- Karl enters a limerick competition to win a free night in a Lassiter's suite
- Michelle invites Tyler and Paige over for a housewarming party, then relays her evil plan to Dimato
- Following Dimato to Michelle's flat, Paul is shocked to find it full of stolen goods
- Dimato promises to invest in a motel with Paul, if he keeps quiet about what he's seen
Paul sits alone looking pensive, and gazing intermittently at Paige, who's at another table. Mark comes in to join her; Paige tells him that Susan has come up with some options for their wedding vows, but that they're a bit traditional. She suggests they write their own instead – and passes Mark a pen and paper to get started! She then notices Paul staring at her.
PAIGE: What are you looking at, Stalky?
PAUL: Oh, sorry… I was a bit lost in thought there.
The titles roll.
Steph and Terese are having a work meeting, when Lauren comes in. Steph realises she's double- booked and that she was supposed to be meeting Lauren to discuss the bar's joint Valentine's Day packages with Harold's. Visibly uncomfortable, Terese makes a quick exit, saying she'll talk to Steph later.
Once Terese's gone, Steph apologises to Lauren for causing the awkward encounter – but Lauren says things between her and Terese couldn't get any more awkward than they already were. Lauren admits she's just nominated Terese for the local Women in Business Awards, because she's a great role model – and that the finalists are being announced this week.
Paul is sitting on his own again, when Amy comes in. She half- thanks him for his text, and says Jimmy's been asking after him – but Paul seems too distracted to listen. When Amy asks him what's on his mind, he admits he's been offered a potentially life- changing business opportunity – but there are complications.
AMY: There always are, where you're concerned!
PAUL: So you don't think I should take it?
AMY: I think you should take a look at your own very recent history, and not let it repeat itself.
PAUL: This is a very, very different opportunity.
AMY: Then weigh up the risks and benefits, which I'm guessing is money and success. And we all know that means more to you than anything else. I don't know why you're pretending to ask for my advice.
Amy walks off.
Karl and Susan receive a visit from Daniel, in his Lassiter's uniform. Daniel announces that Karl won the limerick competition, and thus a night in the Lassiter's premier suite, all expenses paid. The condition is that they do some ‘live tweeting' throughout the experience to help promote the hotel.
SUSAN: Let's do it tonight.
KARL: Aren't you tired?
SUSAN: Yeah, but nothing that room service, a massage and a bottle of champagne won't fix!
KARL: Well, when you put it like that…
SUSAN: Hey, don't forget to pack the… You know…
KARL: Haha, top of my list!
Daniel watches, bemused, as they start kissing.
DANIEL: I'll go and start making the arrangements…!
Paige and Mark have written their vows. Paige challenges Mark to read his first.
MARK: If I'm nervous now, imagine what I'm gonna be like on the day, in front of family and friends.
PIPER: It's fine! Just do the whole ‘picture everyone naked' trick.
MARK: Yeah, I'm not sure that's gonna help!
Mark begins reading.
MARK: I, Mark Brennan, take you, Paige Smith, to be my wife. To love and to cherish. I promise to take care of you, and keep you safe always. And I promise not to freak out when you mess up my sock drawer and borrow my favourite shirt, spill coffee on it and leave it scrunched up in a ball on the bathroom floor. You're the love of my life. You make me happier than I ever thought possible, and I can't wait to begin this amazing adventure with you. I love you now and forever.
PAIGE: Aww, I love it!
It's now Paige's turn.
PAIGE: I, Paige Smith, take you, Mark Brennan, to be my husband. I promise to be there for you, and to take care of you. Even when you've got man- flu and need lots of TLC and chicken soup. And I promise to love you and cherish you every single day. No matter where we are, I will carry your heart with me forever. Because you have mine completely.
They each declare their love, and kiss. Mark leaves, just as Paul comes in. He speaks to Paige.
PAUL: Listen, just a word of advice.
PAUL: You need to go to Michelle's apartment. Without your boyfriend. Look, there's something going down – and unless you're careful, you're gonna go down with it.
Paul leaves, and Paige looks worried.
Lauren bids farewell to Steph following their meeting, but bumps into Brad on her way out. He's had some bad news; his dad Doug's got pneumonia, but they've caught it early and are treating it. Lauren gives him a comforting rub on the shoulder, and there's an awkward moment of unresolved sexual tension. Lauren leaves.
Meanwhile, Karl and Susan are having a drink with Aaron, while they wait for their room to be prepared. The dreaded Blue Box™ is sitting conspicuously on the table in front of them! Aaron remarks that he's always wanted one of those fluffy Lassiter's bathrobes (haven't we all?). Karl says that, since their night in the suite is all- inclusive, he'll swipe one of the robes for Aaron!
KARL: For a handling fee.
AARON: But you are getting it for free?
KARL: Excuse me, I earned that prize. The limerick didn't write itself! I'll give you one for fifty percent off.
Susan rolls her eyes wearily and reminds Karl they're going to the hotel to relax, not make money. Aaron reaches in to take a look at the suite ticket, which is on top of the Blue Box™ and, thinking he's taking the lid of the box off, Susan and Karl both throw their hands on it defensively!
Paige arrives, and finds no- one home – but sees all the stolen goods and looks worried.
Susan and Karl are just heading into the hotel. Karl's on the phone to Josh, having successfully sold him the rights to discounted food from the Lassiter's room service menu! Susan's appalled, but Karl assures her the hotel will be expecting them to rack up a few hundred dollars' worth of extras! Paul stops to chat, and is highly amused that Karl is selling on all the hotel freebies to RSRs!
KARL (getting a text): Toadie tried to beat me down on the slippers. Nice try!
Paul remarks that the Quill Group could not have found a worthier winner.
PAUL: Hey, what about the fixtures? I've heard they're worth a bit!
KARL: Don't be ridiculous, I do have some morals!
Karl's phone rings.
KARL: Sorry, got to take this. Yeah, Tyler? … Bathrobe? Absolutely…
SUSAN (to Paul): You know this is gonna end in tears, don't you?
Paul nods and grins gleefully, then walks away!
Terese comes off the phone and excitedly tells Steph that she's been nominated for an Erinsborough Women in Business Award! Terese thinks Paul nominated her, but Steph assures her it won't have been him. Terese quickly twigs that Steph knows who nominated her.
STEPH: It's probably the last person you'd expect.
STEPH: Nope. Prettier and blonder.
TERESE: No – no, not Lauren?
STEPH: You didn't hear it from me!
Brad is on the front lawn at No 24, making some of his wonderful wood carvings, when Josh shows up. Josh quickly guesses that Brad's carving is therapeutic, and asks what's stopping him and Lauren getting back together. Brad points out the pain they caused everyone last time, but Josh says that since Brad and Terese are truly over, he should be upfront with Lauren and get back together.
Paul tries to seek Daniel's advice on his new potential investment, but Daniel isn't really listening – he's too busy monitoring and retweeting Karl and Susan's live tweets from the premier suite! Paul points out that Karl is only being so assiduous on Twitter in order to attract more customers to sell on the Lassiter's freebies to! Daniel's shocked.
DANIEL: That's why he wanted to try on five different bathrobes, all the same size!
Paul can see Daniel's worried about upsetting Karl and Susan by calling time on Karl's profiteering, but Paul says this is business, and that Karl is taking advantage – if he was a real friend to Daniel he'd understand he has a job to do, he adds. Daniel thanks Paul for his advice.
In the premier suite, Karl is wearing a bathrobe, towel on his head and a cucumber facemask – while a Lassiter's underling called Amanda is giving him a manicure! Susan looks increasingly weary.
KARL: I'm thinking not too pointy, Amanda.
KARL: Did reception tell you we've got you booked for four more mani- pedis this afternoon?
AMANDA: No, they didn't.
SUSAN: And that's not including me!
KARL: Hmm. Susan, could you knock out another tweet? I want everyone to know how much fun we're having.
There's a knock at the door, and Daniel turns up with room service. Susan's relieved as she was starving, but Karl says she can't touch it – claiming it's his! Daniel says it's been brought to his attention that Karl has been charging people for free hotel goods and services.
KARL: I've no idea what you're talking about!
The phone rings and Susan answers it.
SUSAN: Karl, it's Josh – he wants to change his order.
Daniel says that the prize conditions have been voided, and therefore hands Karl a bill for all the services he's consumed so far! Karl protests, but Daniel leaves, with Amanda in tow. Karl looks down the itemised bill…
KARL (to Susan): Did you use the minibar?!
Susan scowls at him.
Paige is still at the flat, assessing the boxes of stolen goods. She gets a call from Mark on her mobile; he's asking her what she thought of his wedding vows. The door starts to rattle, so Paige says she'll call Mark later and hangs up. Michelle comes in.
PAIGE: Michelle, what is all this stuff?
MICHELLE: … I don't know. Why don't you tell me?
PAIGE: How am I supposed to know? I've never seen any of this stuff before in my life.
MICHELLE: Oh, that's a bit odd. Given it's your apartment.
PAIGE: It's your apartment!
MICHELLE: No, I think you're mistaken. The lease is under your name.
PAIGE: What's going on?
MICHELLE: Hmm. Well if I were into guessing games, I'd say it's something illegal.
PAIGE: This stuff's stolen?
MICHELLE: You should know. You're the one who stole it.
PAIGE: You've set me up…
Aaron is hanging out at a table. Terese comes in, and thanks Lauren for nominating her for the award – admitting Steph helped her figure it out. Terese asks why Lauren did it; Lauren claims she thinks Terese is an amazing businesswoman.
TERESE: So there was no other motives?
LAUREN: Look, I know what I did was unforgivable. And I want you to know how sorry I am for the pain I caused you.
TERESE: Yeah, I know. But a lot has happened. It's affected my entire life, my kids. I can't just forget that.
LAUREN: Yeah, look, I know that. But we live on the same street. We share a granddaughter. There's times when we're all gonna have to be together, and I just don't want it to be awkward for everybody.
TERESE: Well, I'm sure we can manage to be civil. Thank you again for the nomination.
Terese leaves, and Lauren smiles.
Aaron has been summoned to the premier suite by Karl to return his bathrobe, so Karl can recoup all the money he's been charged! But Aaron's refusing to give it back until Karl repays him the money he bought it with. Susan asks Karl where the money's gone.
KARL: I had to tip the masseuse!
Karl demands to know where Tyler is, with his bathrobe.
AARON: He's already spilt tomato sauce on his.
KARL: What, how is that even possible?
AARON: Come on Karl, you've met my brother, right?
Susan declares that they'll simply have to pay for the goods Karl's sold, and encourages him to enjoy the rest of their evening. But Karl tells her he has no intention of being left out- of- pocket!
The showdown continues.
PAIGE: I can't believe I trusted you – I helped you!
MICHELLE: Helped? Like you helped send us to jail? Now you're gonna feel what that was like.
PAIGE: You're not gonna get away with this. You must know that.
MICHELLE: Everything's in your name. The phone, the apartment.
PAIGE: Yeah, but you can't prove that any of this stuff is mine.
MICHELLE: Maybe not on its own. But when they find out that it all comes from customers on your database at Harold's… You have all the addresses. You know when they come and go. Time to face facts. You're going down – we're gonna make sure of it.
MICHELLE: Surely you can put two and two together.
PAIGE: You and Dimato? Mark was right about you all along! How could you do this to me?
MICHELLE: You are the most gullible person I've ever met. And now you're going to jail. Oh, and, with any luck, your mum'll get done as an accessory too.
Paige leaps at Michelle, but she's already running down the corridor. Paige chases her down the stairs and out of the building, grabbing Michelle and pulling her to the ground. They wrestle for a while, but Michelle eventually comes out on top, pinning Paige to the floor. As she holds Paige down, Michelle makes a phone call…
MICHELLE: Police… Yes, I'd like to report some suspicious activity at Apartment 8 in the Bluewater Complex in Anson's Corner. I think the tenant might be dealing in stolen goods…
Paige continues to struggle, to no avail.
Lauren encounters Brad having a run.
BRAD: Listen, Lauren, I'm gonna go out on a limb here. And this probably isn't the best time to do it, but when you think about it, when is, right? I miss you. A lot. And it kills me that you are across the road – you're right there in front of me, and I can't be with you. We've made mistakes, we've hurt people, but what's done is done. I don't wanna be without you.
LAUREN: Me too.
BRAD: Can we give this another chance?
Lauren smiles nervously.
- Paige is hiding from Mark in Michelle's apartment block
- Dimato asks Paul if he has something he'd like to tell him
- Steph asks Lauren whether she's going to follow her head or her heart
- Josh sees Brad and Lauren hugging by the lake, and smiles
- Terese asks Josh what ‘he' is going to do
