- Paige tells Terese she'll have to get used to Brad and Lauren spending time together with her
- Terese calls PI Tracey Wong and asks her to track down Paige's mother's phone number
Paige tells Lauren she's received a voicemail from her adoptive mum in Singapore – she sounds stressed, because a woman has called her and told her Paige is in Erinsborough with her biological parents. They wonder who could have made the call; Paige deduces it's a woman who doesn't like her.
In the garden, Terese absently waters the plants, as Imogen approaches. Terese admits she's done something that she's starting to regret. Brad comes out of the house, and Terese says she has a confession to make – but before she gets the chance, Paige marches around the corner.
PAIGE: What is wrong with you?! I get that you're threatened, but this?!
Terese admits she tracked down Paige's mother and called her, because she was mad with Paige after their conversation about Brad and Lauren spending time together while Paige was around. Brad sends Paige and Imogen away (Paige adding as she leaves that Terese's behaviour is ‘so uncool') and asks Terese to explain herself.
TERESE: You promised you wouldn't spend time with Lauren until I felt more secure. And that's what I need right now, is to feel secure.
Brad angrily highlights Terese's own promise to apologise to Lauren for her recent public outburst, when in fact she only half- apologised. He denies his spending time with Lauren was some kind of revenge for this, however.
TERESE: Yeah, but Lauren was there. And you knew that would hurt me.
BRAD: Yeah, I guess I did. But you didn't have to take it out on Paige.
Bailey and Alice are talking about space- junk, while assembling Bailey's telescope. Bailey notices a letter addressed to him from Space Camp on the side, and opens it. He has an interview for Space Camp at 5pm next Friday – and Alice tells him that her interview's directly afterwards at 5.30. She claims she found out this morning, and wonders if they scheduled Bailey first for a reason. Bailey doesn't want to think about it, asking if Alice is sure she even wants to do this anymore.
ALICE: I always finish what I start.
Imogen tells Amber about Terese calling Paige's adoptive mum, and they bond a little over the situation between their parents, comparing how Terese and Matt are coping with the revelation about Brad and Lauren's kiss.
IMOGEN: Our families are so messed up.
AMBER: At least we're completely normal, right?
They're about to go shopping together, when Daniel turns up – it turns out Amber's invited him too without telling Imogen. Imogen seems uncomfortable, and tries to suggest Amber and Daniel should go shopping on their own, but they insist Imogen come along as she wanted a distraction.
Alice unsuccessfully tries to get Bailey to agree to tell her the questions he gets asked when he comes out of the interview, but he's not falling for it.
ALICE: You can't blame me for trying. Chapter 13 of ‘The Art of War' – explore all intelligence leaks.
BAILEY: So I'm a leak now? Alice, we're friends, okay? We shouldn't be strategising against each other.
Bailey suggests they help each other instead, but Alice reminds him that only one of them can win – and by collaborating they'd each damage their own chances. Bailey goes quiet, saying he doesn't want it to be all tense like this between them. In which case, Alice says, she ought to go and study for the interview. Bailey hesitantly agrees.
Paige is checking her voicemail to see if her mum has called again, but she hasn't. Lauren is angry with Terese for ringing Paige's mum, but Paige admits it's partly her fault for giving Terese a serve earlier. Paige is worried that her mum might come and visit, as it would be a great excuse for her to ‘play the martyr'. Lauren thinks Paige's mum might be more understanding than Paige thinks about her searching for her biological parents. She suggests she call her and thrash it out, and let her come to Erinsborough if she wants to.
Amber, Imogen and Daniel are talking about ‘The Great Gatsby' by F. Scott Fitzgerald, when Amber suddenly makes an implausible excuse to leave. Daniel and Imogen realise they've been set up to spend time together, as Amber wants them to be friends. They laugh about it, but it's awkward.
IMOGEN: What do we do now?
DANIEL: We could humour her.
Imogen agrees, so they go off to do more shopping, and continue their literary discussion.
Amber comes home to find Bailey feeling very sorry for himself. He's upset because the Space Camp competition is getting in the way between him and Alice.
AMBER: Gets in the way of what?
BAILEY: Of our… Of our friendship.
Amber suggests he should put Space Camp first, given how important it is to him.
BAILEY: Yeah. Well Alice is important to me too, Amber.
AMBER: You really like her, don't you?
BAILEY: We have so much fun together. Until Space Camp comes up, and then it's weird again.
Bailey admits he can't talk to Alice about it because of how focused she is on Space Camp. Amber tells Bailey he'll have to decide what's more important to him – Space Camp or Alice.
Outside the Bric- a- Brac Shop
Daniel and Imogen are rifling through the second- hand clothes rail for costumes for Kyle and Georgia's party. This culminates in Imogen dressing Daniel up as Krusty the Clown. Imogen sees a ring she really likes in the shop window, and Daniel loves it too, asking if Imogen thinks Amber would like it.
IMOGEN: I think any girl would like it.
DANIEL: Except you of course. Because you're only into modern vintage, as I remember.
Imogen recalls the dress Daniel bought her to replace the one he ruined back when he first arrived in Erinsborough. Imogen apologises for being so rude back then.
DANIEL: Everything happens for a reason. If you hadn't hated the dress, then I would've never given it to Amber, and maybe we wouldn't have got to know each other.
Daniel proposes buying the ring for Amber, and Imogen sadly says he definitely should. To add insult to injury, Daniel takes her inside, saying he wants to see the ring on her hand to see how it would look.
Terese overhears Paige having a heated conversation with her mum on the phone. Her mum is too busy to speak to her, and Paige gets upset as she hangs up. Terese walks over.
TERESE: Paige, I am so sorry. I had no right to call your mother. I was just – I was just mad about what you said, and I acted impulsively.
PAIGE: That's fine.
TERESE: No, it's not – you're crying! So was that your mother? Was she angry?
PAIGE: I wish.
TERESE: What do you mean?
PAIGE: She was – what's the word? Indifferent. I go looking for my real parents, and I find them and get to know them. And the woman who raised me is indifferent.
TERESE: Darling, she was probably just in shock.
PAIGE: I shouldn't have assumed she'd even come here. She's not like Brad or Lauren. Or you. Well, at least I know where I stand with her.
Wiping away her tears, Paige goes into her house, while Terese looks worried. She takes out her phone and calls Brad, telling him he and Lauren should check on Paige.
Bailey comes in and tells Alice he's withdrawing his application for Space Camp because he values their friendship; this way she gets to go to the camp without competing with him. Alice can't believe he's giving up.
BAILEY: I enjoy spending time with you, Alice, and I don't want things to get weird between us.
ALICE: You're actually serious?
ALICE: You'd give up Space Camp for me?! Are you insane?!
She tells Bailey she hates seeing smart people waste their brains. She doesn't want to just win the Space Camp spot – she wants to beat Bailey to it. She says that of all the applicants she's Internet- stalked, he's the only one who poses any real threat to her application.
ALICE: Hanging out with you pushes me, and challenges me, and makes me do better. Look, I need you there with me. You can't give up.
BAILEY: Okay. Okay, fine. But as long as we promise each other that no matter what happens, we'll never let it get between us.
Alice agrees, but then informs Bailey she will crush him like a bug!
Lauren and Brad have come round to comfort Paige, as per Terese's suggestion. Paige is still upset at how cold her mother was with her, but Lauren suspects she might just not be good at expressing her feelings. Brad offers to call Paige's mum, but Paige thinks it might make things worse.
Terese arrives at the door, and Brad answers. Still feeling guilty, Terese offers to call Paige's mum to try and make things right – but Brad says it's too late for that. He invites Terese in to join them but she declines; she just wanted to check that everything was okay. Brad suggests they sit down and chat about everything later; Terese says that would be good, and leaves.
Daniel thanks Imogen for helping him find the ring for Amber, and adds that Imogen will look really good in her dress – claiming she might even pick up at the end of the night when Kyle's bucks' night combines with Georgia's hen party. Imogen claims she's not looking for a relationship, and Daniel immediately guesses she has the hots for someone. He correctly guesses that Imogen's mystery man is not at school, and is older than her.
DANIEL: Have you told him?
IMOGEN: I can't.
DANIEL: Why not? You don't strike me as the shy type. Or are you only confident with your head and not with your heart?
IMOGEN: He's already seeing someone.
DANIEL: Hmm. The unavailable man.
IMOGEN: Yeah. So I've just got to keep quiet and hope that the feelings go away.
DANIEL: I dunno. Do you guys have a Vibe™?
IMOGEN: Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
DANIEL: And what's his relationship with his partner like?
IMOGEN: it started off pretty rocky, but they're quite solid now.
DANIEL: Well breaking up a relationship is a terrible thing. But sometimes things are Meant To Be™. If you have an attraction to this guy that you can't deny, then it's worth seeing if he feels the same way.
IMOGEN: And how do I do that?
DANIEL: Just spend more time with him. If he does feel the same way then you'll know soon enough.
Daniel heads off to the garage, claiming he's doing some after- hours work on Hermione, and wishes Imogen luck with her mystery man.
DANIEL: He sounds very Great Gatsby.
Imogen smiles as Daniel leaves.
Daniel guides Amber into the garage, insisting she keep her eyes closed. When he finally tells her to open them, she looks around to see the entire garage interior adorned with candles.
DANIEL: This is where we decided to spend the rest of our lives together, so I wanted to come here and make it official. I've never felt this way about anyone before. You're all I can think about. When you're not around I feel empty, and when you're with me, everything just feels right.
He gets down on one knee.
DANIEL: Amber Turner, will you marry me?
AMBER (happy): Yes! Yes!
He puts the ring Imogen chose on her finger.
AMBER: It's beautiful.
DANIEL: You're beautiful.
As they kiss, Imogen comes in, and interrupts the happy moment. Amber shows Imogen the ring, and happily announces that she and Daniel are getting married. Imogen looks distraught.
