Erinsborough Hospital
Rhys sits down with a coffee, contemplating the events from earlier in the day.
Number 30
Sonya finds her sister gazing out the window. Jade admits she's worried about what may happen next with Troy. Sonya reassures her sister that they will support her whatever happens and that Toadie has already gone into work early to try and find her a good lawyer.
Erinsborough Hospital
Rhys sends a quick text to Vanessa to see if she wants to meet for breakfast.
Number 30
Callum appears and wonders what his mum and aunt are talking about. Sonya tries to change the subject by offering her son a full English breakfast, but he's not convinced. Callum asks his mum to just be honest with him and Jade agrees.
Erinsborough Hospital
Vanessa texts back and Rhys heads off to see her.
Number 30
Sonya explains Toadie isn't in trouble with the police, but has gone into the office to talk to lawyers regarding Troy. She reveals how Troy told the police that what happened to him was her and Jade's fault. Callum wonders how he even spoke to the police if he wasn't conscious. Sonya reminds them all that they don't yet know the full details and they shouldn't be speculating.
CALLUM: What if he dies?
SONYA: Well that's not going to happen.
CALLUM: He might
JADE: If he dies, I might be in trouble.
The scale of the situation they are all in begins to dawn on Callum.
Number 26
Rhys arrives home from work and Jade pressures him to tell her the latest update on Troy. Rhys informs her that he has a duty of confidentiality to his patients, but Jade is too worked up to let the matter go. Rhys reports that Troy is still in a coma and they don't know his prognosis. Jade is determined to find out how the police know Troy's side of the story if he's been in a coma the whole time he's been in hospital. Rhys refuses to talk and heads off to have a shower. It slowly dawns on Jade that it was Rhys who told the police.
Number 30
Sonya tries to talk to Callum about the situation. Sonya asks if Callum would like to go and visit Troy in hospital but her son is adamant that he doesn't want to see him. Sonya tells him it would be okay if he does, but the teen is not about to change his mind.
Charlie's Bar
Paul has shouted Sophie breakfast but she's not eating, so something must be up. He advises his niece to stop avoid Callum as it's not helping.
Kyle pops in to grab some breakfast. Kate asks about an update from the hospital and he reveals it's not looking good for Jade. Kate agrees she'll get in touch with Jade as Kyle heads off to work.
Sophie comes over to get the gossip between her sister and Kyle. Kate asks her sister not to say anything about her and Kyle; besides Jade is her best friend and she has no intention of hurting her.
Ramsay Street
Jade returns from her run and spots Rhys heading out. She confronts him about telling the police and he admits he passed on the message. Jade can't believe he would go straight to the police without considering the implications it has for her.
JADE: Why would you do that? After what he did to me. That's why you came to me. To get my side of the story and yet you still told the police what he said.
RHYS: Jade, you punched him.
JADE: Hiss FALL was an accident
Rhys maintains that he was just doing his job; he simply told the police what Troy had said; that Jade hit him.
RHYS: I had a duty of care.
JADE: What about a duty to your mates?
Kyle arrives just in time as Jade lunges for Rhys. Rhys continues to walk away as Kyle catches Jade and escorts her inside.
Number 26/Number 24 (switching scenes)
Inside, Jade is fuming and Kyle has to physically stop her storming back out after Rhys.
Rhys goes over to visit Vanessa.
Jade is adamant that she wants Rhys out of the house, but Kyle reminds her he was just doing his job. Kyle reassures her he's on his side.
Rhys claims he didn't have a job. Vanessa points out it's not about sides; it's about doing the right thing.
Kyle wonders why Jade is so worked up over Rhys, and begins to wonder if something else is going on.
Rhys feels he doesn't have Vanessa's support. She asks if he would've done the same thing if it had been her, but he can't bring himself to answer. Vanessa asks him to leave.
Charlie's Bar
Rhys arrives in a foul mood to grab some lunch. Rhys refuses to say anything to Kyle, but Kyle knows he was just doing his job and he'd hate to be in his shoes right now. He informs Rhys that Jade wants him to move out of the house and suggests Rhys stays away a few nights; just while Jade calms down. Rhys realises there's not a lot he can do.
Harold's Store
Callum joins Sophie who apologies not helping the situation, but Callum isn't bothered. He explains how Sonya has suggested he go and visit Troy, and Sophie is surprised to hear he has no intentions of visiting Troy in hospital. Sophie explains how she wishes she'd gone to visit her mum in hospital when she had the chance, but Callum feels his situation is different and doesn't want to hear her sob story.
Paul arrives to find Callum leaving. He reminds his niece she can't fix her friends problem; she just needs to be there for him.
Lassiter's Complex
Lucas finds Callum heading off home and enquires after Sonya. Callum gives him a lame answer and explains how he's fed up of everyone asking how he is. Lucas agrees; what he does is his decision. If he wants to see Troy, that's up to him and no one else.
Erinsborough Hospital
Callum has come to the hospital and hovers outside Troy's room. He eventually chooses not to enter and heads home.
Number 30
Back home, Sonya listens as her son explains how he almost visited Troy.
CALLUM: He's not my dad, but it's more than that. I went down there because I thought it was the right thing to do. Saying goodbye to your family. But Toadie took me in when no one else would, and he didn't have to do that; and then you came along and now we're all together.
SONYA: Oh Cal, I love you. We both do.
CALLUM: Troy might have been my biological father; but he's not my family. Even if he dies, it doesn't change the sort of person he is.
Callum tells his mum he doesn't want to see Troy ever again; even if he gets better. They hug.
Ramsay Street
Callum is about to head out on his bike, when Sophie kicks a football at him. She claims she's up one-nil and quickly makes it two-nil, so he better fight back or else he's going to be beaten by a girl. Callum tries to get out of it, but she's having none of it and very quickly the two friends are kicking a football around on the street.
Charlie's Bar
Vanessa pops round to discuss dinner options with Kate. Before she has a chance to head off Rhys spots her and insists she lets him explain his side of things. Outside work; Troy is a piece of scum, but inside work his personal opinion stops counting and he has a moral obligation to act in his patients best interests.
RHYS: Do you think it was easy for me to go to the police? When he told me what she had done, the last thing I wanted to do was report it. But if I hadn't said anything and he'd died, no one would've spoken out for him.
VANESSA: You still don't know what he said was true.
RHYS: That's not my call to make. I didn't ask for him to tell me and after what's happened, I wish I wasn't in the bloody room when he woke up. But he told me; all I did was pass it on.
Vanessa seems to realise what's he's saying but is still concerned about Jade. Rhys asks he what she would like him to do if it was her in the hospital and not Troy?
Lassiter's
Vanessa finds Rhys organising a room for the night. She invites him to stay at her place instead and they head off together.
Number 24
Kate heads off leaving Rhys to help Vanessa transform the sofa into a bed for him. He thanks her for earlier and she admits he surprised he. They kiss briefly before she heads off to her room.
