Elle hanging up on her dad when she sees Lucas walk in
Libby picking out boys and girls names for the deb
Kate doesn't have a dress or partner
Declan tells Harry not to tell him what Bridget would want
Toadie, Lou and Declan all turning up to be Kate's date
Ringo, Zeke, Donna and Sunny are all impressed by how good the deb looks. Declan and Kate enter and it's all smiles and joy. Kate thanks Declan for doing this for her, as she knows it isn't easy. Declan says if Jason Coleman gives her a hard time she's to let him know.
Kyle enters and Donna makes it clear that her and Ringo haven't broken up – they're doing the presentation and the first dance together and that's it. Amanda comes to find Ringo and is surprised to see Kate with Declan.
The teens have all their photos taken.
Libby and Toadie are talking about Jason Coleman and Libby is telling Toadie to behave. Jason Coleman comes over and Libby introduces “Jarrod” who goes a bit crazy. After Jason manages to claim his hand back from Toadie (Toadie's been shaking it for ages) Libby explains how their deb is environmentally friendly and that Kate Ramsay organised it. Libby points her out and Jason waves to her. Kate looks a bit unsure. Declan checks that she's OK, and she says she is – she doesn't care what he thinks anymore.
Elle and Lucas enter and Lucas gives her his jacket. Whilst Libby makes a speech about why the deb is important for the students, Elle pulls out a piece of paper from Lucas' pocket and looks at it, when he turns around she puts it back in the pocket.
Libby introduces Jason Coleman to the microphone. He says it's a pleasure to be there and they move on the presentations, as the teens wait backstage for their names. Each couple is called out, and they're all clapped. Ringo looks very annoyed to have to walk down with Amanda.
When Kate and Declan are called we have a bit of slow motion going on as Kate comes face-to-face with Jason Coleman. She nearly falls over and Amanda laughs.
The teens are all chatting and Sunny insults Amanda, which make them all cheer. Steph offers them dips for their food, and says that the power outage is down, which is good. Amnda bumps into Steph, who falls – with dip – straight into Kate. Kate's dress is now covered in what looks like papier-mache! Steph apologises, and Donna demands soda water from Ringo.
STEPH: Your beautiful dress, I'm so sorry. I was pushed!
She turns around to see Amanda behind her.
AMANDA: Sorry, I tripped. You know what it's like with heels.
In the toilets
Susan is working on Kate's dress and Karl delivers the soda water. Kate looks very upset and Susan tells her not to worry – they got tomato sauce out of Karl's white jeans with soda water. Donna is surprised Karl has white jeans.
KARL: They're slacks
SUSAN: Well, they were slack once, now they're skin-tight!
The Kennedy banter, however, isn't amusing Kate who still looks upset. She says she knew she should have come to the deb, and locks herself in a toilet cubicle.
Donna sends Declan into the girls toilets, saying that Kate won't listen to any of them. Declan is unimpressed but does try and talk to Kate, who tells him to go away and that she's fine.
DECLAN: If you were find then we wouldn't be talking through a toilet door.
Declan persuades her to come out, and she does. She thinks she looks awful and Declan tells her she looks fine. He wants to know her revenge attack – sandwiches at Amanda? Kate doesn't think she can go back out there – Jason Coleman already thinks she's a loser. Declan reminds her how much hard work she's put into the deb, so she should go out there for herself because she deserves to enjoy it.
Back in the main hall...
Lucas finds Elle and asks her what's wrong. She wants to know if he's having any “difficulties” lately, but Lucas assures her he's fine and that the only way that it'll work is by trust. Elle looks unsure but agrees. Donna runs past them.
Back in the toilets...
Donna runs in and thanks Declan for getting her out. Declan leaves and Donna takes her scissors out – she's going to work some magic! She begins cutting up Kate's dress. With some minor alterations, Kate is ready to face the world! The bell goes for the first dance and Donna tells Kate to get out there.
Back in the hall...
Jason Coleman is giving a speech telling everyone that if they just relax then they'll realise why dancing is one of the most favourite art forms. The dancing begins and everyone is concentrating hard. Kate begins to panic – Jason's watching her! Amanda throws an insult Kate's way – is she wearing a towel?! Zeke compliments Sunny on her dancing.
Jason asks Declan if he can cut in and begins to dance with Kate. He tells her that he wished she'd fought for her place at the showcase. He really wanted her to come back and show him that he was wrong. Afterall, if she's put this deb together then she obviously has the passion and determination to be a dancer.
Zeke cuts the music and tells everyone that he thinks they need a change of pace. Amanda looks unimpressed. Toadie does some terrible and embarrassing dancing near Jason who ignores him. Zeke hits the lights and a spotlight falls on Kate who dances on her own in the middle of the room. It's pretty impressive and when she finishes everyone cheers her. Amanda looks unhappy.
Sunny tells her she was amazing – had she been practicing? Kate says she hadn't – that she just stopped thinking.
JASON: That's good Kate. You let yourself feel, you finally showed us the real you while you were dancing.
Kate agrees. Jason tells her to come back to his showcase in two weeks, and to not be late. Her and Sunny squeal. Hooray.
Elle wants to talk to Lucas somewhere quiet. They agree to find somewhere to talk, as Lucas has something he needs to say too. Libby asks to borrow Lucas for five minutes and he reluctantly goes.
Donna tells Elle that Kate was amazing. Elle is wolfing down a sandwich.
DONNA: Uh oh. You're stressed
DONNA: You eat when you get stressed.
Elle shows Donna the piece of paper – it's a withdrawal receipt.
LIBBY: [to Lucas] Oooh...Elle is going to lose it.
DONNA: [to Elle] You think he's gambling again?
Donna can't believe it and tells Elle that she needs him to be honest with her, just like she is completely honest with him. Elle agrees that yes, she is, mostly.
DONNA: Elle, you need to sort this out, now.
ELLE: I feel sick.
LUCAS: [to Libby] I feel sick.
LIBBY: Just get it over with.
Elle claims her boyfriend back from Libby. She wants Lucas to be completely honest with her. He gets down on one knee and pulls a ring from his sock.
LUCAS: Elle, I love you.
Elle requests going to somewhere more private, but Lucas says he's got to do this now. The whole room watches them.
LUCAS: I know it's only a small diamond, but I give it to you with all my heart. I know we've had our ups and downs, but they've just brought us to this beautiful place that we're at now. The last few weeks have been amazing. When we've got each other we don't need money. Will you do the honour of becoming my wife?
Elle looks shocked.
LUCAS: This is the bit where you say yes.
Elle walks off, leaving Lucas standing there alone with a room of people looking at him.
(Lucas and Toadie)
LUCAS: I thought she'd want to marry me.
(Elle and Lucas)
ELLE: Lucas, I sold the house back to dad.
LUCAS: So you lied to pump up my ego?
(Elle and Dan)
ELLE: So you're saying we shouldn't get married? Shouldn't you be happy that he's finally sorting himself out?
DAN: IF he is sorting himself out.
(Lucas and Paul)
PAUL: If you genuinely love my daughter you wouldn't be doing this. You're holding her back!
(Elle and Paul)
ELLE: He gave the impression that I still have doubts.
PAUL: And do you?
(Elle and Lucas)
LUCAS: Thank you for finally being honest with me.
(Dan and Toadie)
DAN: If she's got doubts then maybe she should back off.
(Elle and Paul)
ELLE: He might not be perfect, but he's perfect for me.
(Dan and Paul)
PAUL: What do you know that I don't?
