- Paul finding out about the backpackers in his house
- Paul organising a present for Andrew's 18th
- Karl witnessing a tender moment between Susan and Jim
Number 28
Karl's making breakfast when Susan finally returns from the hospital. He's concerned when Susan says she wants to come back into work with Karl after she's had a shower. Karl tries to suggest that she get some rest first, but rest is the last thing on Susan's mind - Jim needs her.
Erinsborough Hospital
Susan's alarmed to see Jim shivering in bed because his blankets and pillows are all messed up. As she sets about fixing them, Jim weakly admits that he didn't want to pester the staff to help him out. Susan notices he's in pain and reminds him he can self- medicate, but Jim says he's reached his allocated limit for the time being.
Rhys eavesdrops in the background as Susan finds Karl near the nurses' station and says that Jim needs more pain meds. Karl reads Jim's chart and says he can't give him more pain relief right now or his respiratory system might shut down. Susan doesn't get why Karl can't even go in and look at Jim, reminding him that he promised he'd look after him. But Karl says he's doing everything he can, "you have to trust me".
Ramsay Street
Andrew searches through the mailbox, happy to see that he's got a few cards and also a parcel from Donna. Paul drives up and shakes hands with his son, wishing him a happy birthday. They talk about Andrew taking his driver's test today, which just makes Andrew more excited about the present he hopes he's getting tonight. Paul warns him not to be too cocky about the test, though, as one mistake could cost him dearly. If Andrew only knew about the underlying threat in those words. When Paul goes inside, Andrew has a peek in the back of his car and is pleased to see pamphlets for Audis.
Number 28
Summer shows Chris the scrapbook she's put together for Andrew's birthday with photos and mementos in it, but feels slightly defensive when she thinks Chris says it's mushy. Chris clarifies that's not what he meant, he just didn't think Summer was the sentimental type, but now he's put doubts in Summer's mind.
Number 32 - Tash's Bedroom
Tash screws up her nose as she tries on her new uniform for boarding school. She thinks back to the argument she had with her dad about him sending her away, then looks at photos of herself with her friends during happier times.
Lassiter's Complex
Summer shows Andrew the surprise brunch she set up out the front of the hotel for his birthday. They sit down to eat and Andrew brags about the car he's sure to be getting from his dad tonight, calling it the "best present in the history of presents". Noticing Summer's gone a bit quiet, Andrew backtracks and says he's sure her present will be awesome too. But Summer says he'll just have to wait till later to find out, kicking her bag under the table to hide the scrapbook.
First Commercial Break
Ramsay Street
Chris catches up with Summer on his way to see Tash and asks what Andrew thought of his birthday present. Summer admits she didn't give him the gift because her mushy scrapbook can't compete with a brand new car. She wonders if there's something she can give Andrew to go with the car, but Chris says the cars pretty much have everything. This gives Summer an idea, though. She just has to find a gift to make the car unique! She gives Chris a hug and runs off, leaving him confused.
Erinsborough Hospital
Rhys finds Karl sitting outside and offers him a cup of coffee, chatting to him about Susan and Jim. Rhys understands that it can be rough when doctors cop the fallout when there's nothing more they can do to help a patient.
Meanwhile in the hospital, Susan reads some of the sports section aloud to Jim until he starts having a coughing fit. She quickly jumps up and strokes his brow to soothe him.
Rhys offers to step back in as Jim's doctor if it's getting too much for Karl (considering Susan's involvement), but Karl says it's not necessary. When Rhys gets back inside the building, Susan pounces on him to see if he can do anything about Jim's condition. Rhys brushes her off at first, but she's persistent, so he sighs and checks Jim's chart. It's just as he thought, though: Jim can't have any more medication for at least another hour. Rhys advises Susan to go and sit with her friend, but Susan's frustrated there's nothing more she can do for Jim.
Number 32 - Tash's Bedroom
Chris helps Tash pack her things by sitting on her overflowing suitcase to close it. Tash peeks in the bag Chris was carrying and finds out it's Andrew's birthday present, which Chris offers to go halves in. Tash gets out the birthday card she bought and writes in it (something naughty or suggestive by the sounds of things), asking what Summer bought Andrew. When Chris mentions it's a homemade thing, he half expects Tash to sneer at the idea, but she just smiles and says it sounds nice much to his surprise. Chris asks if she's going to tell the others about boarding school but Tash wants to keep it quiet. She doesn't want to ruin Andrew's birthday by having a pity party - she just wants one last night of fun with her friends.
Second Commercial Break
Number 28
Andrew proudly shows off his driver's licence to Summer, and his new t- shirt, courtesy of Donna in New York. Summer decides to give Andrew her (new) present - personalised number plates for his car with ABR - 1993 on them. Andrew feels bad about Summer spending her savings on him, but she says he's worth it. Andrew says he would have been happy with the foam stand- in plate he's holding now (the real ones are still being made), because Summer made it. With that thought in mind, Summer hands over the scrapbook she put together and Andrew says he loves it.
Erinsborough Hospital
Karl and Susan stare at one another through the window of Jim's hospital room. It looks like Susan is about to say something to him when Jim starts shaking and Susan's attention is diverted back to comforting him. Karl sadly walks away.
Charlie's Bar
The place is set up with decorations and a DJ for Andrew's party. The teens are early, waiting for other guests to arrive, so Chris hands over the present from him and Tash. Andrew's stoked with the noise cancelling headphones and makes a strange face at the message Tash wrote in his card (that is left up to the audience's imagination). Andrew starts to talk about his car again and suggests a road trip to schoolies. Tash's face falls when she thinks of the fun she'll miss out on, but goes along with the plans as if nothing were wrong. Paul walks in and tells Andrew he needs to come outside for the big reveal of his present.
Lassiter's Carpark
Andrew looks ready to burst with excitement when Paul makes a call to someone to "bring it around", but his happiness deflates when he sees his present. It's a car - but it's definitely not an Audi. No, Paul has bought a tinny looking blue thing that used to belong to a clown entertainer called 'Pickles'. The crowd starts to snicker. Andrew is mortified and confused when Paul throws him the keys.
Third Commercial Break
Lassiter's Carpark
Andrew can't help confronting his dad about the type of car he bought but is soon put in his place when Paul says he knows all about the backpacker scheme. Paul says that he knows he's not the best role model when it comes to telling the truth, but Andrew should learn from his mistakes, not repeat them. "You got greedy and you lied to me, it's a lesson you've got to learn."
Charlie's Bar
The teens go back to the party and Summer and Chris try to make Andrew feel better about the car situation, but Andrew can't believe his dad. Tash, though, doesn't understand why Andrew's moping. He still got a car out of it. Andrew and Tash start bickering about their fathers, with Andrew saying that Michael's a softie compared to Paul. But this just makes Tash more frustrated.
ANDREW: He lets you off the hook every time, Tash.
TASH: Yeah you keep telling yourself that when you're riding around in your clown mobile, Pickles.
ANDREW: Every time! And every time you just keep doing something worse.
TASH: Shut up!
ANDREW: The worst punishment you ever get is a hug and a warning.
TASH: He's sending me away. He's sending me away to boarding school. I'm leaving tomorrow. Are you happy?
Andrew and Summer let this news sink in as Tash starts to cry.

(Tomorrow on Neighbours)
JADE: Can you tone it down?
KYLE: You don't want people to think we've really hooked up like a couple?
JADE: Exactly.
KYLE: So we're free to pick up other people?
JADE: ...
(Tash tries to make the most of her last night in town)
ANDREW: Maybe Mike's just bluffing.
TASH: Not this time. We're going for a swim.
CHRIS: We don't have a pool.
TASH: Toadie does. Nothing like a skinny dip to wake us up.
(Jade finds them & tells them off - but Tash isn't moving in the pool)
JADE: Yeah you're hilarious, now get out of the pool. Tash? TASH!
