On the road
Lucas is motorbike again (he must be angry or upset), though perhaps in addition to the usual stock footage, we now hear Vanessa, Sonya and Lucas's words echoing through Lucas's mind as he returns to Ramsay Street.

Number 24
Kate is making dinner when Lucas arrives in a bad mood. Kate tries to encourage Lucas to go to Jade's party, he says he'll think about it.

Number 26
Kyle finds his new dog devouring a box of tissues, and quickly hides the dog in the laundry room. Jade comes in and suggests she and Kyle have 'an early night' and she gets an 'early birthday present' - whatever that means. She uses plenty of other vague euphemisms, but Kyle turns her down, he tells her he has a present planned for Jade's birthday and he'll need to be up early to get it all ready. As Kyle leaves, he says he'll see Jade in the morning, despite it still being day time.

(Later)

It's now the middle of the night. The dog is making a lot of noise in the laundry room, so Kyle comes in wearing nothing but a pair of shiny green boxers. He takes the dog out to the garden, and when he comes back, he meets Jade who is also up getting a drink. They say goodnight. Then Rhys enters and finds Kyle with the dog. They talk very loudly about it (remarkably Jade doesn't hear what they're saying even though she calls for them to quieten down.) Kyle assures Rhys he won't have to take care of it, and he says he is really excited about giving it to Jade, and plans to get the dog's name-tag engraved for tomorrow.

Lassiters
It's the next morning, Lucas arrives at Lassiters and finds Paul and Susan arguing about the front page of the paper. Lucas asks Paul to give Vanessa another job. Paul works out that Lucas must be the father of the baby, he tells Lucas he won't give a Vanessa a job, and the responsibility lies with Lucas.

Number 32
Lucas visits Toadie and tells him that Paul's not hiring Vanessa because she's pregnant. Toadie says this sort of thing is hard to prove.

Number 26
Kyle talks on the phone about the engraving for the dog's collar, Jade walks in and overhears, assuming that he's talking about an engagement ring. Jade goes through for breakfast and tries to discourage Kyle from getting her a big present. He tells her she'll give her the present at the party, in front of everyone, Jade looks increasingly nervous.

Harold's
Vanessa arrives and hands the CV over to Margie, the speaking extra behind the counter, in case they are looking for staff. Vanessa soon realises she doesn't have enough money to buy her shopping, and starts handing food back. Lucas arrives and offers to pay for the shopping, and give her money for rent, but Vanessa refuses, she doesn't want anything from him.

LUCAS: Yeah, you need nobody but yourself. I don't know why I bother to make the effort
VANESSA: Well you shouldn't have made the effort 6 weeks ago and that way I wouldn't be pregnant with your child!

Charlie's
Toadie tells Susan that he and Sonya have stopped trying for a baby. Meanwhile Vanessa asks Paul for a job, she very confidently says the guy that Paul hired wasn't as good as her. Toadie conveniently chooses to interrupt Paul's discussion at this moment to tell Paul not to fire someone because they're pregnant. Vanessa asks how Paul found out she was pregnant, he was told by the father of the child, Lucas.

Lassiter's Complex
Vanessa leaves Charlie's, just as Lucas and Kate are walking past. Vanessa rushes over and whacks Lucas with her handbag. Vanessa yells at Lucas for telling Paul, and tells him that she doesn't want anything from him.

Number 30
Kyle comes around to ask for tips about the dog. Sonya suggests he be firm with the dog now so that it knows its place, and while it'll be hard to do it'll be better for him in the long run.

Jade arrives, so Kyle pretends he was checking the kitchen and leaves. After Sonya wishes Jade a happy birthday with a hug, Jade ask why Kyle was over here and wonders if he was planning her surprise gift. Sonya refuses to divulge Kyle's surprise, but does say that it is a huge commitment, and once she gets used to it, one of the best things they ever do.

Number 26
It's Jade's birthday party, the room is filled with all of Jade's friends (only Toadie and Sonya - the rest are extras. Rhys isn't even there.) Toadie and Sonya sit on the couch gossiping about Vanessa. Kyle comes looking for Jade, who is nervously waiting in her room. Kyle brings Jade out, and then makes a big announcement in front of the guests.

KYLE: I reckon the last few months have been some of the most confusing, frustrating and stressed out time of my life. But they've also been the best. Since we hooked up, and since things have started to settle down, it's taught me that we did the right thing. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me.

Kyle gets down on a knee, prompting Jade to stand up. She says that this is a mistake, just as the dog runs into the room, with a heart-shaped balloon attached to it. Kyle picks the dog up, and wishes Jade a happy birthday.

Kyle and Jade talk in private in the laundry room. Jade tells Kyle she was expecting him to propose. Kyle assures Jade that they only just got together and he won't ask her right now.

KYLE: You freak out when I talk about sharing a room, as if I'd ask you to marry me? I can't promise I'll never pop the question though. One day.
JADE: And I can't promise I'll say yes either.
KYLE: I know. I get that. But I reckon I'm smart enough to wait until my odds of getting a yes are just a bit better.

Kyle wishes her a happy birthday, giving Jade the dog, and a kiss. Meanwhile Lucas enters the party and says hi to Toadie and Sonya.

Charlie's
Vanessa apologises to Kate for her temper. Kate assures her that Lucas is a good guy, but Vanessa doubts it. She insists she doesn't need his help.

Number 26
Lucas says he keeps trying to help Vanessa but she keeps cutting her off. Sonya thinks Vanessa's just scared. Lucas says Vanessa's the one running away and he's fine with it.

Charlie's
Vanessa reveals to Kate that she is staying in her car, she doesn't have a job and her family is in Italy. Kate offers for Vanessa to stay with her.

Ramsay Street
As Kate shows her where she lives, Vanessa realises that Kate lives with Lucas. Lucas walks down the driveway and refuses to have Vanessa living with them.

KATE: You did this to her. You put her in this situation, which means you need to deal with the consequences.
LUCAS: Look I'll pay you rent on another place.
VANESSA: I don't need your charity.
LUCAS: But you're happy to take Kate's.
KATE: Lucas that's enough. Okay, she's staying. And if you don't like it, then you can move out.

Tomorrow on Neighbours
Lou is suspicious of Vanessa, until she's sick on his shoes and then he's fine with her staying with them.
Summer and Andrew both go to Jade's party.
Kyle realises the business is down $8000.
Kate asks Lou about the missing money, he tells her she's wrong.
