Number 22
Scarlett rushes to hide in the laundry as Sheila, Roxy and Harlow arrive home. Sheila goads Roxy into doing some cleaning after work and wonders why "Posh Spice" Harlow isn't pulling her weight. The girls make up a random lie to keep the Mark bribe a secret. Ned walks downstairs into the pathway of cyclone Sheila, who is ranting about the 'stress' of looking after everyone at #22. Ned offers to put the shopping away while the girls get a lift with Sheila to the Lassiters Complex. In the kitchen, Ned pauses when he thinks he hears the laundry door shut, then brushes off his concerns not realising Scarlett's spying on him.
The Waterhole
Mark feels awkward picking up a lunch order from Roxy after their handcuff ordeal. Roxy says that Ned and Harlow will keep their secret and teases Mark about "getting freaky" with her. Mark says things are getting out of hand but manages a smile when Roxy admits she doesn't want their hook ups to end. They quickly disperse when Sheila brings over Mark's lunch. Meanwhile, Scarlett is sitting alone scrolling through Ned's old social media posts. She stumbles upon a photo of Ned and Bea when they were a couple, with Yashvi standing next to them. Her interest is piqued.
Harold's Café
Hendrix ignores his seventh phone call in a row from Pierce. Harlow is less than enthused when Hendrix once again cuts in front of her while she's at the drinks fridge. She wonders why he can't take one day off from being obnoxious but Hendrix retorts by looking up Web MD to see if there's a cure for "chronic uptightness". Harlow eventually walks off, snubbing Hendrix's smug suggestion that they get to know each other better.
The Waterhole
After Sheila has another go at her, Roxy asks Amy, Kyle and Gary why Sheila's extra grumpy lately. The trio tell her that Sheila's just taking her bad mood out on everyone because she's missing Clive. Gary thinks they should spoil Sheila for her birthday tomorrow as a nice distraction, but Roxy gets excited and thinks they should throw Sheila a surprise party that night: "Mama Jugs needs to cut loose."
Number 30
Yashvi's quite put out that Shane's devoting so much time to helping Mackenzie look for her father, especially when Shane promised Yashvi he'd help her with her homework. Dipi notices how unhappy she is and offers to help her daughter instead, but Yashvi says it'd be easier for Shane as he did the same assignment last year. Shane tells Mackenzie he's having a hard time locating her father online, but promises he'll do his best to keep searching. When Mackenzie leaves, Dipi asks Shane if he still wants to keep helping so much but Shane says he has to for Mackenzie's sake. "I'll face the music when the time comes," he adds guiltily.
Ramsay Street
Ned and Harlow don't quite understand Roxy's enthusiasm for throwing Sheila a party at #22. But Roxy says that the Cannings have already spread the word around to the guests, plus Kyle and Amy are trying to get Clive to come. Roxy figures if Sheila's loved up again it'll work in everyone's favour to get her off their backs. Ned isn't sure Roxy can get a party organised at such short notice but Roxy's up for the challenge.
Harold's Café
Scarlett takes interest in Bea and Finn as she passes them on the way out. Bea asks Finn if he's still going to see David for his hospital appointments but Finn says he's required to as part of his release conditions. Bea gets a text and asks Finn if he's up for a party tonight.
At the counter, Harlow drops her purse. Hendrix appears out of nowhere and swoops in to grab her learner's permit so he can find out her name and address. He's pleased to see she lives on Ramsay Street then deduces she's throwing a party from the amount of food she's buying. Hendrix asks for an invite but Harlow retorts that his sense of entitlement isn't scoring him anything. This doesn't deter Hendrix as he sends out a social media blast telling everyone 'Party @ 22 Ramsay St tonight!'
Number 22
Sheila's pretty stoked when her family, Roxy, Harlow, Dipi and a bunch of random extras yell out surprise as she walks in. She beams and says it must have taken a lot of planning to get things looking so good. While she's in the kitchen with Dipi, Sheila overhears her family and Roxy talking about Clive and gets her hopes up that he might be attending the shindig too.
Yashvi watches her dad and Mackenzie have a chat in the backyard. Scarlett comes over to say hello and asks who some of the guests are, including Bea. Yashvi smiles and says Bea's her best friend, calling her over for introductions. Scarlett can't help but watch Ned flitting around playing party host while Yashvi and Bea chat. She makes a comment about Bea and Ned's dating history, but Bea says everyone's mates now so there are no issues. Scarlett fake smiles and says cheers to, "sisters before misters".
Back inside, Sheila applies more makeup so she looks top notch for Clive, but Gary and Dipi tell her to stop fretting. Drunken Roxy leaves a voicemail for Mark, telling him to come to the party so they can have some fun. Harlow overhears her and dishes out some advice.
HARLOW: You might want to tone down the drunk dialling. If you're that thirsty there's punch in the kitchen.
Sheila asks her family how many more guests they should be expecting - but Hendrix waltzing through the door with his buddies weren't the type of guests she was hoping for. Gary and Kyle try to tell the teens to clear off but Hendrix claims Harlow invited them. And Roxy believes that since she's the host, they're allowed to stay to liven up the night.
Hendrix sees Mackenzie outside and immediately puts the moves on her, asking if he should be expecting competition from her boyfriend. Surprised and pleased, Mackenzie introduces herself to Hendrix and says that she's single. Elsewhere, Shane reassures Yashvi he hasn't forgotten about her homework and will help her soon. But when he sees Mackenzie walking off (after Hendrix went to get drinks) he tells Yashvi that he needs to catch up with her. In another part of the yard, Scarlett is subtly grilling Finn on all the goss she needs.
SCARLETT: Has everyone on this street dated everyone else?
FINN: Yeah it feels like that at times.
She notices Ned and Bea chatting across the way and comments that it must be hard getting over your ex when they live so close. But Finn says Ned and Bea are just friends now. Scarlett wonders if Yashvi is cool with the arrangement and Finn admits she used to get jealous but she's over it now. Scarlett takes this info on board.
Shane chats with Mackenzie and finds out that she's 'terrified, confused and excited' about the prospect of Hendrix liking her. Mackenzie doesn't think she's making any sense, but Shane smiles and says it makes perfect sense.
MACKENZIE: I've never been in this situation before. I don't know what to do. Should I tell him? Or should I wait to see how it goes first and then tell him?
SHANE: I think you're overthinking it. You've only had one conversation with the guy.
MACKENZIE: Welcome to my life! Overthinking is my jam.
SHANE: Well then, let's overthink it together. Option one, you tell him.
MACKENZIE: Which is weird because I hardly know him and it's none of his business.
SHANE: Okay great, so you don't tell him.
MACKENZIE: But is that fair on him? And that sounds like I'm ashamed of myself, and I've spent forever trying not to feel that way.
SHANE: From what I'm hearing it all boils down to rejection. And... everyone's scared of that.
MACKENZIE: Not everyone has 'the big reveal' hanging over their heads.
Shane says for what it's worth, he thinks you have to be in it rather than avoiding it your whole life. So if she tells Hendrix and he walks away, he didn't deserve her in the first place. Mackenzie nods and smiles.
In the lounge room Sheila tells Roxy that everything is getting a bit much at the party.
ROXY: No, no Sheila! Don't be a party pooper.
SHEILA: It's my party; I can poop if I want to.
Sheila doesn't want all the gatecrashers to ruin her night but Roxy manages to convince her they're pub patrons who just want to wish Sheila all the best. Over in the kitchen, Amy gets a text from Clive and by the sounds of things he's not coming to the party. Harlow fumes at Hendrix for lying about scoring an invitation from her, calling him a "walking, talking rich kid cliché", but Hendrix couldn't care less. Someone else who is throwing all their cares away is Sheila, who has started dancing on the coffee table in the middle of some raucous well-wishers.
Scarlett takes some party pics on her phone of Kyle and Ned, but you just know she's going to crop out Kyle ASAP. She keeps a happy smile on her face when Yashvi cosies up to Ned, but sticks the boot in when Ned walks off to sort out a mess in the lounge.
SCARLETT: Thanks again for the intro to Bea. Ned talks about his ex at work all the time, it was good to put a face to the name. Again, kudos to you guys for being friends.
YASHVI: It's not that hard, they're ancient history.
SCARLETT: Oh of course! I just don't think I could do it. Rex, the guy who left me at the altar, he'd been secretly seeing his ex.
YASHVI: No way.
SCARLETT: It had been going on for ages and it turns out he always wanted to get back with her. Worst part was I thought we were mates. Never twigged.
Yashvi is visibly upset by this thought. Mackenzie finds Hendrix in the lounge room and says there's something she wants to tell him.
MACKENZIE: I'm transgender.
HENDRIX: Okay.
MACKENZIE: (disappointed) ...Okay then.
(Hendrix stops her from walking off)
HENDRIX: Wait; you're not doing another runner on me are you?
MACKENZIE: You mean you want me to stay?
HENDRIX: Well yeah. Being trans doesn't change the fact that you're the hottest girl at the party.
MACKENZIE: Just to be clear, I'm not interested in being any sort of experiment if that's what you're after.
HENDRIX: Do I look like a scientist to you? I just want to get to know you better. Is that okay?
Mackenzie looks smitten, while Shane, who has been watching them, looks worried.
Shane finds Dipi a while later. She tells him it was nice Mackenzie went to him for advice about Hendrix, but Shane thinks she won't anymore after they locate her dad and she 'finds out the truth'. Dipi tells him to stop worrying and just enjoy the party - much like Mackenzie is, sharing a kiss with Hendrix. Harlow sees them kissing and looks a tiny bit jealous. Gary rushes outside to let Ned and Yashvi know that another lot of gatecrashers just showed up.
Back indoors, Sheila worriedly says to Amy that "Bags and Terese are going to go berserk" when they find out about all the damage to the house. Sheila also notes that Clive would have turned up by now if he was actually planning on coming - she overheard her family talk about him earlier. Amy fidgets and says that Clive texted and said he had to work. Kyle turns the music down just as Mark and a fellow officer turn up after a noise complaint from Mrs Punt. Excited to see Mark, drunk Roxy forgets her inhibitions and runs over to leap into his arms, planting a big kiss on him much to everyone's astonishment.
