Previously on Neighbours
- Sonya enjoying getting to know Walter as her dad however is worried that it could be too good to be true.
- Sonya discovering a text on Walter's phone.
- Lauren wanting Ned to forgot the kiss ever happened.
- John chasing up Paige's lead on the logo he recognised.
- John having flashbacks to the Lassiters boiler explosion.
Lassiters Lake
John is trying to remember why he's having flashbacks to being in the Lassiters boiler room when Paige comes and joins him. She reminds him he (and Amy) are due to repair the dishwasher at Harold's but he pulls out of doing that citing that he needs time to think.
Cue titles!
Harold's café
Amy isn't amused at John bailing as she's also got an emergency call to deal with so hopes the repairs needed here will be quick. Paige tells her about John blowing her off and thinks the amnesia is starting to get to him now, especially now that another lead has gone dead. Amy's advice is to give him space but Paige is not listening and still wants to help him.
Number 30
Sonya tries to subtly quiz Walter to get to the bottom of the texts but he's giving nothing away and heads off to go sort Nell out for daycare.
Number 32
Brad comments to Ned that he and Piper are getting on well after seeing them capering together over her vlogging before she headed off to school and admits he's glad the pair of them are getting on well. Ned admits he had it in his head that they wouldn't want anything to do with him and Brad is grateful for the second chance with both him and Paige, who came as a complete surprise to him and especially Lauren. Brad gives Ned the quick guide to how he got together with Lauren although concedes it was perhaps too soon after Matt died but is glad he followed his heart.
Harold's café
Lauren isn't too amused that Amy can't do the repair and her chief washer-up for the day is bailing too, to go help John.
Brad and Ned arrive for coffee and when they find out about the dishwasher being broken, Ned volunteers to go repair it. Lauren politely says no to him, she wants an expert to fix it, but he's not taking 'no' for an answer and barges through them to head into the kitchen.
Number 30
Just as Toadie is about to sing Walter's praises, Sonya tells him about the text she saw on his phone. Toad tells her the text was from his ex-wife (they split over 10 years ago) and is shocked when Sonya says that perhaps he was right about Walter all along. She agrees to Toadie trying to track Roxanne down to see what the message was about.
TOADIE: But you have to understand, if we delve further into Walter's life, you may not like what we're gonna find.
The Waterhole
Paige has tracked down the female that John recognised and is trying to quiz her about him after explaining about his amnesia. "I don't know who you are talking about," the lassie replies, which puzzles Paige as John told her he spoke to the lassie yesterday. In desperation, she shows her a picture of John but it's not ringing any bells for her.
Harold's café
Ned is impressed with that he thinks is the lunchtime special but turns out it's a food parcel for Terese as she is due home today and Lauren wanted to do something nice for her.
Piper and Tyler's chat is interrupted when they hear a smash in the kitchen and watch on as Lauren rushes into the kitchen. Ned has had a bit of an accident - scalding his hand when he touched the hot water pipe and knocking one of the lasagne dishes over in the process. Lauren applies an ice-pack to his hand and he admits that he's out of his depth trying to repair the dishwasher and was only doing so to try and make amends with her.
Lassiters Complex
Lauren takes the broken crockery out to the bins with Ned following suit. She is annoyed at herself for letting him work on the dishwasher and orders him to "stop looking at me like that!"
NED: I can't help what I feel.
LAUREN: You'll have to try!
NED: I have tried!
LAUREN: Oh, look, stop!
NED: Lauren, I'm not trying to make trouble for you. But if I had to make a list of all the things I'm looking for in a relationship.
LAUREN: Stop! Ned, I think you should go home. Apart from the obvious reasons, I don't want you hurting yourself again.
A concerned Tyler appears asking if everything is fine and Lauren replies that it is. Ned explains that he broke a dish and they were just throwing it out.
You could just about cut the tension in the air before Lauren tells Ned again that he should go home before heading back inside the café.
Number 30
Toadie reports back to his wife the digging he's done - that Roxanne lives in Newcastle and when he pretended to be a customer of the company she works for, was told she wasn't in as she had an appointment with her kid... a 14 year old girl. Sonya's quickly worked out that this girl is likely to be her half-sister as Walter/Roxanne were still together when she was born. They're still none the wiser what the text message was about but Toadie is peeved at Walter keeping secrets from them and thinks that they should confront him to get answers.
Lassiters Lake
Paige has caught up again with John and wants to know why he lied about Meagan (the lassie she was talking to earlier). He's not amused at her 'checking up' on him and orders her to stay out of it but she's stubborn and replies no because she can't get him out of her head. "Try harder," is his reaction to that.
PAIGE: Don't you get it? Don't you get why I'm so invested in this?
JOHN: Look, whatever fantasy you have cooked up about me, that is all it is. I'm a complete stranger, and you know nothing about me or what I'm capable of. You need to forget about me and get on with your own life.
PAIGE: I can't. I just told you, I have tried.
JOHN: Well, find a way.
Number 30
"Do you have another daughter with Roxanne?" Sonya greets her father with when he returns home. He confirms he has another daughter and that her name is Zoe. Sonya immediately concludes that she is sick because the photo he showed her is of a lassie with a headscarf round her head.
WALTER: She's not just sick, she's dying and she needs your help.
(Later)
Commercial break later and Walter explains that Zoe has leukaemia and she's been through several rounds of chemo but it keeps coming back. He adds that despite it all, she's managed to keep her sense of humour. "I don't know how you've been coping," Sonya admits. Walter goes on to say that the only thing that is going to save Zoe is a bone marrow transplant. "You need me to be a donor, yeah?" Sonya asks and he replies that since she's Zoe's half-sister there is a chance she could be a match but denies Toadie's accusation that this is the only reason he came back into Sonya's life. "I always wanted to reconnect," he says and what Zoe is going through was the wakeup call he needed.
WALTER: I realised that I wanted to be a father to both of you.
He then explains about getting sober on his own and that the $5k went on Zoe's medical bills. Walter also admits that he should have said something earlier and that nobody on Roxanne's side is a match. "Can I meet Zoe?" Sonya asks and Walter replies yes, he would love for that to happen. Before anything happens though, Toadie wants them to have some thinking time, they're not committing to anything.
The Waterhole
"I'm an idiot," is how Ned describes himself after Tyler asks how the hand is (it's all bandaged up). Not beating around the bush, Tyler asks if Lauren's the older woman he's into? Ned's silence all but confirms it and he eventually says that it's messed up and can't but help how he feels about her.
TYLER: If your dad finds out, it'll be nuclear.
"He won't find out," Ned replies especially as it's a dead end. Tyler agrees to forget all about the conversation/not tell Piper because he doesn't want to get caught up in it.
TYLER: Just promise me it's gonna end here. You're not gonna make any more moves on Lauren?
NED: I already told you. Nothing's gonna happen, end of story.
Harold's café
Brad looks relieved to discover that Ned's injuries weren't that serious and Lauren explains that she just thought it better if he went home.
Ned's accident has scuppered Brad's plans to ask Lauren if he could work at Harold's because the tattoo parlour can only offer him 6 hours a week. Lauren replies that she's not looking for any new members of staff, then cites lack of experience when he points out that she's constantly rushed off her feet.
BRAD: Come on, it'll be like a real family business and he thinks you're great.
"These aren't your decisions to make Brad," she uses to reason with him. He gets that and apologises for trying to run the place.
LAUREN: I just don't think it's a good idea, that's all.
Off Air
The duo run into each other here but this time its Paige accusing John of stalking her! He apologises for snapping at her but she wants to know why he's pushing her away as she can tell he's developed feelings for her. John tries to tell her, she's fallen for false advertising but she's not bothered about that, she can sense that he's a good, kind and decent guy.
JOHN: Paige, I don't know if any of that is actually true.
She's curious to know if something has happened with him saying that. He explains that he did try to go see Meagan yesterday but she want there and discovered that the company she works for repairs boilers and that he freaked. "Why?" she asks and he tells her about remembering being in the boiler room at Lassiters. Paige points out he's got an alibi and suggests that he was repairing it rather than tampering with it.
JOHN: There's got to be a reason why these memories are coming back so strongly. I think I'm responsible for the explosion.
Number 22
Lauren calls round to drop off the remaining lasagne and finds the house empty (Piper isn't hearing her calls) and just as she is leaving Piper a note, Ned walks into the house at the back of her. "Oh, you scared me," she tells him before asking what he's doing here. He's decided following his chat with Tyler to move out and she's shocked/annoyed at him talking to Tyler about it even if he's agreed not to say anything... "until he slips up and forgets!" Lauren then adds what if he says something to Piper but Ned reassures her that he trusts Tyler and he won't.
Lauren feels she's left with little option but to tell Brad as she doesn't want him finding out from anyone else although Ned tries to reassure her that he didn't mention the kiss. However, someone else has overheard that part of their conversation - Piper!
