NAOMI: Well then yes, let's get married.
Paul then gets the ring out (a huge diamond) to put on her finger and she's almost speechless and when he asks if she loves the ring, she replies back that she loves him!
Number 22 (next day)
As they have breakfast, Terese tells the kids that Brad called to say he will be over later however it will mean re- scheduling her AA meeting as it was due to be at the same time as the visit. She reassures the kids that she's got her drinking under control and that she won't fall apart just because of what is happening with Brad.
Paige is as equally as furious as her mum is to discover that the store isn't going to be used for any more Lassiters catering.
Meanwhile, Daniel immediately offers Paul/Naomi his congratulations at the news of their engagement when Paul breaks the news to him. Daniel asks to see the ring and Naomi retrieves it from her bag to show him and explains that she wants to keep the news quiet just now for Kyle's sake and doesn't want them flaunting their happiness in his face. Paul thinks she is being incredibly thoughtful by doing that and adds that he wants and thinks that Amy should keep it quiet too, so Daniel goes to make the call.
Amy is on board with keeping the engagement quiet and hangs up just as Kyle comes back with the coffees. Kyle tells her about the schedule for the day – measuring up at Harold's for the refurb.
Naomi passes Amy/Kyle on the way out and when Sheila moans because Courtney's called to say she's running late, volunteers with Russell to help get the bar ready. Sheila sends Russell off to clean so she can quiz Naomi on why she is helping (just wants to help her mum) and what was happening at the rotunda last night. Naomi lies, saying Paul was trying out a new honeymoon angle for Lassiters. “Who would have thought he was a romantic,” Sheila remarks.
Imogen and Josh are seeing two sides to what has happened with their parents – she thinks that there is no hope for them while he thinks they will get through it as they've worked tough some tough stuff before.
JOSH: And plus you can't blame dad for all of this.
IMOGEN: Actually, yes I can! I just want everything to go back to the way it was before.
JOSH: Me too.
Just at that, Brad walks into the bar but the kids can't stay as they've got classes. Imogen remarks to her brother as they walk out the door if Brad is getting coffee from Off Air “to avoid Lauren… or just to look like he is?”
Paige spots Terese walking through the complex and rushes towards her to express her displeasure at the cancelling of the sandwich order. “It's just business,” Terese remarks and goes to walk away but Paige stops her to try and say that nobody, Lauren especially, is liking what's happened.
TERESE: Am I supposed to feel sorry for her?!
PAIGE: Terese, she never meant to hurt you.
TERESE: Really?! And did she happen to mention to you that she's had feelings for Brad ever since he moved back to Ramsay Street?
PAIGE: It's not true.
TERESE: Well she admitted it, so don't go fooling yourself, the entire thing was calculated. You should be pleased, you got what you wanted!
PAIGE: No, no, no, I wanted my dad to be happy and he wasn't happy when he was with you.
TERESE: Only because Lauren was pulling him in her direction.
PAIGE: No you were pushing him away.
Brad and Lauren have both magically appeared in the complex just as the pair of them have been engaging in conversation.
TERESE: Well go on then, ask her!
Terese doesn't hang around to see that, instead walking off, while Paige slowly walks over to her mum. “What was that about?” she asks so Paige replies to her with Terese's question. Lauren's silence has said it all for Paige and the pair of them have smiles on their faces.
Susan is carrying out Brad's development review at the bar! “Work is good for me,” he confirms and that he won't allow what's happened to get in the way of his teaching. Susan asks how it's going and he admits that he's been avoiding both Lauren and Terese until he can sort things out, so she reminds him that her door is always open if he wants to use it.
Meanwhile, as Russell is looking for something in the cupboards underneath the bar counter, he accidentally knocks Naomi's handbag out of a cupboard and discovers her engagement ring.
Just at that point, Sheila walks out of the back office and sees him holding the ring, and from the look at her face, she might not be getting 4 when you add 2 and 2 together!
Commercial break later and yes right enough, Sheila thinks the ring is for her and that Russell is going to pop the question. She's gone to consult Susan for advice and her advice is for Sheila to wait and not rush into marriage.
SHEILA: We're not getting any younger Susan. I don't want to spend the rest of my life just being on my own watching other people get on with their lives.
SUSAN: Oh don't say that.
SHEILA: Well it's true, not many of us get a second chance in life and I haven't felt this way about anyone since Frank.
Susan suggests that as a way of getting to know him, she should get to know his boys starting with Tyler as he last lived with his dad, so would know him better.
SHEILA: Gee, Mrs Brennan, imagine!
As they measure up, Amy and Kyle are having a competition to see who can add all the values up the quickest and Kyle is beating her hands down.
Meanwhile in the kitchen, Lauren and Paige are discussing her revelation of how long she's wanted Brad. Paige promises not to tell Amber but Lauren isn't sure if Terese will blab or not. Lauren is fearful of Amber knowing as she won't forgive her and will think that she never loved Matt, which isn't true. Paige wants to know what Brad thinks and Lauren replies that she doesn't know and has the feeling that Brad is avoiding her. “And what do you want?” Paige asks and Lauren replies that she's tired thinking about it, so Paige orders her home and to stop thinking about Brad/Terese for a while.
“I can't tell you how sorry I am for everything,” Brad begins with at the family meeting and adds that he's just trying to figure out what's best for them all moving forward. Imogen thinks that is him moving home to work things out with Terese but he doesn't think forcing things will help. He then breaks the news to them that he's going to look for alternative accommodation.
JOSH: You're moving out?!
IMOGEN: How long for?
Brad isn't sure how long for and reassures the kids that he loves them, something Terese immediately picks up on.
BRAD: Terese, you and I both know that our relationship has been hanging by a thread for a long time.
TERESE: Right, so you're not going to make any attempt to try and fix it?!
BRAD: I need some time.
IMOGEN: Time for what?! To decide whether you still love mum or not?
Brad tries to tell her that it's the same as when Terese moved out last year but Terese jumps in immediately to fiercely say it's quite different because she hadn't slept with someone else!
Realising that he's not going to get anywhere now Terese is worked up, Brad decides to go pack some things as Terese gives her approval for him “to find his space.”
The kids look absolutely devastated at what's just happened, but Terese is adamant that Brad has to, “own up to his behaviour, and to just admit that he has been indulging Lauren for months and to grovel for forgiveness,” first before she'll think about ask him to stay.
Russell finally finds Sheila as he's got a question to ask her and before he can even ask said question, Sheila is announces that yes, she'll marry him! That obviously wasn't the question Russell was going to ask, so Sheila quickly explains that she saw him with a ring and goes off to find it. “I found that on the floor,” Russell explains having fallen out of someone's bag.
Just as Sheila is wondering whose ring it is, Naomi comes over to claim it and tells them about Paul proposing last night and that she accepted.
As they arrive back on the street, it becomes clear that Amy let Kyle win at the sums game earlier, and they then witness Brad walking out of #22 with Terese giving him a flea in his ear about him being a cheating coward.
Just as he's about to get into the car, Lauren walks up the street and Terese thinks decided to be with her.
BRAD: I haven't decided anything.
TERESE: So it's a possibility?
Brad doesn't reply to her question, simply gets into the car so she tells him to go.
Naomi apologises to her mum for not telling her earlier and to help her get over the embarrassment over adding 2 and 2 up wrongly. “I think you dodged a bullet,” is Naomi's interpretation because marriage is not a pre- requisite for happiness. Sheila is surprised at her using those words and wonders what Paul would say. “Well I won't tell if you won't,” is Naomi's reply so Sheila wants to know what is going on.
SHEILA: First you tell me that you don't believe in marriage and then I find out that you are engaged…. No, no, no, no, no, secretly engaged!
NAOMI: I only meant that marriage isn't for everyone and I only said that stuff yesterday because I never thought that Paul would actually ask. And then I guess when he did, it felt… it felt right.
SHEILA: And so all this secrecy is just to protect Kyle?
Naomi promises that is all it is, something Sheila is pleased to hear as she tells her daughter that you can't go into a marriage with secrets.
SHEILA: That is a recipe for disaster!
It's like high- noon on Ramsay Street as Terese and Lauren clap eyes on each other on opposite sides of the street!
Terese walks into the middle and tells Lauren that she's got what she wanted as Brad has moved out. “None of this is what I wanted Terese,” Lauren replies. Terese warns her to stay away from her/her family before retreating back to her side of the street. Lauren rushes after her to have a go at Terese's form of revenge (cancelled orders/telling the kids stuff that will hurt them). “Like planning from the start to steal my husband?!” Terese says sharpening up her claws as Lauren denies that suggestion and tries to soften Terese up by asking her to not say anything to Amber because she's “hurting enough as it is.” Well that statement is like a red rag to a bull!
TERESE: And whose fault's that?!
LAUREN: You can say what you like to me because I can take it but leave the kids out of this. Don't make it personal.
TERESE: Personal?!!! You made it personal by sleeping with my husband.
LAUREN: I'm just trying to be honest, I'm trying to be fair and I'm trying to minimise the fallout. I'm asking you to do the same.
At this point the ladies realise they've got someone watching them – Susan.
TERESE: You don't get to ask me anything, you're responsible for this bomb going off! The fall out is on you!
Sheila is unloading her worries about Naomi onto Russell especially given Paul's track record and his wives.
SHEILA: I know she loves him but I just hope that he's not too tough on her. Naomi has a soft heart like her mother!
She manages to tag on her embarrassment at getting the wrong end of the stuck but he tells her she shouldn't be embarrassed as given how well things are between them, she may yet hear a certain question!
RUSSELL: Bottom line Sheila Canning, I'm very fond of you, gaffs and all!
SHEILA: You're not so bad yourself. And I want you to know that you can tell me anything about you and your boys.
He's unsure where she is going with this, so she tells him about Susan's advice to her that she should get to know Tyler better to get to know him better. Russell tells her not to bother, commenting that “you know kids, any excuse to bag the olds!” something she empathises with!
“So dad's officially moved out,” Imogen tells Daniel, Naomi and Paul. Naomi is quick to offer her sympathies, while Paul gloats that he was right all along with his theory that Brad was never right for Terese. During Paul's reply, he let slip about the footage he sent Terese, so Naomi fills in the blanks to Imogen as she didn't know what he was going on about. She's aghast at him showing the footage to Terese but Paul's reply is that she deserved to know the truth. “Like that?!” Imogen yells at him.
IMOGEN: She's devastated and you are treating this like some sick reality TV show.
Daniel interjects to say that Paul didn't mean to hurt anyone, but she decides she's heard enough and walks off infirming Daniel that staying at the penthouse is off the agenda too! Daniel gives Paul the evil stares before running off after his girlfriend.
PAUL: Hmm, I would have thought a budding lawyer would appreciate hearing the truth!
NAOMI: Well, you know the truth can be hard to stomach.
Paul replies that is what he loves about them, they've got no cover stories and everyone should be them.
PAUL: We are an all or nothing couple and that's what sets us apart see!
“You can't throw out dad's clothes,” Josh tells his mum after he finds out what was in the black bags she's just carried down the stairs.
TERESE: Well he threw out our marriage!
Josh tries to say that Brad won't be gone for good; he just needs time to think. Just as Imogen enters, Terese's thought of something else that can be added to the pile – Brad's surfboard! Imogen is now on her mum's side and asks if she wants the surfing magazines added to the pile too.
JOSH: Just stop, this is crazy, dads not the enemy here, I don't want to erase him from our house.
IMOGEN: How can you stand here and defend him after he humiliated us in front of the entire Erinsborough Council?!
Josh wants to know what she is talking about, so she explains what was captured by the drone and that he can “guess what they were doing!”
IMOGEN: He embarrasses us and then he turns around and he leaves us.
JOSH: Well maybe he had the right idea?
“Where are you going?” Terese asks as Josh is about to head upstairs and he explains he's going to pack because he doesn't want to be around them making things worse.
TERESE: Your fathers the one to blame here, not me!
JOSH: Yes mum, I get that dad made a mistake but you need to take some responsibility as well and until you do, I don't want to hear it.
- Josh asking his dad if it's Terese or Lauren?
- Lauren asking Brad if there is a chance he will get back together with Terese.
- Josh warning Imogen that their dad may choose Lauren instead of their mum.
- “Timing is everything,” Brad says to Lauren.
- Imogen warning Lauren to stay away from her dad.
- Tyler confronting his dad with what he did to him as a child.
- Russell taunting Tyler.
