Previously on Neighbours
Paul remembering who pushed him and it wasn't Diana.
Rebecca announcing she's going to try and work things out with Paul.
Declan rushes after his mum wanting to know what happened and she tells him that Paul knows everything. He wants them to do a runner now but she isn't quite thinking like he is as he rushes off to pick Indy up from day care.
Declan is finishing his packing as Rebecca comes home – she is surprised to hear that he seems to know exactly how to go about things and asks how long he's been planning for. He doesn't answer and instead keeps on at his mum that they need to leave and finally it looks like its sinking in.
Karl talks Susan out of going to see Rebecca and instead their attention is drawn to the returned Donna who is back from Granny's. Susan suggests doing something special for supper to celebrate her return but Donna announces that she's in charge of making the dinner tonight.
Ringo and Donna visit the store to pick up the ingredients and he quizzes her on why she's suddenly being domesticated however that chat is sidetracked when she finally spots Kate and they catch up instead. Kate tells her she thinks something is going on with Declan and that he might be in trouble so Donna suggests going round to talk to him.
Donna has an audience as she cooks the supper but manages to get rid of them all with tasks so she can finish off although Susan keenly jumps in when Donna has a bit of an accident with the salt.
Kate's mind is occupied with thoughts of Declan when Zeke comes in for some pistachios.
Kate is surprised to see them all packed when she calls round. Declan tries to say it's a business trip but that doesn't wash with her and she wants answers from him, suggesting too that she can help. Opening up, he tells her that found his mum the night of Paul's accident after she'd found out about Diana so he went looking for Paul and that he pushed him.
And today's trip down memory lane is to 1993 with a party for Brad and Beth.
Kate doesn't quite believe Declan's story and asks if his mum knows. “It's nothing to do with her,” he replies and makes on that she doesn't know about the reason behind the sudden ‘business trip'. Kate wants them to go to the police and he lets her exit the house.
Donna gets everyone to try some samples of the dish she is making and when Zeke, Karl and Susan do so they make polite noises to cover up for the fact it isn't nice although when she takes some too she realises it isn't nice. Susan suggests she could add some nutmeg to it and Ringo sends Donna off to see Kate to get some.
Donna comes over for the nutmeg and some advice but is told to leave as Kate's mind is pre- occupied. “What's wrong?” Donna asks but when she spots Rebecca entering the house, she decides to leave them to it.
Rebecca wants to know what Declan said to her because he won't tell her and adds that she's sneaked out to talk to her. Kate replies that Declan confessed to pushing Paul but is told that isn't the truth. Slowly, Rebecca begins to tell Kate what happened when Declan bursts into the house trying to stop her. Kate is getting frustrated at the pair of them with their different versions of what happened. Finally Rebecca tells her the truth (the viewers see it all via a flashbacks) – she came onto the mezzanine and gave Paul her newly taken off wedding ring before saying that she knows all about Diana and him threatened Declan too.
REBECCA: I have forgiven you for so many things Paul but I will not forgive you for that. No- one threatens my child.
Paul wants to explain but she won't let him, instead tearfully saying that she is leaving him for good. Paul begs her and tries to say he did it all for her. She takes major offence at him saying “I love you,” and with some force pushes Paul in the chest causing him to go flying backwards ultimately crashing through the glass and landing up on the ground below. Rebecca is aghast at what she has done.
Back in normal land, Rebecca asks Declan to show Kate what he found at the hospital – Rebecca's wedding ring.
REBECCA: I pushed him.
Commercial break later Kate is exasperated at them because Paul could have died. “I know,” Rebecca replies and we head into flashback mode again – this time Declan leads Rebecca into his car whilst reassuring her that Paul will be okay because the ambos are attending to him. Rebecca is shell- shocked at what she has done and tearfully tells her son what she did. Declan takes charge of the situation, telling her to keep quiet at least until they know where they stand. “The police have to know,” she insists but he begs her not to, for his and Indy's sake.
Back in normal land, Kate isn't pleased that Rebecca was going to let someone else take the rap and she explains about sending anonymous emails to the police and Susan, plus she was the one who warned Diana the police were coming to arrest her. This still isn't washing with Kate and she then takes off to see Paul after she remembers that Paul remembered something.
Ringo can see that Donna is bottling up what happened at Granny's and eventually she spills – she doesn't feel part of her own family any more, remarking that Simon was glued to his iPod (nothing new there!) and Tegan was glued to the phone. “I don't want to be that kind of family,” she tells him and agrees when he asks if she'd prefer to be like the Kennedy's. Ringo tries to put a slant on things – when Susan cooks or brings someone a casserole, its her equivalent of a hug and links it back into what Donna is also fretting about (Kate) and comforts her by saying Kate will come to her when she is ready.
RINGO: You're exactly like Susan, just without the casserole.
Donna serves up the meal and everyone is impressed! However while Zeke, Susan and Karl tuck in, Donna quietly tells Ringo where the take- away containers have been stashed!
Kate stands in the corridor watching Paul sleep when Declan arrives. She confesses that she doesn't know what is worse – hearing what happened or the fact he was capable of doing that. “I was looking after mum,” he explains before asking what she is planning on doing. “You don't owe him anything,” he tries to say and she is quick to tell him that Paul is family. “After what he did to mum he doesn't deserve her,” he retaliates with which doesn't exactly go down well with Kate. She reminds him about lying to the police, so he tries to use that as a way to keep Kate quiet and turns the emotional screw by telling her to “remember Sophie.” Determined, she orders him to leave her alone and he walks away as we head into the final commercial break.
Rebecca surveys their belongings as Declan comes downstairs. Kate enters the house and tells Rebecca that she trusted her especially since her mum isn't around. Declan goes to talk but she silences him.
KATE: I loved you, so don't you dare say this is Paul's fault. And you're right, if I do go to the police and I am going to be charged and I do need to think of Sophie but I lied when I knew it was wrong, so I'll just have to deal with those consequences.
KATE: Rebecca I can't lie.
REBECCA: No Kate, I don't want you to, I'm going to go to the police.
That news stuns Declan but Rebecca is insistent on doing this.
REBECCA: Whatever happens, no more lying.
