Previously on Neighbours
- Tyler confessing and being charged with manslaughter.
- Piper hoping Tyler gets a suspended sentence than jail time.
- Shane urging Kirsha to go to the deaf children event.
- Dipi going on a night out with the girls.
- Jimmy literally running into Shane, after he pushed Kirsha out of the way, and ending on the ground flat on his back.
After checking Kirsha is okay, Yashvi then pays attention to her dad. Despite Shane saying he is okay, she suggests they go to the hospital as it looks like he is in pain. Jimmy can't apologise enough and Yashvi wants to drive them to the hospital until Shane reminds her she doesn't have a licence (despite her protestations that she knows how to drive) and instead calls a taxi before calling Dipi.
Ben is trying to sort out the rota with Tyler, but he thinks it's pointless doing one as he's only got 2 more weeks of freedom (he's trying to be realistic unlike Piper).
The chat is semi curtailed as Ben takes a call and when it finishes, he tells Piper and Tyler that it was the police prosecutor - they want him to go in tomorrow to talk about his statement on the night Hamish died. Tyler tries to reassure Ben that they wanted to talk to Aaron about his statement too. Piper suggests they talk to Toadie to find out what it all means.
Ben brings Terese up to speed with the latest developments about Tyler as they set the table. The Canning's are surprised to see the table set for a celebration when they return with the fish and chips but turns out it is a celebration – Terese has heard that she is in remission.
Xanthe has taken inspiration from Terese and announces she wants to contribute to bills for the household as long as she gets a job in the hotel that is, but the only one going is a full- time housekeeper. Sheila would rather she didn't take the position and Gary would rather her go back to school but Xanthe is determined to be an adult and so wants to take the position.
After finally getting a taxi, Dipi arrives at the hospital and quickly reassures Kirsha that she wasn't to blame, despite the lassie thinking she was. Yashvi tells her mum to go find out what is wrong with Shane so that they can all start to feel better.
Toadie is round to talk to Tyler (and Piper) about the case and what sentence he might receive. On the positive side, its good Tyler confessed but given the seriousness of what happened, thinks he that the worst- case scenario might be a 2- year sentence.
“I told you,” Tyler tells Piper, but she thinks 2 years is better than 20 and wants them to make the most of the next month despite Tyler wishing it was all over already.
Dipi has found Shane and we hear how badly he's injured – a dislocated thumb and a torn tendon, which will need microsurgery. “That's the price you pay for being a hero,” she laments and tells him that Kirsha still feels she is the one to blame. Both are worried that it may make Kirsha more anxious, something they hope doesn't happen.
Lassiters Complex (next day)
Ben is nervous about having to go over his statement again as he and Xanthe walk through the complex. She is nervous too ahead of her training prior to starting her job. “You don't have to be a full- time housekeeper,” he reminds her with and doesn't want her to settle when she really wants to be a nurse. “I'm not settling, I'm moving on,” she tries to tell him and wishes him well for his interview as they part ways.
After ordering lunch (chocolate cake on a bed of chips!), Sheila chats to Piper and Tyler about how things are going and about the sentencing. To help take his mind off things, Piper suddenly rushes to a chair and stands on it and encourages Tyler to jump up on the bar! Sheila isn't amused and orders the pair down and out of the bar!
After asking Susan about her trip to London tomorrow, Ben tells his Grandma about how things went with the prosecution lawyer. “It was alright,” although he wonders why they repeatedly wanted to go over the order things happened.
They change topics and Ben tells her about Xanthe's new job when really, she should be a nurse. Susan thinks she will find her way aback to that and the door at the school is open for her if she wants to repeat Year 12, although both are unsure if enough time has passed since what happened with Finn to allow her to go back. “You can't force her Ben, it has to be her decision,” Susan reminds him.
Shane is back from surgery and now sports a bandaged hand and it's in a sling too. Dipi reassures him that the surgery went fine, and he might get released later tonight, but it means he can't accompany Kirsha to the open day. Somewhat reluctantly she agrees to go even though she won't feel good about it.
Xanthe had raided her wonky- wheeled trolley to give Ben a pressie – a tube of shampoo! He has a pressie for her too – enrolment forms for Erinsborough High and that Susan says she is most welcome back. Xanthe isn't at all enamoured at her pressie and the pair are at loggerheads over it and ultimately, she thinks he isn't respecting her decision, so rips the form up before exiting the café.
Terese spots Xanthe entering the bar and asks how the training went. “Its better than the rest of my day,” she replies then goes onto tell Terese about the fight with Ben. Terese asks that she doesn't go too hard on him, he does have her best interest at heart but adds that while the housekeeping job is great for earning some short- term money is it really the job she wants to be doing every day? “No,” Xanthe replies then adds that she'd feel like she was going backwards returning to school to enable her to become a nurse. Terese reassures her that wouldn't be the case, she'd be “working towards something that would make you feel ultimately fulfilled and happy.”
TERESE: But as you said, it is your life. I just wish everyone would live it at the fullest, with no regrets, because everything can change just like that. I mean look at Tyler's situation.
They then talk briefly about Piper before Terese resumes her message to Xanthe,
TERESE: Life's precious, don't waste it on things that you don't care about.
Dipi comes in to talk to Sheila about Kirsha and the open day, apparently, she lasted 2 seconds before wanting to leave and when they got home, the lass has locked herself in her room. She is also feeling guilty for enjoying herself with the girls, but Sheila reassures her that all parents need to let their hair down once in a while for their own sanity!
DIPI: Yes, you're right, but I guess I picked the wrong night.
Next on the crazy wish list for Piper and Tyler is padding in the new pools at the complex! “Are you sure you should be in there?” a laughing Susan asks and Piper replies “probably not” but she couldn't care because they are doing whatever they want!
The love birds disappear (Tyler giving Piper a fireman's lift) and Susan is surprised to see Ben sitting alone since he was supposed to be with Xanthe. Ben explains that he was with her until he stuffed up (like Susan warned him against doing) and she ran off on him.
BEN: I can't blame her, I came off like a complete jerk.
“No, I did,” says and newly arrived Xanthe and admits she didn't listen as she was scared – of embarrassing herself and letting everyone down. Ben reassures her that the only person that matters is her. She then admits that he was right, she does want to be a nurse and has agreed to return to school.
Number 26, Xanthe's bedroom
Xanthe is lying on her bed, with Ben, filling in the forms for going back to school and thanks Ben for not giving up on her. “I'd never do that,” he replies and listens to Xanthe sing his praises before telling her “that's what love is.”
The pair then start pashing and with aptly named “I'm ready,” playing Xanthe wants them to TITTNL™ because she is with the “guy that I love.”
XANTHE: What's more perfect than that?
BEN: As long as you're sure?
XANTHE: I want this, don't you?
Ben isn't given a chance to reply as the pair start pashing.
Jimmy is round to apologise in person to Shane and he reassures the lad it was an accident and that he is fine.
Toadie swaps places with Jimmy and apologises for not seeing his brother in the hospital, he was busy working. Shane wonders if his family are ever going to get a break and Toadie reassures him they will and that keeping positive will help.
The duo are lying in bed and they aren't exactly loved up with each other. Ben asks if Xanthe is alright and she replies fine, it's just not what she thought it would be. The pair are discussing how things went when Terese walks in on them! Cue trying to be all innocent, saying they were simply filling out forms.
TERESE: I'll let you finish.
“Today has been awesome,” Tyler declares, it's helped take his mind off things. Piper reminds him they've got a whole month to make more memories when Toadie spots them and heads over.
Toad explains that he has been speaking to the public prosecutor and there is an update to his case and that they need to go to the station because there has been a change to his bail conditions.
TOADIE: After reviewing the evidence and speaking with witnesses, they've decided to upgrade the charge from manslaughter to murder.
PIPER: What does that mean?
TYLER: I'm going to get more than 2 years, aren't I?
TOADIE: If you are found guilty, well then yes, a prison term is mandatory with the maximum sentence of life.
