As he comes off the phone Sonya asks if he's taking the day off. Toadie points out that Aaron is doing the same as he's got the backpacker launch. There is an awkward pause before Sonya wonders what Toadie and Dee might be doing today. Toadie thinks the plan might be to hang out, talk and go to Harold's. They're getting to know each other again. Sonya suggests he finds out what Dee wants. Toadie reassures Sonya that Dee wants closure. Sonya tells him she had the ultrasound and she hadn't had the energy to talk to him about it. Toadie asks how it went. Sonya reassures him everything is fine with the baby who is healthy. Mark is hoping that there's some fingerprints or DNA samples they can use to confirm her identity. Ellen tells Mark to deal with the robberies and she'll look into the inquest file.
ELLEN; The Rebecchis were very good to my daughter when she was seeing Callum. I'm happy to do the favour.
Mark thanks her and they head off.
Karl and Susan greet Toadie and look at him expectantly. Toadie realises they've heard and Susan realises it's true. Susan asks how Toadie is. Toadie says he is (though he's looking rather dazed.) He says he's taking it minute by minute. Toadie offers for them to see Dee and Karl asks if Dee remembers them. Toadie confirms Dee does remember them. Karl thinks they've got enough to talk about but Toadie thinks it will be good for Dee to see familiar faces. He tells them he and Dee will be at Harold's if Karl and Susan want to see her. Karl and Susan agree to this.
Dee is locking the door as Steph comes over. Dee's happy with everything and thanks Steph for organising it all. Steph reminds Dee to flick the sign so the room will be cleaned. Dee wants to clean it herself, it sounds silly but she's been funny about people touching her stuff since the accident. Steph says she understands. Steph explains she went through the same thing and was in hospital. They have a lot to catch up on! Dee asks after Lyn, Steph says she's great and living in Bendigo. She's doing well and has a little cafe there. Dee asks if any of Steph's family are around, Steph confirms that Toadie is like family. Once she is married to Mark, he will be as well. Dee comments that Mark seems nice. Dee asks if they plan any kids. Steph says it's too heavy to talk about now but she will tell her. Toadie will tell Dee all the big stuff. Dee is going to wait out the front but they agree to have a proper catchup later with wine! Steph says she's missed Dee and they hug. Dee has missed Steph as well. Steph tearfully says she can't believe Dee is back.
Leo is telling Aaron about a place in Darlinghurst.
LEO: The swag included vodka out of glass skulls and the staff wore underwear made out of candy.
Aaron jokes his cotton t- shirts won't be the same! Leo wants to give the guests a unique experience and they go back and tell others. Aaron reminds Leo that people are already talking about it and he hasn't posted about Warnie's appearance yet. Leo is impressed how Aaron managed it so quickly. Aaron modestly says it's what he does. Leo apologises, he's not usually so nervous, other people usually stress. Aaron tells him to relax and take some deep breaths. Aaron realises he can smell something, Leo thinks it's the smell of success. It's not, Aaron is wondering what it is when Sheila comes in with rubber gloves on and a plunger, the toiletsare backed up. She's contacted the plumber who isn't servicing The Waterhole anymore. He's signed a new exclusive contract with the Erinsborough Backpackers. Leo points out he was underpaid and undervalued, it was easy to get him to switch over.
SHEILA: Now I am knee deep in dirty porcelain because I can't get another plumber until tonight.
Leo is unconcerned. Sheila goes off in despair!
Toadie and Dee are sitting at a table. Toadie comments Dee probably remembers it as The Coffee Shop. Dee agrees and is glad Harold has left his mark. Toadie explains that his office is next door, he spends too much time in here! Dee thinks she's been talking all about herself for 24 hours and wants to hear about his life. Dee wants to know more about Sonya. Toadie asks if it will be weird and painful. Dee agrees it will be painful, it's natural he's fallen in love again. Dee asks how Sonya gets on with Angie, they both laugh. Toadie reassures Dee that Sonya finds Angie as annoying as Dee did and they both laugh. Dee comments that Angie's living in Colac, past the roadhouse. Toadie agrees she's still bossing everyone around as well as Toadie.
DEE: It's amazing how far those apron strings will stretch.
TOADIE: In some ways you're exactly the same.
Dee agrees he is as well. He looks better and healthier. Toadie points out it's a polite way of saying he used to look like his namesake! Dee denies this. He was always perfect in her eyes. She's happy he's made such a wonderful life for himself.
Susan and Karl arrive and are stunned to see Dee sitting there. She greets them by name and they say hi and continue to look stunned.
Paul and Terese are by the bar. Paul is saying to Terese that it's interesting that Leo's launching the place whilst it's still being constructed. Terese points out it could be the first stage in a tier marketing strategy. Paul points out that between and Leo opening the doors, anything could happen. Delays and budget blowouts could happen. Terese comments they can only hope!
Sheila arrives behind the bar to tell them the ladies loos are blocked again. She's just phoned three different plumbers. Terese asks what's happened to the regular guy. Sheila tells them that Henry doesn't work for them anymore, he's defected to Leo's camp. He wasn't being respected by Terese apparently. Terese points out he gets paid if he fixes a pipe. Sheila is looking forward to her bonus this afternoon! Terese will call the plumber now. She looks at her phone and sees that Warnie is coming to Erinsborough from Aaron's tweet about the launch. Terese angrily wonders how they were able to get Warnie to appear.
Susan and Karl have joined Toadie and Dee at the table. Susan asks if Emily is with Dee now but Dee says she isn't. Dee explains that she needed to do this by herself as she's been so dependent on Emily. They still live together in Perth. Dee exclaims how good it is to see them both and exclaims about Susan's hair and how much she's changed. Susan comments that everything about Dee is exactly the same. Dee knows how hard it is for Toadie. She's not here to cause trouble for Toadie and Sonya.
Ben arrives and Karl introduces him as their grandson, Dee realises that he is Libby's son. Ben asks if she knows Libby. Dee agrees she knew her a long time ago plus Drew whom was a good man. Dee asks if Libby's in Erinsborough. Ben explains that Libby is teaching in China and Karl explains Ben's staying with them whilst she's away. Dee asks after Mal and Billy. Susan explains that Mal lives in London and married with a baby. Billy lives in Queensland with his wife Anne and their three kids.
DEE: I just can't imagine your house without a bunch of teenagers running riot.
Everyone laughs. Ben jokes he tries to go wild sometimes, Elly tries to as well. Dee is trying to remember about Elly. Susan prompts that she's her niece, Elly Conway. She's grown up and still manages mischief and is living at No.28 as well. Dee thinks she'd recognise Elly if she saw her. Susan is sure they lived on the street at the same time, also friends with Michelle Scully and Tad. Dee struggles to remember Tad. .Toadie explains Tad, Tadpole, Wayne Reeves is his cousin. Dee apologises, explaining it's frustrating to have these blanks. She's not able to access this bank of memories. Dee suggests they tell her about them. Susan looks warily at Dee.
We see the outside of the place for the first time. Leo is showing Elly where the veggie garden will go outside. If they tend to it the backpackers will be able to use the produce. Elly is impressed. Elly asks what the guys outside the building are doing. Leo explains they're installing the dorm rooms out back. Elly asks about the big shed next to where they are. It will be a common area for people to cook meals and hang out. Elly comments that he's put in a kitchen. Leo explains there's a lot of stuff to make people feel comfortable.
LEO: A cosy homey feel equals good reviews.
Elly knew he knew how to manage bars and clubs. This is showing good management skills. He enjoyed the clubbing scene but now he feels he's doing something worthwhile. Gary arrives and admires the place. Gary heard about it from Terese and Leo checks if Gary's snooping for Terese. Gary promises he's not snooping and is actually looking for work. Leo says there will be cleaning available when they're open in a few weeks. Gary was hoping for something sooner and leaves. Leo takes Elly to show her inside the place.
Steph arrives and greets Mark at the bar. She's glad to see him and he agrees. Steph suggests meeting for lunch and Mark admits it's not a great day for that. He has a lot to do. Steph keeps on at him, suggesting it's an engagement celebration. It won't happen if they don't do it now. With the Dee stuff there's been lots of tension. Mark agrees.
Ellen arrives. She says that Josie mentioned that Steph helped Victoria get her car back on the road. Steph was happy to do it. Ellen hands a sheet of information over to Mark, saying she hopes it will help him. She heads off. Steph asks what it's meant to help. Mark explains it's the inquest into Dee's death. Steph reassures Mark that Dee's genuine and earlier they spoke at the hotel. Dee speaks and looks the same. Mark reminds her that he needs to investigate it for Sonya. Steph asks if it's not for Toadie as well. Mark insists it's for them both.
Aaron comes to tell Leo about Xanthe's tweet. Xanthe says the tweet says #Pineapple Mexican Flag. Aaron isn't sure what it means but he is sure she liked their last post. Leo points out it also needs to be liked by potential backpackers. Aaron reassures Leo they will like it. Paul and Terese have arrived and are looking around the place.
PAUL: We just thought we'd pop in, see what failure looks like.
LEO: But you see it every day at Robinson's!
Paul laughs wryly and points out his motel isn't really a failure. Leo says it will be once his place corners the low budget market. Aaron heads off to check on things. Terese comments he seems to be getting on with things. Leo agrees it's getting things done. Terese wants to know if he's ready for his big launch. Leo is and invites them to the launch to learn a thing or two. He sends them on their way but Paul says they'll be there plus others drawn by Warnie. Those fans won't then be customers. Paul says that Leo will have to find out the hard way that publicity stunts won't work. Leo isn't phased.
Susan and Karl are walking hand in hand. Susan can't quite put her finger on it but something is different about Dee. Karl reminds her they last saw Dee over ten years ago. They're not the same people either and Susan agrees. Karl points out Dee has had a traumatic brain injury. It's possible Dee has picked up Emily's traits. Not remembering Elly is understandable as they didn't see each other very much. It's odd though not to remember Tad. Karl comments that with a brain injury memory loss is common. Susan agrees she suffered an injury when she fell in the kitchen, but there wasn't long term memory loss. Karl reminds her she took a while to recover. Dee's injury being more severe than Susan's is quite likely. There was no medical intervention. They're not able to compare apples and oranges, everyone is different.
Dee and Toadie are now sitting by themselves. Toadie offers Dee another drink but she's fine. She actually has a headache. He offers her some painkillers from the office but she refuses, saying it'll pass. She explains since the accident she's had quite a few headaches. Toadie apologises for not telling her about Karl and Susan, wondering if it was too soon. Dee admits it was overwhelming being here and seeing things from her past. Toadie suggests they leave and go for a walk around the neighbourhood. Memories might come back. Dee is happy to agree.
Everyone (including Elly, Paul and Terese) are waiting for the launch. Aaron starts gearing them up for Warnie's appearance and everyone claps. Leo comes in thanks them for coming to the launch of Erinsborough Backpackers. He gives a speech about the place. He says the special guest will be joining them as a regular resident as soon as the venture is open. Leo welcomes Warnie the wombat whom is brought in by his handler. Everyone cheers as Paul and Terese try not to look too surprised. Everyone crowds round to look at Warnie.
Mark arrives looking for Sonya, who calls out that she is inside. She can't concentrate on work so she's cleaning instead. Mark gives her some cleaning tips. She can't stop obsessing about Toadie and Dee's meeting. What they're doing and talking about, what Dee's expecting. Mark offers to take the stress off her. He tells her he's got a copy of the inquest into Dee's death. Sonya isn't sure why he's done that. He explains he wants to familiarise himself with the circumstances. He'll be prepared to catch her out if she's a fraud. Sonya asks if Mark doubts it's her. Mark explains that every house and coastline within 50k was searched for days. Sonya reminds him that Dee could have been missed. Mark tells her the case will need to be reopened, Dee's version of events will be looked into. They'll need to talk to elusive Emily as well. Sonya also wants to hear Emily's story. Mark reminds her that DNA testing is the only thing that will prove if it really is Dee. Mark asks if Toadie kept anything of Dee's. Sonya says there's a shoebox of some of her things but they'd need to ask Toadie. Mark asks Sonya what Toadie would say. Sonya doesn't think Toadie's in the right frame of mind to understand why he's being asked that. Sonya doesn't think there will be anything in there. Why do they need to bother asking him if there's nothing in there? They go to get the shoebox. We see a message from Toadie on Sonya's phone saying he's bringing Dee home in a bit.
Mark isn't sure how likely it is they'll find something going by how old the stuff in the box is. Toadie and Dee arrive home. Toadie sees the box and asks what they're doing going through that. Mark wants to find something that contains a sample of Dee's DNA. Sonya mentioned the box. Toadie tells Sonya she didn't have a right to do this and asks if they've taken anything. Mark confirms they haven't. Dee realises they need a DNA sample to prove she is Dee but she doesn't know what to suggest if there's nothing in the box. Mark suggests contacting a family member. Dee explains they're all dead. Toadie mentions he knows about her parents, but is she sure?
