- Dipi and Shane think it's too soon for her to live away from home, but Kirsha doesn't want to wait
- Toadie tells Shane and Dipi they're making a mistake; Shane tells him it's not his decision
- Toadie writes a reference letter for Kirsha anyway and encourages her to apply behind their back
- Amy has a full- on presentation to prepare for her job interview
- A hidden camera is found in one of the hotel rooms at Lassiter's, aimed straight at the bed
- Paul goes to taunt Scarlett at the police station; she eerily replies, 'trick or treat, Paul'
- He reports this back to Terese, Amy and Kyle - it seemed like Scarlett was working 'one last angle'
- Tim Collins sends Paul a link to a video on email, saying they need to talk about it
- When he plays the video, Paul's horrified to see it's footage of Amy and Kyle in the hotel room
On the sofa, Kyle comforts a distressed Amy, who can't believe this camera nightmare is happening again. Meanwhile in the kitchen, Paul tells Terese that the website Tim Collins sent him is full of videos of guests who've stayed in that room. Tim didn't say how he knew about the site, but Terese thinks it's Scarlett's 'one last angle', and Paul agrees.
PAUL: She must have taken the SD card out of the camera.
TERESE: But you said she didn't know anything!
PAUL: Well, I didn't think she did!
TERESE: Right. And so you went down and goaded her. I knew that was a mistake.
PAUL: Look, she can't have uploaded the thing from a jail cell, could she? So it must've happened earlier.
TERESE: Maybe. But I mean, it was still reckless. What do we do now?
PAUL: Well, we contact our legal team, and then we tee up a meeting with Tim, suss out what his agenda is. Then we find out if anyone else has been sent that link.
TERESE: What if Tim decides to run the story?
PAUL: I dunno what he's got planned. But the thing is, we can't panic. Understand?
TERESE: Oh, that's easy to say, Paul. I mean, you know what it'll do to the hotel if it runs.
Kyle stands up, annoyed to overheard all this.
KYLE: The hotel?! This has happened to us, and you're worried about your stupid jobs?!
AMY: It's alright -
KYLE: No, it's not alright, Amy! Get your priorities straight on what's important right now!
PAUL: Yeah, I know, I know. Amy, I am so sorry, honestly. Look, I will make this go away - you have my word, okay?
But Kyle strops out, taking Amy with him.
Back at home, Amy tells Kyle she wants to 'curl up and die'. Kyle reminds her they did nothing illegal, but Amy's more concerned about who will have been on the website and seen the video.
AMY: What if Jimmy sees it? Our families - our friends? We don't know how many people Scarlett sent that link to.
KYLE: Okay, we go to the cops. Get them onto it.
AMY: And make even more noise? That's the last thing I want. No, we just need to trust that Dad will fix this.
Given what's happened, Kyle suggests Amy try to reschedule her job interview; but she says it'll be a welcome distraction. Sheila bustles in and encourages her to get changed for it.
SHEILA: Make sure you put on something smart; make those stuffed shirts sit up and take notice!
Amy and Sheila go to pick out an outfit. Gary is lurking too, and remarks that Amy doesn't seem excited about the interview. Kyle claims it's just nerves.
GARY: Ah, yeah. I always do that trick of imagining everybody in the nuddy. It never works.
Kyle looks annoyed at the reminder of what's happened!
David is in the bathroom packing up Scarlett's belongings, when Aaron comes in and shows him Bea's damaged microphone cord from her amp; it was in Scarlett's room.
AARON: This just keeps getting worse. I don't know how I didn't see any of this.
DAVID: None of us did.
AARON: Yeah, I'm the one who invited her to come and stay with us, though.
David tells Aaron it's no- one's fault; Scarlett manipulated everyone.
DAVID: People like that convince themselves they're telling the truth. It's really hard to know when they're lying (...) There's nothing anyone could've done. Now (...) she's going to jail, and that's where her roommates won't be nearly as friendly as us.
AARON: I guess that means I can get rid of the security system, then?
DAVID: Oh, please! If it goes off in the middle of the night one more time -
Aaron goes to sort it out right away, but gives David a quick pash before he does.
Paul's on the phone to Tim Collins, and arranges to see him in half an hour. He finishes the call and tells Terese they need to stay one step ahead of Tim on this. Terese asks if Paul's tried to call Scarlett's accomplice, Marianna - he says he did, but that there was no answer. Terese is frustrated; she honestly thought the camera saga was behind them.
TERESE: If I'd managed it three years ago, I wouldn't be in this mess. I mean, why did I cover it up?! (...) Look where it got me. And look what it's done to Amy and Kyle.
Paul tells Terese they can't change the past; they can only focus on the problem they're facing now. Chloe and Pierce come in; Chloe asks after Ned, and feels guilty about giving Scarlett a job. Paul has the gall to tell Chloe off for not vetting her more thoroughly, despite the fact he found out Scarlett was dodgy and let her carry on working there!
Pierce reminds Paul and Terese that they're here for the meeting about the Melbourne Cup marquee. But he's surprised when Paul and Terese tell him they've got something more important to deal with. Terese tells Pierce and Chloe that they can reconvene in an hour once the other matter is sorted. Paul and Terese leave hastily; Pierce remarks to Chloe that that was 'pretty weird'.
Paul and Terese are meeting with Tim Collins.
TIM COLLINS: I was under the impression you had this hidden camera thing sorted.
TERESE: I did.
TIM COLLINS: And yet here we are, three years later.
TERESE: I had all the cameras removed. We missed one.
PAUL: Which we're not exactly thrilled about. Let's cut to the chase, Tim. What do you want?
TIM COLLINS: What, apart from the free coffee?
PAUL: (...) Are you gonna run the story?
TIM COLLINS: First things first. We made a deal, three years ago.
TERESE: Yes, and I kept my part. I had all that footage from those old videos destroyed.
PAUL: Why do you care anyway? You're not exactly married anymore.
TIM COLLINS: Oh, Paul, you may not care about your reputation, but I'd really rather not have a sex tape of me floating around the internet.
TERESE: Oh, come on, Tim - you haven't stayed with us in years. You have nothing to worry about, I promise.
TIM COLLINS: Then neither do you.
PAUL: You're not gonna run the story?
TIM COLLINS: You protected me last time; I'm happy to return the favour.
TERESE: Well, thank you.
TIM COLLINS: No worries. But now you owe me. The only reason I'm here is to make sure that none of this can come back to me. And now I have. So good luck putting your little fire out.
Tim Collins leaves. Paul remarks on how easy that was; Terese agrees, saying they may be able to contain this if no- one else knows about the website. However, at that moment, David rushes in to show them an article on his phone on a newspaper website - 'Hotel Spy Cam Sex Tapes' - with a playable video of Kyle and Amy on the bed!
DAVID: It's on every trashy website.
PAUL: Scarlett's obviously sent it to the world.
Toadie has popped round to confirm his training session with Aaron later (as part of his new health kick) and to see how he and David are doing following the Scarlett revelations. Toadie tells them Yashvi is 'wearing her stitches like a badge of honour'; he's going to see her at the hospital later, and asks David if he can organise him a blood screening while he's there, just to rule out any issues.
AARON: Wow. You really are serious about this whole health kick thing, aren't you?
TOADIE: As serious as a heart attack, mate, which is what I'm trying to avoid - so, yes!
In reception, Paul is coming in while on his mobile, leaving a message for Amy telling him to call him back - it's urgent. Terese follows Paul in. Paul points out that at least the online news article doesn't mention Lassiter's or Amy directly - but Terese points out that it does identify her as, 'the daughter of a well- known hotelier'.
TERESE: It's pretty clear they're not talking about Paris Hilton!
PAUL: We can still contain it, though, okay?
TERESE: Oh, how?! That article is gonna bring thousands of creeps to the website. Amy is gonna be devastated.
PAUL: Well, I am not gonna let that happen, am I?
TERESE: Paul, it is just a matter of time before they make the connection to Lassiter's. It's gonna ruin us. I mean, how will we ever come back from it?
PAUL: We spin it our way. Remember, that camera was planted without our knowledge. It was illegal. That makes the hotel an innocent victim here.
TERESE: (...) Innocent? Three years ago, I was involved in a cover- up that never came out! I'm gonna do now what I should've done then. I'm gonna come out on the front foot. Make a full admission, tell them everything.
A desperate Paul says that would be career suicide, but Terese insists it's the only way out. Paul says only Tim Collins and Ryan Prescott know what happened three years ago - Tim's keeping quiet, and Ryan's disappeared off the face of the earth. Terese points out that he could come back. But Paul says they can only contain this by not panicking.
PAUL: Let's just keep a lid on this.
Terese looks unsure, but doesn't object.
Toadie is forcing down a grim- tasting green smoothie, when Dipi and Shane come in from having visited Yashvi at the hospital; there's no sign of infection from where Scarlett stabbed her, so it's just about recovery now.
Dipi thanks Toadie for looking after Kirsha last night. Toadie remarks on how Kirsha beat him at Battleships, but was obviously worried about Yashvi. Shane says they'll take Kirsha to see her at the hospital later.
Kirsha gets in from school, and Toadie suggests she could come to the hospital with him now. Kirsha agrees, and also takes the opportunity to goad him about his Battleships loss.
TOADIE: What can I say? She loves me.
DIPI: Yeah, I guess you're a bit of an alright uncle.
Gary is moaning about some spam email he's got, telling him he's won the lottery and to send his bank details. Kyle tells him not to click the link. Kyle's looking for Amy, but Sheila tells him she wanted to get to the interview early.
KYLE: How was she, mood- wise?
SHEILA: Seemed a little bit flat. Not her usual self.
Kyle thanks Sheila for helping Amy prepare. Sheila asks where Kyle sneaked off to earlier. Kyle claims he went for a walk, to feed the pigeons. Gary reminds him they have pigeons in the yard that he can feed any time he wants! Sheila asks if Kyle and Amy have had a fight; he says not, but she can tell something's going on, so throws a 'Kyle Eugene Francis Canning' at him.
SHEILA: You two have been moping around like two kids that have dropped their ice- cream.
But Gary then shows him the article which he's just come across, saying it's on other news sites too. He asks Kyle what's happened; Kyle looks awkward.
Toadie and Kirsha have stopped off for a milkshake having been to visit Yashvi. Elly is at the counter buying a coffee, and comes over to talk to them; Toadie asks how she is after the Shaun news, and she tells him that it's helping her to keep busy. Elly tells Kirsha she has good news for her; she's been shortlisted for the scholarship at Sydney School for the Gifted™. But Kirsha doesn't seem that happy.
Elly leaves, promising to let Kirsha know the details. Once she's gone, Kirsha admits that she's worried if she gets the scholarship, Dipi and Shane will know she and Toadie went behind their backs to apply for it. Toadie, who is still excited by the news, has no answer to this.
Chloe and Pierce come in, discussing preparations for Pierce and Hendrix moving into No 24 next week. Pierce gets a message on his phone which alarms him.
PIERCE: We need to find Terese and Paul. Right now.
They rush out of the door.
Amy is having her job interview, which is being held at a table outside The Waterhole. (Of course it is.) Suddenly, all four of the interview panellists get phone messages simultaneously. Amy continues talking awkwardly, but the lead interviewer, Aidan Townsend, tells her he's just received a video - and looks to her for an explanation. Amy realises what they've been sent.
AMY: Yeah. I withdraw my application.
She rushes off, flustered.
Toadie and Kirsha are returning to the house. Kirsha's still worried that her parents will 'lose it' when they find out about her scholarship application. Toadie reminds her it's an amazing opportunity, and the fact she's being considered proves she's Gifted™ enough. Kirsha remains concerned, but Toadie tells her that if she does get the scholarship, Dipi and Shane will forget they ever said no...
TOADIE: ... because they'll realise what an amazing brainiac you are.
KIRSHA: And when they don't?
TOADIE: Well, I'll be there for you. You don't have to deal with this on your own.
KIRSHA: They won't be happy with you for helping me either.
TOADIE: I know. But I'm a big boy; I can deal with it. I've got your back, don't worry.
In the office, Terese is still stressing about the video leaks as Paul tries to reassure her. Pierce and Chloe show up; Pierce is furious to have learned about the camera, and that they've been keeping it from him. Paul says they were just trying to contain it and that they've dealt with PR issues before; as long as everyone's on the same page -
PIERCE: I'm not up for your motivational soundbites, Paul! What are we doing to fix this?!
At this point, Constable Doughty arrives, to take a statement from Terese. She admits she's called the police as she wants to make a full admission of the camera situation, and the previous cover- up.
PIERCE: What cover- up?
Toadie turns up for his training session with Aaron. Elly is there, and asks him what was wrong with Kirsha before - she didn't seem excited when she learned about the scholarship. After some pushing, Toadie eventually admits that they haven't told Shane and Dipi that Kirsha's applied for it. Elly is appalled, and says he needs to tell them.
TOADIE: No, no - Kirsha hasn't been accepted yet.
ELLY: But that's beside the point! You have no right getting involved; you are not her parent!
TOADIE: I did the right thing.
ELLY: No, the right thing would be to tell them!
TOADIE: No, no - there is no way that I am risking a massive family blowout. Nope!
Kyle and Amy are on the sofa. Kyle swears he's going to get the people responsible for the camera scandal - Scarlett, Ryan... But Amy says there's nothing he can do. Kyle persists, but Amy screams at him to stop saying he can fix it, when he clearly can't. Sheila and Gary come in to offer their inimitable brand of support.
SHEILA: When life gives you lemons, you gotta make lemonade!
SHEILA: You know, it's like that Kim Kardashian woman. Her sex tape - well, that really made her famous!
GARY: Oh, Mum, that's not helping.
SHEILA: Yeah, I know - but what I'm trying to say is, that it's not really the end of the world. I mean, this tape's only just got 5,020 views. Oh, 5,027 now. But in the scheme of things, that is almost nothing.
GARY: You know what I'd do? I'd strangle the mongrels that put that online, because 5,000 is 5,000 too many!
KYLE: Yes, we have to do something!
AMY: No, Sheila's right. It's not the end of the world. I need to get some air.
KYLE: I'll come with you.
AMY: No, I'm fine, okay? It's happened, and there's nothing we can do about it.
Amy walks out, and Gary slinks off to his room. Sheila comes to sit next to Kyle and asks how he's doing. He says he's not worried about himself - just Amy. Sheila says she's handling it okay. But we cut to the laundry room, where Amy is breaking down in tears...
Dipi and Shane are talking about the camera scandal; Dipi is feeling bad for Amy, and Shane is feeling bad for Kyle too.
SHANE: You know, I hope it's not the same room we stayed in when we won Face of Lassiter's.
DIPI: If that happened to us, I don't know what we'd do.
SHANE: No... You haven't watched it, have you?
DIPI: What?! No! Have you?
SHANE: Of course not.
DIPI: Good. They'd die if we betrayed their trust like that.
Kirsha comes in, and Dipi senses something is wrong when she says little about her visit to see Yashvi at the hospital. It doesn't take long for Kirsha to crack.
DIPI: What's wrong?
KIRSHA: ... I've been lying to you. To both of you.
SHANE: Lying about what?
KIRSHA: I applied for the scholarship in Sydney.
SHANE: You did what?!
KIRSHA: I'm on a shortlist to get in. And I know you guys said no, but it's really important to me. I'm sorry.
DIPI: What? How could you do this?!
KIRSHA: Uncle Toadie - he helped me.
Shane looks annoyed.
Aaron has Toadie doing push- ups on the patio.
AARON: Squeeze that butt, Toad! Come on - two more, two more!
TOADIE: I am squeezing - the butt is squeezing!
Toadie's pleased to reach his target and keen to get onto the squats. But at this point, an angry Shane turns up.
SHANE: Hey! You said you wouldn't interfere!
TOADIE: Oh... okay, um, Kirsha asked for my help.
SHANE: You went behind my back even though we talked about it, and you agreed it wasn't your call!
TOADIE: Shane, she really wants to do this.
SHANE: So what? It's none of your business - Kirsha's our daughter!
TOADIE: Okay. Well, I was doing what I thought was right, and I still do.
SHANE: You are so arrogant. I'm gonna say this once - we're her parents, we decide what's best for her.
Toadie continues to argue, but Shane shouts him down, calling him a hypocrite.
SHANE: Here you are getting fit, so you can have more time with your kids - and at the same time, you're trying to get rid of one of mine!
Shane marches out, slamming the gate behind him. Toadie looks sheepish.
Pierce, Chloe, Terese and Paul are still talking about the cameras.
PIERCE: I'm not gonna ask you why you thought it was a good idea to cover it up - it's done. There's no point dwelling on it. We've gotta figure out this current situation.
CHLOE: Yeah, I guess we'd better brace ourselves for the fallout; I'll contact our lawyers.
TERESE: (...) It might be best if I take a leave of absence. Just until things die down a little bit.
PIERCE: I disagree.
PAUL: Yeah, there's got to be another way around this.
PIERCE: No, a leave of absence is nowhere near enough. You should resign. Effective immediately.
