- Paul deciding to have a 'Page 3 girl' in the paper
- Paul receiving a raunchy photo of Kelly
- Callum getting in trouble for emailing the pic
- Didge and Declan fighting
- Declan angrily driving off
- Didge confessing to her parents she's pregnant
We start off on roof-cam as Didge is wheeled into the hospital with Miranda and Steve by her side. Miranda holds her daughter's hand but no one says anything.
Rushing into #24, Rebecca tries to call Declan (who has stopped to change a tyre), but gets his voicemail. She leaves him a message saying that Bridget's in hospital and she needs him to come home. Getting back into the car, Declan ignores the message and starts up the engine but it stalls on him.
Waiting in the corridor, Steve wonders what they're going to do but Miranda's more concerned about the fact that Didge didn't confide in them. Rebecca arrives and promptly puts her foot in it by revealing that she already knew about the pregnancy. Hurt, Miranda tells Rebecca to leave them alone.
In the hospital room, Karl tells Didge that there's nothing wrong with her pregnancy. The pain is more than likely just stress related. He moves to call Steve and Miranda in but Didge stops him - she doesn't want to see them.
Lou's looking after Mickey, who is wondering what's wrong with Didge. The baby-talk starts up ("she's just got a tummy ache"), but Mickey has bought a clue for once in his life and says Didge must be having a baby. He heard it from Callum, who was eavesdropping on Ringo and Zeke.
LOU: Have you spoken to anyone else about this apart from Callum?
MICKEY: Don't knock it, but Callum really knows his stuff.
At the counter, Toadie is trying to stop Paul from publishing the picture of Kelly but Paul won't listen. Toadie resorts to begging - down on his knees and everything - he hasn't had a chance like this with a woman in a very long time! Not to mention the fact that Kelly is a good person. Paul surprises Toadie by agreeing not to publish the photo, but you just know that he's still up to no good.
Steve and Miranda harass Nurse Jodie, who won't let them see Didge till the doctor's examined her. The Parkers are surprised to see Karl (who else were you expecting dudes? Karl does everything here), who tells them that Didge is OK. But they soon turn on him as well when they discover that he already knew about the pregnancy too.
Miranda angrily barges into Didge's room against Karl's orders to find Didge hiding underneath the blankets. She eventually coaxes Didge out by telling her that they love her, but when Didge looks to her dad for reassurance he can't give it to her and walks out.
After fixing his car (over-heated jiggle-cap I'd say - or a busted shimmy wrench...), Declan gets out a map of Australia and randomly chooses a place to drive to. Hello Alice Springs, and hello a very long drive from Melbourne.
Steph gossips with Dan about Didge. Out of all of his students Dan never thought Didge would be the first one pregnant.
Toadie and Callum meet up with Kelly (who is wearing what I imagine the judge's robes would look like in Clown Court - as if the photo embarrassment wasn't enough). Callum's stoked because Kelly has been treating him nicely all day at school even after what he did, but his face falls when Kelly reveals that Toadie's dishing out a punishment at home. Kelly heads off to the loo.
TOADIE: If you think you're getting away with this scot-free then you is dreaming, kid.
CALLUM: (shrugging) I was young and confused... Sorry.
TOADIE: I know it must be weird having someone else around but I really like Kelly.
CALLUM: Like her? You can't keep your hands off her!
Toadie reassures Callum that there's room in his life for both him and Kelly, and now Callum has to think up an awesome way to apologise to her.
Lou and Mickey chat to Steve in the corridor, but Steve is more interested in having another go at Karl for not telling him about the pregnancy. Karl reminds him that as Didge's doctor he wasn't allowed to (insert obvious "Karl + patient confidentiality = potential minefield" comment here), but Steve just gets more aggro. Sensing trouble, Nurse Jodie calls in security.
STEVE: Who do you think you are? Doctor Cool? King of the kids? The man who lets his own daughter run off with her teacher?
KARL: Now, now, now - you have to go away and cool down.
STEVE: Why didn't you tell us?
KARL: Maybe the question is why didn't she tell you?
STEVE: Oh, what? You think I can't parent my own child? Who do you think you are, God?
Security arrives to haul Steve away but Karl stops them and says Mr Parker was just leaving.
Ext - Hospital
Karl finds Steve brooding outside. He's upset that Didge's life has come to a halt at 16. Karl reasons that Steve can stay outside and vent, or go inside to be with his daughter.
STEVE: I don't think I could face her to be honest.
KARL: Steve, Bridget needs her dad.
Karl lets him mull over this fact alone.
Karl's words have done the trick as Steve goes into Didge's room and hugs her, telling her he's sorry. They have a good old cry together.
Ramsay Street - Next Morning
Donna unwraps the paper and catches up with Ringo after his jog. They chat about Declan running away and Donna becomes concerned that Ringo might also go down the cheating route, but Ringo promises he's not like that.
DONNA: Yeah well even the ugly AFL players pull hotties! They'll be lining up for a cutie like you.
RINGO: You are the only girl I want.
Over the road at #30, Callum leads Toadie and Kelly out blindfolded to surprise them with a breakfast picnic (and a copy of the paper). It's his way of saying sorry.
Donna opens the paper to read her stars and Ringo's surprised to see that there's going to be a Page 3 girl.
DONNA: Call now for your updated predictions? That is such a con! Can I have your phone?
They wonder what kind of desperado poses for a Page 3 shoot - so they're quite stunned to see Kelly staring back at them. Donna and Ringo wonder if Kelly has seen it yet, and get their answer when they see Kelly sobbing into Toadie's arms
Karl spies Rebecca waiting with a bunch of flowers to see Didge. Rebecca reveals that she still hasn't heard from Declan and is half expecting another phone call from the police.
KARL: I don't think there's any reason to think the worst.
REBECCA: Oh really? Angry young men and cars, you don't think...?
Steve walks up and Rebecca braces herself for another fight with him, but Steve concedes that Didge put her in a tight spot and he doesn't blame Rebecca for not saying anything. He thanks her for supporting Didge when she needed it. Miranda, however, is not so forgiving and coldly brushes aside Rebecca's apology when she emerges from Didge's room. She then rudely tells her to stay away from her family, leaving Rebecca feeling quite hurt.
Ringo has invited Donna over, but she won't shut up and let him speak.
DONNA: So I called that number about my star sign predictions - it was total rubbish. I got some 300-year-old witch going on about runes or something.
RINGO: Come inside.
DONNA: I mean what the hell is a rune anyway?
She soon stops yapping when Ringo presents her with a bunch of pink and purple balloons.
DONNA: Aww! I heart balloons!
Ringo then shows her that he's filled the whole lounge room with them. He explains that it's a "Donna-fest" to show her how much he cares about her, and that he won't ever run off with a footy groupie. But the balloons are only the icing on the cake - he then gives her a friendship ring, which she thinks is the bomb.
Toadie informs Paul that he's going to do everything in his power to shut the paper down, but Paul isn't exactly shaking in his loafers. He reminds Toadie he received the picture from Kelly's own email, and that their chat in the GS wasn't formal. Callum angrily leaps up to give Paul a nipple cripple, but Toadie tells him to wait in the office. Kelly arrives and also wants to do damage to Paul, but Toadie says he's not worth it. Paul leaves and Kelly becomes quite distraught, letting Toadie know that she's been suspended from school.
Steve silently watches from afar as Rebecca leaves another message on Declan's phone, telling him to call back so she can hear his voice. Steve then joins Miranda in Didge's room, who is sitting by Didge's bedside while she sleeps.
Declan gets more and more sleepy, veering off the road towards some trees. He jolts awake just in time to swerve away from real danger but still skids into the scrub, getting his car bogged.
Out in the corridor Steve wonders how they're going to get Didge through this. Miranda replies that they're just going to have to find a way.
MIRANDA: Tell me what you're thinking.
STEVE: We're just going to have to be prepared to accept whatever choice she makes.
MIRANDA: We'll talk about that later.
They go in to see Didge, who isn't all that surprised that no one has heard from Declan. She knows him too well, and this is exactly what he does when things get too tough.
MIRANDA: Maybe it's time to think about this in a more positive way. You're about to go through an extraordinary experience.
DIDGE: What about uni? What about me being a doctor?
MIRANDA: We'll help, we'll be there every step of the way. Nothing's impossible.
DIDGE: I just can't see it.
MIRANDA: Don't you make any decisions.
DIDGE: I already have. I'm just not ready.
