Lauren sets her eldest son up for his first day at his new job with a big brekkie but it's not long before the conversation turns to Robbo. Mason wants to do something but she tells him not to, to leave it instead to her/his dad.
LAUREN: All you need to worry about is making a good impression on your first day at work.
Susan arrives to babysit Nell while Sonya is at work. She admits to Toadie that is also relieved to get out of the house away from Holly and adds that she isn't looking forward to having the girl live permanently with them. Toadie urges her to talk to Karl but she feels that she can't do that because Holly is his daughter.
Toadie calls round to apologise for his behaviour the previous night. Matt admits he is surprised that Robbo has again managed to evade being remanded again.
Vanessa and Lauren chat about the selling of the house (to Paul) as they work in the kitchen. Lauren is happy enough to have Paul as their landlord but tells Vanessa that Matt is dead against it.
“You're not pregnant are you?” Lauren asks when it seems Vanessa's mind is all over the place but is firmly told that it's Lauren's dream not hers!
Vanessa delivers Lucas a cupcake to celebrate the fact she's made her mind up that they will sell #32 especially since they need the money. “Now we just have to get a decent deal out of Paul,” Lucas replies and is told to phrase it that they need an offer that they literally can't refuse.
At the other side of the complex, Karl subtly quizzes Holly if she wants to live permanently in Erinsborough (with her mum's approval of course). Holly still thinks Susan doesn't like her, which Karl instantly dismisses instead saying that they just need time to get to know one another. She gives her approval for him to call Izzy but before he can, work calls him.
Susan (and Nell) meets Karl at the hospital to pick Holly up and promises to have a girly day with her but Holly's face is literally dead pan at the thought of that! Karl sends her outside to buy a doughnut and then explains to Susan why Holly made that face (she thinks Susan doesn't like her) and wants the pair of them to chat. She then confesses that she isn't comfortable with the idea of Holly living permanently with them especially if Holly doesn't accept her as that will make it uncomfortable for everyone.
KARL: It's got to be better than what's on offer with Izzy.
SUSAN: Karl, you know I'm never going to be a fan but do you really think she's a bad mother?
KARL: The woman is currently sailing round the Mediterranean having dumped her daughter on the other side of the world. Need I say more?
Susan promises to talk to Holly and takes a deep breath before going to find the girl.
Terese isn't amused at Paul being undressed when she comes into the suite for their meeting and orders him to be dressed when she returns in 5 minutes!
When she leaves, Paul chats to Mason (who was delivering some furniture) about his talk with Robbo the previous night! Mason explains that there is only two ways that they will get rid of him – either he goes to jail or is paid the $5k. Paul delivers some bad news to him that Robbo is planning on getting himself off the charges by saying that it was Bailey and Mason who committed the robbery (like what happened in Mount Isa). Mason wants to rush off to tell his dad/forewarn Bailey but Paul stops him as he has an idea of how to get Robbo out of their lives once and for all.
“I didn't think you'd care,” Holly comments after Susan stops her from having an accident with a kettle of boiled water.
SUSAN: I'm not that much of a monster am I?
Holly doesn't reply so Susan guides her over to the sofa for a chat. She tells the girl that despite their rocky start, she'd never wish for anything to happen to her. Holly confesses that she hasn't been nice either. Susan comes up with a suggestion that perhaps the tension has been cause because they are both scared of each other and that gets a nod from Holly.
SUSAN: I think what we have to do is just give each other the chance to know each other properly. What do you reckon? Will we give it a try?
HOLLY: I'd like that.
SUSAN: Yes, me too!
It looks like the ice has melted as Holly reaches over and gives Susan a hug, which she warmly returns. Susan then brings up what Karl has suggested and tells Holly that it's her decision whether she stays with them or not, just as long as she is happy.
HOLLY: I want to stay here but only if that's okay with you.
SUSAN: Well of course it is!
Vanessa is now mixing up orders but Lauren is quickly onto it (one of the customers is Bailey) and whispers to him the reason why – she's pregnant. Bailey is unsubtle as anything and asks her if she is having a baby! “No,” Vanessa firmly replies before scurrying back into the kitchen.
Lauren/Bailey then start talking about her having another baby and he definitely doesn't want to be a big brother! They then start talking about having to move unless Matt changes his mind and Bailey admits that he doesn't want them to move and is told to talk to his dad as it's him they need to convince.
A fully dressed Paul wraps up his meeting with Terese just before a guest arrives for a networking event (a card game) Paul has planned… except it's not exactly a true business networking card event but rather a trap for Robbo.
Karl runs into Toadie as he exits the store and tells him about wanting Holly to live permanently with them. Toadie warns it could be messy (legally, financially and emotionally) if Izzy doesn't give him a parental order.
KARL: I've got to do what's best for my daughter though and I truly believe that's staying with us.
Matt sees right through Bailey when he starts talking about rental properties. He makes it clear to his son that his position isn't going to change nor is it up for discussion either.
MATT: If Paul buys this place then we're not staying, end of story.
Lucas is round to tell Paul that they are ready to sell but only for a serious offer. Paul offers him more money… $500 more which Lucas thinks is an insult especially since the offer is still less than what he paid for #32. Even though the settlement date for the apartment is due shortly, Lucas rips up the offer and throws the shredded pieces of paper in Paul's face before walking out of the apartment.
Karl checks how things are going with Holly and Susan reports that they are now friends and about to have a tea party! It's lucky the thaw came at the right time because Karl has managed to contact Izzy and she's consented to Holly living with him.
SUSAN: What, just like that? She didn't even put up a fight?
Karl replies that it just proves its best that Holly lives with them but Susan fears that Holly may interpret it as her mum doesn't want her.
Number 28 driveway
Karl spots Holly sitting on the steps to the garage when he comes home from work. He mentions that he's heard she had a great time with Susan before telling her about contacting her mum and that she thinks it's a good idea for her to stay in Erinsborough. Holly isn't exactly jumping for joy, so he quickly adds that it was a difficult decision for Izzy as she will miss her terribly but promises to call constantly.
HOLLY: It's okay, you don't have to lie.
KARL: Oh sweetheart, it's not a lie. Your mum just thought being here in Australia would be a great opportunity for you, that's why she said yes.
Holly gets up from the step and hugs her dad.
HOLLY: I'm just glad you and Susan want me.
Lauren reports to Vanessa that she's been forgetful again – leaving the oven door open while trying to bake. “One of those days?” Terese asks and Lauren pipes up to say they will be continuing for nine months if she is correct! “You're not are you?” Terese asks and Lauren again pipes up to say why she thinks so – Vanessa has a classic case of baby brain.
VANESSA: Lauren's got it all figured out hasn't she?!
Vanessa leaves the counter and goes to where Lucas is sitting before dragging him into the kitchen. He thinks it's to discuss what happened with Paul but she stops him to say her bit first. She tells him that Lauren has been on at her about how forgetful she has been, she is completely exhausted baking like a mad woman and both Lauren/Terese think it.
VANESSA: I'm pregnant.
