Sonya has a bowl of prunes and is planning on watching 'Juno', only to be met by eugh sounds from Callum. Toadie arrives and tells Sonya they should go to the relaxation class at the Community centre, but Sonya wants to relax at home. Toadie drags her to her feet and insists they go to the class. She reluctantly agrees.
Number 24
Lucas asks why Vanessa is refusing to live at Number 32, she says she knows what happened with Troy there and it has a bad vibe. She doesn't want to live there. Lucas suggests it's because she doesn't want to live with him, but she says it isn't, she just doesn't want to live there knowing what happened.
Harold's
Lucas presents Vanessa with tarot cards, rabbit's feet and various other superstitious things to cleanse the house. Vanessa says it won't work, this isn't about superstitions, its about her instincts. She's not afraid, it just doesn't feel right. Lucas says she'll be gone for three months and when she gets back she'll need a place to stay. She says she'll be fine, she'll find a place herself and she's done talking about it.
Harold's Exterior
Callum, Rani and Sophie argue about which films to see at the cinema, nothing good is out. Priya and Ajay arrive, and ask for a word with Rani. They ask Rani if she's going to wear her glasses, which she needs to wear if she's looking at screens. Priya insists that if she wants to go to the movies, she has to wear them. Rani says she will, and leaves with her friends. Priya wishes Ajay would support her. He says Rani is just embarrassed in front of her friends, he'll talk to Rani but he won't push her. Priya wishes she didn't always have to be the bad guy. Ajay has to leave, he tells her not to worry so much, it's just a stage, but Priya doesn't find that very comforting.
Harold's
Toadie and Sonya are ordering food, when he starts asking Vanessa questions about her pregnancy, guessing how far along she is and asking whether she's experiencing any headaches or cramps. When he starts giving advice, Sonya sends him away to bring the car around. With Toadie gone, she starts moaning to Vanessa about how full on Toadie is being - making her a colour coded schedule of when she should eat and sleep and what classes she should go to. Everything is planned down to the last minute down to the birth. While she does find it stifling, she does feel lucky that Toadie is so supportive. Vanessa says Sonya's also lucky that the father of her baby is also her partner.
Ramsay Street
Lucas stands on the front garden looking at Number 32. His speech to the Gamblers Anonymous meeting flashes through his head, he admits that he's not buying the house for the baby, he's buying it for Vanessa because he loves her. Sonya and Toadie return home with coffee's, she leaves to speak to Lucas, ignoring Toadie's suggestion that she go inside to put her feet up. Lucas tells Sonya he's bought Number 32, she's thrilled for him and Vanessa. Lucas tells her that Vanessa isn't moving in because of what happened with Troy. Sonya thinks he should speak to Rhys, see if he knows if there's anything more to it. Lucas refuses to ask him.
Number 26
Lucas visit Rhys, and asks him if he knows why Vanessa won't move in with him. He asks Rhys if he'd be able to change Vanessa's mind. Lucas explains why it'll be great for her and the baby if she moves in, but Rhys says it's Vanessa's decision, he won't tell her what to do. Lucas asks if he has a problem with Vanessa living with him, but Rhys doesn't have a problem with it.
RHYS: Lucas, you're not a threat. Vanessa and I are together, you're just the baby's father, you'll always be the baby's father, but that's it.
LUCAS: You need to tell her you don't have a problem with it.
RHYS: It's nothing to do with me, it's up to her.
Lucas thanks him and leaves.
Harold's
Vanessa's cooking in the kitchen when Rhys enters. He asks why she's not moving in with Lucas. She admits it's nothing to do with Troy, she just used that as an excuse because she didn't want to live with Lucas. She says it's complicated because she's going to live with Rhys in Japan for 3 months, and it seems a bit mixed up if she were to return to live with Lucas, like she's sending out different messages. She doesn't want to make it seem like she's hedging her bets in case things don't work out with him. 3 months is a long time so early on in their relationship and she's worried it'll be a disaster. Rhys doesn't think it will be and he tells her she's over thinking things. Where she decides to live won't change how he feels about her. She wants things to be perfect for when the baby comes, Rhys says they should just take it one day at a time. They kiss.
Meanwhile, Rani, Callum and Sophie are choosing another movie to go and see, the movie Callum chose was shocking, and they ended up walking out. Priya asks to speak to Rani, asking her where her glasses are. Rani says they look ugly, but Priya insists she wears them for computers, phones or any screen. Rani takes them and sits back down, putting on her glasses while she looks at Callum's phone for cinema listings. Callum admits that he used to wear glasses until he grew out of it. After Sophie kicks him, he says that she'll probably grow out of it too.
Number 30
Sonya is relaxing while Toadie makes dinner. He tells her that they have another class tonight scheduled tonight on safety. Toadie brings out a first aid book so that they can study.
Number 24
Sonya comes round, finally escaped from Toadie. She wants to relax and hang out, away from Toadie who's behaving like a drill sergeant. Lucas starts ranting about how little Rhys was when he spoke to him, and how Vanessa didn't appreciate him buying the house for her. Sonya gives up and walks out.
SONYA: I came here for a break, not to get ear-bashed some more.
LUCAS: I'm venting, Sonya
SONYA: I already know all this. Vent to Vanessa!
Harold's
Lucas enters and wants her to tell him straight what's going on. He bought the house for her and the baby so they could be secure and bring up the kid together. Vanessa thinks its okay and she agrees to move in. What happened with Troy was in the past, and she was overreacting. She does appreciate what he's done for her, and she wants to move in with him. She'll still pay rent and her share of the bills as normal, and wants first pick of the bedrooms. Lucas says this calls for a celebration, he'll get a bottle of non-alcoholic bubbles and meet her back at their new house. She corrects him that it's his house, she's just renting.
Lassiters Complex
Ajay leaves his office, meeting Rani. She tells him the film was bad, but mum was worse. She embarrassed her in front of her friends. Priya arrives with a new pair of glasses that she bought for Rani. Rani looks at them, trying them on, looking at her reflection in the glass. Ajay is very complimentary, Rani quite likes them and thanks Ajay before leaving. Ajay tells Priya that was a really nice thing to do, but Priya notes that Rani didn't want a bar of them until he said something. No matter what she does, she's the control freak, and he's the perfect father. Ajay says that Rani loves her.
Ramsay Street
Lucas stands on the front garden again, Vanessa arrives with champagne glasses, ready to celebrate. She invites Rhys over, and asks him to join them. They ask Lucas to make a toast - he toasts to new beginnings. Rhys and Vanessa kiss, and Lucas walks away to stare at the house again.
Community Centre Exterior
Toadie is really pleased with the course, and wants to do a refresher course in a few months. As he looks through the schedule to see if he could fit it in, Sonya notices he's booked a hospital for the birth. She's annoyed he didn't pass this by her first. She doesn't want to have a baby in a hospital, she wants to have a baby at home. He didn't realise that, but that's because he never asked. Toadie doesn't want to take any risks and he says the safest place to have this baby is in a hospital, there's no other safe option.
Number 30
Sonya tells him to cancel the hospital booking as she's having a home birth.
SONYA: I thought we talked about this.
SONYA: You railroaded me. You didn't listen to anything I had to say or what I wanted.
TOADIE: I just want everything to go smoothly.
SONYA: Jarrod. When I had Callum, it was a mess. The birth was fine, and Callum is perfectly healthy but I didn't have anyone, I was a wreck, I didn't even know if I wanted the baby, it was horrible and I never want to go through anything like that again.
TOADIE: I'm sorry
SONYA: I know you want to be part of this pregnancy, and I love that you're going out of your way but it is getting to the point where I feel I don't have anything to do with any decisions.
TOADIE: Yeah, you're right. I've been going completely over the top and I'm sorry, I'll lighten up, I promise.
SONYA: Then cancel the hospital.
TOADIE: You need to have the baby in a hospital
SONYA: No I don't
TOADIE: What happens if something goes wrong, you need to be somewhere where there are doctors and machines and everything that you need.
SONYA: I need to be somewhere where I feel supported and secure and comfortable
TOADIE: In a hospital!
Sonya says she wants natural experience in her own home. She needs to do this her way.
