Previously on Neighbours
- Kyle and Kate kiss, after he admits there is something going on between them
- Jacob kisses Sonya. She's just about to tell Toadie, when Jacob turns up wanting Toadie's help because his in- laws want full custody of Elliott.
- Josh says whatever it takes, he wants to swim.
There's panic chez Willis as Josh can't find his lucky swimming cap, but fortunately it turns up. Terese is very excited that her son is swimming for a spot in the Commonwealth Games. She hands him a large plastic box of "protein rich snacks" she's made - something she intends to do more of now.
JOSH: This should last me the trials today, and the Games, if I make the Games.
She wishes him luck, and he and Brad head off.
Amber has chalked a big heart with "Good luck Josh" on the drive of no 32. He goes over to her, and she tells him to focus - on the trials not her. She wishes him good luck, and hopes it isn't bad luck. OK…
Jacob and Toadie are discussing the custody case in the living room (because it's the obvious place to discuss legal cases). Toadie asks him to look up any emails or letters relevant to the case, while Sonya looks after Elliott. Toadie gets a call from another client - which he takes in the kitchen (very private). He comments to Sonya that she's quiet: he expected her to have an opinion. She says she's got to change Elliott, and goes off to the bathroom, avoiding talking to Jacob as well.
No 26 (outside)
Kyle and Bossy are staring into space. Chris comes out and comments on it. Kyle says he was thinking. Chris, who is on his way to visit Hudson, wants to know what happened last night. Kyle says that he and Kate kissed. Chris wants to know if they talked about Georgia and the future, and Kyle says no, but that's why he's working - he's trying to figure it out.
CHRIS: Well, you're not going to find the answers in a spanner.
Susan and Kate are in Harold's. Susan hopes that Paul will sort out the budget for the radio station. (Woohoo!) Kate says she'll talk to him, but all the time she's looking at her phone. Susan calls her on it, and Kate says she's hoping for a call from Kyle. She hopes they're heading into "relationship territory". Susan looks disapproving, and says they should carry on with what they're doing.
Amber has put up a big banner saying Congratulations Joshua. Matt comes in and suggests she might be tempting fate. Amber snaps at Bailey who is trying to hook up his laptop to the TV so they can watch it on the big screen (as the TV coverage is delayed and it's live online). Matt offers to help, and Lauren says they could watch it on the laptop, but they get the same response. Bailey tells her she's stressing *him*, but that stresses her more. Chris has called by, and laughs when Lauren asks if he'd like to stay.
Dial- a- Kyle / Harold's
Kyle is just about to ring Kate when he gets a call from her. They chat briefly - apparently they're both having a good day. Kate returns to Susan, who asks her to look at a schedule, then changes her mind. Kate asks her about earlier, how she seemed disapproving when Kate mentioned Kyle. Susan says it wasn't that long ago that Kyle was with Georgia.
KATE: Are you judging me?
SUSAN: Kate, I'm not. I just don't want to see you get hurt.
Kate says that she's going into this with her eyes wide open. Susan points out when two friends are in love with the same man, someone is bound to get hurt.
Dial- a- Kyle
Kate arrives to see Kyle standing doing nothing, but when he sees her, he says he has to get to a job, even though it's a public holiday. He says he'll call, but he looks worried as he drives off.
Terese arrives, asking if they saw the first race. Amber snaps a reply.
AMBER: Barely, thanks to my idiot brother.
Bailey points out that he came last, which doesn't impress Terese. Amber says that's his worst event anyway. Bailey finally gets it to work as Josh's heat is in progress. He comes in fourth, but that is enough to make the final. Terese and Amber hug.
Jacob comments that he's not looking forward to going though Hannah's stuff. Toadie tells him to stay positive. He gets another client call, and Sonya comes through and helps Jacob get Elliott's stuff together. Jacob tells her he hates that he's lost her friendship because he was an idiot. He misses her support, particularly today, which would have been their wedding anniversary.
SONYA: I can't begin to imagine what… what you're going through, but um, sad as I am for your loss, something's changed between us. You crossed a line, and there's really no going back from there.
She thrusts his bag at him, and walks into the kitchen. Sadly he pushes the buggy out.
Kyle tells Sheila (who asked) that he's got a text from Georgia saying she's closed their joint bank account.
SHEILA: So what now? Back into Kate's loving arms?
SHEILA: Security camera. After Chris left, well, you and Kate were really the main feature.
Sheila wants to know what's going on. He says it's over with Georgia, and it felt right. Part of him still loves Georgia, but he's liked Kate ever since high school. Georgia's told him to move on, and if he doesn't try with Kate, he might miss out on something awesome. Sheila tells him to go and sort himself out.
Swimming trials / No 32
Josh tells the interviewer that he was disappointed. Back at no 32, they all assume he hasn't made it. But he continues, saying he couldn't be happier qualifying for the 100 metres.
NICOLE: You must be so pleased.
JOSH: How could I not be? I'm going to Glasgow!
They are all thrilled at no 32, especially when he thanks his mum and dad, and his sisters, with special thanks to Amber.
Sonya and Lauren are walking up the street. Having mentioned how excited Amber is, Sonya tells Lauren how Toadie has taken on Jacob's case, and that she hasn't told him about the kiss yet. Lauren says it's one thing saying it and another doing it. Sonya asks her to tell her what to do. Lauren says she has to work it out for herself.
Kyle apologises for bailing on Kate earlier, admitting that he needed time to think. He says that he'd talked to Sheila, since she'd seen everything on CCTV. Kate is sure that Sheila has an opinion, and Kyle says Sheila said he should talk to her. He says he's happy with what happened, and he want to make a go of it. Kate does too, but she wants it to be the real thing.
KATE: I can't be a rebound girl.
Kyle assures her he has too much respect to treat her like that. They agree to have dinner - exactly like a date.
Terese and Amber are waiting impatiently for Josh and Brad to arrive home. When they arrive, Amber and Terese welcome him enthusiastically. Brad has got all Josh's stuff and comments that he doesn't have to carry his own gear now he's an international athlete. Josh gets a text from Piper, who is checking out flights to Glasgow. Josh is excited at the thought of going to Glasgow, and of course there's Spain first! He's going for three months to train and bond with his team mates. Amber is less than enthusiastic about this news.
