- Leo gives Paul 'his' present for Terese which is a USB containing a video about Josh
- Paul gives Terese the USB
- Sindi assures Amy not to worry about the retreat. Amy says she will keep a close eye on things
- Clive says Xanthe's frequent seizures might indicate a more long- term problem. Xanthe apologises for not being able to become a Dr but thanks Sheila for believing in her
- A criminal asks Gary to look after some dodgy money for him
- Gary sits on his couch looking at the dodgy money
Amy barges in on Gary who is sleeping on the couch, presumably guarding the dodgy cash. Amy explains that Sheila asked her to drop by to get Gary to go to the hospital to see Xanthe. Gary looks concerned about leaving the cash alone but agrees to let Amy give him a lift.
Paul tells Leo how brilliant the video of Josh was and how much it impressed Terese. Paul tells Leo he's taking Terese for brunch to which Leo responds that it sounds a bit casual and dinner would have been more impressive. He then finds out they're going to the Flame Tree which impresses him even less but Paul explains that it was Terese's suggestion. Leo questions Terese's intentions about the 'date', wondering why she'd want to go to a restaurant that her ex manages. Paul doesn't seem at all concerned.
Terese is sitting with Ned and Piper in the back garden and tells them that she doesn't view her brunch with Paul as a date, but merely as a thank you seeing as the video was one of the most thoughtful things anyone's ever given her. Piper gets tearful about the video and is surprised that Paul has this side to him. She reveals that Leo's the one who came over to collect the footage of Josh.
Cassius arrives to accompany Piper to see Xanthe at the hospital. Piper explains that Xanthe's seizures are getting worse and as a result it'll now be near impossible for her to study medicine. Ned thinks Xanthe somehow needs some fun back in her life again.
Xanthe talks to Gary about insurance following her accident. Unfortunately he's too sidetracked by the dodgy cash at home so keeps looking at the clock. When she notices, he reassures her that he has nowhere else to be.
Cassius arrives without Piper who is sorting out a surprise for Xanthe. Gary uses this as an opportunity to leave but says he'll come back later.
Amy asks Sindi if it's been a busy morning to which Sindi responds that everything's running smoothly. Amy says she's only looking out for Gary as he's been under a lot of stress.
SINDI: Amy, I get why you're concerned. Because of my history.
SINDI: But I really like working here. You know it's all about helping people and making them feel good and that makes me feel good too. This is actually the fresh start that I've been dreaming of.
AMY: Well keep up the good work then.
Gary returns, unable to find the cash and begins to panic.
Piper enters Xanthe's hospital room and calls herself 'Nurse Xanthe' imitating her usual quirky self in a bid to cheer her up. Xanthe doesn't look very impressed. Piper hands Xanthe a book and then goes to take her obs. Piper ignores Xanthe when she asks her to stop, prompting Xanthe to eventually lose her cool. Piper apologises and Xanthe explains that she's just really upset that she won't be able to become a doctor. Xanthe begins to have sharp pains again which makes Piper rush off to find a doctor. Mysteriously Cassius knows some exercises to help relieve the pains she's having.
Ned arrives at the retreat as Leo asks Sindi to sort out a table for Paul and Terese. He and Leo realise that Paul and Terese have different intentions about their brunch. Ned has concerns that Leo is the one who's been doing all the leg work, implying that Paul doesn't deserve it. Leo only seems concerned about Paul and Terese ending up together.
LEO: She's one in a million. She's smart, she's strong, she's beautiful. But she's also got...
NED: (interrupting) Beautiful, huh?
LEO: (looking rattled) You know what I mean.
Ned says he has to leave and Leo looks pensive.
Gary arrives to interrogate Amy about the missing money. Things soon get heated when he asks her if she's had a kleptomania relapse. Amy seems bewildered as she was only in the house with him for a few seconds before they both left to go to the hospital. She wonders why Gary isn't still at the hospital.
AMY: Just focus on Xanthe and take care of yourself too, ok?
(Gary looks touched by Amy's concern)
GARY: I will, thanks Ames.
Exiting Xanthe's room, Piper asks Cassius about his miraculous physio skills. Cassius acts shifty and plays it down but Piper persists. Cassius explains that his mum had an accident when he was young.
CASSIUS: She had mental health problems that led to her accident, so I was basically her carer growing up.
PIPER: I'm so sorry, that must have been so hard.
CASSIUS: It was. We didn't have a lot of money for rehab and after a long stint in hospital she needed it, so I just taught myself how to help her.
PIPER: How old were you?
PIPER: I can't even imagine what that must have been like.
Cassius explains that if he sometimes holds back it's because he feels so great when he's with Piper and prefers not to focus on dark things. Piper reassures him.
Gary walks up Ramsay Street confronted by Ned who appears to have a backpack resembling the one Gary had containing the dodgy money. He aggressively grabs Ned who looks shocked.
Gary throws Ned through the doorway into the living room. Ned asks for a chance to explain, telling Gary that he and Piper were given a key by Sheila in order to organise the surprise for Xanthe earlier. While Ned was there he stumbled across the bag of cash and decided to keep it safe as it was just there in plain sight. He had tried to call Gary several times but he'd left his phone at the retreat. Ned accurately suspects that the money is dodgy and advises Gary to find a better place to stash it.
Cassius overhears Piper and Xanthe praising his therapy skills. He looks pleased to hear Piper say that she feels like their relationship is going well as he's started to confide in her a bit more. Cassius knocks at the door, having bought some snacks for the girls.
Ned, Leo and Terese discuss the disaster that the Lassiter's Christmas in July event turned out to be. Before Terese heads off, Leo tells her that he's managed to turn the disaster on its head by uploading some of the footage to their social media pages in an attempt to look like they can laugh at themselves. She looks impressed but as soon as she's gone Ned interrogates Leo about his true intentions. Ned says that he knows what it's like to have a crush on an older woman but Leo brushes it off, seemingly in complete denial.
Gary furiously locks a draw behind the reception at the retreat and immediately acts suspicious when Amy turns up. Amy says she's come to apologise to Sindi who has clearly done a good job in Gary's absence. Sindi looks delighted and Gary thanks her as well. Gary, while hesitant at first, is encouraged by Amy to get Sindi to manage the retreat for a week longer so he can focus on Xanthe.
Gary apologises to Xanthe for leaving earlier. She looks inconsolable, explaining that she feels like a complete disappointment. Gary tells her that couldn't be further from the truth.
XANTHE: Do you think that they'll ever find Finn?
GARY: They will, I promise.
XANTHE: I love you, dad.
GARY: I love you too.
Leo looks aroused as he helps Terese do up a zip that's got caught on her dress. Paul arrives and asks if she's ready to go. Leo looks concerned about his feelings as Paul and Terese head off.
