Number 30
Toadie and Ben are playing a Wii game when Dan returns from the memorial. Toadie sends Ben to get drinks but he eavesdrops from the hallway and finds out that Susan's in hospital. Toadie asks if Susan's alright and Dan says they're running tests - they think it's her MS.
DAN: I tried so hard to put this right, Toad.
TOADIE: And it will be.
DAN: Everyone blames me.
TOADIE: No they don't.
DAN: Susan does.
TOADIE: No she's just angry.
DAN: She made it quite clear this is my fault.
Ben silently takes this information in.
Harold's Store
Lyn hears the Susan news from Sunny, Steph and Lucas. Sunny wishes she could cancel her parents' visit but they're already on their way. Lyn goes off to organise some food & Sunny returns home to help the boys with their housecleaning. Lucas and Steph take a seat and Steph promises she won't tell Lib that she knows her secret (that she blames Dan for the baby's death). Steph wonders if Dan should know the truth but Lucas advises against it.
STEPH: I know what you mean now about wishing you didn't know.
LUCAS: Yeah sucks doesn't it.
Ramsay Street
Kate notices Harry wandering around aimlessly and she rushes over to give him a hug. He thought he'd stop by during his free period. Kate wishes Sophie was home to see him and asks how things are going. Harry says they're fine - they get pancakes for breakfast; what could be better? Harry sees the sewing machine Kate's carrying and Kate explains she's helping Donna with another fashion crisis (and lending her a friendly ear because she's been fighting with Ringo yet again).
Number 28 Backyard
Ringo has been spilling his guts to Declan about Donna while they've been jogging. He got annoyed with her being all, "Flouncy and bouncy and oh my God". Declan figures that Ringo should apologise, even if he's in the right, so they can keep the peace at schoolies next week. Ringo thinks he might just back out but Declan thinks that's the worst idea ever - they've been planning for schoolies all year. Declan reiterates the apology plan, but Ringo has to take flowers as well.
Number 22
Donna's sulking to Kate about Ringo not calling but Kate reminds her that she already sent Ringo away that morning after a failed apology attempt. Rebecca gets off the phone and tells the girls about Susan's MS relapse. She grabs the grocery bags to buy food & puts the idea in Donna's head to get a bank loan for her shrug-o-lero idea before she leaves.
Declan and Ringo (holding some flowers) arrive and Donna's stoked to see her boyfriend. Everything is back to normal until Ringo inadvertently laughs off Donna's bank loan idea ("you don't know anything about money or business") and the fighting starts again. Oh goody.
Susan's Hospital Room
Karl gives Susan the good news that she's allowed to go home but Susan's worried about going through her MS struggle again and how hard it will also be on the family.
KARL: I just wish I'd stuck to my guns from the start.
SUSAN: Don't, don't...
KARL: This surrogacy was a mistake.
SUSAN: Please for Libby's sake you mustn't say anything.
KARL: No of course not.
Too late - Libby has overheard everything from the hallway.
Number 28
Zeke, Sunny and Ringo are cleaning up when Rebecca brings over a dish of Moroccan lamb. It's too bad Lyn's already there with the same meal.
REBECCA: Oh. Did you make the same thing did you?
LYN: Oh I'm sure it's completely different.
REBECCA: Yes I'm sure it is. I put apricots in mine.
LYN: Sickly sweet.
REBECCA: I find it's a bit bitter otherwise, Lyn.
Zeke tries to mediate and suggests they merge the dishes into one big dish but Rebecca and Lyn soon stop that madness. Ringo offers to clean more so he can avoid Donna and brings up the idea of ditching schoolies again. Zeke thinks he might as well - he needs to be home to look after Susan.
Meanwhile back in the kitchen, Rebecca and Lyn are still bickering about their meals when Karl arrives home with Susan. Everyone tries to hide how upset they are when they see Susan's in a wheelchair. Susan puts on a brave face and tries to assure everyone it's just temporary.
Number 28
Karl has settled Susan on the couch while Lyn and Rebecca say their goodbyes, vying against one another to be Susan's first port of call if she needs anything. Libby arrives with Ben and encourages him to hang out with Susan but Ben's in a bad mood with his nan for "being mean to Dan". Libby seethes and tells Ben to apologise but Susan says she understands.
BEN: Sorry.
SUSAN: It's OK.
BEN: Does this mean you'll be nice to Dan?
SUSAN: Dan and I are having a few problems.
BEN: Because the baby died?
SUSAN: Yeah.
BEN: But mum said it was an accident. Didn't you?
LIBBY: Yeah it was.
BEN: Then why are you mad at him?
Susan thinks she needs to have a proper chat with Ben so Karl and Libby go to get some air outside.
Number 28 Backyard
Libby tells her dad she overheard what he said at the hospital. Karl doesn't have the energy to deal with that conversation right now, but Libby continues anyway.
LIBBY: I know you think this is my fault but I never forced mum into this. She offered.
KARL: And you accepted.
LIBBY: That's unfair.
KARL: No it's not. You knew your mother would do anything - anything - to make you happy, even put herself at risk.
LIBBY: You know me wanting a baby was not some selfish whim.
KARL: It was. You had Ben, you had Dan and still you're not happy. Now look at us.
LIBBY: This is not my fault.
KARL: No the fault's mine for not stopping this surrogacy when I should have.
He walks off and leaves her on the balcony.
Harold's Store
Lyn and Rebecca come to blows again about making meals when Lyn comments on some fancy ingredient Rebecca has picked up.
REBECCA: It's for my Spanish chicken in a citrus reduction.
LYN: Ooh, la di da.
REBECCA: Susan loves it. [She spies Steph trying to make a run for it at the entrance] And so does Steph, hello!
STEPH: (awkward) Hi, uh, I love anything Spanish... I'm just going to get some milk.
LYN: Look those people who really know Susan know that she prefers comfort food, just like the potato and cheese pie I'm about to make.
REBECCA: Well comfort food is full of fat (muttering) like the people who make it.
LYN: What did you say?!
REBECCA: Nothing.
LYN: Stephy! What would Susan prefer: my delicious potato and cheese pie or some Swedish chicken concoction?
REBECCA: It's Spanish.
Fed up, Steph says what Susan would probably prefer is for her two best friends to get along. She walks out without her milk and the scene cuts to Declan and Ringo having coffee. Declan thinks Ringo should still come to schoolies so he can sort his Donna issues out. Speaking of, Donna and Kate waltz in wearing formal business wear for their meeting with the bank.
DECLAN: Why are you dressed like a librarian?
DONNA: We're not librarians! We're competent businesswomen and we're going to kill it.
Ringo tries to make amends (again) but doesn't get why Donna just doesn't go to the meeting as herself. But Donna doesn't listen and flounces out - well, she tries to flounce out but I'm guessing the glasses she's wearing aren't prescription and she can't quite see the door handle. Kate quickly comes to her rescue.
Bank
Donna and Kate are in a meeting with a bank dude but he is very unimpressed with all of Donna's business babble. He takes a call in another room and Donna confesses to Kate that she's dying - but Kate opens up the backpack she brought and tells Donna she has a back-up plan. Ringo was right about one thing - Donna needs to be herself.
So, when bank dude returns he's met with Donna and Kate all dressed up in shrug-o-leros. Kate cranks up the iPod and they put on an impromptu runway show down the hall, with Donna narrating a more Donna-fied business spiel. They earn a round of applause from all the workers and a pleased smile from the bank dude like, "Wow! This girl is GOING places by gum!" Yeesh.
Harold's Store
Donna and Kate are on a high after securing the loan. Well, Donna has to write up a proper business plan and get Paul to go guarantor first, but it's as good as done! Donna gets a coffee while Kate chats to Harry, who has stopped in for a drink. Kate wants to know when she and Sophie can visit Harry's new house, but Harry is quite evasive and says it's too crowded ("like the Brady Bunch").
Declan and Ringo arrive and are excited that Donna got the loan. Kate tells Ringo to go and congratulate Donna, so he meekly goes over to her. After a bit of awkwardness, Donna smiles and says she couldn't have done it without Ringo's idea to be herself.
RINGO: So you took my advice? [He smiles contentedly] About time!
Oh for crap's sake, Ringo. Donna gets irritated that Ringo practically did an 'I told you so' dance, and Ringo promises her he didn't mean it like that, but now they're back to square one with the arguing and I'm feeling as over it as Declan and Kate right about now.
DONNA: (tersely) Wow schoolies is going to be fun.
RINGO: Yeah. Can't wait.
Number 28
Lyn and Rebecca have brought Susan a menu for the week that they've written up and a list of times when they're both available to help around the house - on different days of course. The ladies leave and Susan tells Karl to take some leftovers to Libby, but Karl doesn't want to see his daughter right now.
KARL: We had words.
SUSAN: Oh Karl I asked you not to say anything.
KARL: Yes and I had no choice because she overheard what I said at the hospital.
SUSAN: You have to go an apologise.
KARL: Yes, yes, yes.
SUSAN: The last thing we need is for you two to be fighting. It took me all afternoon to get Ben back onside.
KARL: I'll sort it out, but not tonight.
Charlie's Bar
Steph walks in and sees Dan sitting at the bar by himself. She almost turns around and leaves but can't help herself and goes over to say hello.
STEPH: Tough day huh? Wouldn't you rather be at home?
DAN: I need some space. Well, Libby needs some space. I'm just trying to give it to her.
STEPH: I know what Lib's like, she shuts down in a crisis.
DAN: This feels different Steph. It's like she hates me now.
(He plays with his wedding ring)
STEPH: Well you should go home and make her talk. I just... I think she needs to.
(Dan notices how uncomfortable Steph looks)
DAN: Why has she said something?
STEPH: No.
DAN: Steph...
STEPH: No Dan honestly, she's hardly said a word to me.
DAN: Steph if there's something I should know... She blames me doesn't she. For Susan, for the baby. It's true isn't it.
Steph's silence speaks volumes.
Number 30
Dan finds Libby sitting alone on the couch and says he knows she blames him for everything. Libby thinks he's been talking to Lucas and is surprised to hear he got it from Steph, but Dan's stunned that she's been confiding in everyone but him.
DAN: (annoyed) You should be talking to me Libby!
LIBBY: I can't.
DAN: What do you mean you can't?
LIBBY: I can't now please.
DAN: Well then when?
LIBBY: I don't know.
DAN: Libby you can't shut me out like this.
LIBBY: I'm not shutting you out! Just...
DAN: Just what?
LIBBY: I just can't be around you!
DAN: Look you blame me, I get that. If I could take it back I would.
LIBBY: But you can't. And I don't know how to forgive you.
(Dan looks taken aback)
DAN: So where does that leave us?
(Libby doesn't have an answer for him)
DAN: Right.
He walks out.

[Tomorrow on Neighbours]
(Libby chases Dan up the driveway - he's holding a small suitcase)
LIBBY: You wanted me to be honest.
DAN: Yep and you were.
(Libby watches Dan drive off with Lucas in the car)
(Toadie and Ben watch)
BEN: Where's he going?
(Libby confronts Steph outside)
LIBBY: You told him?
STEPH: No he already knew.
LIBBY: Thanks Steph.
(Lucas has gotten Dan to pull over for a chat)
DAN: I've lost everything.
LUCAS: What are you going to do just run away?
(Karl comes to see Libby at #30)
KARL: I'm very concerned about your mother's health.
LIBBY: Yeah.
KARL: But you're OK?
LIBBY: Yep.
(Susan is chatting with Sunny)
SUSAN: How long till your parents get here?
(Zeke and Sunny talk)
ZEKE: I'm not going to lie.
SUNNY: You have to otherwise we're finished.
ZEKE: This isn't going to work.
SUNNY: They will put me on the next plane out, is that what you want?
