- The police planning a raid on Dakota's bar.
Daniel/Amber's camp site
Matt drops by to see the duo who are keen to show off how much they've adapted to camping out. When he leaves, Amber apologises for her dad's behaviour, commenting that since the problems with Lauren started he's become so uptight. Daniel replies that there is no need for the apology and thinks Matt just needs time to adjust.
“I bet that cheeky smile gets you out of all sorts of situations,” Dakota comments to Mark when she spots him in the bar and tries to get from him why he bolted the previous night. She then suggests that to make it up they spend the day with each other since Daniel is handling things but Mark turns down her offer as he's got to go to work, instead telling her to enjoy her day off.
As soon as he is out of her sight, he calls Greta to say they've got a serious problem!
Nate tells Susan that he is meeting Chris' mum today (they never met at the hospital as they visited Chris at different times) and comments that ‘meeting the family' is new territory for him as he's never gone out with anyone long enough to do that previously. Susan tells him about meeting Karl's dad for the first time and she ended up spilling soup on him and jokes that would be a good ice- breaker with Patricia!
As they exit #32, Mark tells Matt about Dakota not being at work today but that Greta still wants the operation to go ahead as intercepting the shipment is more important. They plan things so that nothing goes wrong and that Daniel ends up in trouble.
Road outside Grease Monkeys
Daniel kisses Amber goodbye as he's to get to work, when Matt pulls up in the police car wanting a word… Daniel's going to be fined for jaywalking! He thinks it's a big joke and with Amber shouting out if her dad's “lost his mind,” Matt asks Daniel to get into the car. She then decides to jaywalk too, but all Matt says is that she is making things worse before pulling away.
Patricia is round feeding Chris up when Nate appears. Chris does the intros between them and invites Nate to stay and have some breakfast, but the atmosphere is a tad tense.
Paul is furious at Matt arresting Daniel and thinks it's just the latest ploy to get at him and thus is threatening all sorts of retribution. “Don't say anything you'll regret,” Dakota tells him prior to entering the station.
Some guy sitting having a coffee and reading the paper at The Brasserie calls out to her and she immediately recognises who he is and announces that they have to stall the delivery. She's told she will need to be there then as the delivery can't be stopped. “I can't,” Dakota protests but its falling on deaf ears and is simply told to “sort it,” by the guy before he walks off.
Paul then joins her at the table to announce that the police won't let him see Daniel. He notices that she's upset and after she explains why (Daniel was supposed to wait for the delivery while she want to meet a friend at the airport), volunteers instead to go be the one to collect the delivery. She is very grateful for his offer and thanks him with a kiss and a hug for volunteering.
Amber is trying to get Matt to release Daniel especially since she knows he can't be held for jaywalking (she's consulted Imogen) and his reply is that “he needs this,” and adds that it's to show Daniel that he can't go through life breaking laws even if some don't seem important.
AMBER: Or important at all.
MATT: It's a lesson he needs to learn.
Amber is told to come back in a couple of hours.
AMBER: I always knew you were petty but this is taking it to a whole another level.
When Amber leaves, Matt calls someone to tell them that Daniel doesn't leave the station under any circumstances before he then heads out of the building.
While they wait on Chris, Patricia is asking Nate some background information - how often he sees his family (not for a while), what his work is (shifts at Sonya's nursery) and he also explains that while he was initially just passing through, he's decided to stay for a bit but isn't sure whether he plans on sticking around or not.
Chris comes through, frustrated at not being able to do the buttons on his shirt and doesn't appreciate Nate helping him either but gives in and allows his mum to sort him out.
Mark, Matt and some other officers aren't exactly making themselves hidden from view as a van with the possible delivery pulls up next to PirateNet. He reports to Greta (he's using a hands free device) that there is no sign of Dakota and tells Matt that they're under orders to wait until the last possible minute in case she appears. Matt comments that there is a good chance she will turn up as the driver gets out of the van (it's the same guy Dakota was talking to at the Complex) as Mark compliments him on what he did with Daniel.
MARK: Where the hell is she?
MATT: We'll wait. If he makes a move we'll take him.
Dakota announces to Paul that she needs to leave and that he should leave too to be there for her delivery but Paul is more concerned with what he plans on doing to Matt!
PAUL: Can't trust cops or ex- cops! Matt, Brennan, they're all dodgy.
“Mark used to be a cop?” she asks and Paul confirms that he used to be a detective as Dakota suddenly looks worried and has flashbacks to some of her previous meetings with Mark. She announces that she needs to go but tells Paul that she will deal with the delivery herself.
Mark is pleading with Greta for more time as the delivery guy stands around impatiently and just as he shows signs that he is about to go, the police make their move, and move in.
The guy does a runner and Matt hastily gives chase (and eventually catches him) while Mark organises the silent officers to search the boxes that were in the van.
Using the information Mark obtained from Dakota's phone; he finds a package with the matching serial number and opens it to find a velvet pouch containing uncut diamonds.
MATT: Well at least we stopped the shipment.
MARK: Dakota can't get away with this.
Mark asks the Delivery guy where Dakota is but he plays dumb over who/where she is.
Lassiters Hotel (Dakota's suite)
Paul is calling Dakota from her room trying to find out where she is and if everything is alright. Just as he finishes the call, there is a loud thump on the door – the police have arrived! Paul lets them in and Mark asks where Dakota is as Matt instructs the others where to search. He refuses to answer and Matt orders him to but before he can, Mark asks if he knew anything about the delivery or had anything to do with it. Again, Paul refuses to answer until he's told what it's about, so Matt explains that Dakota is involve in a smuggling ring.
MARK: And you've been helping her intentionally or not, so if I were you I'd start talking and I mean right now!
Paul is stunned and the penny drops when he sees the pink orchid on the table that she's done a runner (earlier when they were talking at The Brasserie, he remembered buying her pink orchids and she commented about leaving one in her room the day he left).
It would appear that Patricia doesn't seem too taken with Nate's commitment to Chris as she asks him to move home. “You don't know him like I do,” Chris replies and she explains that she doesn't want him to be heartbroken on top of everything else.
CHRIS: He cares about me mum, he's loyal.
“I love how you see the best in people,” Patricia tells him and asks if Nate is ready for commitment. “Yes he is,” Chris immediately replies back.
Lassiters Hotel (Dakota's suite)
Paul is trying to explain to Matt/Mark that Dakota was simply a business partner and seems aghast when told what her real business is as well as trying to say that Daniel/himself aren't involved in any illegal activities.
PAUL: We are completely innocent!
Paul now tries to claim this whole thing is some sort of revenge Brennan is playing but Matt knocks that idea straight on the head and breaks it to Paul that Dakota conned him, if what he is saying is true. “Are you going to charge me with something?” Paul asks and Matt replies that he'll be brought in for more questioning and things checked before a decision is reached.
MATT: I will be in touch!
PAUL: I won't be holding my breath!
The police depart from the suite and Paul retrieves the tickets to the Seychelles that he bought for himself/Dakota before ripping both up.
Daniel/Amber can't believe that Dakota was smuggling diamonds as Matt adds that she was also involved with some very dangerous people. The penny now drops over why Matt did what he did too by arresting Daniel.
DANIEL: Your dad loves me!
Daniel sincerely thanks Matt for what he did although Matt isn't too amused at Daniel calling him “a softie”!
As the enter #26, Nate asks that he be the one to take Chris to physio in future rather than his mum. “Are you sure you really want to bother with all this?” Chris asks and Nate confirms with a puzzled look on his face that he wants to.
CHRIS: This is stuff that you do if you're.
NATE: If you're what?
CHRIS: If you're in it for the long- haul and if you're not, that's okay; I understand it's not easy.
NATE: Where's this is coming from?
CHRIS: I'm just saying that maybe it would be best for both of us if you just left now, no hard feelings.
Nate about turns and walks out of the kitchen/house and it now looks like Chris has regretted saying those words.
Car park somewhere
Nate is driving Susan and is frustrated at not being able to find a parking space and she comments that he is a bit tense, which he puts down to not being able to find a space. She also mentions that he's not said how it went with Chris today as he suddenly spots a space… at the same time as someone else who beats him into it.
“Is he for real?!” Nate bemoans then undoes his seatbelt to go get out of the car. Susan suddenly realising what is happening and calls out, “Nate, hang on.”
Having now got out of the car, Nate yells at the driver, “are you serious,” while walking towards him. Susan is quickly out of the car too, trying to get Nate to come back but he's only interested in confronting the driver who has nicked his space, yelling out who does he think he is! The other driver chooses to walk away but Nate pursues him and yells for him to move his car now.
Susan tries to restrain Nate from going after the driver and he severely objects to her touching him, forcibly pushing her arm off, while yelling out “don't touch me.” She isn't happy at seeing this side of Nate, indeed she looks almost scared of him.
- Karl wanting Nate out of the house.
- Chris asking Nate if they are breaking up.
- Josh being goaded.
- Mark trying to explain things with Paige.
- Dakota threatening to take Paul down with her if caught by the police.
