Erinsborough Hospital
Rosie and Frazer look like an 12 tonne rock has just hit them smack in the heart.
ROSIE: My baby's heart has stopped beating?
OLENSKI: No, Rosie.
FRAZER: Is it the machine?
OLENSKI: I'm getting a good picture.
Rosie's voice wavers with emotion.
ROSIE: Can you look again, please?
The pair are confused - if there's no heartbeat then their baby's heart has stopped beating...
OLENSKI: I think it might be a false pregnancy.
ROSIE: This is not in my head!!! We had a positive test.
OLENSKI: Sometimes the body can trick itself; it's what we call a non-viable embryo.
Rosie insists that the doctor go get another machine or someone else who can do this properly because she knows she's pregnant - she's never been more sure of anything in her life.
Number 30
The rest of Ramsay Street are preparing a party for Rosie and Frazer, ready for when they come back from the hospital.
Marco comments to Steph that he saw her come in with Oliver and wants to know if they were talking about the liquor licence. She dismisses it.
Elle comments to Oliver and Becca that it's nice to forget about work for a while.
Declan thinks that the party sucks, and Ringo says he's offended - this is his family! He's about to be an Uncle.
DECLAN: Or an aunt.
Dec thinks they should bail and do some band practice, but his mum's listening in...
Libby is telling Dan that it's important she and Sam get along now that she's decided to stay. Dan tells her that actually he asked Sam to stay; Libby makes a quick exit, hurt and embarrassed.
Erinsborough Hospital
Behind the blinds in the waiting room, Rosie tells Frazer that Veronica Olenski is wrong - Rosie knows her body better than anyone else.
FRAZER: What if she's not wrong?
ROSIE: This is why I don't want you to speak right now, okay? Just stand there and be quiet.
FRAZER: We were both going to be parents, Rosie.
Rosie turns to Frazer - she doesn't know why this is happening. Heartbroken, Frazer puts his arms around his wife and holds her.
Number 30
Susan and Sam are talking about her staying in Erinsborough, and Dan comments that the house will be interesting to live in for the next few months. Susan says it's good practice if either of them ever want kids.
Declan watches his mum chatting, and tries to sidle out the house, but is caught by Ringo and Rach who think he should at least wait until Rosie and Frazer arrive. Becca wanders through the hall to the kitchen, so Declan slips out. Ringo follows him. Rachel leaves too...
Elle and Oliver are talking about his losing customers if Marco gets a liquor licence. Elle touches his arm, reminds him that you don't get many friends in life, and Riley looks on, jealously. Elle tells Oliver that there's no loyalty in business - so he should stay friends with Marco and Fraser over this.
Steph is waxing lyrical over what it's like to see your baby on the screen for the first time, and preps everyone to be ready for when they arrive home. She asks Libby how she is, and Libby says that if Sam wants to stay, then she'll make the effort. Lib even valiantly goes to speak to her.
Erinsborough Hospital
Veronica is explaining to Rosie and Frazer that fertilisation did occur, because there's something on the screen they can see - which is what fooled her body into believing she was pregnant. But for whatever reason, it hasn't developed.
Veronica tells them they need to remove the mass that is there, which reduces both Rosie and Frazer to tears. She reminds that they should give themselves time to recover, then try again for a baby in six months, as there's no reason this should cause future problems.
Rosie apologises to Frazer; he tells her there's nothing to be sorry about. Rosie refuses counselling - she didn't want a baby in the first place. She convinced herself it wasn't happening, and now this is the end result.
Frazer reaches out and takes her face in his hand.
FRAZER: Hey - this is not your fault.
Rosie know that he's trying to say the right things - but she can see it in his face. He tells her it's not true.
Number 30
Miranda, Steve and Rebecca are in the kitchen, Miranda is preparing food. Rebecca says she'll go get Declan, but Steve tells her he's in the garage with their band, practising. Rebecca is annoyed that Steve let Declan leave the party, but Steve says Declan's not his responsibility.
Rebecca and Steve argue about the way Rebecca has punished Declan, and Steve retorts that his kids aren't out on drinking binges.
REBECCA: Well at least I'm not desperately reliving my youth, by hanging around the band room, pretending to be king of the kids.
Miranda comes in - Rosie and Frazer have pulled up.
Ramsay Street
Rosie and Frazer pull up in their car, both tearful. Rosie says she needs a moment; Frazer tells her to take all the time she needs.
The Garage Band Room
The teen gang are rehearsing, and Ringo is showing Didge how to play the chords on the guitar again. Declan is playing too loud, and the gang are worried they'll get caught out. Rachel suggests they get back to the party before Rebecca realises that Declan has gone.
Dec says that his mum has a radar on him - she always knows where he is.
Zeke has been generating drum sounds on his computer, but it crashes - and Rachel returns to say that Rosie and Frazer are already outside the house.
Ramsay Street
Frazer opens the door for Rosie so she can get out the car.
Number 30
Everyone inside hides, ready to surprise the very unhappy couple.
Ramsay Street
Frazer and Rosie walk slowly in, and Rosie apologises - she needs some time alone to process things. Frazer suggests that she call her sister.
Number 30
Everyone waits and hides. Rosie and Frazer come in the door.
Oh, this is so bad. So bad.
They big SURPRISE happens, but Rosie and Frazer couldn't look any less happy. Sam and Steph at the front seem to realise they don't appear too cheerful, yet everyone else asks the questions - boy or girl? Details, please! Frazer is about to say something, but Rosie interrupts - she'll give them all the details later but just needs to change. Frazer goes after her.
And still, seemingly no-one except Oliver seems to have picked up on the fact that they could not look any less like a couple who have just seen a healthy, happy baby for the first time.
In the kitchen (why??? Anyone can walk in), Frazer apologises - he forgot their friends were doing this, and he'll ask them to leave. Rosie tells him to leave it. Steph and Elle come in, all excitable. Rosie can't look them in the eye, but says she needs to do some work in the kitchen.
Rosie tells Frazer that she doesn't want anyone knowing what happened today; she's barely getting through it as it is.
Frazer tries to talk to his wife but she brushes him off and tells him to go.
Frazer leaves, and Sam comes in, saying she's not fooled by Rosie's performance. Rosie tells her there won't be a baby.
Back in the hall, Oliver wants to talk to Frazer about business, but Frazer is just making a call and asks to talk later. He phones his mother, leaving a message asking her to call him back.
In the lounge, Steve comments to Becca that Declan hasn't arrived. She comments that Didge appears to be missing, too. Steve retorts that he doesn't have to watch his kids' every move. Becca and Steve get into a mild spat before Miranda interrupts, saying that Steve's dealing with some personal issues and so is determined to make everyone's life miserable.
REBECCA: Well, looks like Declan's not the only one grounded.
Miranda takes Steve to the hall, telling him that since he told Ned about their dad, he's let their kids run wild, whilst criticising Rebecca's parenting. Miranda asks her husband to recognise what this is about. Steve suggests that maybe he should lock his kids in the shed like his dad did with him.
In the kitchen, Sam and Rosie are talking. Sam is so sorry about the party, and Rosie says she doesn't want anyone knowing - she wants to forget it all. Sam imparts her own experience to Rosie - forgetting about the baby you're grieving for isn't a good idea.
ROSIE: I don't have to do it publicly with everyone involved.
SAM: You're going to have to tell them at some stage.
Rosie wonders how Sam survived it, and Sam says she has no idea.
Dan comes in, Rosie leaves to find Frazer. Sam tells Dan they lost the baby. Dan asks Sam how she is, and she says she is OK.
Back in the hall, Rosie and Frazer have agreed to tell their friends, and Miranda is pleased that Rosie wants to say a few words, so she gathers the masses. Rosie speaks tearfully.
ROSIE: I'm sorry that we've, er, kept to ourselves today. Erm...look, the truth is, Frazer and I really aren't in the mood. There's not going to be a baby. We know we'll have your support over the next few months but just for today I need to be alone.
Rosie runs off and, upset, Frazer runs after her. Oliver grabs Frazer on the way out and tells him that if he needs anything...
Miranda, Rebecca and Susan feel dreadful and agree that Rosie will get all the support she needs over the next few months. Sam asks everyone in the room to help clear up the house and the Ramsay Street Residents get to it.
The Garage Band Room
Declan is playing the guitar, with is mates telling him to stop NOW, because Rebecca is standing there. She fronts Declan, looking furious. He starts to explain, saying the party was boring - but Becca throws her arms around him and hugs him tightly.
DECLAN: So I'm not in trouble?
REBECCA: Of course you are in trouble. Now will you please go home and at least try and act like you are grounded?
Riley apologises to Rebecca for his dad's behaviour.
Ringo wonders why the party ended so early, and Riley tells him to go home and speak to his brother.
Number 30
Dan compliments Sam on her handling of things today, and she says that as long as Rosie keeps talking, she might be okay. Dan wonders if that would have worked for them. They share a kiss on the sofa.
In the kitchen Ringo sits with Frazer, wondering if there's anything he can do. Frazer tells him to watch out for Rosie, and be on his best behaviour. Frazer's not sure how Rosie's coping. Ringo asks how his brother is feeling, but he doesn't really know. He was so looking forward to being a dad, but Rosie's blaming herself and he doesn't know what to say to convince her.
Ringo puts his hand on his brother's shoulder.
In the lounge, Rosie looks at the cot and baby things all packed up. She's crying. Frazer walks up behind her.
ROSIE: I'm sorry. I know how much you wanted this.
FRAZER: You have *nothing* to be sorry about.
ROSIE: At the beginning, the things I was thinking, Fraze...
FRAZER: Don't, Rosie...
ROSIE: ...my body knew.
He makes her turn to him and puts his face right in hers.
FRAZER: No-one's done anything. Okay? No-one is to blame for this. I know that what happened is going to be hard, it's going to be hard to get over. But we will still have each other.
ROSIE: (whispering) Why would you want me after this?
FRAZER: (desperately) I love you. I love you...
Rosie takes his hands from her shoulders.
ROSIE: I never wanted this baby. And now we're being punished for that. I'm sorry.
She walks off, leaving Frazer in tears against the wall.
