Gary is sitting at a table reading a leaflet about cookery when Steph comes in and goes to the counter. Dipi is surprised to see her as she thought Steph would be preparing for the launch. Steph is doing that. The caterer has messed up the order. She's asking a big favour but she would like Dipi to cater finger food for her. Dipi is short of a member of staff and doesn't have the stock to do it. Gary comes over and offers to help out. Steph explains the stuff would need to be clean and organic. Gary has covered that in his last cooking course and has his Safe Handling certificate as well. Gary would be happy of the experience. Steph agrees as she takes a phone call. The caller wants to Steph.
Tyler and Mark are putting their bags into the car. Aaron wants to know how long Mark's suspension is for, he doesn't know. Aaron muses over the fact that Mark felt guilty about messing around with the evidence for Sonya, now he's done the same thing again. Mark points out that Tyler would be the main suspect otherwise. Tyler points out they need to get away as Mark is the main suspect. They're hoping to make headway over Louise. Aaron wishes them luck.
Mark tells Tyler not to mention the gnome before he tells Paige as she and Piper arrive. Paige wants to know where they're going first. They're going to start where Piper was found. The person who made the 000 call didn't give a name. Mark wonders if it was Louise. Piper is surprised that maybe Louise came to help her. Mark thinks it's possible as there aren't other strong leads. He'd rather do this than be idle. Piper and Tyler hug goodbye. Paige tells Mark that she found out the suspension from Leo and now they're heading off. Mark tells her he didn't want her to worry. Paige is worried and wants to know what else is happening. Mark promises to tell her more when he returns. Paige realises there is more. Mark kisses her cheek as a goodbye. Mark and Tyler drive off.
Steph is telling Sonya on the phone that she is being let off with a warning. Lyn turns up so Steph ends the call. They hug and Lyn enthuses about the place and thinks a display is lovely.
STEPH: That might be the last thing you approve of today.
Steph goes on to tell Lyn about what has happened with the caterer. Steph explains the caterer will be someone training to be a chef. Lyn thinks Steph has come up with a good solution and wonders why Steph is worrying about these things. Steph explains the West Warratah are covering a baby elephant story and not many people have replied. She hasn't filled out the sample bags for the visitors. She had planned to sort these things, she's not used to doing it by herself. She ran the motel with Paul and Amy was running the Centre with her. Lyn points out it's a good thing she's here. Steph admits about twenty people have RSVPed. Lyn promises to help boost numbers while Steph sorts out the sample bags.
Paige answers the door to Det. Graves who asks if Piper is at home. Det. Graves is invited in and he asks if they can sit down so they do on the sofa. He wants to know if Piper is able to revisit her boat ordeal. Det. Graves explains that people can remember more details if they revisit something after a traumatic event. The shock might have lessened. Piper asks what details they want to know. He prompts her by saying after she fell in she couldn't see anything.
PIPER: Everything was dark and um the waves were crashing on me and it was really cold.
Piper is crying and Paige asks if they really need to do this. Det. Graves agrees to return another time and leaves. Paige tells Piper that she doesn't have to talk to him again, even more as it seems to upset Piper. Piper says it's ok and she's tired.
Tyler asks Mark what his plan is.
MARK: I used to know exactly what to do, when to do it, when not to, but now, I don't know anymore.
Tyler wryly says that maybe Mark is turning out to be human after all! Mark thinks he's lost his way, things could have been different if he hadn't dated Steph. He was really keen to have kids but he needed to have left the issue alone. Sonya offered to be a surrogate, the breakup happened but Mark still had Caitlin. It wasn't meant to be though. Mark admits the choices after all this happened are ones he wouldn't have made before. Tyler reminds Mark that everyone deals with grief in different ways. Mark points out that it shouldn't be an excuse for law breaking. He's tried to justify these bad decisions lately but he can't. Mark has lost sight of who he is. Mark and Tyler look out to sea.
Gary has produced a few samples for people to try, they're roasted chickpeas. Toadie likes it. Steph is already impressed as Toadie usually loves pizza! Lyn asks what another sample is, it's cacao balls. Lyn suggests they could be wrapped in coconut. Gary awkwardly agrees to this and heads back to the kitchen.
Lyn shows Steph the fliers for the new and improved launch. Steph wonders what's changed, Lyn has got some practitioners to come this afternoon. They're going to set up stalls with samples. Steph points out she has already considered this but it would cost a lot of money. Lyn points out they'll spend money now and get rewards later. Lyn asks Jack to deliver the flyers around Erinsborough. Lyn goes to answer a call from a naturapath. Steph despairs to Jack about being in a financial hole before the place opens. Jack reminds Steph that Lyn is also putting herself at risk as an investor. He thinks Steph should trust Lyn.
Mark and Tyler are sitting on some low cliffs looking out to sea. Mark thinks they should make a move. Tyler apologises but Mark waves the apology away. Tyler wishes he had supported Mark instead of being involved with Hamish. Mark understands why Tyler acted the way he did. Tyler liked having a father who cared for him after suffering abuse from Russell for many years. He's only recently realised how much he needed this. They wouldn't be in this mess if Tyler hadn't believed everything Hamish said. Tyler thanks Mark for everything. They get up and walk away.
Gary produces the cacao balls that are now rolled in coconut. He's going to wait a few minutes for more guests to arrive before he hands them around. (There doesn't seem to be any guests yet.) Steph apologises for Lyn interfering but Gary brushes it off. Lyn asks when the hot food is arriving, Gary explains there isn't any hot food. With short notice he couldn't work out the temperature and he didn't want to risk the guests getting ill. Lyn is happy with this. Lyn asks Jack if he's given out the flyers, Jack has even to Eden Hills. Jack says that people were interested in coming. Steph points out that interest and showing up are different things, Jack is more confident. Lyn suggests Toadie and Steph go outside to see what's happening, Lyn can deal with things inside.
Paige comes in with Gabe to find Jack at the bar. She asks Jack why he isn't at the launch, he's getting ice. Paige might go if Gabe is in a better mood, he has been grizzly. Jack asks if Paige has been down because of that, Paige is surprised that Jack has noticed. Paige admits that Mark is being secretive, moody and erratic which is causing issues. Jack admits he tried asking Mark what was happening but Mark wouldn't tell him. Jack confesses that he told Mark that until he sorts things out he should stay away from Paige and Gabe. Paige can't believe what she is hearing and wants to know Jack's reasons. Paige tells Jack that after they sorted some issues Mark wanted to slow things down a few hours later, Mark is shutting her out now. (Gabe is now crying.) Jack tells Paige that he's doing this to protect Gabe. He points out when Steph had a relapse Paige did the same thing. Paige has admitted that Gabe is not acting like himself. Paige admits that Mark is suspended from work. Jack asks why this has happened. He then asks Paige if she thinks Mark was actually involved in Hamish's death. Paige believes Mark is innocent. Jack advises Paige to stay away from Mark until this is all over.
Det. Graves has come in and asks to speak to Aaron who is sitting at a table. Det. Graves explains he tried contacting Tyler and Mark but they've unavailable. Aaron and Tyler's boat has been found at Port Albert past Wilson's Prom. They couldn't see Louise anywhere.
Flametree Retreat (Outside)
There are stalls with people milling around them. Steph is enthusing to Toadie that it's just begun and so many people have turned up. Karl is pleased with the gift bag and some cheap cream. Toadie jokes it could be Susan's Christmas present, Karl thinks it might be a stocking filler!
Dipi comes over to enthuse about the food that Gary has produced in this small amount of time. Karl asks about the chocolate bars, Steph silence him with a frown. Dipi is heading to a session, Karl wonders if it's free. Steph tells him that everything is free! Steph admits that she was stressing over everything and Lyn has sorted it all out. Toadie comments that maybe Steph and Lyn as a team are perfect!
Steph gives a speech to open the Flametree Retreat. People can come for one treatment or even stay for a whole week. Steph admits there have been some false starts along the journey. She thanks Jack, Toadie and Sonya for all their help. (Sonya can't be there.) Steph looks around for Lyn. Lyn calls out from somewhere that she's having a massage so everyone laughs. Amy has turned up so Steph thanks her as well for getting things going. Everyone claps at the end of the speech. A few people go up to hug Steph but Amy hangs back.
Tyler comes across something covered. He uncovers it with his foot, it's a can. Tyler tells Mark that Piper found one of these in the bush so she might have been near this spot. Mark's phone rings, it's Aaron on the other end. Mark asks Aaron to repeat whatever he said, the reception is iffy where they are. Mark asks where it was found. Mark realises that Louise had sailed right past where they are. Mark thanks Aaron for the information and hangs up. Mark tells Tyler Louise left the boat in Port Albert, she wouldn't have come ashore to this point. Tyler comments it was always a slim chance she was here. Mark wants to wait it out as the police are on Louise's trail. Mark points out that Tyler wouldn't gain anything by admitting to things before they find Louise. Mark tells Tyler they can figure out what to do when Louise is found. They should leave things to the police until then.
Flametree Retreat (Outside)
Steph thanks Gary for helping them out today. As Steph doesn't have anyone to run the kitchen yet, Gary suggests himself. Steph thought he was studying at TAFE. Gary explains it's not full- time. He admits that serving hot cuisine at Lassiters didn't go brilliantly this week but this place is perfect for him. It's simple and awesome. Steph is impressed and agrees to take him on. Gary heads off.
Elly heads over to talk to Steph whilst bringing Amy (probably deliberate on Elly's part.) Elly then excuses herself straight away to get a goody bag. Amy tells Steph how proud she is of the way she's pulled everything together. Steph admits she missed Amy in the time leading to the launch. Steph jokes about Toadie's shelf putting up skills not being great. Amy asks how things are going with Lyn. Steph is pleased, they're going better than she thought they would, Amy is glad. Steph is appreciative of all Amy did to help. Steph apologises that things didn't go as planned for them opening the Retreat together, Amy agrees with this. Steph comments about Amy spending time with Elly. Amy admits she can only spend so much time chasing Pokemon! Amy suggests they meet up for a coffee. They hug and agree to the coffee.
Piper comes over as Mark and Tyler pull up in the car in the No24 driveway. Piper has heard what Aaron told them and Louise didn't stop and help her. Tyler hopes Louise will be found. Paige sees Mark as she walks down the Street but she keeps walking.
Lyn has just finished a call at the wooden desk. She hails Steph as she comes in, she's hardly seen her. Steph explains that she has been busy. Lyn has got enough bookings to cover the practitioners and this afternoon. Steph wonders why she doubted Lyn! Lyn admits that risks don't always work. Steph points out that it worked this time, she doesn't know how she would have coped if she didn't have Lyn. Lyn wants to know why Steph didn't tell her she was in trouble, she would have been here sooner. Steph wanted to prove she was able to do it by herself. Lyn wryly thinks Steph wanted to prove it to Lyn. Steph worried about Lyn having too much control.
LYN: The only control I need is a decent girdle.
Steph and Lyn both laugh. Lyn admits she has a lot of free time and she wants to spend a lot of time with Steph. Lyn wants to help Steph build her business. Steph thanks Lyn and will be willing to listen to her ideas in the future. Lyn starts talking about an amazing re- birthing therapist, Steph isn't keen to hear about all of Lyn's ideas! They laugh together.
Mark comes to sit with Paige who is sitting in the backyard. He asks where Gabe is, he's asleep. Mark apologises for being all over the place. Paige tells him that she thinks it's time to break up. The only alternative to breaking up would be to talk about the issue that is unspoken. The stuff she is imagining is very scary. Mark insists he hasn't done anything she would be scared of. Paige knows he's in trouble though. She thinks it's about Tyler and Hamish though she originally thought it was about Sonya. Paige reminds him he's meant to tell her all of it. Mark tells her he's not able to tell her now. Paige points out before now they have had secrets, she doesn't think she can do this if that's the case. Mark tells Paige she's the one constant good thing and he's able to rely on her.
PAIGE: It's all just words Mark.
MARK: I promise you will know everything soon enough.
He tells her it would be too much if she and Gabe left his life. He tells her he loves her and asks her to stay with him. Now he needs her more than any other time.
