- Susan interviewing Ajay for the paper
- Kate and Rhys hooking up
- Rhys gathering info about surgical interns
- Lucas feeling uncomfortable about Emilia's nudie shots
- Emilia telling Lucas she wants to slow things down
Lucas leaves a voicemail for Emilia, hoping for a chance to explain himself. Kate emerges, dressed up for another night out, and no time to sit and listen to Lucas's woes about Emilia. He knows he overreacted but can't help the way he feels.
KATE: You didn't seem to mind when you were doing those photos for Lyn's calendar.
LUCAS: Yeah but I'm not dating Toadie or Karl.
Lucas wants to talk more, but Kate hears her taxi outside and leaves him for dead.
Rhys barks out some orders to Aidan to check on a patient so he's free to Facebook stalk Erin Salisbury, surgical intern victim #2, like the professional he is. Rhys finds out that she's friends with Aidan and that she likes double espressos. Karl nearly springs him, but Rhys manages to shoo him away.
Rhys pretends to be finishing his rounds, but he's really following Aidan around to get the lowdown on Erin. Aidan says that Erin isn't Rhys's type, and that she's recently been through a rough break- up, “the last thing she needs is you sniffing around”. Rhys is like, ‘Fine', but keeps his scheming face on.
Ramsay Street – Next Morning
Susan rushes to her car in her trackies, holding her clothes and a few bags. The last person she wants to see is Karl, so of course that's who she bumps into. Karl gives her some mail he's collected and finds out she's on her way to meet a real estate agent about a new place. Susan asks how Summer's going and Karl says she could probably use a guiding hand choosing some uni subjects. Awkward pause. Awkward pause. False pleasantries. End scene.
Rhys is still Facebook stalking Erin when he sees Kate walk in, still dressed up in her party clothes and giant Dynasty earrings, to order a greasy breakfast. Rhys picks on her disheveled appearance so Kate asks Rhys about his Facebook friend, scoffing that she doesn't really look like his type.
RHYS: There's more important things than looks, Kate.
KATE: (laughing) Yeah, I know, it's just it's all you care about.
RHYS: Not true, I hooked up with you.
KATE: Doesn't really disprove my argument then does it.
… Did Kate just give herself a backhanded compliment? Rhys turns away from Kate and contemplates his next Erin- related move. Fortunately for him it seems Erin is one of those compulsive status updaters: “Coffee time! – at Charlie's Bar” (“Taking out a spleen! LOLZ! – at Erinsborough Hospital”).
Rhys saunters up to Erin at the bar all smooth- like, ‘Hey, what a coinky- dink! Let me buy you coffee. P.S. How's the surgical program going? I'mgoingtokillyouinyoursleep, hahaha, coffee high!'. Shy Erin's slightly shocked Rhys is paying her any attention whatsoever and makes to leave, until Rhys pretends he's meeting Aidan there. Interest piqued, Erin agrees to stay and chat.
Lucas sits with Kate while she finishes brekkie and they chat about Emilia. Lucas is down in the dumps because she hasn't called back yet. Kate reminds him that Emilia can do what she likes with her life and her body – it's more Lucas's problem than hers. Lucas nods, he knows Kate's right, he just needs to let Emilia know that too. When Kate leaves, Lucas rings Emilia and asks her to meet him.
Rhys is having a grand old time chatting with Erin, trying to make her feel special. They're swapping ‘first patient' stories when Kate walks in and sees them. She knows exactly what Rhys is up to and decides to make things difficult for him by interrupting their coffee date to join them.
First Commercial Break
Susan and Priya (who haven't officially met and are operating as nameless strangers) notice they're each holding a real estate flier and bond over the hassles of house hunting. But the bond quickly turns to slight competitiveness when they discover the real estate agent they're both supposed to meet has double- booked them.
When Erin goes to get water, Kate grills Rhys about his intentions with her. Rhys plays the innocent card, claiming that he's truly interested in Erin, but Kate's not buying his lies and knows his only interest is in the surgical program. Erin returns and Rhys turns the charm up to eleven trying to make her laugh. Kate rolls her eyes.
Susan gets off the phone with the real estate agent and lets Priya know that he's been held up and won't be able to make their appointments. Susan notices Priya is reading one of her articles and asks her thoughts. When Priya finds out she's talking to Susan Kennedy, aka the person who works for the devil's newspaper, she gets angry. And when Susan finds out she's dealing with Ajay Kapoor's wife she tries to let Priya know that she had nothing to do with Paul's council vendetta, but Priya doesn't believe her.
Emilia is quite surprised to find Lucas standing butt- naked in his place of work with only a toolbox to cover his… tools. Lucas says he's sorry for making a big deal out of her photos and thinks the only way to make it up to her is to get some nudie shots taken of himself. Emilia is slightly wary but can't help smiling at the sheer wackiness of it all. Lucas dumps the toolbox and ducks out the front before his customers start arriving, “the light's better outside”.
Second Commercial Break
Emilia looks at the photos of Lucas on the camera while he brings them coffees.
EMILIA: You probably should have had another wax.
LUCAS: You probably shouldn't have zoomed in so close. Ugh.
EMILIA: Some of these aren't too bad.
LUCAS: As long as Paul Robinson doesn't get to see them
EMILIA: I don't think you have anything to worry about. Although that customer that came in at the end wants copies.
Lucas asks if this means he gets another shot with her and Emilia jokingly says as long as he keeps his clothes on… in public that is. Lucas now thinks the Sydney trip is still on, but Emilia says she wants to keep taking things slowly. Lucas pretends he's cool with this when he's totally not.
Susan walks out of the newspaper office just in time to see Priya. She chases after her and says she has nothing but respect for Priya's family, but Priya isn't impressed with what Ajay or her teenage daughter had to put up with because of the article. Priya walks off just as the strap on Susan's handbag breaks, spilling the contents everywhere. Karl sees and tries to help his ex, but Susan gets frustrated and tells Karl to leave her be. Feeling sorry for Susan, Priya returns to help her clean up and asks if she'd like a coffee.
Priya chats with Susan and finds out she's been living with friends – except she doesn't want to be a burden on them and has been showering at the gym. That makes no sense, Susan. I don't think Toadie would care about you taking up 10 minutes in the bathroom. Anyway… they each apologise for what happened between them earlier and Susan gets a new friend to play with.
Meanwhile, at the longest fake coffee date in the world, Erin finally decides it's time to go home and thanks Rhys for the drinks. Rhys does the old ‘you have something on your face' move and wipes away some imaginary chocolate from Erin's lip, making her swoon. Kate shakes her head in disgust (no mean feat when you're wearing giant boulders on your ears). When Erin leaves, Kate asks Rhys if his grand plan is just to distract Erin from her studies until she fails. Rhys smirks and Kate says no girl is stupid enough to fall for that, but Rhys just says, “We'll see”.
Third Commercial Break
Erin finds out that Aidan never had plans to meet Rhys today, but Rhys plays it cool and admits that it was the only thing he could think of to make Erin stay. Rhys then asks her out to dinner. Erin's self- doubt creeps in and she declines, saying she has an early start tomorrow. But then she can't help herself because Rhys seems so ‘nice' and she changes her mind to accept his offer.
(Monday on Neighbours)
SUMMER: Aren't you getting kind of bored with all this spare time on your hands?
KATE: Not really. This is one of the best things I've ever done.
(Michael complains about his job – Emilia encourages him to put himself first)
(Rhys puts the moves on Erin)
KATE: You know this whole scheme is pretty desperate, even for you.
RHYS: The difference between me and you is that I know what I want and what I need to do to get it.
