Number 28 Back Yard
Karl serves Elly and Holly breakfast. Susan appears in front of what looks like a green screen of the back of their house to say she's going to Tai Chi. Karl thought they might be able to do some gardening later, Susan doesn't look too thrilled. Karl gets a call from Clive. He tells his family that Clive's giving him another chance, which means the data won't go to waste. Holly asks if that means everything will go back to normal. Karl says absolutely, but neither he nor Susan look convinced.
Terese asks Toadie if there's something she can do. Piper says she didn't even take time off when she got sick. Toadie says accrued leave is a liability for the company and Paul has every right to insist. Toadie says Terese is able to get weekly updates from Leo if she'd like. Piper thinks it could be a good thing, they could spend more time together. Terese wants that, but it's a matter of principle. Toadie says she's on leave whether she likes it or not.
As they leave their house, Dipi tells Mishti about the Tai Chi class at the retreat. They see a man outside taking a photo of their house. He sends it in a message which reads ‘Awaiting further instructions.' Dipi talks to the guy who introduces himself as Vic, a real estate agent. He says he's following up on a request, and she'll get further information soon. As Vic leaves, Dipi wonders if Lauren wants to sell the house.
Terese arrives with biscuits for Mishti, telling her they have ginger in them, the ginger helped with Terese's nausea when she was pregnant. Mishti thanks her. Dipi tells Terese about the clogged pipes in Harold's. Terese says she's on forced leave so she'll need to speak to the acting general manager, Leo.
Holly sits on a bench, reading her phone while Yashvi and Shane throw a football around. Shane complains that even after all his physio, his hand is still dodgy. Holly shouts out excitedly, she got it! She says she needs to tell mum, dad and Susan first.
Piper tells Paul that her mum will go insane not working. Paul says it works best for both of them, Paul tells her Piper should keep her mum occupied.
PAUL: Your mother put herself through the ringer for you lately. Anything else?
Piper leaves, passing Leo who is talking to Mishti. Mishti questions him about Terese being forced out without any notice. Leo just thinks Terese needs a break.
MISHTI: Every time Paul does something dodgy, you seem to look away.
LEO: Tell me what about this is dodgy?
Leo thinks Mishti is accusing Paul of doing this to get him the job. He insists Paul made the call because it's best for the business.
Holly shows Elly the message she got. She's been accepted onto the Chinese Exchange program, which means she'll be staying with a Chinese family for 6 months. Elly says it's fantastic. Holly says her mum needs to sign off on it, she'll speak to her first before she talks to Karl or Susan, just in case.
Mishti complains to David about Leo telling her to essentially suck it up. Mishti wishes Leo had a mind of his own. David thinks Terese probably should have had some time off anyway. Mishti suddenly feels sudden pain and sits down in agony, while David offers to help.
MISHTI: I'm pregnant! Something's wrong. I think I need to go to the hospital.
Mishti is sitting sadly in a hospital bed. Leo rushes over and asks what happened. Mishti says they lost the baby. Leo looks gutted but asks if Mishti is okay. She has some cramps but other than that, yeah. Leo apologises for upsetting her earlier, but Mishti says he didn't cause this. David tells them that the pregnancy was in an early stage and sometimes this can happen, they don't know why. Mishti can go home later, there's no need for her to stay in hospital, she might just experience cramps and nausea for a few days.
MISHTI: It's not like the pregnancy was even planned, we weren't even ready.
LEO: That's not the point.
MISHTI: It is. We hadn't even wrapped our heads around it. I'll be fine, you should go back to work.
She tells him that Dipi will come and get her.
The Flametree Retreat
Dipi, Susan, Steph, Piper and Terese are doing Tai Chi.
TERESE (whispering): Psst, do you have to talk slowly when you do this?
PIPER (whispering): Mum, Tai Chi is about clearing your mind and regaining inner balance.
Terese takes out her phone and quickly checks it, til Piper tells her off.
PIPER: Mum, are you kidding?! I swear, I'm the only 18- year- old that needs to tell their mum to get off their phone!
TERESE: I'm sorry, I'm just used to things going a little bit faster.
PIPER: You're not at work mum, you're here with me, and while we're doing this…
PIPER: Don't ssh me!
TERESE: Yes I know, and this is very special. Very special. Thank you.
Meanwhile, Dipi tells Susan that she spoke to Lauren and she didn't send the real estate guy. Susan suggests he could be a buyer's advocate, someone who scopes out houses and makes offers to people. Dipi thinks that's the last thing she needs. Susan suggests she make an offer herself, but with Shane working part time, Dipi doesn't think they'll have time to go to a mortgage broker. She gets a text from Mishti asking to pick her up from the hospital.
Erinsborough Hospital/Lassiters – Terese's office
As Dipi arrives, Mishti tells her she should have finished her class. Dipi tells her not to be stupid. Mishti says she's alright, she's 23 and babies weren't in the picture a while ago. She's only just started her job so this is for the best. Mishti thinks about Terese's biscuits. She gave them for the morning sickness, and now she doesn't need them. Mishti starts to cry, Dipi hugs her.
MISHTI: This is so stupid. All l can think about is how relieved I am. What's wrong with me?
DIPI: Absolutely nothing. You can be relieved, sad or angry, or all of those things at once. However you're feeling Mish, it's okay.
MISHTI: We're not ready for a baby, I'm not.
Dipi asks how Leo is. Mishti says she sent him back to work, she doesn't want him to have to worry about it. We cut to Leo unpacking his things in Terese's office. He's clearly thinking about Mishti and the baby.
Number 28 Back Yard
Karl brings over some plants, joining Toadie and Susan. He asks how Susan's class was. Susan says it was okay.
SUSAN: I'm trying to convince Toadie to come with me next time.
TOADIE: And I'm trying to find a polite way of saying ‘in your dreams.'
Toadie realises that the plants Karl bought are not from the nursery. Karl got them at the garden centre instead. Toadie wants the nursery to be doing well when Sonya and Nell get back. He says Walter and Zoe are doing really well so Sonya may be back in a week or so. Karl says next time he'll go to the nursery. Elly asks if anyone has seen Holly since breakfast. Karl says she's out and about. Karl and Toadie leave to get some food. Susan gets a message and learns that Holly's been accepted to the China Exchange Program, she didn't even know Holly had applied. Susan says Karl will be devastated.
Terese is having a coffee outside Harold's, when she spots Paul speaking to a staff member outside. Terese wanders over and asks a staff member to take one of the trolleys inside. She looks around at the green book exchange box and looks thoughtfully.
Lassiters – Terese's office
David arrives asking if he or Mishti need anything. Leo says Mishti doesn't need anyone. David tells her to give her a break, she doesn't know it yet but she needs him. David says they should be with each other. He asks why Leo didn't tell him he was expecting. Leo says he only just found out. David tells him that this happened to him too and he's allowed to show it. Paul arrives and tells Leo he's arranged a meeting with the accountant this afternoon. Leo says he's not up for it, and tells Paul they lost the baby. Paul is so sorry and asks if there's anything he can do. Leo tells him to go to the meeting, he needs to be with Mishti.
Piper comments on Terese being gone a while and wonders if it was because she's the one who encouraged her to go to Tai Chi. Terese says Tai Chi was fine, it was different, but she needed to clear her head. Terese says they're rebuilding their relationship so maybe it's good that Paul gave her time off so they can spend more time together.
PIPER: We could do more Tai Chi?
TERESE: I was thinking something more sedate.
PIPER: What? You want to nap together?
Terese brings out books she got from the book exchange. She suggests they have their own book club. Piper loves the idea and checks the books to see if any of them are underlined.
The Waterhole Exterior
Karl has a bottle of wine to celebrate his job. He tells Shane that he's looking into thee correlation of cholesterol and fertility in men over 40, but assures Shane that the data is confidential. Yashvi arrives and assumes that Karl's bought the wine to celebrate Holly's news, hoping that Karl is taking her out to dinner too. She tells Karl about the China Exchange, Karl knew about it but insists Holly didn't apply. They apologise as they thought he was up to speed, Karl replies 'apparently not'. Karl leaves, looking angry.
Number 32 Back Yard
Dipi and Mishti hug at the poolside. Leo arrives. Dipi offers to get some green tea, telling Mishti she loves her. Dipi gives Leo a hug as she leaves. Mishti says she's feeling numb, she says he didn't need to come, but he says he wanted to. She says she's fine, but he says he isn't. She apologises, but he says it isn't her fault. He tells her he thought of a few names, but she probably wouldn't have liked them.
MISHTI: I was hoping it would get your dimples.
LEO: My dimples, your eyes.
MISHTI: My eyes and my ethics.
LEO: Well, would have been gorgeous anyway.
MISHTI: Inside and out. Could have been a trainwreck too, imagine the worst of both our families put into one little body.
MISHTI: It really wasn't the right time was it?
LEO: I kinda didn't hate the idea.
MISHTI: Me either.
Number 28 Back Yard
Susan is surprised Holly didn't tell them she was applying, Holly didn't think she would get it. Susan says she's smart and emotionally intelligent, she got it because she earned it. Susan wonders if she applied because of the tension in the house. Holly assures her it wasn't. Karl arrives and asks Holly about it, because it's pub gossip now! Susan says she and Holly are discussing it now, and Karl leaps to the conclusion that Susan was behind it! Holly leaves to answer a call from her mum. Karl asks Susan why everyone on the street know before he does. Why did she do this to him?
KARL: Is this your way of repaying me after what happened with Isabelle? You want to hurt me…
SUSAN: Don't be ridiculous!
KARL: …so you send my daughter off to China when she's been here barely a month. Well done Susan, congratulations!
