Recap
Libby telling Lucas that if she tells Dan how she feels, she'll blame him.
Dan asking Libby to talk to him so they can get through this.
Hospital
Dan plucks up the courage to go into Susan's room and instead follows Libby in when she spots him standing by the door. He hands over the flowers and hears the news that Susan is being allowed home today.
DAN: I'm glad you're okay. Look I'm not going to pretend that things are okay because we both know they're not. I'm sorry that we had a fight Susan, and I'm sorry I wasn't there for you and if I could change things I would.
SUSAN: But you can't, can you?
Harold's Store
Dan wants Libby to decide on a memorial since legally they have to have a funeral for the baby and thinks the sooner the better to help Susan...and himself.
Lucas arrives to see if Dan wants to go to the gym and while initially he wasn't keen, both Libby and Lucas persuade him to.
While Dan heads to the counter to pay, Lucas asks how things are going and Libby tells him about their trip to the hospital and that Susan shut him out. "Like mother like daughter hey," he remarks before urging her to talk to Dan but she totally refuses to.
Number 22
Donna is doodling fashion designs when Ringo pops by to say he's off to work (he's smartly dressed in his St. John's uniform). He asks what's she's been doing and when she shows him her sketches, he comments favourably on them but he's missed the point - she's created a new fashion item (a top that is a cross between a shrug and a bolero). A chance remark by him on the way out results in Donna coming up with a name for it - a shrug-o-lero.
Number 24
Paul drops off some goodies for his nieces as Donna enters to show off her creation to Kate...so she can run off some samples. Kate is reluctant to help as she promised to hang out with Sophie who's still down in the dumps after Harry left but Donna ropes her into it whether she's ready or not!
Gym
Dan thanks Lucas for all the help he's been lately and when Libby drops off his trainers (he forgot them). He mentions to her Lucas' idea for the memorial - putting up a plaque in a park (there is a new one at Eden Hills) in memory of the baby. Libby likes the idea and Dan's name for the baby too - Sean Thomas (after both their paternal grandfathers).
Number 30
An exhausted Libby arrives home and puts on a front to Steph who buys it before leaving her to it.
We then go to music montage time over Loir's "Grey Ocean". We begin with Dan running his heart out on a treadmill, Susan coming home to #28, Libby tidying up at #30 and reading the definition for 'Sean' in her baby names book.
Gym
Dan finishes his workout as Steph enters the gym. After she asks the obligatory question (how are you), Dan tells her about the memorial to Sean. She wonders who he is referring to and he thought that he thought Libby would have told her (she said she'd been round to see Libby).
Number 28
Libby drops by to tell her parents (and Zeke) about the memorial tomorrow. Susan is surprised at the speed of it especially given she is just out of hospital but after a sarcastic comment, relays the news she isn't going as she can't be around Dan just now.
Lucas enters with a rough sketch of the plaque to show them. 'In loving memory of Sean Thomas Fitzgerald' it reads and Libby explains the choice of names.
SUSAN: I thought you didn't like the name Sean?
LIBBY: I changed my mind.
SUSAN: Because it's what Dan wants? What about you? Where do you fit into this?
LIBBY: ...
Commercial break later and Karl is trying to show Lucas the door but he's more interested in the conversation Susan and Libby are having. Susan is trying to get Libby to postpone the service (even though Karl pointed out that it's a legal obligation) but she is rather blasé and remarks that it will help people to process. This leads to Susan saying the only person that will help is Dan and on hearing that, Lucas decides he's heard enough and intervenes.
LUCAS: Dan's lost a child too you know and it's not the first. You don't think he's suffering?
Karl tries to get Lucas to leave but he isn't until he's said his piece.
LUCAS: Dan is a good man who's had nothing but rubbish thrown at him. If she can't forgive him, maybe she shouldn't come tomorrow.
Number 24
Donna, Kate and Sophie are back from the shops laden with material and transform Donna's paper idea into reality using Kate's sewing skills and Sophie as a model. All three looked to have had a great time but Donna's good mood is brought crashing down when Ringo texts to say he's having dinner with his St. John's colleagues. This leads Donna to realise again their different career paths although Kate doesn't seem to think its such a the big deal Donna is making out, telling her that the two of them should be together regardless of their career aspirations.
Charlie's
Ringo and his St John's colleagues are discuss their day when Donna arrives to show off her creation. This doesn't go down well with Ringo who is annoyed at her barging in while he was hanging out with the guys. After a brief chat at the bar, she decides to leave but you can see the hurt in her face although he does look pretty annoyed at her.
Number 22 (next day)
Donna and Kate are discussing what happened at the bar when Ringo arrives to talk but she brushes him off so he leaves.
Number 28
Susan gets a comforting hug from her husband as her frustration at not being able to sort her flower gets the better of her.
KARL: Sweetheart, looking for someone to blame doesn't help, I've tried that.
SUSAN: I lost Libby's baby.
Eden Hills Park
Dan, Libby, Steph and Lucas are standing waiting for Karl and Susan. Libby assures them they are coming and Lucas and Steph head off to see if they can find them.
As they walk, Steph asks him what is going on and he tells her what he said to Susan after what she said to Dan got to him. "Everything's getting to me at the moment" he adds then after a quick look over, he explains himself - Libby blames Dan for the baby's death. Steph can't believe it, and he adds that Libby's holding it together for Dan's sake and that it's really messed up. She wants to know how he knows all this and isn't happy that Libby has chosen to confide in him instead of her. "I didn't ask for this okay" he quickly adds before spotting Sunny, Zeke Susan and Karl arriving.
As they wait, Zeke explains to Steph about the balloons he and Sunny brought with them - attached to each is some seeds and they hope that whoever finds the balloon will plant the seeds in Sean's memory. Dan appreciates this gesture too and Karl explains that it was Susan's idea and Dan immediately thanks her before saying they should get started.
Everyone makes their way to where a bench with the plaque 'In loving memory of Sean Thomas Fitzgerald' on it is situated. Dan begins by reading out a poem:
DAN: Do not stand in my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die. Goodbye Sean.
Everyone else then releases a balloon and the watch on as the wind carries them away. Dan invites Libby to say something but she refuses, so he thanks everyone for coming.
DAN: When you're expecting a child, you don't expect this. Sean, I'm sorry I never got to meet you. Sorry I'll never get to hear you laugh. I'm sorry that I'll never get to read you a story or kiss you goodnight.
At this point Libby breaks down and Steph immediately hugs her. Susan quietly tells Karl that it's too much but he just wants them carry on as Dan does with his speech.
DAN: Or be there for your first day at school. I'm sorry
SUSAN: I'm sorry?! What about Libby?
DAN: We're all trying to get through this together Susan.
SUSAN: NO, no Dan. This service had been about one person only from start to finish.
Susan walks off and Karl follows her as Libby continues to sob into Steph's shoulder.
Commercial break later and Dan runs after Susan wanting to sort it out but she just thinks that is so he feels better.
DAN: So we can move on.
SUSAN: Oh you want to move on. You find a way to do it that doesn't hurt Libby.
DAN: She has to grieve too.
SUSAN: Don't you dare pretend you did this for her. (Shrugging Karl off) I came but that's it, nothing else has changed.
DAN: Well if that's the way you feel, why bother coming at all?
SUSAN: I'm here for Libby, so you just leave me alone.
(Libby has now arrived)
DAN: I've said I'm sorry.
SUSAN: You think that covers it?
DAN: He was my child, Susan.
SUSAN: HE WAS LIBBY'S CHILD TOO!
LIBBY: Mum please.
SUSAN: (pointing at Dan) You did this. You made me fall.
Libby drags her shell-shocked husband away and Susan shouts at him
SUSAN: That's right Dan, walk away. That's what you do isn't it?
Karl tries to tell her that's enough; she has to stay calm and leaves her standing while he goes off to get the car. However, two seconds after Karl leaves her, she starts to feel dizzy and collapses onto the ground and everyone runs to her, even Dan.
