- Toadie is thinking about getting an Eclipse apartment. Amy is confused that he wants to move out of Ramsay Street.
- Sonya finds out that Toadie is thinking of getting his own place.
- Piper has been doxxed. Xanthe is not happy about some of the stuff she reads that concerns her.
- Paul tells Terese to focus on her recovery.
- Gary asks Piper and Tyler if Terese might be drinking again.
- Terese confesses to Gary that she has cancer.
Terese explains to Piper and Gary that the first test was a false negative. She's had one chemo already. She didn't want to tell Gary in case he freaked out again. Just then Paige comes in and notices the silent, tense atmosphere.
PAIGE: What's going on?
Dipi is moaning about Clancy while everyone tries to get ready for the school day. The dog has eaten Willow's physics text book.
Gary is telling Sheila and Xanthe about Terese's cancer. Xanthe asks after Piper, but won't go back to school as she can't face the other kids.
Steph has come to talk to Terese about her condition as she has been there after all. Steph says that Paul has been through it too and might be a good support.
Piper heads off to school and tells Paige to look after Terese in the meantime. Paige gives Terese a stress- relief doll.
Xanthe comes in, wearing her school uniform. Piper just looks at her and then they hug.
PIPER: Thank you.
They head off.
Yashvi tells Willow that her fake ID making etc is old news - Xanthe and Piper are far more newsworthy(!) Ben isn't impressed. Willow wants to find Elly to apologise for her previous behaviour.
They start talking about Yashvi and Evan going on a date, so she walks off.
Further down the corridor, Wayne is moaning to Susan that Piper defamed him about his body odour. Susan tells him to act professionally and get on with it.
Xanthe and Piper arrive and Susan greets them, telling them that she's proud of them for turning up. She advises them to stick together.
PIPER:(to Xanthe) If I can do it, you can do it!
They walk in to school.
Paige and Courtney are hanging out when Jasmine Udagawa arrives, demanding to see Terese. Paige covers for Terese regarding the appartments, then tells Jasmine that Courtney is the new day spa manager(!) Jasmine is not impressed at being out of the loop, but seems slightly mollified.
Steph and Paul chat about supporting Terese. Toadie comes in and Dipi makes him a coffee (he's been out to buy Willow a new text book). He tells her he's going to view an apartment for himself, but she doesn't think he should be in a hurry to move our of No.32 - they love having him around, and Willow and Nell too.
Willow tells Ben and Yashvi about her dream to be a fighter pilot. Yashvi is stirring about Xanthe and Piper again. Ben goes over to see Xanthe and tries to be kind to her (but it doesn't come off too well!)
Terese is confused that Jasmine has met the "new day spa manager". Paige explains that she was only trying to get Jasmine off Terese's back, but Courtney insists that she's fully qualified and more than up to the job. Terese reluctantly says she can have a three month trial.
Jack is also there and offers to put the kettle on. Terese isn't mad with Paige, and thanks her for keeping Jasmine at bay. She doesn't want to tell the Udagawas about her illness in case they question her reliability.
PAIGE: OK then, your PA needs to be a better gatekeeper.
TERESE: My PA needs to be better, full stop.
PAIGE: Well, why can't I help?
TERESE: Because you need to concentrate on this gorgeous little thing.
She looks down on Gabe in his cot.
PAIGE: Yep, but I am home most of the time. I mean, I don't see why I can't answer some of your phone calls when you're asleep, or your emails...
TERESE: Paige, you're only going to be a first- time mum once in your life. I want you to enjoy every minute.
PAIGE: Sure, but the thing is...not all the minutes are filled with joy. Most of it's quite boring.
JACK: I'm happy to do Daddy day- care.
PAIGE: See? Gabe's going to be fine.
TERESE: You really want to help?
PAIGE: Mm- hmm.
TERESE: OK, I accept. But make sure you tell me the minute it gets too much.
PAIGE: Yes, yes, I promise!
(So let me get this straight. Paige is going to take on a full- time job that she has no experience or qualifications for, and Jack is going to babysit his own child)
Gary is brooding. Sheila suggest that Gary talks to his father's ashes and leaves him alone with them.
GARY:(to the jar, awkwardly). Hi, Dad. I guess you already know what's going on with Terese. I can't say I'm not hurt. Kept it to herself. But...I sort of lost my bundle the first time and who wants to see a grown man cry, eh?
He picks up the jar.
GARY: Maybe it's like she said. i've had this tunnel- vision think about Xanthe. Wouldn't have known if the world was ending while I've been caught up with that. The worst part is, I sort of wonder if she was right not to tell me. Because now that I know, all I can think about is losing her.
His voice breaks.
GARY: She's the best thing that's ever happened to me, Dad. The love of my life.
GARY: If she dies...
He gets himself together.
GARY: But I can't think that way. Terese needs me. I have to be strong.
Someone has put up a joke jar labelled "Xanthe and Mr Kelly's travel fund". Xanthe is about to run from the room, but just then Piper arrives, saying that she's been talking to a very upset Imogen on the phone. Xanthe suggests that they go for a walk, but Piper says they'll be fine, they'll just sit at the back of the room.
Paul has brought Terese a "cheer- up" package and sits down for a chat.
PAUL: Terese, I need you to know that I am there for you, whatever you want or need. OK?
She nods, gratefully.
TERESE: You know, you know me in a way that nobody else does. I just...I just feel scared. You know, what if the treatment doesn't work? What if I go through all this torture and it's just a failure?
Paul takes her hand.
PAUL: No, listen to me. That isn't going to happen, OK? Gosh, if anybody can beat this thing, it's you. I know that. Come on, hmm?
Gary is replacing his father's urn when Terese comes in.
GARY: I just...I just want you to know, whatever happens, I'm here for you.
TERESE: There's just so much going on for me right now emotionally, and I just feel like I'm drifting into dangerous territory. And it's made me think about us - the engagement.
GARY: You want to postpone the wedding?
TERESE: No! No, no, the opposite, I wnat to bring it forward. How about October?
Gary is delighted.
GARY: What about your treatment?
TERESE: I'll deal with it! I just feel like I need to hang on to something. Something certain, something the I know is going to be good for me. There's so much going on for me that's beyond my control, but the one thing that I know I that I *can* control is my happiness. And nothing would make me happier than marrying my man.
GARY: For real?
TERESE: There's no doubt in my mind. I love you, Gary.
GARY: We're getting married!
TERESE: We're getting married.
He kisses her and gives her a hug. However, she does not look wholly convinced.
Willow tells Toadie that school was fine because the kids' focus was on Piper and Xanthe. Toadie asks about her previous crush, then shows her the brochure about Eclipse Apartments.
WILLOW: Can I ask you something? Am I the only reason you're getting a new place?
TOADIE: No. No, no, no. No. This apartment is going to be great.
Wayne is still moaning on about Piper and Susan tells him to just stop reading the stuff online.
Xanthe is looking through her bag and finds an old report card from Finn. She gets upset and runs out, crying.
