- Susan gloatingly reminds Izzy that Karl chose her, and to admit defeat

Lassiter's
Izzy wakes up, smiling slightly, and looks through the windows of the hotel room. Holly emerges from the bathroom. She's found the empty vial from the hospital with Karl's name on it in Izzy's make-up bag!
HOLLY: You've done something, haven't you?!
IZZY: It's a beautiful day outside - why don't we go out for breakfast?
HOLLY: No! Not until you tell me what's going on!
Oakey
Steph and Ben arrive to see Ben's uncle Kirky (real name Dougal), his dad Drew's brother, at his garage in Oakey. He seems pleased to see Steph, whom he hasn't seen since Drew's funeral. But he doesn't recognise Ben until he introduces himself - and looks perturbed when Ben asks if they can hang out for a bit.
KIRKY: Knock yourself out, man. But I can't give you the grand tour - I'm flat out.
Steph thanks him for sending the car they've been working on, but Kirky is now acting put out by their presence, and tells them that Ben's grandparents are at the house - but that he's got to get on.
Lassiter's
Izzy has told Holly about trying to impregnate herself with Karl's sperm sample. Holly is furious, especially when Izzy tries to lay the blame on Holly for telling her about Karl's fertility trial.
HOLLY: How did you even get the sample?!
IZZY: Well, I have my ways! The trickiest part was keeping it at body temperature.
HOLLY: You are unbelievable.
IZZY: Your father wanted to help. The only thing standing in his way was Susan. This way he gets to give us what we want, without creating any tension.
HOLLY: That's how you've justified it? You steal a sample of my dad's to get pregnant, and somehow, that's a good deed?!
IZZY: I don't expect you to understand -
HOLLY: How can I?! What you have done is completely wrong. Is that even legal?
IZZY: ...
HOLLY: I'm telling dad.
IZZY: No! Why would you bother your dad and Susan? It may not even work.
HOLLY: Yeah, and what if it does? You promised you would stop playing games with them.
IZZY: This isn't a game! This is - this is my chance to give you what you deserve. A baby brother, or a sister - someone to care for. Someone to love!
HOLLY: Drop the act! This is way more about you than me, and there's no excuse for it! It's off, and we both know it!
The Waterhole
Karl and Susan are chatting to Shane and Dipi. Shane has just had the cast off his arm, and is preparing to embark on physio. Karl says it's pretty expensive, but assumes Shane has private cover. Dipi says it doesn't cover physio, and so Karl says it might cost around $100 per session.
SHANE: So it's gonna cost my right arm to fix my left?
DIPI: Don't worry, sweetie - we'll find the money.
Shane doesn't look so sure. Meanwhile, Dipi has an apology to make - she 'accidentally' told Sheila about Izzy asking Karl to father another child with her.
KARL: Oh, great (!) So every man and his dog knows?
But Susan assures Dipi that it doesn't matter - Karl has refused Izzy's offer, so it's all in the past. At that moment, Holly comes in, looking a little shaken. Karl wants her to join them, but she seems unwilling - instead asking if she can go and see Yashvi. Karl says that's fine, and Holly leaves, Susan attributing her strange mood to being a teenager.
No 32 / Oakey
Yashvi is having a kickabout with Xanthe in the garden, and telling her about her plans to get involved with an AFL team for her work experience. Toadie is keen for her to go to Essendon, but Yashvi likes the Bulldogs, Ellie Blackburn's team.
XANTHE: I've read about her! She's such an inspo!
Xanthe gets a phone call from Ben, who's struggling a bit in Oakey. While he says he's had a good time with his auntie Sally (Drew's sister) and his grandparents, he explains that Uncle Kirky is 'a complete stonewall'. Xanthe tells Ben to hang in there; he'll win Kirky over with his amazing smile.
Ben and Xanthe end the call, and Steph comes over to talk to Ben. Ben suggests they leave the garage and stop bothering Kirky. But Steph asks Kirky if he needs any help, pointing out that Ben is a garage apprentice. Kirky's not keen, saying it's easier if he works alone.
Back at No 32, Holly arrives in the garden with two random youths in tow! She has alcohol too, and has clearly been drinking. She declares that it's party time, and Xanthe and Yashvi look worried...
The Waterhole
Susan and Karl are talking to Sheila at the bar, assuring her that the rumour that Karl and Izzy will have another child is a non-starter.
SHEILA: Nothing, hey? Yep, I thought the count would be a bit low!
KARL: Well, actually, I've had tests and they show -
SUSAN: Doesn't matter, Karl!
Izzy comes in, looking flustered - she's searching for Holly.
SUSAN: In a bar?!
Izzy replies that she's looking everywhere in the complex, and asks if they've seen her. Karl rather coldly explains that they saw Holly earlier, and asks if she and Izzy have had an argument.
IZZY: No, no - just typical teenage stuff. I just like to keep tabs on her, you know?
SUSAN: Oh, since when? (!)
Karl says Holly is visiting Yashvi, so Izzy decides not to 'bust in on her fun' by going to round her up.
IZZY: Are you heading home?
KARL: Where my wife and I are going is none of your business. Now, if you'll excuse us...
No 32
Holly is taking selfies with the random male extras she's roped in for her 'party'. Yashvi tries to stop her drinking, but Holly says it's fine.
HOLLY: I party like this all the time.
XANTHE: Really? Even when you're back home?
HOLLY: Yeah, especially then. Mum has her scene, and I have mine.
YASHVI: What?! My mum's on me 24-7 and she gets angry about everything!
Xanthe reflects on her own mum, who tried to break her and Ben up and sold fake gemstones to half the street, including Karl.
HOLLY: He bought a gemstone? He doesn't even buy brand toothpaste!
In any case, Holly says, Brooke's antics are nothing compared to Izzy's.
XANTHE: Why, what has she done?
HOLLY: ... It's too crazy to even get into.
YASHVI: Well, if it's that bad, I'd use it as leverage. I'd totally milk that.
This gives Holly an idea...
The Shed
An evidently cash-strapped Shane is trying to scrounge free physio for his arm from Aaron, in exchange for house-cleaning and pool-cleaning services.
AARON: You want to take Mark's favourite hobbies away from him?
Mishti interrupts and takes Shane to one side, telling him he can't be asking for freebies. She suggests he get a part-time job to help pay for proper physio. Shane objects that he quit Harold's in order to focus on inventing, Kirsha and night school - but Mishti says that if it's putting pressure on the finances, he may need to work for a little while. Shane has an idea...
The Waterhole
We cut to Sheila showing Shane the ropes behind the bar - she says she'll put him on the roster. Shane thanks her for the opportunity. Sheila isn't in the mood for niceties.
SHEILA: All I want is for you to turn up for the shifts, work hard, and for god's sake don't break anything!
Sheila goes into the office, and Toadie, who is sitting nearby, pipes up.
TOADIE: Sheila owns you now! And she is a cruel mistress - what were you thinking?!
Shane assures Toadie it will be fine, but Sheila re-emerges to disabuse him of this notion.
SHEILA: Come on, Chuckles, move it! You're slower than a one-legged dog!
Oakey
Steph comes into the garage office, to speak to Kirky.
STEPH: Hey, look. Ben came miles to learn more about his family.
KIRKY: Look, you can see how many jobs I've got on.
STEPH: So why don't you let me take care of it, and you go give Ben what he needs?
KIRKY: It's too hard (...) Seeing him. He's got too much of Drew in him.
STEPH: Yeah, well, isn't that a good thing? It's your brother living on in his son.
KIRKY: Not when he represents everything that I took from him. If I hadn't asked Drew to break in that horse, he wouldn't have fallen. Ben'd still have a dad.
STEPH: Drew's death was an accident. Have you been carrying this guilt all these years?
KIRKY: Yeah. I still feel responsible.
STEPH: Yeah. Look, I know how it is to blame yourself. It's hard to get past. But helping someone else really does make a difference - it's why I've come up here.
KIRKY: For Ben?
STEPH: He may look all grown up. But he's still searching for that sense of self - something to anchor him.
KIRKY: And you think that's with this family?
STEPH: I do. And I really think Drew would agree.
Ramsay Street
Holly's 'party' has decamped to the street, where she's kicking Yashvi's football about with the youth extras. Xanthe and Yashvi are concerned, since Holly is 'wrecked', and try to get her back into the garden so nobody sees her. But it's too late - Susan and Karl pull up in the car. Xanthe and Yashvi try to distract the Kennedys, but they see Holly, the boys and the alcohol, and guess what's going on.
SUSAN: Have you been drinking?
An angry Karl promises to speak to Yashvi's parents about this, and drags Holly off to see Izzy.
HOLLY: Oh, like she'll care. But sure. Let's go say hi.
Holly gets into the car. Yashvi and Xanthe look contrite as Karl gives them a disappointed look.
Lassiter's
In Izzy's room, Izzy makes a half-hearted show of chastising Holly in front of the Kennedys - but it's clear she's not used to doling out discipline, and is worried about what Holly will say if she goes too far.
IZZY: You're so naughty, being such a nuisance and interrupting your dad's day.
SUSAN: That's hardly the point.
KARL: Izzy, she's been drinking! And with boys we haven't even met! And obviously we're worried - sweetheart, what's troubling you?
HOLLY: ... Actually, it's Mum.
IZZY: Holly!
HOLLY: No, it's not fair. Suddenly your donation has strings attached, and I'm getting stuck in the middle.
KARL: I knew this fighting wasn't good for her.
HOLLY: Yeah, I hate it. Give Dad the money; it's what he deserves.
SUSAN: I think we're getting a bit off-topic here!
Holly turns to Izzy, with a threatening glint in her eye.
HOLLY: If you donate the money, then I'll be happy... And you won't have to worry about me anymore.
Izzy is seething, but realises she's beaten; and desperate for Holly to keep quiet about her stealing the sperm sample, she agrees to donate the money for the hospital wing as originally agreed.
IZZY: Anything for my daughter. But I will sort it out tomorrow. I'm not even sure where the paperwork is right now.
Holly knows exactly where it is, though - and hands it straight to Izzy!
HOLLY: All you have to do is sign.
Susan and Karl watch in disbelief as Izzy signs the paperwork. Karl retrieves it from the table.
KARL: This is fantastic!
IZZY: Do you still want us to stay here?
KARL: You know I do.
IZZY: Great. That's settled, then. We'll stay.
Holly smiles; but Susan is fuming!
The Waterhole
Dipi comes in, and tells Shane that the Kennedys have been in touch with her to tell them that Yashvi was hosting a party with alcohol. Shane is worried at the thought of Yashvi boozing again; Dipi says the Kennedys didn't think Yashvi was drinking, but that she's asked her to come to Harold's to discuss it. In the meantime, she wants Shane to go home and check in on Kirsha.
Shane agrees, and once Dipi has gone, tells Sheila he needs to go home for a family emergency.
SHEILA: Oh, is somebody hurt?
SHANE: No, no, no.
SHEILA: Sick?
SHANE: No, no.
SHEILA: Trapped under heavy machinery?
SHANE: What?!
SHEILA: House on fire?
SHANE: Oh, I hope not!
SHEILA: Well, you're gonna have to stay here till the end of your shift!
Shane begs Sheila to cover for him.
SHEILA: And be late for my date with Clive? Fat chance! Find another way!
Toadie, who has been listening in, offers to go and check on Kirsha instead.
TOADIE: Don't look so glum! You caught Sheila in a good mood - wait till she really gets going!
Oakey
Ben is sitting on the garage forecourt looking angsty. Kirky comes to talk to him, and Ben's resigned to the idea that Kirky doesn't want him there. Kirky apologises for not giving him a warm welcome. Ben tells him he doesn't need to explain.
BEN: Of course it's weird me being here. I'm basically a stranger.
KIRKY: No, it's not like that mate. It's actually the opposite. It's just, you being here, man, honestly has spun me out. You remind me so much of your dad. And it's pretty full-on, mate.
BEN: I didn't realise I looked that much like him.
KIRKY: It's got nothing to do with looks. Look, I know you're here to learn more about him and your family. And I could've made that easier for you, so I'm sorry.
BEN: Sometimes I forget how hard it must be for other people. They have more memories of my dad than I do.
KIRKY: And it's our job to pass them on. There's a rust-bucket out the back. Drew wouldn't have lasted five minutes without popping the bonnet.
Steph smiles as Ben goes to help Kirky with the car.
Lassiter's
Izzy and Holly are lying on the bed, as Holly recovers from her drunkenness.
IZZY: Thanks for not telling Karl and Susan what I did.
HOLLY: Thanks for donating the money to the hospital. And for agreeing to stay.
IZZY: I know what you did. I know you set the whole thing up, and I would've done the same thing. Well played.
HOLLY: ...
IZZY: So we need to find a place to live.
HOLLY: Maybe we should pick a different suburb?
IZZY: I thought the whole idea was to stay closer to your dad and Susan?
HOLLY: I don't want to upset her. Can't we get some flash place on the river to get out of their faces?
IZZY: Why are you so concerned?! Don't we deserve to be happy too?
HOLLY: Of course. But you keep saying you won't come between them.
IZZY: I won't.
HOLLY: But what if it works? The sample - what if you really are pregnant?
IZZY: Let's just see what happens.
Harold's Café
Dipi is giving Yashvi icy looks as she cleans tables, as punishment for hosting Holly's 'party'. Xanthe comes in and speaks to Yashvi.
XANTHE: Is it okay that we're talking right now, or will my head end up in the deep fryer?
Yashvi assures Xanthe that Dipi isn't that mad, as she knows Yashvi herself didn't drink. She's still on cleaning duties for a week, though.
XANTHE: I wonder what happened to Holly?
YASHVI: It sucks to get into trouble, but at least I know my mum still cares.
XANTHE: Yeah. Imagine feeling invisible in your own family.
This reminds Xanthe to call Ben, and see how things are going with Kirky. She remarks on how good things are between her and Ben right now.
XANTHE: Actually, everything's really good full stop. I mean, I'm talking to Piper again, and Gran's obsessing over Clive and not me, and I'm on my way to becoming a midwife. And I have the most perfect boyfriend ever.
YASHVI: So why do you look like The Bold and the Beautiful just got cancelled?
XANTHE: Cos it's not fair. Kirsha can't hear, and Tyler's in prison, and Piper's fighting with her mum. Why do I get to be so happy while everyone else is so miserable?
YASHVI: Being bummed out isn't going to help anyone. You've pushed through some really hard times, and now you're in a better place. Kick back and enjoy it.
XANTHE: There's also a part of me that's scared. What if this is too good to be true?
Of course it is, Xanthe - this is Neighbours!
Oakey
Kirky is impressed with how well Ben knows his way around a garage. Ben admits that he hasn't been enjoying working back at home lately, since Mark just makes him rearrange cabinets.
KIRKY: I did that once. Found fifty bucks! Took off, went straight to the pub!
Steph comes in to tell them that Ron and Rose, Ben's grandparents, are firing up the barbie. She remarks that she's surprised at how busy the garage is. Kirky admits that he had an apprentice, but he just moved to Brisbane. He turns to Ben.
KIRKY: What about you? Fancy working together?
BEN: You mean here? In Oakey?
KIRKY: Well, you said how much you hate your current job.
BEN: Yeah, but - I've got a life in Erinsborough. A girlfriend. A family.
KIRKY: The Kennedys have been hogging you for years now! Don't you think it's time you got to know the other side of your family? Isn't that why you're here?
BEN: I can't just up and leave...
KIRKY: Why not?
