- Ned being given an opportunity... to go along to a fight club with no rules and no holding back.
- Ned fighting the guy that suggested he come along... and punching his lights out!
Number 22
Ned is back from the fight club venue and is in a bit of pain... and his torso shows signs of bruising too.
(Next day)
Prue is concerned at the radio silence from Gary after their date. Harlow suggests that perhaps Gary doesn't want to get too attached, given he doesn't know how long she is going to be around for. While Prue agrees with her daughter that she does live for the moment, and is here to see Harlow, the silence from him is bothering her.
Prue heads upstairs to freshen up (she's treating Harlow to a mother daughter mega pampering session) and trades places with Ned who is getting ready to head back to work. Harlow comments on how happy he looks as she pours him a coffee and he confirms that for the first time in a while, he is totally clear headed and so ready for the day!
Number 28
Susan is the one to break it to her husband that Pierce won't be up for a bike trip to France given how close the wedding is. There is an initial discomfort until Elly confirms that she knows about the wedding and is okay about it although makes it clear she isn't getting involved. Bea gives her a plus of being unemployed - having all the time in the world to pick a suitable wedding outfit... however Elly points out she she's skint, won't be getting maternity leave and will have trouble getting a new job once they hear she got fired! Finn suggests she does private tutoring via a private company, which she thinks is a great idea although Susan doesn't look to happy to confirm that she will give her niece a reference!
Number 26
Gary sarcastically thanks his mum for the cold shower he's had to endure so she can be clean for Clive! (As a side note, Sheila also admits that she deserved getting covered in poo from Beverly!) She isn't too despondent, to hear that things have cooled off between Gary and Prue although wishes that he could find someone to share what she has with Clive.
Just at that, Harlow pops round to have a private chat with Gary about her mum. The lass admits that it wasn't her place to interfere and to block him from seeing her mum.
HARLOW: Look, my mum lives in the moment and maybe you're her moment.
And she then suggests that Gary asks Prue out on another date.
Lassiters Complex
As they sit outside Harold's, Bea admits to Yashvi that she is surprised to see Ned head back to work already and thinks their night walks must be doing him some good although Yashvi has heard otherwise. Yashvi is reluctant to head over and see how he is doing, so Bea volunteers to be the one to go over and chat.
Number 22
Prue is somewhat surprised to see Gary on the doorstep but after inviting him in, he apologises for going cold on her at the tram as he "got spooked" and suggests going on a date that afternoon, which Prue readily agrees to.
Gary leaves because Prue's phone is ringing and when she answers it's not a happy call - it's The Order calling demanding that she pays what is owed! She replies that she hasn't the money and begs not to be kicked out of The Order!
(Later)
Commercial break later and Prue is reciting some chat from The Order's book but hurriedly hides it when Harlow comes down the stairs. The lass seems happy to hear that her mum is going on a date with Gary later on. Given the call pre-break, Prue tries to talk Harlow out of going for their spa date (so she can get a refund) but the lass is keen to give it a go and nothing Prue says is going to make Harlow change her mind.
The Waterhole
Sheila thinks that Prue is in for food, but she is actually after a job (cash in hand since she hasn't a work visa). However, given the place is dead, there is no job plus given Prue doesn't have a visa, that is another reason why Sheila rejects her.
Number 28
Elly comes off the phone from talking to a tutorial company with bad news - she's not got the job because "my referee let me down"
ELLY: Apparently, she wasn't exactly singing my praises.
Finn tries to reassure Elly that there must be some sort of misunderstanding, but Elly is more curious why Susan said she'd vouch for her but obviously never followed through with it.
The Waterhole
Bea is more than happy to spend her dollars in the pub helping to support the quiet business, plus it gets rid of Sheila for a while (she's off getting the order ready), to allow her to chat with the newly arrived Ned. She is trying to come up with a new tactic to help Ned since she's heard his nightmares are still happening. Someone has been taking a keen interest in their chat - Prue, who interrupts to offer him her life coaching experience. Ned rejects both offers since he slept soundly last night, so thinks he's turned a corner, but promises to let them both know if the situation changes.
After Ned heads off, Prue describes him as being a "five" and tells the puzzled Bea to "let him find his own way!"
Number 28
Susan (and Karl) are barely through the door when Elly confronts her aunt over the bad reference. "What did you say to them?" Elly demands to know, and Susan openly replies that while she tried to give them all the positive things about Elly, they kept demanding to know why she was let go.
ELLY: You told them that you fired me?!
SUSAN: They had already heard rumours, I couldn't lie.
Susan does add though that she kept it very vague, citing protocol wasn't followed. Nothing Susan says is getting through, Elly just knows she isn't going to get another teaching job "if the fact I got fired keeps coming up."
SUSAN: Elly, I hate that you're in this situation, but you asked me to be your referee and I did my best. There was nothing else I could have done.
Elly doesn't reply, simply turns and heads towards her room. Karl stops his wife from following, telling her that Elly is "being unfair" and "should never have asked." Susan though is concerned about "Elly's future career is at stake here."
Harold's Café
Ned gets a flashback to what happened with Scarlett when he comes in for something to eat and drink and sees Dipi with a hand in her hand (she's going to cut him a slice of cake). "You alright Ned?" she asks but he can't reply and hastily heads towards the toilets much to her bemusement.
The 82
Prue is trying to get rid of Harlow when she arrives at The 82 (so she can spend time alone with Gary) but he is rushed off his feet as they are picking up the customers avoiding the businesses at the complex. However, despite being rushed he can't give her any work and Harlow is surprised to hear her mum say she is after employment. Prue explains that her cash is running low and is unsure how long she will be around for.
Harold's Café
Yashvi is showing off her new work clothes to her mum, but Dipi seems more distracted over when Ned is going to come out of the toilet. Eventually he does and while she says he is getting his colour back; he actually looks the exact opposite as he bypasses the counter and heads straight to a table! The pair are concerned about him and Yashvi takes over his coffee and cake as a way to let him know about her new job as Chloe's EA. He is pleased for her and is sure that they will be fine working together after Yashvi raised her concern, however, suggests that she (and Bea) find "another topic of conversation" after she questions how he is. Realising he's bitten her head off; he calms down to reassure her that she's "nothing to worry about."
When Yashvi returns to the counter, Ned gets out his phone and texts Kane to say he will see him tonight.
Number 28
Elly has just realised how little money she has to live on now thanks to being sacked and not getting the maternity leave pay she was bargaining on. Finn reassures her that they will all chip in, even though she's not too happy at that prospect of that. She has at least got the big things (pram, cot and baby seat) and Finn suggests clearing out her room to make space for the baby.
The 82
Gary is still rushed off his feet and is hopeful that he should have time for Prue soon. To help him out, she volunteers to do the washing up but before she can do that, she gets a text but it's not a happy message - its warning her that she's 24 hours to make her payment or she is out!
Gary has been a silly boy thought - in his haste to get back to serving customers, he's not properly closed the till! Eventually temptation proves too much for Prue and she dips her hand into the till (but takes the low denomination notes and coins!) and gets caught red handed by Gary!
GARY: What are you doing?!
