Recap
- Harry being sent into foster care
- Lou applying to be the Ramsay kids' guardian
- Lucas telling Steph he and Libby kissed
- Steph and Dan sleeping together and feeling guilty
Gym
Dan runs on the treadmill thinking over the events of last night.
Number 30
Libby writes a Christmas card to Rachel and Ty and almost signs it 'Libby and Dan' but changes the D into 'Ben'. She tells Toadie that Rachel went well on her exams and is staying on in London with Ty, so she's sending over winter woollies. Lucas drops by as Toadie heads out and confesses to Libby that he told Steph about the kiss. Libby's worried about Steph's reaction but Lucas seems to think she was OK. He says that he's going to tell Dan about the kiss too as part of his new "honesty policy", but Libby shrugs and says Dan isn't her problem anymore.
Number 32
Libby interrupts Steph's vacuuming and apologises for kissing Lucas, but is surprised when Steph takes it incredibly well (and by incredibly well read: dying of shame).
LIBBY: It was just a stupid spur of the moment thing.
STEPH: I get it.
LIBBY: You do?
STEPH: Yeah. Trust me.
Libby hugs Steph and says she doesn't deserve her, but Steph guiltily shirks away and tells her to forget about it.
Gym
Lucas has worked up the courage to tell Dan about the kiss but is confused when Dan starts laughing hysterically. Dan tells him they all make mistakes and it's fine, but Lucas thinks he's mad at him and is just covering it up.
LUCAS: You can't be happy with this, not with our history.
DAN: There's no future in the past, mate.
LUCAS: Don't do this, if you're angry at least say so.
DAN: I'm not angry with you Lucas.
LUCAS: Don't blame Libby.
DAN: I'm angry with myself, it's me. Here you are freaking out because you and Libby kissed and I have done a lot worse.
LUCAS: (cottoning on) You mean...
DAN: Yeah.
Lucas asks with who but Dan just says it was someone he picked up last night. Lucas then asks if he's going to tell Libby but Dan says everything has already been hard enough on her. Lucas thinks telling the truth might help her feel less guilty but Dan begs him to keep it a secret.
Number 24
Harry visits his sisters while they burn some Christmas cakes (their mum's speciality). Kate and Lou are happy to see him but Sophie's pretty cranky with him because he can't spend Christmas with them. Harry tries to win her over by letting her know the special ingredient they're missing (and thank God it's cinnamon because if it was "love" I would have spewed), but Sophie just throws some trays around. Lou reminds Harry that he's supposed to head to his other home after work, but Harry says if Lou gives him a dollar he's technically working.
Number 30
Libby's making a Christmas food shopping list with Ben, Susan and Karl but every time Susan volunteers to make something the family say they've already got it covered. Toadie returns with some groceries, and Steph, who isn't keen on being there. Susan invites Steph (and Oscar-less Lyn) to their Christmas Eve lunch. Ben's excited because Dan will be there - cue all of the adults in the room looking tense. Karl takes Ben away to wrap Dan's present while the women chat.
LIBBY: Do you really think Dan's going to come to Christmas Eve lunch?
SUSAN: Ben said he promised and it obviously means the world to him.
LIBBY: What about me? What about you?
SUSAN: I can handle it.
LIBBY: I'm not sure I can.
SUSAN: I can handle it for Ben, he's been talking about it all day. And I know it will be awkward but I think we can all put our differences aside for one afternoon.
Steph doesn't look too sure about that.
Later, Steph tries to make a quick getaway but runs smack bang into Dan at the front door. They exchange stilted hellos before Steph rushes out. Libby has asked Dan over to remind him about lunch with Ben, but Dan isn't so sure about his promise now - a lot has happened since he made it.
LIBBY: I was hoping we could put it behind us just for one day.
DAN: Can you honestly?
LIBBY: Yeah for Ben I can.
DAN: I don't know, Lib...
LIBBY: You mean so much to him.
DAN: I just... I think it might be better if I'm not there.
LIBBY: Just give him one last Christmas, alright? Just give him a nice day.
DAN: What happens when we all start arguing again? It's just going to upset him more.
LIBBY: Well we won't.
DAN: I'm sorry. I'll talk to him, try and explain.
LIBBY: Is this some sort of punishment is it? I take it Lucas told you what happened?
DAN: This has got nothing to do with Lucas.
LIBBY: I thought you wanted to have a relationship with Ben?
DAN: I do.
LIBBY: Really? If you can't be there for him at Christmas when can you be there for him?
Number 28
Harry has made Sophie wear a silly Christmas hat like him so they can deliver their cakes around the neighbourhood. Susan, Karl and Ben listen in amusement as Harry sings them a carol (We Wish You A Ramsay Christmas), and Sophie sulkily joins in at the end. He explains it was their family tradition in their old neighbourhood.
While Harry helps Karl string up some lights, Sophie confesses to Susan that doing all this stuff without her mum just makes her feel sad. Susan thinks that Sophie could make a new tradition with Harry - like making gingerbread. Pleased with this idea, Sophie drags Harry away to start baking.
Number 24
Just when I thought every type of montage had been done on this show we get a BAKING MONTAGE! Lou and the Ramsay kids make gingerbread men, but their fun is spoilt when Harry's foster mum calls. She wants him to come home but Harry defiantly says he's staying until the baking is done, much to Sophie's delight.
Charlie's Bar
Dan circles an ad in the paper for a teaching job in Sydney but Lucas spots it before he can hide it. Lucas can't believe Dan's thinking about running away - if Dan taught him one thing it's that running away isn't the answer.
DAN: This is different, Lucas.
LUCAS: OK you better make the most of this because you're only going to hear it once, but I need you. With Elle gone you've helped keep my head straight.
DAN: You're a lot stronger now mate.
LUCAS: Yeah but you're my brother; I kind of got used to having you around.
(Dan takes this in)
LUCAS: What about Ben? How do you think this is going to be for him?
DAN: (lying to himself) He'll get over it.
LUCAS: You reckon?
DAN: I'm not his father.
LUCAS: No... No you're not.
Lucas walks off, disappointed in his brother.
Dan's Hotel Room
Dan puts together a bike for Ben and writes him a Christmas card. Libby and Lucas's words run through his head about being there for Ben, but Dan can't help flashing back to his night with Steph and all the guilt floods back. He takes another look at the job ad in the paper and comes to a decision.
Ramsay Street
Ben rushes over to chat with Toadie while Susan and Libby talk about Dan. Libby says she's spoken to him about lunch but she's not sure if he's coming. The Ramsay kids run out with Lou following them as they deliver their gingerbread Santas to the neighbours. Harry's foster mum arrives to pick him up, so Kate and Sophie serenade him with carols as they drive away and Harry sticks his head out the window and joins in like a giant dork.
Number 26
Libby (and Ben) bring in the gingerbread Santa to Steph that were left on the doorstep. Ben takes the food into Charlie's room while Steph asks how Libby went with Dan. Libby's not sure but she thinks she got through to him. Whatever happens he loves Ben and he wouldn't let him down.
Ramsay Street
Or would he? Dan sits out the front of Number 30 in his car, which is packed up with all of his belongings in it.
Number 26
Libby asks if Steph got the all-clear for Christmas Eve lunch from Lyn, but Steph lies and says that Lyn's stressed about things and that they can't make it.
Ramsay Street
Dan pops the boot and stares at Ben's bike. Can he go through with this?
Number 26
Libby heads home and Steph says Ben can stay and play with Charlie.
Ramsay Street
Dan's just about to take Ben's bike out of the boot when Libby sees him. She's outraged when she realises it's a goodbye present for her son. Dan explains that he didn't know what else to do, but Libby says he's pathetic. She angrily shoves the bike back into the boot and yells at Dan to go. Hearing the commotion, Steph walks out and is a bit shocked to see Dan ready to leave. Dan shares a look with her before getting into his car and driving out of Ramsay Street. Libby bursts into tears and Steph consoles her, but looks incredibly guilty whilst doing so.
Number 30
Lucas is gobsmacked to hear the news from Libby and that Dan would just leave without saying anything. Steph's there as well but just sits in morose silence. Ben races in to show his mum the mug he wrapped for Dan. Libby can't bring herself to tell Ben the bad news so she tells him to get his jammies on so he can have some TV time before bed instead. Ben goes into the hall.
LUCAS: You have to explain it to him.
LIBBY: (upset) Dan just left without saying goodbye, how do I explain that to him?

REBECCA: This looks fun, I think it might be your Deb photos.
(Declan looks at a photo of he and Kate)
DECLAN: It's only been six months and there's this stupid photo and I don't want to see it, it's just wrong... And I think I like her.
REBECCA: Does she like you too?
DECLAN: I think so.
(Rebecca sees Kate in Charlie's)
REBECCA: Kate... Declan told me.
KATE: (alarmed) Told you what?

LYN: What the hell's all this?
(Rebecca gloats to Paul inside the bar)
REBECCA: Let's just see Lyn Scully try and top this!

REBECCA: What is that?
PAUL: We can't let her get away with this.
