Josh hugs his dad and quickly tells him about his visit to Brisbane. Brad asks if Piper got some good footage for her doco with Doug (she did) but tells him that it got wiped when he asked to see the footage. He is then called back to the school and the kids agree to keep an eye on Doug so he can go.
Paul runs into Nene/Amy in the café and she turns down Paul's offer of a job at the motel because she'd rather keep to her specialist field (nursing). Nene is short of the reddies when it comes to paying the bill (says she forgot to go to the bank) and Amy says she'll cover it although doesn't pick up the fact that Nene actually wanted them to do a runner!
Mark is Tyler's slave for the day at the garage when they get interrupted by Steph stopping by to check her tyre pressure before going for a drive. On seeing Tyler signal, Mark volunteers to keep her company and she agrees he can come with her… as long as he can keep up!

As he tells his sisters that Doug is taking a rest because he got agitated, Josh accidentally lets slip that something happened earlier. Piper fills in the blanks to Imogen and that they need to try hard not to get Doug agitated in case the aggression comes back/gets worse. Lauren has overheard the kids talking and Piper begs her not to tell Brad.
Mark and Steph stop for a quick break on their ride and he is impressed at Steph's biking capabilities. Just as they are about to leave, another biker stops and Steph recognises him (Jacka) and they warmly hug each other. He asks where she's been and Steph replies that is a story over a beer! She suggests rounding up their buddies for a beer and a chat but Jacka explains they're banned from their old haunt however Steph has an idea for a venue.

Lauren wants Josh/Piper to come clean with Brad as he has to know if Doug's getting worse but they don't want to see Doug being put in a home.
Brad arrives home and can sense something is up and much to his sister's annoyance, it's Josh that cracks and tells Brad about Doug being physical and Piper being hurt but he doesn't remember it happening. “I'm fine,” Piper reassures her dad with and a plea not to get mad at Doug.
BRAD: Maybe it's time to accept that this situation is beyond us.
Amy runs into Karl in the store and does the big sales pitch to see about getting her mum a job at the hospital but is told she'll need to apply through the usual channels. She then decides to tell him about some of her mum's issues (anxiety and depression) is in such a good place and after treatment (meds and seeing a therapist) that a job would mean so much to her. Karl seems to have softened his stance somewhat, and agrees to ask HR if there is anything going.
Steph has found a venue to catch up with her biker mates – the motel although because of Mark's job, the conversation is somewhat strained.
Paul isn't too impressed at Steph entertaining her friends at the motel and after reminding him about Xanthe, promises to clear up and get out should a paying customer arrive.

Brad is back from seeing the doctors and explains to Josh that Doug's aggression is a sign the meds are losing their effectiveness and that the doc recommends putting him into a home.
JOSH: We're not going to send him away dad.
BRAD: I don't like it any more than you do.
JOSH: He came here so we could look after him.
Brad gets that but adds that Doug will keep getting worse and the doc thinks they aren't equipped to handle it.
BRAD: It's nobody's fault Josh.
He then says the docs want to start the process now while Doug still has spells of lucidity. Josh is aghast that Doug doesn't know what is coming and thinks he should be part of the process.
Nene is unsure why she's been taken round to #28 so Amy fills her in that she asked Karl to enquire about a job for her. When Karl tells them that a position is available, it's Amy who is over the moon and when Karl goes to set up the interview for her, Nene expresses her displeasure at Amy telling Karl about her illness because she fears it will always be “in the back of his mind.” Amy explains she just wanted to be transparent and once she shows him what a great nurse she is, there won't be any issues.

Doug comes out into the backyard after his rest and Brad tells him what he talked to the doctors about (Doug was in the waiting room when the chat took place) and Doug makes it clear he doesn't want that. “I know dad,” Brad empathises but then tells Doug about Piper being hurt.
JOSH: We know how much you love her Pop, you didn't mean to hurt her.
DOUG: But I did just like when I left Susan and ran Steph and Paul off the road.
Brad looks stunned at hearing that admission and wants to know if there is anything else they've been covering up?! “No, just the accident,” Josh reassures his dad.
BRAD: Which was months ago.
DOUG: Couldn't be trusted then, can't be trusted now.
Paul decides its time the party is over and wants everyone out before he calls the police… and Mark pipes up to remind him that they are there! Reluctantly the bikies head out of the room and Steph gives her business partner the hard glare.

Doug comes out to see the whole family sitting and reciprocates a warm hug with Piper.
DOUG: You know, if anyone tried to hurt any one of you lot, I'd want to rip them apart but now, I'm the one you're afraid of.
Piper reassures him they aren't afraid of him and what happened was an accident.
DOUG: The thing is, I don't remember it.
He tells them all that he's spoken to Pam and that its time to make formal arrangements. “No way,” is Piper's immediate reaction and Imogen tells him that they don't want him to go.
DOUG: It's the best thing for everyone.
Nene drops by to thank Karl for setting up the job interview for her in the light of what Amy told him. He reassures her that mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of and adds that it may have made her a better nurse. “You're very understanding,” she replies then explains that she won't be going for the interview as she fears not being able to get registered due to issues at her last job – she took the fall for a doctor (she had a fling with) who gave a patient the wrong medication. She adds that she's tried to get the suspension lifted but it's taking longer than she thought and confirms that Amy knows nothing about it because she wanted to do something without Amy having to bail her out of another disaster.
NENE: I wanted to prove I was finally on track.
KARL: I'm sure she'd understand.
NENE: Our relationship is very unique, it's more like she's the parent and I'm the child. I just needed a couple of months to clear this up. She's going to be so disappointed in me if she finds out.
Mark interrupts Steph staring at the photo of Charlie to ask “what's up.” She replies Paul for breaking up her mate's reunion but Mark points out she's been down all day and urges her to get it off her chest. “I lost Charlie today,” she tells him after Max/Phillipa poisoned Charlie against her.
STEPH: I know I can't make up for my mistakes but I really thought they'd give me another shot but everything's screwed up.
MARK: Steph, you're Charlie's mum, if you want him in your life keep him in it.
STEPH: It's not that easy.
MARK: The fight won't be but the decision is – do you want this or not?
STEPH: Of course I do!
MARK: Then I don't need to tell you not to give up because it's pretty clear you haven't.
Paul is cleaning up the room Steph and her mates were in when there is a knock on the door. He thinks its Steph back to lend a hand but opens the door to find Jacka and company back to tidy up the place and not ‘have a word' as Paul feared although he doesn't look too comfortable being surrounded by bikies!
Karl comes back after talking to Nene's referee (who holds a low opinion of said doctor) and agrees to help her out - if her references back her credentials up, he'll put in a recommendation that she is reinstated. He also urges her to go for the job at the hospital, they'll sort out the registration issues once she's got the job. “I don't know what to say, I'm blown away,” Nene replies but he does remind her he's not promising her anything - she's still to do well in the interview and the board has to agree to reinstate her and adds that he thinks they can get it done without Amy finding out what happened at her last job.
It would appear that the bikies did want ‘to have a word' with Paul as Steph arrives to find the room trashed and Paul sitting silently on the bed. “What are you doing?” she asks.
PAUL: Oh your bikkie mates thought it would be hilarious to come round and take off my leg!
Steph doesn't know what to say back and he adds that the bikies didn't like how he talked to her and thought they'd have “a little fun” with him. “I shouldn't have brought them here,” Steph realises. “Obviously!” Paul replies and asks her to have a good look around the trashed room.
PAUL: This is all because of you Steph.
- Paul thrilled at hearing more surprises.
- Terese ordering Paul to get fresh linen for the room.
- Terese rather coy with Susan.
- Nene on the lookout for Mr Right who could just be round the corner.
- Josh wanting Doug to come clean with Brad.
