- Noah pretends to have a crush on Summer instead of Kate
- Sophie is upset about Noah's “crush” on a Year 12 girl
- Sonya wants to have a baby but talk with Toadie is interrupted
Toadie and Sonya resume their conversation about having a baby. Toadie is concerned that Sonya is just worried about turning thirty and the fact that they have a fair bit on their plate at the moment, but Sonya thinks there's not time like the present. Callum brings over a cake.
CALLUM: Right time for what? By the way, they didn't have thirty candles which makes you officially old! Right time for what? Talking about babies again?
Yes they are. And Toadie is all for it! Sonya is over the moon and grabs Toadie for some kissing and Callum pulls them apart lest they start to try for babies on the spot.
Sophie is looking at the pages of her ILOVENOAH4EVAZZ notebook. She drops out of Kate's history wall project citing too much homework and Kate is disappointed but tells her not to worry. When Kate goes, Sophie stares at the notebook again.
Cal is really looking forward to a younger brother to clean his room for him and he's insistent that it has to be a boy. Toad suddenly looks pensive again; he's worried that he'll be out of a job soon because he's still on probation so Sonya agrees that they should hold off for a few weeks until his job situation is more secure.
SONYA: A few more weeks. Nothing's going to happen between now and then.
TOADIE: What? Nothing at all?
SONYA: Well, I never said we can't start practicing.
They take the first steps to rehearsing.
Next morning, Sophie has come to hang out. Callum unsuccessfully tries to get her interested in gaming, and talk turns to babies. Callum doesn't actually mind if Toadie and Sonya have a boy or a girl but Sophie declares that sisters are overrated.
Sophie stares at the notebook again. She turns to a fresh page to write down some tunes but loses inspiration and gets a glass of juice instead. She picks up the sign up list for the history wall project.
Noah is glancing at Kate and she comes over to check that he's OK with being there with Summer. He assures her that it's OK. Karl has come over to see how great it all looks but when Summer goes to film him, he gets rather nervous.
KARL: Sorry, I'm not very good on camera; more of a radio man.
Turns out he's been on camera the whole time anyway because there's one that's filming 24/7 and will be used later in a time lapse video. Sophie has turned up much to Kate's surprise. Kate tells her that she doesn't need to be there but Sophie is insistent on helping.
Toadie and Cal are eating.
TOADIE: Hey, um, how come you're not helping out with the history wall?
CALLUM: History schmistory. I'm living for the moment.
Toad checks that Callum is OK with the whole baby thing but Callum declares that he is old enough not to feel threatened and to cash in on the potential babysitting money. Overhearing the word baby, Karl is excited for Toadie at the fact that he and Sonya are planning for one.
KARL: I remember how excited Susan and I were when she was pregnant with Mal.
TOADIE: Yeah, didn't you invite a whole lot of med students in to witness the birth?
KARL: Mm- hmm. Didn't make it any less special.
Suddenly remembering his current situation with Susan, Karl's excitement level drops and he just tells Toad that he has a lot to look forward to.
Sophie's paying very little attention to her painting because she's busy staring at Noah and Summer. Summer's interviewing Noah when her camera starts doing something funny so Noah looks over her shoulder and presses a button which apparently fixes it. Sophie witnesses this and thinking that Summer is the crush, Sophie gets her brat on and kicks a bucket of paint onto Summer. She claims it was an accident but Summer doesn't really believe it.
Number 24/Harold's Store
Storming into number 24 looking murderous and teary, Sophie flips down all photos of herself and runs out the door.
Meanwhile at Harold's, Summer wipes off as much paint as she can and then leaves to get cleaned up. Noah comes to ask Kate whether she told Sophie about his crush on Summer because the paint bucket accident didn't look like an accident. Kate assures him that she didn't mention Kate but she admits to telling Sophie that Noah was interested in “someone”. She stubbornly insists that Sophie wouldn't do it on purpose.
Rhys is studying when he's interrupted by Sonya who is looking for Jade. She decides to ask for medical advice.
SONYA: It must be hard being a doctor. Probably get people asking you medical stuff all the time, you know, friends and stuff.
RHYS: What do you want to know?
SONYA: No me I…yeah no, actually, there were a couple of things.
SONYA: Yeah, um, well Toadie and I were, we were thinking about trying for a baby.
RHYS: Doesn't tend to happen just by thinking about it.
He offers her a seat.
Sporting ripped stockings and another pair of boots, she looks at the footage she's shot. Noah offers her a hand with music when she puts it together but she doesn't need it for the moment and leaves. Seeing them chatting, Kate gets nosy and goes to tell Noah that one day he'll look back and laugh. He has no idea what she's talking about until she says “Summer”.
KATE: Summer may not be the right girl for you but I promise you there's someone out there who feels the same way as you do.
NOAH: You think?
KATE: I know. Trust me, she's out there.
Noah looks really encouraged.
Kate comes home and is slightly alarmed to see all the photos turned down and Sophie nowhere to be seen.
Sonya goes over her current health situation; she seems to be in good health and Rhys asks how her first pregnancy went. Sonya hesitates before telling Rhys that she's a recovering addict and Rhys is honest in that it could have affected her ability to conceive. Seeing her nervousness, he also points out that stress isn't helpful. There are tests that can be done, but bottom line:
RHYS: But right now, there's only one thing you need to be doing and you need to be doing it with Toadie.
Sonya leaves number 26 and bumps into Toadie and Callum who are also on their way home. Toadie asks how things went with Jade but Jade wasn't home and Sonya spoke to Rhys instead. Toad is on the same page as Rhys – there's no point in stressing about whether Sonya's history is a problem. Toadie goes into the house to get a phone call and Sonya pulls her contraceptive pills out of her bag and throws them in the bin.
Kate returns home after having searched all over for Sophie only to find her sitting calmly at home. With a shiny new nose piercing.
Commercial over, Kate is chucking a fit and Sophie is doing the “I'm old enough to do what I want” thing. Kate suddenly clicks that it might have something to do with Summer and the paint and Noah so Sophie storms off, horrified that Kate knows about her crush.
