Previously on Neighbours
Paul explaining to Tash why her 'Face of Lassiters' campaign was dropped.
Tash overhearing Andrew telling Summer why should he get to know Tash when he can find someone else.
Tash dumping Andrew.
Diana and Toadie agreeing on a deal.
Toadie reassuring Steph he'll protect Declan and Rebecca.
Toadie telling Paul that Rebecca should have nothing to do with PirateNet and then him explaining that to her.
Diana planting the seed of doubt in Rebecca about her hubby making decisions without her knowledge.
Rebecca demanding that Paul treat her as his wife.
Lassiters Car Park
It's very late and Rebecca is having a bubble in her car when Michael stumbles across her on the way home from work (it's his 3 month review this week so he's been working late or very late in this case! to prepare for it). She reassures him that she is fine (and is there due to a call about the alarm at Charlie's) and puts the tears down to getting a scare.
Number 22
Paul is still up when Rebecca arrives home and wants to talk. He begins by apologising for not consulting her before making a decision and that he'll do whatever she wants as regards PirateNet. She doesn't reply to that, instead saying that she's going to bed. Paul asks if she wants him to come with her and her curt reply is that he can suit himself.
Number 22 (next day)
Rebecca is in a determined mood when she gets up (and ignoring Paul trying to suck up to her!) beginning with persuading Donna to do a stint at PirateNet with Zeke's full approval too! Donna readily agrees and Rebecca informs Paul that PirateNet isn't for sale, even when he tempts her with a holiday away with the profits they will make.
Ramsay Street
Declan catches up with his mum and she moans to him about Paul wanting to sell PirateNet without consulting her, even if it may be the right decision business wise. He suggests that perhaps Paul needs reminding that she is his wife.
Rebecca departs and Declan heads over to see Toadie when he spots him leaving the house. He comes straight out and asks if he's got anything to do with Paul selling PirateNet, so Toadie explains that everything is in Rebecca's name which means she takes the rap whether she knew about it or not. The penny then drops for Declan when he twigs that if PirateNet is sold then Rebecca's in the clear if Paul goes down and Toadie suggests he gets on board with this.
Lassiters Complex
"Well I guess your 15 minutes are up" Summer comments as she and Chris spot Tash sitting looking at a new advertising posters for Lassiters (The New Lassiters - More Than Just A Pretty Face).
Tash then spots her dad run into Rebecca (again) when he literally does run into her as he runs through the complex. They briefly chat about last night (she assures him she's fine today) before he resumes his run.
Its Andrew's turn now to have a go at Tash - last week she was a poster girl with a really cool boyfriend, after he spots the new posters. She doesn't bite and rejects Andrew's offer to help her increase her profile so she can become big, determined to do it all by herself.
PirateNet
Tash gatecrashes Donna's show to make a public announcement - she's going a noon meet and greet at Charlie's where she'll be signing copies of her PirateNet poster. "What a shame I'm working," is Donna's tactful way of saying she won't be attending!
Declan (and Indy in her cute tricycle) decide to pay a subtle visit to see how Rebecca is. She assures her son that she is fine and Declan continues with the subtleness and tries to persuade her to sell PirateNet. "Since when were you on Paul's side?" she asks him and he replies that he's "just calling it like I see it." Rebecca thanks him for his words, adding that she can always rely on him to tell her the truth.
Harold's Store
Karl and Susan are back from their holiday and catch up with Kate on how Callum survived his first night without Rocky over a coffee. "He seems okay," she tells him and Karl reminds them that they knew the day was coming (for Rocky to leave). Susan then reminds him about how he felt when Dahl disappeared which is met by silence and in the silent moment, they notice that Donna is doing a stint on PirateNet (Kate borrowed a lappy so they could listen in the store). Susan asks Zeke if he misses PirateNet and he replies that it's not the same any more.
KARL: Ah that's what happens when anything Paul Robinson touches; he's the kiss of death!
(Paul enters the store)
KARL: Ah speak of the devil, the grim reaper himself.
Paul doesn't hear Karl's comments as he makes his way to the counter to order a coffee from Kate.
PirateNet
Donna is having trouble finding something to play because the CDs aren't in their appropriate cases when Rebecca enters the studio wanting a word.
Harold's Store/PirateNet
Toadie asks if Declan's spoke to his mum and from the facial expression he gives in response to that question, Toadie replies that it's for the best.
The customers then hear Rebecca come on air and talk - announcing that the station is up for sale, with Monday being their final broadcast - before deciding to glare at Paul who's sitting there listening to it too.
In the studio, Donna asks Rebecca if she is okay and Rebecca indicates that she is but her body language would suggest otherwise as we head into the first commercial break.
And today's trip down memory lane is to the 2005 finale with Toadie dressed in fatigues for the Rebecchi/Timmins Boxing Day smackdown and Boyd Hoyland (episode 4575 in the archive if you wish to read more).
PirateNet
Donna reports to Rebecca that the listeners are angry at the news and she replies that she doesn't really blame them. She also tells Donna to go home (as she did with the rest of the staff), she'll pick up the flack. Paul replaces Donna and he thanks her for the decision, reassuring her that it does make sense.
Charlie's
Tash is signing posters in anticipation of the groupies turning up when Michael enters the bar and wonders what she is up to, so she tells him. Kyle comes over too, wanting to check that she's cleared it with Rebecca and Tash replies back that she has. Michael points out that she doesn't need to cheapen herself to get ahead but she replies that its business. She then offers him a poster, which he subtly rejects, and he leaves when the groupies start arriving.
(Later)
Tash is doing a roaring trade with her posters to the groupies when Karl and Zeke come in looking for Rebecca. She's miffed that they'd dare mention her name and tries to pan signed posters of her onto them instead (which they reject).
Chris and Summer enter the bar, also rejecting a signed poster and likewise Andrew does too, but he's on the hunt for Paul as everyone is angry at PirateNet closing and he wants to give his dad a heads up.
Kyle meanwhile is getting miffed at the groupies taking up tables but not buying anything and when Tash remarks that he should be grateful they've come to the bar, he informs her she will have to leave. "Fat chance" she replies, so he literally picks her up in a fireman's lift and carries her out of the bar, despite her protests, and orders the groupies to follow him outside too!
Lassiters Complex
Having shouted for a groupie to take the posters, Tash is now inundated with lots of groupies now wanting a signed poster.
Toadie comments to Michael about Tash being popular but he'd rather it wasn't his daughter!
Paul spots Toadie and wants a word - he wants PirateNet sold ASAP now Rebecca's given her approval... then they can go after Diana. Toadie agrees to Paul's demands but they end up having to rescue Rebecca when the groupies spot her coming into the complex.
Harold's Store
The RSR's have sought shelter in the store from the protesters but that doesn't stop Zeke having a go at Rebecca for her decision to sell PirateNet before being stopped by his step- parents. Toadie tries to pacify Zeke by saying that is what Rebecca wants and Susan urges her not to take it personally.
REBECCA: Its hard not to.
ZEKE: Well you should take it personally.
(Paul stands up to confront Zeke)
PAUL: You speak to my wife like that again and I'll see you outside.
(Karl standing in- between Paul and Zeke)
KARL: You speak to my son like that and I'll see you outside.
Susan then tells them both to stop it and behave!
Charlie's
Tash gloats to Kyle about her fans staying on and buying food (his gripe for chucking her out) and pleads to be let back in because the sun is in her eyes. He relents on condition she gives him a signed poster... preferably one without the red stencilling! "Afraid not" she tells him before heading off.
On the way out, two groupies stop and ask if she knows the barman because he is *so* hot and remark that being famous makes you get the hottest of boyfriends. Mmm they have planted a seed in Tash's mind with that remark...
(Later)
Provocatively dressed (no bra and partially flaunting herself), Tash hands over to Kyle the poster he requested and asks him out when he finishes. Kyle is lost for words but the thought of a second date (where they can re- enact the manhandling) has him looking like the cat that got the cream unlike the thunderous look Andrew has on his face after he watches from the other side of the bar. He gets his chance to comment (calling Kyle a meathead) when she passes him on the way out but she gets her dig into him - she's over dating little boys!
PirateNet
Rebecca is managing things by herself but enlists Kate's help (the playlist is about to end) when she comes into the studio. She reassures Rebecca after she sigh's that she did the right thing letting PirateNet go.
REBECCA: The listeners don't care about our financial trouble, they just love this radio station and they blame me for killing it.
Rebecca leaves the studio and Kate calls Zeke asking if he's got a minute.
Number 22
Paul and Declan do their best to reassure a despondent Rebecca that things will blow over and that she did the right thing.
Donna, Zeke and Kate come bursting into the house - they've come up with an idea to save her from having to sell the station. Declan wants them to leave it but Zeke demands to be heard out. He says that since the announcement people are coming forward wanting to support PirateNet and suggests they hold a protest rally to get media coverage which should produce new sponsorship. "No- one's going to sponsor a commercial station," Rebecca tries to tell him but he thinks individual sponsors will and eventually the station will be back in profit. Declan adds his tuppenceworth in - people saying they will and actually doing so are two different things, which Rebecca too agrees with, although she does also thank him for his great idea.
Zeke is very persistent though and asks "what have you got to loose?" Declan tries the blunt approach this time, telling Zeke to butt out because it's none of his business.
DECLAN: Mum's selling PirateNet end of story.
Number 30
Declan comes over to warm Toadie that there is trouble brewing - Rebecca's being talked into not selling the station. Toadie reminds him that Rebecca has to cut all business ties with Paul and he fully understands that but adds that Rebecca is now feeling guilty thinking that she's letting everyone down. Declan wants him to do something but Toadie tries to explain that his hands are tied and that its down to him - he's going to have to stop her.
