Previously on Neighbours
- Nate slams Josh against a fence and tells him that Chris is so bashed up he can barely function.
- Josh delivers food to Chriss doorstep.
- Amber thinks Josh should tell people about this and contributing most of the money Chriss fund.
- Matt and Mark arrest the delivery driver of the smuggled diamonds. They inform Paul that Dakotas involved in a smuggling ring.
- Chris tells Nate it may be best if he leaves now. Nate leaves, but Chris calls after him.
- Nate angrily screams at a guy who takes his parking spot. Susan tries to stop Nate, and he yells at her to not touch him!
Karl is shocked what Nate did, and he wants Susan to ask Nate to leave. Susan refuses after everything hes been through. She doesnt believe that hes dangerous. Karl says hes unpredictable and he needs help. This wasnt an isolated incident, and Karl insists that he wants Nate out of his house.
Daniel and Ambers Camp Site
Josh visits Amber to check out where she and Daniel are living. Josh didnt think she was the outdoors type, but he guesses that just shows how he never really understood her when they were going on. He asks Amber whats happening with the garage, every time he goes past its empty and theres a stack of tyres outside which people could easily steal. Amber says Mark is helping her dad on a case, but shes about to visit Chris and can ask him what should be done with them. Josh says not to bother Chris, hell sort it out.
Number 26 Back Yard
Chris is in the hot tub doing arm exercises talking to Amber (while Bossy has just run off with Chriss towel.) Chris tells Amber that she was trying to give Nate a way out if he couldnt handle it in the long term. He doesnt want Nate to think he was trying to push him away. Amber says after he stuck by Nate, of course Nate would want to stay by him.
AMBER: You are forgetting that it is 100% impossible not to love you. And if we can take anything good from this its just how much people care about you.
Chris talks about how much he likes the food deliveries, and hopes they don't run out soon. Amber tells Chris that a fund has been set up for him, theres a bank account there for him. Chris is amazed, and wonders who set it up. Amber brushes it off as a joint effort and says he shouldnt underestimate how much people care about him.
Paul stares into the lake, when Dakota (wearing a jacket and cap as a disguise) jogs past, stopping beside Paul. Hes surprised to see her.
Nate apologises for what he said, he can hardly remember it happening. His anger took over, but he remembers how scared Susan was. Susan tells him what he did today was unacceptable. She and Karl can't live under the constant threat that he might fly off the handle. She tells him to sort out his problems or leave the house. Nate understands. She suggests he talks to someone about his problems, but he hasnt found anyone he can talk to yet. He tells her hell get his things together and hell be gone by tonight.
Paul tells Dakota that he threw his wedding ring in the lake because she led him to believe that they had a future together. Dakota insists that not everything she told him was a lie. Paul knows about Mark Brennan, who played her at her own game. Mark strung her along just like she strung him along. She puts it down to justice. Paul asks why she targeted him, was it revenge? Dakota says Paul broke her heart. She tells him she needs $10,000 to get out of the country. Paul guesses that Carlos has left her high and dry. Dakota begs him, if she means anything to him then hell help her.
PAUL: If I'm honest I'm just not feeling the urge to hand over any more cash.
DAKOTA: Then let me remind you, its your money invested in the bar, your name is over all the paper work and Daniels name is on everything else. I'm sorry to do this Paul but if I get caught by the police I'm taking you down with me!
Josh sorts out the tyres, while across the road Jayden and his mates are chatting looking over to him. Chris arrives in a taxi, and Josh hides around the corner, as Chris unlocks the garage.
Nate sits down with Chris. Chris is looking at payslips for his victims of crime compensation. Chris asks if theyre breaking up. He doesnt want to break up, but he doesnt want Nate to feel obligated.
NATE: This isnt how we saw things going, but I want to be with you. Thats not out of obligation.
CHRIS: Why didnt you say that before?
NATE: Because I thought you wanted to get rid of me.
CHRIS: No you idiot! You know your whole silent brooding thing. It can be pretty hot but sometimes it would actually be nice to know whats going on with you.
Nate asks Chris if he can head off for a bit, he needs to explain something to Susan.
NATE: Tell me if you need anything teddy, because I'm going to look after you.
As Nate leaves he walks past Mark. Mark asks Daniel if Paul has heard from Dakota. He hasnt, but Daniel asks Mark to go easy on Paul, hes pretty cut up about it. He fell hard for Dakota, even thought they would go away together. Marks surprised to hear this, and leaves.
Paul has the bag of cash ready for Dakota. When he sees Mark arrives, he leads Dakota into his office and closes the door. Mark approaches Paul and says he knows Paul was planning on going away with Dakota, and asks Paul why he should believe that hes not involved in her schemes. Paul says Dakota played him for a fool. Paul says the real kicker is that Marks the one that Dakota really wanted. Paul tells Mark to leave, hes answered his questions. After Mark leaves, Paul takes the money to Dakota. Dakota says he was the first person to really care about her, and it means a lot to her. Shes truly sorry things didnt work out. They kiss goodbye, and she leaves by the staff exit.
Jayden and his mates approach Josh as he washes a car. Jayden asks Josh to give him some fighting lessons, hes a legend. Josh tells him to get away from him. As Jayden raises his fists to Josh, wondering if this is how it was done, Josh clenches his fist by his side. Josh stops himself and tells Jayden hes an idiot.
Nate tells Susan he wants to be honest with her. He wants her to know why he lost it this morning, why he is the way he is. He tells Susan about being sent to Afghanistan, trying to become part of a community and build a relationship with people, but they turn against you because theyve been paid off by the Taliban. He says youve got to watch your back the whole time.
NATE: And there was this little girl, and I gave her this toy to play with. I can never forget her face, it was like I gave her a piece of gold. We sat together with the toy and played with each other. And she went home and I said see you tomorrow. But I didnt, because they killed her for having that toy. She couldnt have been more than six years old, and shell never grow up because of me.
SUSAN: I don't know what to say.
NATE: The nightmares I have, thats what theyre about. I can never get her face out of my head. No matter how many shrinks I see. I had a fight with Chris this morning. And when I get upset all this stuff from the past builds up and sometimes I snap, and thats not making excuses. I just wish I could shut off my brain and never think about this stuff ever again. But I don't know how to do that.
As Nate and Susan are in tears (me too!), we cut to Daniel and Paul. Daniel tells Paul to look on the bright side, at least he opened his heart up to love. Daniel tells him he just needs to find a woman who is worthy of his love. Paul says he thought he had that with Dakota and Rebecca but its just been one disaster after another. Paul thinks its best just to quit. As Paul leaves, we go back to Nate and Susan.
Susan asks how much Nate has shared with Chris. If her partner had gone through this, shed want to know. Nate says Chris knew he was struggling, and he was amazing about it, but Nate didnt tell any details. He would have told Chris before he got hurt, now hell wait until Chris is better. Susan says he should talk to people about this, and he can always talk to her.
SUSAN: Nate, youre a good person, but youre carrying around so much pain and fear. If I can help you try to cope with that, then yeah, Id like to.
Amber asks Josh if he got things sorted at the garage. Josh did, and he tells her about Jayden and his mates asking him for fighting lessons. Josh is worried if other people see him as a tough guy. He asks if she saw him like that when they dated. Amber says she never felt scared of him, but he had a temper and that was part of the reason she couldnt be with him in the end. Josh admits he almost punched Jayden, but he didnt, he walked away. Amber says he should be proud of himself. Josh doesnt think he should, and doesnt think its enough.
Mark tells Daniel that he got a job offer back on the force. Hes got some time to think about it, but for now he has more important things to focus on. Mark tells Daniel that they got a full confession from Dakotas associates and theres no way theyll get out of a jail sentence. There's no sign of Dakota though.
Mark returns home but Paige isnt there. Mark sits down on the sofa and sighs.
Karl says Susan isnt qualified to treat someone with PTSD, its a job for a professional. Shes not able to turn her back on him. Nates given up more than they can possibly comprehend in the service of others and its harmed him. He needs someone. Karl would prefer it was someone else, but Susan insists she wants to help. She thinks Nate should stay at the house. Susan promises Karl that if she ever feels threatened shell walk away and Nate will have to leave.
Josh visits Chris and asks to come in. Josh says theres something he needs to do, and it concerns Chris. He asks Chris to hear him out.
- Mark tells Paige shell want to hear what he has to say. She tells him he has no idea what she wants.
- Carlita Montego checks in at Lassiters Hotel.
- Imogen tells Terese she is acting so weird.
- Sheila asks why Josh is visiting Chris. Josh leaves, and tells Chris to let him know. Sheila wants to know what hes talking about.
