Lassiters
Susan marches over to Paul, Karl following her. She interrupts Paul to ask him if he sold the paper. Paul is surprised she heard about it so fast, the deal only went through an hour ago. Paul says newspaper readership is dwindling and if he can't be editor then what is the point? When Susan asks about their jobs, Paul says it is down to the new owners, Globewise Communications. Erinsborough News will be merging with the West Waratah Star. Paul leaves, while Karl comes over to console an upset Susan.

KARL: I'm so sorry Susan, I know how much the paper means to you.
SUSAN: It's not just me, it's everyone, it's the staff, the readers. The paper is the voice of the community and he's just sold it as though it means nothing.
KARL: I've still got that room, if you want to go upstairs and we can talk things through.

Susan walks upstairs.

Number 24
Rani and Ajay are watching films, while Priya is in the kitchen. She finds a bag on the chair with Rani's textbooks in them. Priya asks why her textbooks are still in the bag as she said she'd get them covered for going back to school. Priya insists Rani covers them now but Rani continues to ignore her. Priya goes through and starts taking the books out for Rani.

Lassiters Hotel Room
Karl pours Susan some wine from the mini bar. Susan still can't believe this happened, and wonders why she didn't realise what Paul was up to, if she'd known she could have done something to stop it.

SUSAN: I could have made it harder for him. I could have pricked his conscience
KARL: Conscience? Paul? Spot the obvious mistake. Susan, there is an upside to this; you never have to work for him again.
SUSAN: Yes because I'll be out of a job
KARL: You don't know that, they might keep you on.
SUSAN. Yes, like a stray dog.
KARL: All I'm saying is with Paul out of the way things might actually improve.
SUSAN: How? We're merging with The Star of all papers.
KARL: Well you might get a chance to make it better
SUSAN: You're not going to let me dwell on this, are you?
KARL: No, not unless you want to
SUSAN: I think I want to.
KARL: Okay, let it out, let out any bad feelings you have about Paul, use expletives if necessary, just purge yourself of him, I'll just sit here and listen.
SUSAN: Really? Oh ho ho, where do I start?

Charlie's
Priya is sitting drinking alone when Paul enters, and comments on her being here alone. He doesn't blame her though, who wants to be with a family that hates you. Priya orders the bill, ignoring Paul. Paul wishes her luck for tomorrow as she'll need it; it's going to be a tough school year.

PAUL: I mean it Priya. The board is going to be watching you. The slightest disturbance or the smallest mistake, and you're gone.
PRIYA: Really Paul, this whole you can't have me so you have to punish me routine is getting old!

Priya walks out.

Lassiters Hotel Room
Susan and Karl are enjoying their wine, Susan mouthing off about the number of marriages Paul has ruined, not to mention how he treated Lyn. Susan doesn't usually like backstabbing but saying this makes her feel so good. Susan leaves to the bathroom, when there is a knock at the door. Sophie and another employee arrive with complimentary champagne and chocolates which is part of the package deal.

KARL: Is this free?
SOPHIE: That's what complimentary means. Although you can give tips!
KARL: Thanks Sophie

Karl pushes Sophie out the door and starts pouring champagne and offers Susan a strawberry. Susan declines, saying she's really not comfortable with this.

KARL: It's harmless.
SUSAN: Harmless? We're in the honeymoon suite, we're drinking champagne, you're offering me chocolate covered strawberries. What's next? Edible body butter? (Susan looks in the basket and finds just that) Oh that is unbelievable!

Susan throws the tub at Karl and gets her things. Karl insists he didn't order this, it was complimentary with the room, he can call the front desk so they can tell her. Susan says she shouldn't have come here in the first place and leaves.

Harold's
Kate says hi to Priya, Kate says she's got the first 4 weeks of term planned but she's still nervous about the first day of term. Kate tells Priya that everything that happened between her and Paul, has nothing to do with school. Even though Paul is her uncle, Priya is her boss and she respects her. Kate will always have her back, because she always has hers. Priya is really moved, and says she couldn't have heard that at a better time. She says it's good to know that someone is being supportive.

Number 30
Rani arrives, wondering if Callum is ready yet. He's not, he's in 'struggle town.' He complains about Nell crying all night and only Jade's CD would shut her up. He wishes he could sleep all day. Rani says he still can, he doesn't need to worry about Priya giving him a detention as he shouldn't care what she thinks. Rani says that her mum is pathetic, she's so desperate for Rani to like her that she's letting her do whatever she wants. She even managed to spend the whole night watching television. Rani says if she can get away with whatever she wants at home then school is going to be a lot of fun. Callum warns her not to try anything, Priya's mum won't put up with anything at school, she's just going to waste her time and make her mum look bad. Rani doesn't care about making her mum look bad.

Erinsborough High
Callum, Rani and Sophie arrive at school. Callum hopes he gets a bigger locker this year. They hear an announcement from Priya on the intercom asking the students to head to an assembly. Rani sits down, refusing to go to assembly and starts to listen to her ipod. Kate motions all the pupils to head to assembly, she tells Rani to put away her music and Rani refuses. Kate instructs Rani to go to the principal's office, but Rani says she won't go to be told off by her pathetic mother. Kate says Rani shouldn't behave this way, but Rani says Priya shouldn't have slept with Kate's sleazebag uncle. Rani refuses to follow Kate's instruction and continues to listen to her Ipod.

(Later)

Kate approaches Priya and tells her that Rani is refusing to go to assembly and to go to Priya's office. Priya thanks Kate for letting her know and goes to speak to Rani. As she approaches Rani, Rani stands up and walks past Priya, who doesn't say a word.

Lassiters Complex
Karl walks up to Susan and apologises for last night, the business with the champagne was not intentional, and he'd never take advantage of her. Susan tells Karl about the meeting she just had with the West Waratah Star. They're spinning that the merger will be good for both communities, but she doesn't have high hopes about what this means for her, as there will be two editors and only one job. Susan says they have a big shot coming over from the UK, who will have no idea about local stories or what the paper means to local communities. Karl offers Susan a coffee, but she has to go and debrief the staff.

Harold's
Rani tells Callum about Priya letting her away with skipping assembly. They see Ajay sitting, and go over to him, he's writing a song about himself called 'Hello, Familiar Stranger.' Ajay leaves, and Rani notes on how sad it is, Ajay used to be a high class lawyer and now he's bumming around writing pop songs about himself. He obviously doesn't know who he is anymore, and she blames Priya, who is going about working like she doesn't care. Rani thinks it's about time someone made her care.

(Later)

Rani is on her laptop at Harold's. She goes onto Facebook and types, 'The Principal Of Erinsborough High' and continues typing, we don't get to see what she writes. Kate arrives and tells her she should be at school. Rani shows Kate what she has written. Kate orders her to delete the post; she can't say that about her mother, it's disgusting. Rani says it is true. Kate says Priya will have to speak to her again. Rani tells Kate that Priya didn't speak to her earlier, in fact she hasn't spoken to her since last night, and Rani doesn't care if she never speaks to her again.

Erinsborough High
A pupil tells Priya that his dad is home alone if she wants his number. An angry Priya sends him to her office. Kate approaches and tells Priya about Rani's facebook post. Priya thanks Kate for telling her, she'll find Rani and bring her back.

(Later)

Rani greets Sophie and Callum but they're not happy with her as her post on facebook was really mean. Callum says she won't get away with it. As they leave, Priya walks over to speak to Rani. She asks Rani to explain herself.

PRIYA: Posting derogatory comments about me on facebook is completely inappropriate.
RANI: And having an affair with the next door neighbour is completely acceptable, is it?
PRIYA: What happens in my personal life is personal. You are disrespecting me in my workplace and I will not allow it
RANI: What's the matter? Worried you're going to get the sack?
PRIYA: You will remove that comment at once and you will never write anything like it again
RANI: Fine.
PRIYA: We're not finished. You also have a detention to make up for the time you deliberately missed this morning.
RANI: Detention? I'm not doing that!
PRIYA: Are you arguing with me?
RANI: Yeah!
PRIYA: Then let's make it a week of detentions
RANI: What?!
PRIYA: Actually let's make it two!
RANI: That's not fair!
PRIYA: How far do you want to push me Rani? Suspension? Expulsion? Because I will not have you or any other student at my school behaving like this. Is that understood? Is that understood?
RANI: I hate you!

Rani storms off, while a shaken Priya exclaims that Rani will start her detention tonight and she shouldn't be late.

Number 24
Ajay is writing his song when Rani bursts in, shouting that she hates her mum. She tells Ajay she was given a two week detention. Ajay asks what she got it for, and eventually admits that she skipped an assembly and wagged a class and posted something on facebook. Ajay is shocked, she can be angry at her mum, but shouldn't take it to school and he says she's lucky she got off as lightly as she did.

AJAY: Rani, you made it public! I probably would have expelled you
RANI: I'm only doing all this because I'm on your side
AJAY: Rani, sweetie, it's not about sides. It's about being a decent person.
RANI: She ruined your life, ruined my life, don't you hate her too?
AJAY: All those feelings are no excuse for you to behave the way you did. You deserve to be punished
RANI: I don't care, I'm not going.
AJAY: Yeah Rani, you are
RANI: Then I hate you too!

Tomorrow on Neighbours
- Priya is so happy that Ajay feels this way about her, and can start to move past what happened.
- Paul tells Priya she has Ajay wrapped around her little finger, but she won't be happy with someone as spineless as him.
- Kyle holds a Car Wash to raise money for the fund for Patrick Villante, he and Georgia play around with the sponges and water.
- Kyle says that Georgia was all set to go out for dinner with him but then changed her mind when Rhys said he wasn't going.
