- Ellen confirming to Mark that Dee was declared dead at the inquest.
- Mark looking through some of Dee's belongings to get a DNA sample done.
- Toadie explaining to Sonya he's helping Dee make a claim on the family estate.
- Sonya thanking Mark for his help getting her through Dee's reappearance.
- Victoria inviting Steph back to her place.
- Tyler/Piper booking a room at Robinsons but being thrown out by Paul because her mum wouldn't like it.
- Brad telling his daughter to go home but she replies that isn't her home.
- Leo letting Tyler/Piper stay at the backpackers and that he can put up with the flack it's likely to create.
Steph can see that Sonya is still stressed out and asks if she wants to play the ‘pregnant card' to get out of a forthcoming social engagement, but Sonya thinks its “un- Australian” to do so, so will soldier on. Sonya admits that the Dee situation is getting to her and Steph tries to reassure her that anything they did have is in the past and reminds Sonya she is the one who has a child with Toadie, not Dee. Steph comments that if she got to know Dee, she'd really like her and Sonya replies that is if it is Dee…
After being unamused at the note Piper left saying she was moving out, Terese comes calling to demand that Piper returns home, especially as school starts tomorrow. Piper isn't changing her mind and is adamant that they will make things work.
PIPER: I'm going to prove you wrong.
Terese then turns her attention to Leo but he just thinks it is part of the games that they are playing with each other!
TERESE: I hope you realise this is war!
LEO: Bring it!
Dee is regaling the others (Toadie, Sonya, Karl and Susan) with tales of having to catch her own supper on the farm which leads to Sonya rushing to the bathroom!
Steph spots Victoria sitting at the bar (she's been stood up again) and invites her to join the others.
Sonya returns from the bathroom and Mark makes a beeline for her when he enters the pub (they're standing at the bar rather than being at the table with the others). He reassures her that she isn't the only one having doubts about Dee especially as they can't personally talk to Emily as apparently she has some severe phobia, so they've only been able to talk to her over the phone. He confides in her that he's managed to obtain some of Cecile's DNA (she was involved in a medical trial just before her death) and plans on getting a sample from Dee for comparison.
Aaron and Mark come visiting Tyler to express their annoyance that he simply moved out rather than talking to them. Tyler explains they got the offer so had to take it but both brothers feel by doing that, they've made things worse and don't wish to see Piper (or him) destroy the relationship she has with her parents.
Sheila calls time and it's a good thing too because Victoria is somewhat inebriated and Steph has to stop her from falling over when she tried to stand up! Somewhat unsteadily, she heads to the toilet and Steph takes their glasses to the bar and doesn't particularly like Victoria being referred to as her “girlfriend” but Sheila clarifies that she just means a female friend like Piper/Xanthe. Sheila asks Steph to chivvy Victoria up as she wants to lock up, so Steph walks towards the toilet and knocks on the door asking if Victoria is okay. Suddenly, Victoria appears and pushes Steph against the wall and starts kissing her! It's a very one- sided kiss and Steph can't get Victoria off her quick enough!
STEPH: Please stop.
VICTORIA: I have wanted to do that all night.
“Oh my god,” Steph replies and hastily moves away and before leaving the bar, tells Sheila to “call my friend a taxi.”
Dee and Toadie are reminiscing as he walks her back to her unit. She asks what he looks back on the most and his reply is that he tries not to.
DEE: Do you ever wonder what could have been if things were different?
Toadie gets upset and starts apologising for not looking for her longer. She tells him that he's “nothing to feel guilty about” whilst tenderly stroking his face before Toadie quickly decides it's time to go home.
It's late as Toadie creeps into bed but Sonya isn't asleep. He explains why he's late (walking Dee home) and remarks she should have stayed at the pub as it was fun. “It looked like you were having fun,” she replies and is rebuked with a “come on Sonya,” from her husband. She apologises and not just for the comment too, but for going through his box of Dee things confessing that she, like Mark, is suss. Toadie isn't as he is coming round to Karl's thinking that it's the brain injury that is causing the changes.
Resplendent in their new school uniform, Piper brings Ben up to date about her new living accommodation as they make their way towards the building. He's shocked to hear she has moved out of the family home but at least he isn't furious unlike her dad who meets them just as they enter.
BRAD: I'm so over this rebellion of yours. It's not smart, it is not brave alright, it's just you refusing to accept no for an answer.
Susan intervenes and he explains to her why he's upset, so she sends the kids on their way to class to have a chat with Brad.
The pair head outside and she points out that the school isn't the place for family arguments. He tries to explain that's the only place he will see Piper and while Susan is sympathetic, doesn't think there is much he can to do force the issue given that she is 17.
BRAD: I just can't believe it's come to this.
Mark calls by to get a DNA sample from Dee so they can have her declaration of death ruling from the coroner overturned. She is somewhat surprised at the request especially since there is nothing to compare it to, until Mark explains that they have. Dee heads into her room to dump her laundry and when she returns, forgoes getting a cheek swab taken, instead pulling a hair out and placing it in the bag instead.
As he goes to leave, Mark is bemused to see Victoria walk past him.
Terese has arrived to talk to Brad about Piper and explains her games theory to him. Brad now decides that Piper can play at being a grown up as he thinks reality will make things fizzle out quicker than pressure from them.
TERESE: So what starve her out?
BRAD: In a way, yes.
Somewhat reluctantly, Terese agrees to his plans but probably more because she doesn't “have any better suggestions.”
Steph is servicing one of the rooms when Victoria enters it to apologise to her but before any more is said, she does a runner into the bathroom when Mark knocks on the door.
Mark enters and explains to Steph why he is round… and that he could be persuaded to take a break but she suggests delaying that until she finishes her shift! His curiosity is getting the better of him (about the ‘do not disturb' sign Dee has hanging on her door) and asks if that is unusual. Steph agrees it is but doesn't think too much about it, however when he mentions seeing Victoria at the motel, she lies about why she is there and suggests he leaves so she can finish work and the sooner they can get together!
Toadie is in professional lawyer mode as he runs through what is needed to do for Dee to make a claim on the Bliss estate, which apparently is around $500,000. However, her attention is more drawn to Nell and Sonya and when the meeting with Toadie finishes, volunteers to accompany Sonya/Nell to daycare as a way of getting to know each other better. There isn't much Sonya can say but “yes” to the suggestion.
Piper calls by to tell Tyler about what happened at school with her dad and hopes that Susan's talk will have worked so they can go home. Tyler earns his boss' wrath when a basket of fresh laundry ends up on the floor as he kissed Piper. Breaking apart, she apologises to Leo for her mum's actions but he's not fussed and sees them moving in as perfect revenge. Piper is unamused but Leo makes it clear that if she's not happy, they can leave at any time.
Piper drops by to see Clementine, thinking that nobody would be home but Terese is. The pair come to an agreement that the cat can stay and Piper can visit at any time to see her.
Dee gets straight to the point when they return from dropping Nell at daycare to say she knows Sonya doesn't like the idea of her being there for a while. Sonya looks caught unawares by this admission and agrees that things aren't easy. The conversation is then temporarily interrupted with Mark dropping by looking for Steph but she's not home and he goes to head to the motel instead.
Resuming their conversation, Dee is full of praise for what Sonya is doing for Mark and Steph, wanting to know how she and Toadie are doing it because not many couple could survive a surrogacy.
Victoria can't but keep apologising to Steph as she continues to service the unit, explaining that she woke up sober and feeling guilty.
VICTORIA: I shouldn't have kissed you.
VICTORIA: But you kind of let me kiss you.
STEPH: You took me by surprise.
VICTORIA: Ever since that day at the restaurant, I've felt an overwhelming attraction between us.
STEPH: Well, you shouldn't have acted on it.
VICTORIA: I lost control last night. Please, I don't want you… I don't want you to hate me.
Mark arrives at the motel and finds the door to Dee's unit partially open and calls out to ask if Steph is inside but the door is slammed shut on him! Getting into police mode, he knocks on the door calling out “open up,” but nobody responds although when he walks off, the curtain twitches.
Meanwhile in the unit Steph and Victoria are in, Steph is reconfirming that both she/Mark are committed to the surrogacy especially now a baby is on its way. “A baby you asked Sonya not to have,” Victoria points out.
STEPH: Yes well it's still coming. I can't really abandon Mark now or Sonya.
VICTORIA: Am I, like, imagining this?
STEPH: Now is not really the time for me to get cold feet and cheat on my fiancé.
Both jump when Mark arrives calling out Steph's name and when he enters the unit, Victoria quickly grabs her bag and says she needs to leave.
Mark tells Steph of his suspicion that there is someone in Dee's room – he just saw her at #30 and when he got to the motel, the door was to her unit was open and he called out Steph's name, thinking that she was in the room, but the door was quickly closed. Steph is bemused as she thinks she is the only one there and they head to Dee's unit to check it out. However, before they go, Mark wants to know what Victoria was doing here and Steph explains she was counselling her.
- Sonya unloading things to Mark as they sit by the Yarra River.
- Toadie trying to reassure his wife things will go back to normal as soon as the estate is sorted out.
- Lauren urging Steph to come clean with Mark.
- Dee thinking it would have been easier if she'd never came back.
- Mark about to say what the DNA test has said.
