Recap
Kate and Declan kissing.
Steph catching Lucas and Libby kissing.
Number 32
Steph puts all of Lucas belongings into boxes/black bags...she isn't a happy person!
Number 30
Libby and Lucas sit guiltily apart on the sofa.
Number 32
Steph deletes pictures from her phone - a Steph/Lucas one, a Dan/Libby/Steph one and after a bit of a pause one of herself and Libby.
Number 30
Libby and Lucas attempt to clear the air although you could still cut the tension with a knife. Lucas adds that it was a crazy time and that "crazy times make people do crazy things."
Charlie's
Dan pulls off his wedding ring and puts it into his pocket.
Later, Steph arrives and says sorry to Dan for what happened in the store earlier. He comments about her being loyal to Libby and Steph makes a remark about loyalty being a two-way street but doesn't expand on it. They decide to have a drink together and Dan reminisces about Steph throwing a drink over herself 10 years ago to get away from him!
STEPH: Oh well the night's still young. How about I do get that drink and if you still don't feel like company when it arrives you can pour it over yourself and leave.
DAN: Righto. Done.
Number 22
The guys are playing computer games to take their minds off the forthcoming exam results. "Don't stress, whatever happens happens" says Zeke although Declan and Ringo think otherwise and wish they'd done more studying when Donna and Kate arrive for supplies. Zeke and Ringo follow Donna into the kitchen (to keep her away from their supplies) leaving Kate alone to talk to Declan. The conversation is very stifled, so she shouts to Donna that she'll meet her outside and leaves.
Harold's Store
The guys are stocking up on supplies after Donna got their last lot. Zeke gets a text from Mia and is told to ring her back when he tries to play it cool.
Toadie arrives for another batch of mince pies from Jumilla and chats to the guys about their "sentence of doom" aka their forthcoming exam results. He praises Declan for sticking through the tough year that he's had and tells him not to stress...have a mince pie instead!
Charlie's
A tipsy Steph and Dan are reminiscing about their date/non-date in times gone by. He questions Steph as to why she didn't give things a go with Drew before two seconds later finishing Steph's sentence saying she wouldn't do that to Libby.
DAN: It would be great if there was a reset button don't you reckon? Just go back and do things over.
STEPH: Oh yes.
DAN: What if I'd never left Erinsborough? What if I'd stayed away, would I be sitting here right now staring at another divorce?
STEPH: Mmm, yes there's a few things I'd do something about if I could go back.
DAN: Mmm like what?
Before Steph can answer, the entertainment starts their sound check and Steph announces its time to bail. Dan ribs her about being out past her bedtime, so she decides to stays and tells Dan the next round is on him.
Number 28
Lucas decides to stay and help Libby wrap her Christmas pressies even though she told him it wasn't necessary.
LIBBY: Its okay, you can let yourself off the hook.
LUCAS: I will if you will.
Charlie's
The group are giving it all and in the background Dan invites Steph for a dance.
Number 28
Libby asks Lucas about Elle and he remarks that he hasn't heard from her for a bit. "You guys are still engaged" she asks and Lucas throws his hands up into the air as if to say I don't know. He tells her about going bike shopping with Steph and that it felt normal "for the first time in ages." Lib remarks that she is glad that the two of them have sorting their stuff out and are friends again.
Charlie's
Dan and Steph are having a good time bopping away to the band when someone bashes into Dan, which causes him to bash into Steph and spill her drink. They end up face to face as if to pash but both realise that would be wrong and so re-tune into the group.
Number 28
Libby is happy that Steph is in Lucas' corner and he replies back that she's got people in her corner too.
LIBBY: I know. It's not like I'm the only person to have a rough year.
LUCAS: Can't get any worse though right?
Charlie's
Dan and Steph continue to dance away and glance at each other before the inevitable happens and they begin pashing!
Harold's Store/Number 30 (next day)
As Dan sips his coffee, he gets a call from a nervous Libby wanting a meeting so they can talk. She suggests Charlie's and he agrees.
Number 30
"Well done" Toadie tells Libby when she comes off the phone and she remarks that they'd never have known that they were married. Toadie points out that she did all that she needed to be - calm, reasonable and mature. "It can't be easy for him either" Libby points out when Toadie remarked that "its pretty tough going".
Harold's Store
Steph joins Dan for a post-mortem over events the previous evening (he texted her). Both admit that it shouldn't have happened and hope that nobody saw them. "I don't know but it shouldn't have happened," remarks Dan.
STEPH: I don't know what we're going to do.
DAN: Well I reckon we can either tell Libby now and get it over with or we can think about it some more, wait and see or we could just try and move on.
STEPH: Just forget it ever happened?
DAN: Well that's one way to go.
STEPH: Yes but every time we see each other we're going to be reminded of it.
He tells her that they need to keep it together for Libby's sake.
STEPH: I just don't know if I can live with it.
DAN: Look, telling her is only going to hurt her. It's going to make it ten times worse.
Lucas interrupts their chat but asks if he should go away again when he can sense the atmosphere between them. Steph says no, they were just talking about things and Dan tells him about Libby's call to arrange a meeting to divide their assets. "Let me guess you were pushing her side" he says to Steph, which she half-agrees with before he brings up his belongings being in boxes. Steph explains that potential buyers were coming to look at the house so he asks she lets him know so he can tidy up his own mess in future.
Ramsay Street
Donna joins the guys as they wait for their results when a phone starts beeping. False alarm, its just Zeke's with a text from Mia wanting to talk. Declan suggests brekkie at #22 but doesn't want Kate to join them when they spot her appearing on the street. Donna picks up on this it and wants to know what is going on but both deny anything although Declan walking off just proves to Donna that there is something up and she tells the now arrived Kate to start talking!
Harold's Store
Donna is giving Declan the third degree for calling Kate a skank for the dress she wore at schoolies. He seems rather relived that Kate hasn't told the full truth and apologises to her for what he said. Thankfully the phones start beeping with their exam results and Donna asks that they can all be friends now before they go and read their respective text messages.
KATE: (happy) I got it, I got into teaching.
Donna and Ringo haven't got texts yet and she looks at Zeke concerned - he's playing down how good he got on. Declan is miserable over his 73% because its not enough to get on the course he wanted and doesn't take too kindly to Zeke's words especially when he says sorry.
DECLAN: What are you sorry about? You could probably get into any course you want, not that you can be bothered to work out what that is.
Kate butts in and tells him to leave Zeke alone, so he turns on her, telling her to stay out of it but she's had enough, replying "I'm sick of you taking all your issues out on everyone else."
Lassiters Complex
Donna and Ringo depart the store, bothered that they've just brought everything back for Declan again and annoyed that they still haven't heard their exam results yet.
Kate too makes her way out of the store (once she sees Ringo and Donna leave the area) and gives Declan the milkshake he left when he walked out. He thanks her for covering and she apologises for snapping at him, which in turn leads Declan to apologise for being a jerk and he adds he'll talk to Zeke too. Kate sits down next to him and tries to reassure him that his exam result isn't that bad - if he got into Uni he'd have to get a job which would mean less time with Indy.
DECLAN: So she misses out on a future because her dad's stupid?
KATE: No, you're not stupid. She won't miss out on anything.
DECLAN: I need a degree.
KATE: And you'll get one, just not right now. Sometimes things don't always work out the way we want.
Charlie's
Now that they are alone, Dan apologises to Lucas for his behaviour last night. Lucas suggests they have a coffee but Libby's arrival curtails that suggestion. Dan heads over and Toadie escorts them to an empty table to get things started. Dan happens to look up as Steph enters the bar but she does a quick about turn and begins heads out again until Lucas calls on her, he's after a favour - he needs to take a step back and wants her to look after Libby.
STEPH: Why? What's happened?
LUCAS: ...
STEPH: Lucas?
LUCAS: Okay, Libby and I, we kissed last night. It was just a head of the moment thing and it shouldn't have happened but it did happen.
STEPH: (calm) Okay. So why are you telling me?
LUCAS: Because I don't want there to be any secrets between us. Anyway I'm going to look after Dan and Libby needs someone too.
STEPH: Yes of course.
LUCAS: I reckon she's going to need you more than ever.
Steph looks over guiltily at Dan who in the brief look back at her looks just as guilty.
Commercial break later and Lucas leaves the bar after telling Steph to look after Libby.
At the negotiating table, Dan is having trouble concentrating on the discussions and when Steph leaves the bar, he gets up and leaves too leaving Libby and Toadie bemused.
Lassiters Complex
Dan shouts on Steph to wait up and reluctantly she stops but only to tell him that he should be inside trying to work things out with Libby. "I can't focus" he replies then we go into flashback land (Steph in a robe) and he tells her that they need to tell Libby.
DAN: She can't find out from someone else.
STEPH: Look there's nothing to tell.
(Flashback to Dan waking up in bed alone)
DAN: Come on Steph, we can't pretend it didn't happen.
STEPH: No.
DAN: It's crazy.
STEPH: Dan please, too many people are going to get hurt.
(Flashback to Dan coming to and spotting Steph in a robe in his bathroom and realising in the cold light of day what happened)
STEPH: (shaking her head) What have we done?
