Jessica takes Rhys into an office. He asks why he's been told to step down and Jessica says it's on her orders. She's worried that he's pushing himself too hard, too soon. He points out that she said something different earlier. Jessica says it's been brought to her attention that his recovery might not be what it seems. She has a duty of care to her patients and would be liable if something goes wrong. Rhys says he's OK. Jessica says he must resit the tests. Rhys insists that he's passed.
JESSICA: Then you won't have any problems passing them again.
She tells him to go home and he can do the tests tomorrow, but he wants to do them straightaway. Jessica says he'll have to wait until after surgery. Rhys looks exasperated.
There's a knock at the door, then more knocking. Callum eventually answers it and it's Harley. Callum asks him about the movie, but says he's not in the mood to hang out. Harvey (in an "edgy" way) tries to apologise for getting together with Rani. At first, Callum doesn't respond but eventually says that Toadie and Sonya are on his case because they think he stole money from the nursery. Harley asks why his parents would think it was him? Callum explains that it was because he's got new shoes, though he says he wouldn't be dumb enough to steal money and immediately spend it on something and flash it around. He tells Harley that he didn't take anything, and he's being made to pay it all back. Harley looks thoughtful and says it sucks. He says he has to go.
Vanessa comes in. She calls Rhys, and it goes to voicemail.
Rhys is lying on a bed looking morose (over The Sea Is Calling).
Vanessa is carrying stuff through from the kitchen as Kate enters. Vanessa knocks something off the counter, and Kate comes over to help her. She asks if everything is OK and Vanessa tells her she didn't get much sleep. Kate guesses it's Rhys.
Various clips of Rhys walking around the room (over The Sea Is Calling).
Vanessa tells Kate that Rhys is having troubles at work, and that she "might have" got involved.
VANESSA: He probably knows that by now, and he probably wants to kill me.
Vanessa says that Rhys is not answering her calls, and that he didn't go home last night. Kate suggests he might need time to calm down. Vanessa says he may be dealing with the fallout.
Jessica comes in and is surprised to find Rhys. He points out that he said he'd wait! He shows her that he's set up the equipment for the tests and says if he must do the them again, he doesn't want to wait. Jessica agrees that there's no point in messing around.
Vanessa tells Kate that she didn't want anything to happen to Rhys that he might regret, and Kate reassures her she did the right thing. Vanessa is not sure Rhys will see it that way. Kate asks if Vanessa would be feeling better if she had kept quiet - she did what she had to do.
Jessica tells Rhys to relax, then asks him to make a fist for the test.
Rhys is pacing up and down the corridor. Jessica approaches him and says it's disappointing. There's little or no improvement in his hand, and it means his nerve control will never be good enough to be a surgeon. Rhys looks gutted. Jessica tells him she's double checked the results, and the first results were misleading. She insists that this is not end of his career. But Rhys knows it won't be in surgery.
Rhys is walking out of the hospital and stands in the doorway, looking stunned. Somebody bumps into him going in. He throws his ID on the ground and staggers to his car. He thumps the steering wheel in rage.
Harley sneaks into the nursery, keeping out of sight. He sees Sonya put some money in the till and then walk off. Then he walks up to Callum, who says he is working. Sonya reminds Cal of something else he has to do, and Harley deduces she is still annoyed at him. He asks Callum if he wants to hang out, but Callum says he's grounded, and anyway he's working the rest of the day. Harley asks Callum to split a $10 note for 2 $5s and Callum walks over to the till and finds the money underneath. He calls Sonya over, and tells her it must have caught under the till yesterday. He insists that he didn't take it, and says he's surprised she didn't see it. Sonya sarcastically says it strange how he got caught stealing yesterday and now it's reappeared. Callum can't believe what she's saying. Sonya counts it and there's still some missing. Harley looks uncomfortable. Sonya tells Callum he's got to stop lying, and Cal says he's not. Harley butts in and says he did it. Sonya asks if he's covering for Callum. He says he isn't. He took it, the put it back. It's short but he promises to pay the rest back. Sonya apologises to Callum for assuming he'd stolen the money and Harley says sorry too. Sonya calls Kyle, because she can't trust Harley. Callum scowls.
Harley walks in and Kyle comes out from his room. He tells Harley he can't keep stealing and asks why he didn't learn his lesson after stealing from Rhys. Harley says he need the money and Kyle had turned him down. Kyle said he had turned down an advance, and Harley couldn't always get what he wanted. The phone rings, but Kyle ignores it. Harley says he was bored. Kyle is totally unimpressed and tells Harley to pack his bags, because he's going home. Kyle says it's like banging his head against a brick wall and he doesn't care anymore.
HARLEY: Yeah, well, this place sucked anyway, mate.
Kyle picks up his phone and sees that the call he missed was from Jade, which makes him even more annoyed.
Harley throws his bags in Kyle's ute, while Callum and Sonya are walking home. Sonya tells Callum they are going to have lunch, but he wants to talk to Harley. He reminds Harley that he stole from Sonya and let him take the blame, even when he was paying back the money.
HARLEY: I told them, didn't I?
CALLUM: Yeah, eventually.
HARLEY: Well, I didn't have to. Could've gotten away with it.
CALLUM: You're such a good guy(!)
Harley tells him that Kyle is sending him home to where nobody cares, so Callum can go home to his mum and dad and friends and new shoes. Harley walks off and leaves Callum looking thoughtful.
Kyle is about to leave when he gets notification of a video call. It's Jade, who is going out clubbing, although she says it's not going to be a big night.
KYLE: Have you met anyone important yet? J- Lo, Li- Lo, any of the Loes?
He tells Jade about Harley stealing again, but that this time he had confessed. Jade is surprised, because he never does that. [She's known him such a long time.] Kyle says it was because Callum was getting blamed, but she says it's a step in the right direction. Kyle reiterates that Harley [I]stole.[I] She thinks Kyle is making a difference because at least Harley owned up. Jade has to leave.
Callum walks in. Kyle apologises for what Harley did and Callum says it's cool. He says that Harley knows it was lame and has apologised. He asks if Kyle is sending him home. Kyle says that Harley living with him isn't working out, but Callum asks if it will work out better for Harley in Frankston. He tells Kyle when he first arrived he got in trouble and used to steal. Toadie could have got rid of him, but didn't. Callum suggests that owning up counts for something.
Kyle tells Harley that Callum and Jade think Harley should get another chance. He tells Harley that it is his last chance. Harley says he understands and thanks him. Kyle says he should thank Jade and Callum. He goes off to work, and Callum comes over to see if Harley is staying. Harley thanks him, but tells him (in a friendly sort of way) he's an idiot. If he'd left, Callum could have had a free crack at Rani. Callum says maybe he will anyway, to which Harley replies bring it on. Callum groans after Harley leaves.
Rhys comes in and throws one of his surgery books in the bin. Vanessa comes in and sees Rhys disposing of a couple more. She tries to stop him, then says they need to talk.
RHYS: Like you haven't said enough already?
VANESSA: I didn't tell them you changed the test results.
RHYS: You might as well have.
Rhys tells her to leave, but she refuses to go until they have sorted it. She tells him she had to say something in case he endangered someone's life. He says angrily that he would never do that. She acknowledges that he would never do it on purpose. He says that she has no idea what she is talking about, and she has ruined his career. All he ever wanted to do was be a surgeon and now he's got nothing. She walks out, upset.
Vanessa is sobbing when Lucas comes in and finds her. He asks what happened and she tells him it's Rhys. He says it's OK and she says it's not. He puts his arms around her and lets her cry on his shoulder.
