- Mark continues to date Naomi, but Paul is becoming jealous
- Mark asks Paul for more dating advice, and he suggests he enrol Naomi on a mechanics' course
- Clem tells Susan that he thinks Ezra assaulted his girlfriend Chloe
- Paige tells Tyler that they'll have to pay back Michelle through legitimate business at the garage
Tyler leaps into the pool in slow- motion, and Paige soon shows up to join him.
TYLER: Check us out. Morning swim together. You know, it's almost like we're a real couple.
But Paige wants to talk shop. She says they need to make sure the mechanics' course they're running today runs smoothly, in order to prove to Michelle that they can make money legitimately at the garage. Tyler suggests Paige should raid Harold's, to provide some food for the class – and asks her to get him an egg and bacon roll while she's at it! He goes off to set up the garage.
Terese is telling Brad about a hotel job she's applied for at Docklands, when Ezra appears and angrily accuses the Willises of trying to brainwash Clem. He reveals that Clem has decided to head back to Perth to live with his mum after his chat with Terese.
EZRA: You know, business is one thing. But when you interfere with my family…
BRAD: What, Ezra? What are you threatening us with?
Ezra says he's heard about Terese's job application, and has already given her potential employer a ‘character reference', having told them about her mismanagement of Lassiter's.
EZRA: Good luck trying to find a job. You'll need it.
As Ezra walks out, Susan, who has been at the bar earwigging, joins the Willises and says she heard everything. Dispensing with her previous insistence on confidentiality, she explains how Clem came to see her last night – and says they were right to ask questions about Chloe…
Naomi is looking forward to some me- time in the spa with a Buck's Fizz, when Sheila emerges.
SHEILA: I think there's something missing from this picture.
NAOMI: A chocolate croissant. And if you really loved me, you'd go and get me one.
SHEILA: No. A handsome man to share the spa with. And I don't know why, but Mark Brennan's name keeps popping into my mind.
NAOMI: Now, I know that you're only saying that ‘cause you just wanna have a really good perv.
SHEILA: Oh, well there could be some truth in that. But that's not why I'm saying it. I am just so pleased that you two are dating again, because I may have said it before, but you two are just perfect for each other.
NAOMI: Why does everyone keep saying that?
SHEILA: Because he is the most decent man you have ever been with in your life.
But Naomi moans that Mark doesn't know her at all, since he's booked them both in for the mechanics' class at the garage – and she can't think of anything more unpleasant! Naomi says she's not going, but Sheila steals her drink and tells her to go and get ready for the class!
Naomi comes in and tells Paige that she and Mark will be attending the course at the garage. Paige is suitably amused. Mark turns up in his uniform – he says he'll have to meet her at the course later, as he's needed down at the station.
NAOMI: Oh, no! We should just give it a miss. What a shame! But you know, there are some things that just can't be helped.
But Mark is insistent that Naomi should go and enjoy the course without him, echoing Paul's advice that he knows she loves a challenge. Paige looks on jealously as Mark showers Naomi with compliments – and Naomi grudgingly agrees to go to the course without him. Once he's gone, Paige smirks at Naomi.
NAOMI: Brilliant (!)
Ezra is on the phone, presumably to Clem's mother – saying that it's ‘all lies', and that the Willises have brainwashed Clem. He demands that she put him back on the plane to Melbourne, but she hangs up. Furious, Ezra marches over and takes out his anger on Sheila, demanding his overdue coffee order.
SHEILA: Right here, your lordship.
Mark and a colleague come in, in uniform. Mark tells Ezra that they need him to come to the police station, since Susan has made a serious complaint against him as Clem's principal. Ezra says they can talk here, but Mark says it's not a request. Sheila smirks as he's led away.
Tyler is demonstrating to the course participants how to remove a wheel nut. Naomi looks bored out of her brain. When Tyler asks her to have a go, she tries to wriggle out of it, but Paige goads her on. Naomi grudgingly agrees, and kneels down with the wrench. But she can't move the nut at all, much to Tyler and Paige's amusement.
Mark is reporting to Susan and Terese. The police have interviewed Ezra, but he's claiming that Clem has made up the whole story about him assaulting Chloe. Mark admits they haven't managed to get Chloe to come forward; he says the police will be investigating nonetheless, but adds that it will be an uphill struggle without Chloe's testimony.
TERESE: We're talking about a sixteen- year- old girl!
Mark says they will try to mount a case against Ezra – it'll just take time. Terese asks if they could arrest Ezra if Chloe was persuaded to come forward; Mark says they'd be in a much better position.
Naomi continues to struggle with the mechanics' course to the extent that Tyler is starting to think he might have to help her; but Paige mischievously insists Naomi's fine working by herself.
TYLER: Bagging out people in class is not presenting a legitimate front.
PAIGE: I know, but look at her. I can't help it.
Naomi gets particularly frustrated when she realises she's got oil all over her top, but grimly insists on continuing because she ‘really loves a challenge'. Tyler and Paige walk away, as Paige remarks that she doesn't know why Mark wasted his money booking Naomi onto the course – he clearly doesn't know her.
TYLER: Why would you care?
PAIGE: I'm just saying.
TYLER: Is this you being jealous?
PAIGE: I'm not jealous!
TYLER: Not even a little bit?
PAIGE: No, I'm –
PAIGE: I'm just saying that she's pathetic!
Naomi is still struggling with the wheel nuts…
Terese is typing a message to Chloe via some kind of social networking site, claiming she wants to offer her an internship at Lassiter's. Chloe takes the bait and replies, at which point they start a video conversation. Terese admits there's no job – she wanted to talk to her about Clem.
At first Chloe feigns ignorance, but Terese begs her not to hang up, saying Clem is really worried about her.
CHLOE: He doesn't care.
TERESE: He said his dad tried to assault you.
CHLOE: What?! No, that's not true.
TERESE: Look, I know what you're going through.
CHLOE: You don't know anything.
TERESE: Chloe – Ezra tried to do the same thing to me. And so I know what it's like to want to crawl into a hole and never think about it, to never talk about it. But the only way to move forward is to admit what happened. Please, Chloe, talk to me. Let me help you. Is Clem right?
Mark turns up, explaining he got held up at the station; a miserable Naomi now has oil all over her face as well as her clothes.
MARK: It suits you!
NAOMI: That really the best you've got? I mean, I'm standing here looking like the Exxon Valdez disaster, and all you can say is it's a good look?
MARK: Come on, that'll wash off!
MARK: Okay, something's telling me I should stop talking now!
TYLER: Something's telling me you might be right.
NAOMI: Please move away from me now.
Mark slinks off to help Paige with something, as Paul turns up. He wants her to organise his meetings for the week. Naomi agrees, despite it being her day off, and goes to fetch her notebook. Paul looks pleased.
Terese is still talking to a now tearful Chloe on the webcam, who appears to have confessed all about Ezra's attempted assault.
CHLOE: I hate him for what he tried to do to me.
TERESE: I know. I hate him too. And it's men like Ezra who think they have power over us, but they don't. We're gonna take that power back. And make sure that this never, ever happens again.
Terese says she'll be in touch, but asks Chloe to contact her if she needs to talk. Chloe thanks her, and the conversation ends.
Later, Terese is crying as she answers the door to Susan, who's come to look for Brad. Terese explains that she's been in touch with Chloe, and told her what Ezra tried to do to her – hence the tears.
TERESE: I guess it just all came back to me. That feeling of powerlessness and not knowing what was gonna happen. The poor kid. You know, if I'm being like this as a grown woman, what must it be like for a sixteen- year- old? And how's it gonna affect her for the rest of her life?
SUSAN: Especially if there's a chance Ezra will get away with it.
TERESE: Well, he's not going to. Chloe's decided to come forward. I should call Brennan.
Ezra is outlining to the staff his plans for the revamp of the bar. Sheila makes her dissatisfaction known – but at this point, Mark and another policeman arrive, with Brad and Terese in tow.
MARK: Ezra Hanley – on behalf of the Western Australian Police Department, I'm placing you under arrest for the assault of Chloe Jones.
EZRA: This is some kind of a joke, right?
Sending the staff back to work, Ezra tells Mark that the allegations are just a smear campaign. But Mark says both Clem and Chloe have come forward to corroborate the story, and have agreed to give testimony. Mark cuffs Ezra, telling him he'll be extradited to Perth for trial, while Terese looks pleased with herself.
TERESE: Oh, and don't worry about Lassiter's while you're gone. I've spoken to the Quill Group, and they've suspended your contract – effective immediately. And I've been appointed the new manager of operations. And the first thing I'm gonna do is prepare a list of every woman that you have ever worked with and give it to the police.
Mark says the WA police will call them all individually, to make sure there are no more victims out there.
BRAD: And if there are, they will find them.
Mark leads Ezra away.
Tyler continues teaching the class, while Naomi miserably examines the oil on her hands.
TYLER: Naomi – did you want to come and check out where the dipstick goes?
NAOMI: No, I don't. Because, is anyone actually gonna go home and attempt to tune their own car? No! They won't, because nobody in their right mind would do that when there are perfectly good people such as your pretty self, who can do that sort of thing for us.
In addition, Naomi's annoyed that Mark has bailed on her for a second time.
TYLER: He said it was an emergency.
NAOMI: Yes, well so is my need to go and fix what was a perfectly good manicure. So thank you, but I'm done!
She goes to collect her designer handbag, only to find that's been smeared with oil as well! She tells Paige that the garage will have to compensate her, then marches away.
PAIGE: What a princess!
Naomi is still trying to clean the oil off her bag. Sheila is praising Mark for arresting Ezra – but Naomi's more concerned about him bailing on their date, and insists he's very much in her bad books! As she leaves to get a shower, Paul comes in, and says they need to have a meeting to discuss their strategy now Ezra's gone. Naomi reluctantly agrees – but while Paul gets them some coffees, she notices a message on his phone from Mark. It reads: ‘Got any better ideas for my next date with Naomi?' She folds her arms in disbelief!
With the class now finished, Joey Dimato turns up (calling Paige ‘sexy') and leaves a bag with Tyler and Paige, since Michelle's not here. Tyler tells him things have changed; they're going legit from now on, and Michelle's on board with it. But Joey says that Michelle isn't the one giving them orders, and says he was told to leave the bag with them. He winks sleazily at Paige as he leaves.
Once he's gone, they open the bag to find a sizeable stash of banknotes inside. They look worried.
