This week on Neighbours
- Steph crying in the nursery.
- Kate and Declan arguing
- Lyn letting rip.
- Paul waking up.
Previously on Neighbours
Kate wondering why Paul isn't properly awake after he opened his eyes.
Toadie telling Sonya why he's going after Steph.
Motel/Ramsay Street
Toadie arrives at the motel and calls Sonya to apologise but she's fed up hearing the same story over and over again. He apologises this time for not explaining things properly to her but Sonya has another problem on her hands - Lyn. She confirms that she hasn't said anything but does add that she won't continue lying for him. Toadie hopes that lying can be avoided if he can just talk Steph around. "Just hurry up and come home," she tells him but their call is cut short due to signal problems and I don't think she hears him proclaiming his love to her.
Meanwhile, Callum spots Sonya after the call and she confirms it was Toadie but thankfully he guesses that he's with Steph so she doesn't need to lie and the pair of them head inside to play computer games.
Motel
Steph stands and watch as her son gurgles in his Moses basket before a knocking at the door startles her. She is torn between answering the door and settling her now crying son before going to let Toadie in. They both greet each other warmly and Toadie is relived that Steph hasn't handed him over to Dan yet. "Don't start on me Toad," she tells him so he asks how she is (good) before going over to see the new arrival.
"Oh wow, aren't you gorgeous," he tells the little guy and can sense too that he isn't happy although Steph explains that he is just restless, having been fed and had his nappy changed. He is a bit surprised to hear that Steph is into controlled crying with him already and she watches on as he picks the baby up and the crying immediately stops.
TOADIE: Wow a brand new Scully, watch out world huh? (laughing) Hello, my name is Jarrod, you can call me Toadie.
Steph watches on expressionless, pleased that Toadie got to meet him before "you give him to Dan," Toadie finishes off. She is still adamant it's the right thing to do but he doesn't think so, telling her that she's given up so much to have him that he doesn't understand it. "Don't, its hard enough already," she explains and he thinks it's hard for her because she is making the wrong decisions and when bubs shows no sign of settling down, Steph goes off to make up another bottle for him.
(Later)
Steph is fighting a losing battle trying to convince Toadie that she is making the right decision. "Even if I think it's the worst decision you've ever made?" he asks. She doesn't answer him, so he asks if its Libby or what people will say but she rejects them, saying that its Dan and admits that she hasn't slept for days thinking about it. Toad thinks that Dan is pressurising her but she is quick to reject that suggestion.
STEPH: Toad, I've got Charlie, Dan's got no- one. He wants to be a father more than anything; it's all that he's ever wanted. And he's going to be incredible, I just know it.
Toadie now seems almost resigned to having to accept Steph's decision and asks when it is happening and she replies in the morning - Dan is staying nearby at a mates place and will head back to Sydney straight after. "And that's it" he asks and Steph nods her head.
Toadie and Steph exchange places so she is now sitting on the sofa with bubs and he remarks how good they look together.
STEPH: Toad.
TOADIE: I know you've thought about this long and hard. I'm begging you to think about it some more.
STEPH: Why are you making it so difficult for me?
TOADIE: Because I genuinely believe that you are going to regret this. (pause) Just think about it overnight. If you wake up in the morning and you still feel the same way well then I guess I'm just gonna have to accept it. Please, for me?
STEPH: (nonchalantly) Alright.
TOADIE: Thank you.
Steph then looks at her son while Toadie goes out to get things from the car.
Motel/#30/#26
Music montage time beginning with Toadie and bubs in his arms asleep on the sofa in the room while back in #30, Sonya lies on the sofa looking at a pic on her mobile of Toadie and herself. Steph meanwhile lies awake on the bed whilst back at #26 Lyn looks at the tree Sonya painted in the nursery excited that her grandson will see it soon.
Ramsay Street (next day)
Lyn leaves a voicemail on Toadie's phone to ask that either he or Steph call her. She then runs into Sonya who is putting out the wheeliebin and she confirms that Toadie has taken off to go and see Steph. Lyn isn't amused at being kept in the dark and is further annoyed when Sonya lets slip that she knows more too but the mood Sonya is in, she walks off after pointing out to Lyn that as she reminded her, its none of her concern.
Tash, Michael and Summer run into Andrew as they exit #32. They ask about Diana (she's still in jail) but he turns down their invite to join him for breakfast at the store.
Hospital
Its Andrew's turn to be with Paul (they are all taking turns) and there is another unexpected visitor - Michael.
Motel room
Toadie wakes up and immediately realises that Steph isn't there and neither is bubs. He immediately calls her but she is not answering and as he is about to exit the room, he spots a note from her:
Sorry. But I knew you'd do everything you could to stop me.
I know I'm making the right decision.
Please try and understand.
Steph
While we see a flashback to her leaving with bubs in his car seat as Toadie sleeps on the sofa and back in real time, he scrunches up the note and shouts out "NO".
And today's trip down memory lane is to 1988 with Henry opening the car door for Madge on her wedding day.
Motel room/Lassiters Complex
Toadie calls Sonya as he hurriedly packs his bags. She tells him to contact Lyn but he wants her to contact Lucas to find out where Dan is staying because that is where Steph has gone to. Sonya is genuinely shocked but thinks it is a good thing as Dan is the daddy. Toadie is insistent that isn't what Steph actually wants and she agrees to go and get the info he is after.
However before she can go and get the info, Lyn calls on her and after telling her about the text she got from Steph saying she is coming home tonight, apologises for earlier explaining that she is just so anxious to meet her new grandchild. She then invites Sonya to have a coffee, which she can't stay for, and hopes that everything will be settled soon once everyone is back.
Hospital
Summer and Tash take it up on themselves to make sure Andrew doesn't fall too far behind in his studies by bringing school to him, well Shakespeare's Hamlet actually. Thankfully Andrew does a deal with them - agreeing to watch the DVD later with them if they leave him alone now, which the girls quickly accept since it gives them just enough time to get back for history.
Motel
Toadie leaves a message for Dan - that he knows Steph is with him and asking for a call when he gets the message.
Toadie then calls Sonya and she confirms that she got the address (which she will text to him) and that he'll have to do some explaining to Lucas too when he returns. When the text comes through, he consults the road map and works out where he is going... however one of his rear tyres is flat. Frustrated, he rips out the page from the book and starts running.
Hospital
Andrew teases his dad with reading Hamlet to him but quickly comes to the conclusion that Paul wouldn't like that! Instead he decides to make his dad a deal - he will go back to school if his dad wakes up. Looks like its 'no deal' because Paul doesn't wake up however when Andrew picks up his dad's hand to shake on it, Paul grips his son's hand and for once we finally see a genuine smile on Andrew's face.
Dan's house
Steph with bubs in her arm knocks on the door and a spectacled Dan opens it to see his son, he is very happy to see his visitors and show's them inside.
(Later)
Commercial break later and Dan is now holding his son, revelling in it, still surprised though by Steph's call. They avoid talking about Libby and Dan promises Steph he'll look after him. Dan asks what bubs' name is and she tentatively explains that she couldn't name him; it's for Dan to choose.
DAN: Steph, are you absolutely sure you want to do this?
Steph doesn't immediately answer, instead getting up to walk around for a few seconds before replying.
STEPH: You're a good man, you are, and you deserve the chance to be a dad and now he's the only son you are ever going to know.
DAN: But you're his mum Steph.
STEPH: Please just... (pause) I have made up my mind okay.
Bubs then starts to get a bit restless and Steph goes to get a bottle for him so Dan can feed his son.
Street somewhere
Toadie runs trying to get to Dan's as we see a flashback to moments Steph and he have shared during her pregnancy.
Dan's house
Bubs is now sleeping contently on dad's shoulder after being fed, with dad relived to have gotten through his first feed. Steph reassures him that it will get easier and suddenly announces that she has to go after becoming teary after Dan told her all the stuff he'd bought for bubs from the baby store.
DAN: You don't need to do this.
STEPH: Being a parent is the best thing in the world and I've got it, you deserve it too. Just... He's going to love you unconditionally. You just soak it up and give it back. (really struggling) Its just the best feeling you'll ever know.
Tenderly, she strokes her son's face for the last time before kissing Dan farewell on the cheek. As she heads tearfully down the corridor, Dan calls her back to tell her bubs' name - Adam. "I like it," she tells him and while dad and son bond with each other, Steph barely makes it out of the front door before she loses it, sinking to the ground in floods of tears as we head into the final commercial break.
Road somewhere
Toadie spots Steph's 4x4 and runs towards it, immediately opening the back door to find the car seat empty. Simultaneously, Steph gets out of the car to tell him it's done and that she can understand that he is angry, before apologising to him. Toadie tries to get in the car so they can get bubs back but she stops him and asks that he supports her.
TOADIE: I'm not letting you do this, you're not thinking straight.
STEPH: I am. Dan's going to be an incredible father.
Toadie wants to call Dan but again she tells him its too late, he's gone. "This isn't what you want," he tries to get though to her but again she asks that he helps her to figure out what she is going to tell Lyn.
TOADIE: YOU WANTED THIS BABY, I WAS THERE, I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU WANT THIS BABY.
STEPH: WELL IT'S NOT YOUR BABY, SO IT'S NOT YOUR DECISION.
Toadie looks really hurt that she has said that and backs away from her.
