say that like I'd be surprised.
CHLOE: I didn't realise it was this bad.
NICOLETTE: Oh, yeah, just another day in the office. He's not happy he's gonna have to drop the civil suit against me.
CHLOE: You can say that again. Why haven't you blocked this scum-sucker?
NICOLETTE: My lawyer told me not to, in case we need to use the messages against him in court.
CHLOE: So, what, if the suit gets dropped, then what? He just gets away with this?
NICOLETTE: Well, it's not like I'm responding. I'm not giving him oxygen.
Chloe looks thoughtful.
Erinsborough Hospital
Levi, Karl and Susan have joined Bea in the hospital room; she says she feels okay, albeit like she's been 'hit by a truck'. Karl tells her she's very dehydrated, so they're forcing fluids into her as fast as they can. Sheila is listening at the door.
BEA: So, what's gonna happen now? Am I gonna be okay?
KARL: Well, your liver numbers are right, so that's very promising (...) We'll have to check renal function again, but it's heading in the right direction. Almost out of the woods.
Outside the hospital, Roxy tells Kyle that everyone will learn the truth now she's told Bea what happened. Kyle wishes he could've been the one to tell Levi.
KYLE: He and Gran are gonna lose it. And the Kennedys.
Indoors, Levi and Susan are keen to hear how Bea managed to ingest death cap mushrooms.
BEA: Well, you guys are not gonna believe this. It's kind of a crazy story.
Outdoors, Sheila emerges to tell Kyle and Roxy that Bea is out of the woods. Roxy's about to ask Sheila if Bea has told her what happened, when Levi rushes out, having heard Bea's story.
LEVI: It's the weirdest thing! Bea found the mushrooms growing on Ramsay Street. She didn't even check to see if they were safe. She just assumed they were edible.
Kyle and Roxy look confused, as Sheila says someone should head back to the street and find out if there are any more.
LEVI: She feels bad for what she's put us all through, poor thing (...) But look, guys, she's gonna be okay, yeah? And that's all I care about.
A bewildered Kyle manages half a smile.

Jane is hanging out washing in the garden, when she hears a clinking sound nearby. She glances around the garden, seemingly getting the feeling she's being watched. She dismisses the thought and carries on putting out the washing, but then hears the noise again.
JANE: Hello? Hello?
Then she leaps out of her skin, as Ned emerges from between the washing.
NED: Hi, Jane. Ooh, sorry, didn't mean to scare you!
JANE: How long have you been there?
NED: I just came round from the front. I knocked, but nobody answered.
Ned says he's looking for David; he wanted to get an update on Bea's condition. Jane says he's inside having a rest, and invites Ned to go in and see if he's awake. Jane glances around the garden again, before following Ned indoors.
Erinsborough Hospital
A relieved Levi tells Bea their relationship has 'gone to the next level' with her near-death experience.
BEA: Yeah, what about the embarrassing sounds I was making with my stomach gurgling?
LEVI: Babe, that was my favourite part!
They both laugh. Kyle and Roxy come in, and Bea gets rid of Levi by asking him to fetch her a lemonade. He heads out of the room, telling Kyle and Roxy to take care of Bea.
ROXY: Bea, what I told you before - I didn't mean for you to take the blame.
KYLE: Yeah, and I'm not gonna let you.
ROXY: This is my fault.
KYLE: It's *our* fault. We could've killed you, Bea.
BEA: Yeah, but you didn't. And what are you gonna achieve by making a big confession?
ROXY: It's the right thing to do. We have to take responsibility.
BEA: It will be the end of the tram.
KYLE: Yeah, well, I'll have to wear that.
BEA: And how's Sheila gonna cope with that?
Roxy says this is worth considering, and tells Kyle she'll follow his lead.
BEA: This is Gary's legacy, and I know how much it means to you and your family, and how much it means to me. Your dad lost his life saving mine.
KYLE: Yeah, so isn't that even more reason for me not to be so gutless?
BEA: No, Kyle. I'm not gonna let you wreck things for yourself. I'm the one who got sick, so I'm the one that's gonna make the decision. I want to do this for you.
Roxy and Kyle still look uncertain.
No 26
Back at home, Kyle and Roxy both feel very uncomfortable about 'taking the easy way out' and letting Bea carry the can for her poisoning.
ROXY: But Bea's got a point. Like you said in the first place, what good will it do if the tram shuts down? Sheila will be devastated.
KYLE: She'd be more devastated if Bea carked it.
ROXY: Luckily she didn't, she's okay. So why hit your family with more pain?
KYLE: Because I feel like if I don't confess, I'm just being a coward.
ROXY: I understand that. I feel the same way. But now we know what Bea wants. It's not like you forced her to make the decision. And this is not your fault in the first place; this is all on me.
KYLE: You made one mistake.
ROXY: Yeah, and I would confess in a second, if you and your family weren't the ones who'd pay for the mistake I made.
KYLE: Okay. I guess if it's what Bea wants...
ROXY: Yeah. She deserves to make the decision; we owe it to her. It's still our secret to keep, no matter how rubbish it makes us feel.
No 32
Aaron and David are on the sofa, while Jane sits by the counter nearby. In the kitchen, Chloe takes an opportunity to talk to Nicolette.
CHLOE: I just wanted to say I had no idea you were copping that much abuse from Ricardo.
NICOLETTE: Yeah, it's bad.
CHLOE: I guess it's just making me see things in a different light.
Jane and Aaron exchange a hopeful glance as they hear this.
CHLOE: I'm not saying it excuses what happened with Hendrix. You should've come to me, and told me what was going on.
NICOLETTE: I know. I'm sorry.
CHLOE: But it helps to see where you were coming from, and how much pressure you were under.
NICOLETTE: Thank you. That means so much.
Chloe heads outside, while Nicolette goes to her room. Aaron, David and Jane gather on the couch, pleased that the girls have worked out their differences.
DAVID: I'd say our biggest concern is Ricardo. From the sound of those text messages, he's really got it out for her. Who's to say it's not gonna escalate?
JANE: You know, it's really got me on edge. Just before Ned arrived, I was out there hanging out the washing, and I had a distinct feeling that I was being watched. Of course, there was no-one there. It was just... just my mind playing tricks on me.
We cut to the garden, from the perspective of the Doug Out, where we can hear fast, perhaps laboured breathing. The shed door clinks shut, and we see a shadow of a person on the wall inside...
