Recap
Lyn telling Rebecca and Karl about Steph buying #26
Paul paying Lyn off
Donna showing James off to 'the gang'
James agreeing to undergo a DNA test to prove he's Donna's brother
Harold's Store
The test results are back and its inconclusive as to whether James and Donna are related or not... but equally not enough to disprove that they are related. James mentions that there are more tests they can do to but it comes at a price...at least $8k! "Lets do it" is Donna's reply because she really wants to know and tells James to organise it and she'll come up with her half of the costs.
JAMES: Where are you going to get four grand?
DONNA: Just let me worry about that. We need to know.
JAMES: Yes, I guess we do.
Number 22
Elle wonders why Donna is sorting through her belongings when she comes downstairs. Donna doesn't give the real reason why although she does let Elle know that the DNA test was inconclusive.
Number 30
Callum and Ben explain to Libby why they've cooked breakfast - they forgot to buy fathers day pressies for their respective Dads so decided to make brekkie instead... even if it is a bit unusual!
DAN: So, this looks interesting.
TOADIE: Smells interesting.
LUCAS: What is it?
CALLUM: Its eggs... on toast.
DAN: With sauce.
TOADIE: And maple syrup.
DAN: Oh yes, lots of maple syrup.
BEN AND CALLUM: Happy Fathers Day.
After looking at the brekkie, Lucas wonders if it's actually meant to be 'get even with dad' day! Toadie chastises him because the boys have done their best. Lucas leaves and the 'dads' sit down at the table and begin to eat. It sounds rather crunchy and Callum stops them, trying to pass it off as a prank, their real pressies are to come once they collect them from #28.
Number 28
The two youngsters arrive to collect their non-existent pressies and explain their predicament to Susan when she wonders why they are so glum. Susan thinks they did good and is just about to give them some money to go and buy something when Karl appears from the bedroom (he's wondering where his fathers day brekkie is) and grabs the $50 note saying they should have saved up the money. Susan looks like she is ready to kill him as he tells the boys off because she wants them to head back to the bedroom for brekkie.
KARL: Boys, this is your lucky day.
Ramsay Street
Karl's plan is to have the boys earn the money and they begin by weeding the garden.
Meanwhile, outside #22 Donna fails in trying to sell Amanda her hair straighteners over the phone so tries instead to tempt Kate when she spots the Ramsay's leaving their house. The Ramsay's reject her offer and likewise Libby does too as she heads over to check on the boys.
The boys explain to Lib what they're doing but she points out that Dan and Toadie don't need expensive pressies, cleaning up the kitchen will do!
Steph interrupts their chat to ask if Libby has seen Lyn, she hasn't, so Steph takes off to continue to look but she's got Libby worried and Lib follows her.
Number 32
Libby is congratulating Steph on buying #26 and asks about sharing with Lyn again. Steph replies that might not be the case as Lyn has taken off and she isn't answering her phone. Libby then spots a note that Steph missed, and Steph reads aloud the note Lyn left.
Gone to the farm. I felt like seeing dad and Oscar.
Lib tries to suggest she's gone there for Father's Day but Steph questions the timing of it, concluding that it doesn't make sense.
Harold's Store
James compliments Elle on her coffee making skills and finds out that she isn't an employee but owns the place as well as being a journalist albeit in-between jobs.
Lucas enters the store and isn't amused at the two of them talking (about the DNA test). He confronts James when they finish chatting and James accuses him of being jealous. Lucas laughs it off but he then grabs James by his lapels when he taunts Lucas by telling him that he thinks Elle is ready to move on.
LUCAS: You'd better watch yourself because Elle and Donna have got a lot of friends around here so if you're not on the level.
JAMES: Let go of the shirt mate... right now.
Lucas releases him but gently slaps his face a couple of times before walking off.
Number 22
Nobody is after Donna's goods online either, so she heads off telling Lucas and Elle to "argue in peace" when they enter the house. Lucas is suss about James but Elle too puts this down to him being jealous, which Lucas totally denies. He tries to tell Elle that he is concerned about Donna and asks that she makes sure Donna is careful before leaving.
Lassiters Complex
Donna has decided on a garage sale to flog her belongings but trade is extremely slow. She then faces competition when Ben and Callum do a break dancing routine to raise money as they are fed up with gardening. The boys are taking the money in so Donna tries to attract the crowd's attention with a cheer leading routine. This works and the extras head over to look at her stuff.
CALLUM: Thanks a lot crowd killer!
DONNA: Yes you started it pint size.
Harold's Store
An exasperated Steph leaves another voicemail message for her mum having failed to talk to her again. Libby thinks she's just somewhere that doesn't have mobile coverage.
Steph asks Elle if she knows anything about Lyn taking off when she stocks up the fridges. Elle is none the wiser but does add that she's not surprised that Lyn took off, she got what she came for. This comment puzzles Steph and Elle tells Steph about Paul paying Lyn off and isn't surprised he did that "to get rid of a problem like her". Libby tries to say that Elle is wrong and Steph hopes so to especially after what she's done for Lyn.
Lassiters Complex
Donna tries to convince herself that "its only stuff" as she continues to sell her belongings.
Meanwhile the boys wonder what they're going to do with their $13.20...and a Euro! Karl and Susan spot the boys and again takes pity on then, giving the boys $20 despite Karl moaning at her for doing so.
The boys are happy that their fund is now bigger and decide to tell the passing Sophie and Harry about it. She announces that Father's Day is dumb and stupid, which causes Ben to have a sudden case of foot in mouth disease when he blurts out that she is only saying that because she doesn't have a dad. "Shut up yourself" is her reply to that before running off.
James spots Donna's stall and finds out the reason behind it. He is about to say something but she stops him, telling him to worry about getting his $4k. "Okay" he replies before telling her that he's booked the test - they just have to pay for it. Donna plays it very cool and puts on a false façade by telling him she's well on her way to getting the money but when he leaves and we see inside her money box she is well short of her total.
Charlie's
We return after the break to hear how much Donna has made - $250. "That's alright for a heap of old junk" Elle comments before Donna asks Elle for $4k. "That's a lot of money" is Elle's first instinct before she tries to talk Donna out of going for the tests in case she ends up with nothing.
DONNA: Nothing is what I've got now.
Number 30
Toadie returns from walking Rocky annoyed that he can't get into the house for Lucas' laundry. Dan takes sympathy on his bother and promises to sort it. Toadie takes this to mean Dan is taking Lucas' side, which he denies with Dan replying that Lucas has an important meeting to attend.
Libby walks the boys into the kitchen to hear Dan tell them that they know all about their busking and that it wasn't necessary. Toadie backs him up by adding that they don't need pressies.
BEN: Good, 'cos we decided to spend the money on someone else.
CALLUM: We need your help.
Ramsay Street
The boys lead Sophie into the street, still protesting that she doesn't want to play their stupid game but when they get to the street properly, we can see in fact it isn't a game but...
BEN: The Ramsay Street family day barbeque.
CALLUM: Yes, it's for dads, mums, kids and even dogs! No-one gets left out.
Ben and Sophie apologise for what they said before Sophie goes over to thank Toadie and Libby. Libby replies that it was all down to the boys' so she heads back over to them.
SOPHIE: Thank you.
BEN: You're not going to hug us are you?
Sophie then holds out her arms and the boys immediately run away with Sophie following them.
Libby goes over to Steph to ask if she's called Lyn again and Steph replies that she has along with a million messages! She tries again to reassure Steph that she'll reappear soon with a simple reason behind it.
STEPH: There better be 'cos if I tell you what, if she's left and taken that money, that's it, I never want to see her again.
Number 22
Elle and Donna apologise to each other before Donna lets James into the house - he wants her to leave a message for Aunt Wendy because James thinks she looks and sounds like her daughter Vicky. An excited Donna leaves a message and Elle decides to leave them to it.
Donna tries to talk to James about the money but he is so excited at wanting confirmation they are related so he can show her off to the rest of his family, so she chickens out of saying what she really wanted to, instead asking if an electronic transfer of money will be okay. He's fine with that so Donna gets the necessary details from him.
Final commercial break over and Donna sits at Elle's laptop trying to suss out her password for her internet banking. Eventually she gets it right and gets into Elle's account where she transfers over $4000 to James' account.
