- Sonya is upset to find that Toadie is still on probation at his new job
- Sonya and Callum being happier when Toadie worked for himself
- Sophie having a crush on Noah
- Rhys covering for Karl in return for an invite to golfing
Rhys is all dressed up for golf but Karl is less than enthusiastic at the deal he's inadvertently struck up with Rhys. He wants to call and cancel but Rhys guilt trips him into going along with it so Karl doesn't really have a choice.
Karl warns Rhys that he's wasting his time because all the doctors go to play golf in order to unwind and therefore frown upon anyone who tries to talk shop. Rhys assures Karl that he's aware of the boundaries. The other docs (Martin and Dr Adrian Pearce) stride over and there are introductions. They don't seem to mind having Rhys there and Martin reiterates that they don't talk shop.

Toadie's making use of the boardroom while he's doing extra hours on a weekend. He's not the only one as Peter has come to the office to prepare himself for a briefing on Monday.
PETER: Janine wanted me to go to something with the kids. I'm always telling her: it's quality time on the weekends, or there's school fees. Your choice.
Toadie gives an obligatory chuckle. Right before he's dumped with another job. There are some developers who have gotten approval for re- zoning but the council are dragging their heels to sign it off. It would appear that Toad has been given the job to get the signatures because it's the council who he got permission from for Lucas to scatter his father's ashes. Toadie obviously doesn't want to do it but there's no saying no to Peter.
It's rush rush rush as Toadie comes home and gets on the phone with Debbie, presumably from the council's office. He bribes her with Belgian chocolates in the hope that she'll be able to find council rep for Toad to get a signature off on the weekend. Callum wants to hang out with him but he's unsure whether he's got the time, and when Debbie rings back to tell Toadie where one of the council reps is lunching, Toadie promises Cal that they can hang out next weekend.
Soph is strumming away on the guitar and is complimented by Noah. He mentions that he's playing at an open mike night and Sophie enthusiastically promises to go. Her face falls when Noah mentions that it's in the city; however Noah then suggests that perhaps Kate could accompany Sophie. Sophie's happy to be going and Noah is happy that Kate will be there.
Rhys hits a shot which Martin compliments, and then Rhys tries to charm Dr Chambers by reciting Martin's work history. The good doc looks less than charmed though and he drives off in his golf cart. Rhys insists to Karl that he's playing it cool to which Karl scoffs.
Later, they're packing up and Karl has had a shocking round. He's upset that Rhys being there made him lose his concentration. Martin comes over to laugh at Karl for not being better since he and Susan spend time golfing. Martin asks after Susan and Peru – Karl admits that they had to postpone but he's lost for words when Martin asks why. Rhys covers for him:
RHYS: Karl's too busy keeping me on the straight and narrow. I'd be lost without him, to be honest.
MARTIN: Well, when it comes to the wards of Erinsborough, Doctor Kennedy just about wrote the book. You're learning from the best.
RHYS: No doubt.
Karl can do nothing but put an embarrassed smile on his face. And then a dirty look in Rhys' direction.
Karl being the loser of the golfing round has to shout drinks. Rhys goes to help and as they're at the counter, Karl lets Rhys know that he doesn't want him doing any favours for him.
RHYS: I was doing you a good turn. We don't have to be enemies.
KARL: What, so it's just a little blackmail between friends then, is it?
Rhys has no shame in using a bit of an “advantage” in getting ahead in his career but Karl calls it grubby. Rhys then rightly points out that Karl endangered a patient because he was too preoccupied and then he rubs salt on the wound by telling Karl that he only has himself to blame if he's feeling uncomfortable about the whole thing.
After the commercial, Martin wants to know Rhys' story. Rhys gives a modest rundown of where he's studied and worked and is upfront about his ambitions to do surgery. Mistaking Rhys for Karl's protégé, Martin offers to let Rhys observe on a bypass surgery that he'll be performing next week. Karl just gives everyone a wry smile.
Sophie comes in armed with “how was your day” questions but Kate quickly sees that her sister wants something. Kate's working until closing though so can't take Sophie into the city and she's unwilling to let Sophie go alone. Kate apologises as she can see Soph is disappointed.
Rhys comes over with a coffee for Karl but Karl is still angry with him. He tells Rhys that manipulating and using people will get him up to the top fast but he will sink just as fast when people see his “true colours”. Rhys tries again to placate Karl but the latter snarks that he wouldn't want to “owe” Rhys a coffee.

Toad has come for a signature from Ajay the council guy. There are friendly introductions but when Toadie brings the conversation to council business, Ajay doesn't want to go there because he and his wife Priya are celebrating their anniversary. Toadie looks like he's stuck between a rock and a hard place because on the one hand, he needs the signature but on the other, he feels bad for interrupting. He asks again but Ajay would rather he see him on Monday.
Later, Toad hasn't left and he orders a bottle of wine for the couple in the hopes that Ajay will sign the documents. Ajay looks at his wife and she shakes her head, but seeing Toadie's persistence Ajay asks what the issue is. Wifey is very annoyed and excuses herself. Toad hands over the documents.
AJAY: Leave them with me.
TOADIE: I kind of need them signed today.
AJAY: Surely no responsible lawyer would expect me to sign anything without reading it first.
Toadie thanks Ajay and leaves with an uncomfortable look on his face.
Karl noisily arrives home to an empty house. He digs around and cleans out the pockets of his golf bag and finds an old golf scoring card with “Ha – you're on dishes for a week x S” written at the bottom, presumably by Susan during happier times.
Sophie is listening to music outside Harold's. Kate checks that Soph doesn't need anything and she goes back inside after waving to a passing Noah. Sophie runs up to Noah and declares that she's going to his gig without Kate…except it's at a bar and they probably won't let her in. Sophie is mega disappointed.

Peter has his leg on the boardroom table while he's doing some stretches. Peter's very impressed that Toad came through with the signatures although Toad is confused because he wasn't aware that he did. But it seems good old Ajay faxed them through. Peter is so impressed that he wants Toadie to head up a new project – building of a shopping centre near his neighbourhood. They need the local council onside and since Toadie seems to know them, as well as the local residents, Peter thinks he's perfect for the job.
Callum is sullenly gaming. Toadie apologises for letting Cal down and presents him with tickets to the footy final. Toad promises to turn his phone off and be free of distractions for it. He apologises for being busy but Callum understands, although he's sad nonetheless. They fist bump and all is well between the boys with the seafood names.
