- Paul is sentenced to 18 years in prison
- John tells Paige hes been having recurring memories of being in a boiler room
- Piper invites Tyler over for the evening
- Lauren tells Ned to stop staring at her
- Ned tells Tyler not to say anything to Piper about his crush on Lauren
- Piper overhears Ned saying that he kissed Lauren
Ned makes it clear to Piper that he instigated the kiss, whilst Lauren stands there awkwardly. Piper reasons that Ned made up the rumour about Brad and Terese having an affair to drive him and Lauren apart, but Ned denies everything. Lauren tells Piper that Brad doesnt know about the kiss, so Piper storms out to find him and Ned and Lauren chase after her.
Piper storms in to tell Brad about the kiss.
LAUREN: Brad deserves to hear it from me.
BRAD: Hear what?
LAUREN: Ned kissed me.
LAUREN: I'm so sorry, I didnt want you to find out this way.
Piper tells Brad that Lauren didnt want to tell him about the kiss at all, but Lauren denies it, saying that Ned begged her not to.
NED: Dad, don't blame Lauren. It was me. Lauren pulled away, it wont ever happen again.
PIPER: How can you promise that when youve got feelings for her?
BRAD: What are you saying, youre in love with Lauren?
NED: Dad, its been great staying here getting to know you this whole thing is just a massive screw- up on my part. I didnt mean to hurt anyone!
PIPER: Massive fail on that front.
Brad storms off and Piper follows him, leaving Ned and Lauren looking very sheepish.
John is listing off the reasons why he believes he was responsible for the explosion: he has an instinct for violence, is good with tools, has friends who are afraid of the police and no family who have come looking for him. Paige refutes each of his claims, and points out that Wendy provided him with a solid alibi. She suggests that if he worked for the boiler company, his memory could have been from anywhere, and she suddenly has an idea of to verify it.
Mark asks Tyler about his driving lessons with Piper, when Tyler gets a text from Ned saying hes having a major crisis and needs to talk. Paige chats to Mark and says that all of her family are acting out of character, a bit like the aliens from the film Body Snatchers. She suggests that perhaps the boiler blew up by accident, and that Braun and Bell planted the blueprints on Paul to save themselves. Mark convinces her that the boiler was sabotaged and Paige looks concerned.
Paul wakes up in his cell and reluctantly goes out to the yard. An inmate (Squeak) approaches Paul having recognised him from the papers for owning Lassiters. Paul laments that he now doesnt even own the clothes on his back, but Squeak keeps pestering him and suggests that hell need protection on the inside. He offers to fill the role for a price, but Paul asks to be left alone.
Lauren recounts the previous events to Steph, who suggests that Brad will need time to process everything.
STEPH: At least he knows that the kiss was one- sided. It was, wasnt it?
LAUREN: Yeah, yeah of course it was. Its just I can't help feeling that I might have encouraged him in some way.
STEPH: Being nice to someone doesnt constitute leading them on.
LAUREN: Yeah, but I always suspected that he was falling for me, he would grab any opportunity to be alone me, make physical contact.
STEPH: Yes, and you told him that that made you uncomfortable?
LAUREN: But what if my actions were at odds with that?
Steph grills Lauren for details, and she explains that her role as a confidant may have lead Ned on. Steph tells Lauren not to beat herself up, but suddenly notices something amongst her mail thats upset her.
Outdoor Fitness Area
John stands with Brad, who tells him that he likes to come to the area as he spent a lot of time there with Josh. Josh asks Brad if he feels any better now that Paul has been convicted, and looks uncomfortable when Brad asks the same. Brad recounts memories of Josh.
JOHN: Sounds like you raised a great son.
BRAD: He was no angel. He made a lot of mistakes. But he never intentionally hurt anyone. You know, I love all my kids of course. But there was an ease with Josh, a camaraderie.
JOHN: The bond between father and son is special, it can never be broken.
BRAD: Yeah, well I used to think that. Now I'm not so sure.
Tyler can't believe that Ned made a move on Lauren, and Ned opens up about his fear of losing Brad. Tyler tells him that he needs to get over his crush, and convince Brad that it meant nothing so that he can be forgiven.
Piper is filming a vlog.
PIPER: So today, I'm talking about weird inappropriate hook- ups. So my half- brother has feelings for my faux- step- mother, and made a pass at her. Now, that sort of thing might be okay on an episode of Game of Thrones, but this is real life on Ramsay Street.
Tyler knocks at the door, and Piper introduces him as Neds co- conspirator, Tyrion. Tyler insists that he had no idea that Ned had feelings for Lauren, and orders Piper to put her camera away. Piper confesses that shes hurt because Ned has acted like a big brother to her since Josh died, and she doesnt want him to leave. She accuses Lauren of being nice to her in case the truth about the kiss came out, but Tyler successfully distracts Piper from her angry rant by showing her a video of a dog enjoying its bath time!
Mark meets Paige outside the police station if asks if he knows when the Lassiters boiler was last serviced, but Mark tells Paige to drop her conspiracy. Paige confesses that she has doubts about Pauls guilt and tells Mark about her suspicions. Mark advises that Paige should trust the law for convicting Paul, and shes just having reservations about John because she knows so little about his past.
In the visiting room, Steph meets Paul and tells him that Julie Quill is hell- bent on suing for damages. Steph suggests that Paul backdates the contract that signed his share of the motel over to her to avoid it being used as collateral. To Stephs horror, Paul refuses and suggests that hell need a few thousand from Steph for protection, as hes being starved out by the other inmates.
Lauren pleads with Brad again that she wasnt the one to initiate the kiss and tries to explain why she was spending so much time with Ned in the first place. Brad realises that the woman Ned was dating from Tinder was just a distraction.
LAUREN: I wanted to tell you.
BRAD: But you didnt.
LAUREN: You kept a big secret with Terese from me, for weeks.
BRAD: I was trying to get justice for my son, I was trying to protect you.
LAUREN: And I was trying to protect you! I was trying to protect your bond with Ned.
BRAD: Yeah, well that bond is tainted now, isnt it? Now I know that I can't take the moral high- ground after the way you and I got together.
LAUREN: I will always regret the way that happened, but this thing with Ned, its not even in the same league! Hes just got a silly crush!
BRAD: Surely you understand why I'm upset?
They sit in silence.
Paige confesses to John that she spoke to Mark about the boiler. John still doesnt believe that hes innocent, and suggests that Dustin may have been his accomplice. Paige insists that John still has a strong alibi and has set up a meeting with Wendy Iris (is that her name now?) to prove it.
Paul is approached again by Squeak and is this time joined by a group of scary looking inmates. He plays a 'hilarious' joke on Paul by giving him a box of sweets filled with stones, and proposes his offer of protection again. Suddenly the group of cronies disbands as a voice cries out from behind, Oi, whats going on here?. A figure looms above Paul its Gary Canning!
Paige gives Wendy a grilling, and she goes through her story again. Supposedly she gave John a brochure and saw him alone on a bench in the complex whilst on her morning break. Wendy suddenly looks uncomfortable and leaves.
Lauren is cleaning her paintbrushes, and Ned approaches with an apology.
NED: Can we please just talk about this?
LAUREN: The only thing we need to talk about is how soon you can move out.
NED: I can leave today.
LAUREN: I should have told you to leave the moment I realised you had feelings for me.
NED: So why didnt you?
LAUREN: Because I didnt want your relationship with your father to suffer, just because youd made things awkward. Letting you stay was a big mistake, and now its just made things far worse.
Ned says hell start packing and leaves Lauren alone.
Piper and Tyler have only just finished watching the videos on her phone (how long have they been there?!). They flirt together in the kitchen, and find them holding each other, gazing into each others eyes. They are suddenly interrupted as Terese returns home and calls out, so Piper pushes Tyler into the laundry room to hide.
- Piper tries her best to hide Tyler
- Piper and Tyler confess their feelings for each other
- Ned leaves the street
- Paul asks Gary for protection
- Paul is approached by a group of scary inmates
