- Hendrix introducing himself to Mackenzie.
- Chloe unloading to Pierce about her mum.
- Mark (and Chloe) finding out that Fay has gone missing.
Number 24
Mark and Chloe are making plans for who to call to try and find their mum when Aaron arrives with info - Tyler got in contact with Fay's usual taxi company and it appears they picked her up and took her to the airport... and moments later, guess who appears at the front door asking for help with her bag!
Harold's Café
"This sucks," is how Yashvi describes to Mackenzie the fact Ned isn't communicating with her as the pair chat about it.
Meanwhile Dipi is worried that the break might affect Yashvi's exam preparation, but her words about it to Shane aren't being taken in and we find out why - he thinks he might have found Mackenzie's dad! Turns out a friend ran into Grant and we hear that he works in a hardware store in some NSW town, so he's left a message to the owner seeking confirmation. Its dilemma time though - do they tell Mackenzie or not? Dipi says no until they find out how the lead pans out.
The Waterhole
Pierce is having a heart-to-heart chat with Hendrix over him starting Erinsborough High the next day. The lad is more than assured in himself that he will be fine and tells Pierce to stop the "concerned dad" routine.
Number 24
Fay is trying to downplay her arrival in Erinsborough - despite what the others are saying, she is sure she told Piper and Tyler what her plans were. They try to reassure Fay that they are simply worried, but she is peeved they seem to be treating her more like a child!
Fay eventually gets a chance to explain - she heard via Chloe that Mark was going through a hard time so jumped on a flight as she thought he'd need his mum. Mark isn't exactly happy, but Aaron can see Fay is shattered so suggests that she might call it a night (since its late) and its Mark who takes his mum through to the bedrooms.
CHLOE: (to Aaron) She's not good is she?
AARON: She's definitely worse.
CHLOE: What are we going to do?
Aaron doesn't have an answer other than asking David to give her a check over in the morning.
AARON: That way we know exactly what we're dealing with.
Erinsborough High
Its 5 days until the ball and Yashvi is already fretting that she hadn't anyone to take to it. Harlow suggests that the trio (Mackenzie is there too) form a pact to go together... unless Mackenzie gets a better offer!
Cherie (after herding the girls into class) introduces their new classmate - Hendrix. Mackenzie seems to be the only one happy to see him swagger to the empty seat at the back of the classroom!
Number 24
After checking Fay over in the bedroom, David reports to the siblings that her "Huntington's has progressed significantly and it's getting worse quickly." His advice is for them to make sure she is taking her meds but spells it out that its best she is taken home to Adelaide where she is familiar with her surroundings.
It looks like Mark agrees, as he tells everyone about Fay getting up during the night a few times and became distressed as she was disorientated. "I'm afraid that won't get any better," David adds especially coming on the back of her recent fall. "So it's going to happen again?" Chloe asks already fearful that the next time "she may really hurt herself." "That's the danger," David concedes and reiterates that they need to get Fay back to Adelaide to her specialists and more importantly, her home where she won't be so disorientated. Finally, he warns them that they will need to look into getting her 24-hour care.
AARON: Are we really at that point?
David: (nodding) Unfortunately.
Mark doesn't think that its fair for Tyler and Piper to take this on themselves, but Chloe doesn't want to put Fay in a home, fearful that it will break her heart. "It's not like she's totally lost it," she adds, and her brothers agree she is right.
(Later)
Commercial break later and in the kitchen Aaron and Mark are trying to work out how they can plan it, so Fay gets the support but equally it's not just down to Piper and Tyler before eventually agreeing on some sort of roster.
Meanwhile in the livingroom, Fay is happy to at least meet Pierce and they start talking wine, as Pierce knows the place she worked at... but Fay thinks she still works there despite Chloe trying to explain that she left. Fay gets into a very distressed state trying to find a business card for Pierce, which causes Mark and Aaron to come through from the kitchen. The contents of Fay's bag end up on the floor and the boys immediately spring into trying to help put the stuff back.
Ramsay Street
Pierce happened to notice that there was someone else getting upset during that last scene - Chloe and follows her out of the house.
When he catches up with her, he asks if she is okay... which comes back as a blunt "not really!" Pierce acknowledges that it must have been hard for her to see and can't imagine how she is feeling, which she admits is "not great" but also because it's a "welcome to your future Chloe."
PIERCE: You don't know it's going to be the same for you.
CHLOE: Actually, I do. It's going to be exactly the same and probably happen a lot sooner.
PIERCE: Well, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
CHLOE: I knew it was going to happen but, when its right in front of you.
She then tells Pierce that she knows he freaked out (as she saw his face) but he denies that, instead admitting that it was "confronting." Chloe then gives him the "if you want to end this" speech but rather than running away, he instead says they'll "figure it out," and pulls her in for a hug.
Harold's Café
Shane comes off the phone from the manager of the hardware store Grant worked at with some bad news - he no longer works there, and the owner doesn't know where he went to. "So what now?" asks Dipi and Shane is forced to admit that he doesn't know but equally isn't ready to admit defeat yet (despite Dipi thinking that he should) as it means letting Mackenzie down again.
Erinsborough High
Cherie reminds the class of their homework task (to find an effective study habit) and is met by silence when she asks for a volunteer to go first! Conscript time beginning with Yashvi - tossing a footy around as learning and movement leaves you more focused. Hendrix doesn't see the point of studying for a test... unless it's a test drive of a new Porsche! At that point, Cherie suggests a 10 minute break to refocus the class!
Number 24
Pierce tells Aaron about Chloe accusing him of freaking out earlier but is told that nobody is handling what is happening to Fay very well. "I love Chloe okay and I'm committed to being there for her," Pierce reassures Aaron with but admits that now he fully understands what she will go through. "You do realise that this is going to get worse, not better?" Aaron points out (he does) and suggests that if Pierce is having "second thoughts," can he "let Chloe know."
AARON: She can't be left wondering if you've got one foot out the door.
Erinsborough High
During the break, Hendrix swapped the props Harlow had in her box (inspirational phrases written down) for sanitary towels. Immediately after Yashvi lets her know her plan has been sabotaged, Harlow turns around to Hendrix and asks where her phrases are. "I don't know," he smugly replies back, but Harlow is fit for him and instead of being downhearted, she makes him look like a prized numpty instead!
Harold's Café
Pierce has taken Chloe to the café so they can chat without her family being around. However, it's her that wants to begin the chat - she knows seeing her mum today was hard for him and says that he doesn't need to stay with her. "But I want to," Pierce immediately replies back but then Chloe drops her bombshell on him - she's decided to move to Adelaide to look after her mum, knowing that he can't move with her what with his work and Hendrix just arriving.
CHLOE: Trust me, this is for the best. One day, this disease is going to make me really, really sick and when that happens, I hope there will be someone there to look after me. Right now, I have to step up and be that person for my mum.
PIERCE: Please Chloe, just slow down, you're not breaking up with me. Okay, yes, I had a moment, but that doesn't mean I am going to just let you give up on us.
CHLOE: You're ruining my speech!
PIERCE: I'm sorry, but you don't get to be the martyr alright, you're stuck with me.
"Promise?" she asks, and he nods his head before saying that if she really wants to move to Adelaide, then he will support her.
Erinsborough High
"You owned Hendrix this morning," Yashvi declares as she, Harlow and Mackenzie walk along the corridor. Harlow thinks he does it because she isn't impressed by him and walks off (with Yashvi) after the lad in question appears. Even Mackenzie has a go at him, saying he's been mean [to Harlow] but he passes it of as "just trying to be funny" before twisting things around to say that he is upset with her because she hasn't asked him to be her partner at the upcoming ball!
MACKENZIE: What, do you want to go together or something?
HENDRIX: Sure, thought you'd never ask!
After he has said that, Hendrix walks off and from the look on Mackenzie's face, it looks like she is trying to decide if this is the best thing she has ever done... or the worst!
Number 24
Chloe tells her brothers of her intended plan to move to Adelaide and look after Fay. Turns out that Aaron was thinking along the same lines and was going to have the conversation with David, however before they get any further, Fay comes out from the bedroom asking for help and both Aaron and Chloe head off to assist.
Pierce stops Mark from following his siblings, to tell him that he doesn't think it's a good idea for Chloe to go to Adelaide as she will see every day what is ahead of her. Mark knows that Tyler can't cope on his own, and that it will be Chloe's decision (because he's not in charge of her) but eventually the penny drops on what Pierce is saying to him.
MARK: Which means she'll be going through her illness twice.
PIERCE: I just want to be sure that she's sure.
Just at that, Chloe and Aaron return, and Mark says that he thinks he knows what they need to do - he wants them all to get on a flight to Adelaide with Fay, so they can talk with Tyler (and a doctor) to come up with a plan.
MARK: No-one is making a long-term decision today.
Silently (and unseen other than by Mark) Pierce mouths 'thank you' seconds before Fay comes out from the bedroom asking, "what's happening." Mark invites her to sit down before Aaron explains that they've decide to go with her to Adelaide for a family trip.
FAY: Aww, that is wonderful. It's been so long since we were all together for a holiday.
(Later)
The Brennans are all packed up and Fay again expresses her gratitude to her kids for what they are doing.
Erinsborough High
Mackenzie is still in a pickle over inadvertently asking Hendrix to the ball. "So take it back," Harlow tells her but Yashvi thinks it's okay as long as Mackenzie actually likes him.
The conversation is curtailed when Shane and Dipi arrive in the school wanting to talk to Mackenzie. The lass isn't amused to see Shane but Dipi explains that he has some news that she needs to hear.
SHANE: Your dad just called me.
Mackenzie looks stunned and wants to know what he said that Dipi replies that he wants to see her, and Shane adding in that he is on his way to Erinsborough right now!
