- Janae telling Darren that Kirsten might have seen them kiss
- Ringo shocked to learn that Jessica died
- Zeke angry with Karl for choosing Libby over him
Susan, Rachel and Darren wait anxiously on the sidelines for any news.
Janae receives another text message from super-smug Kirsten.
Steph and Toadie arrive and are shocked to learn that Libby, Karl and Zeke are still trapped inside. Susan, Rachel and Darren all rush over to the building when they notice a commotion, but Dan informs them that the SES team are just clearing the site until it's safe to return. They start to make a fuss till Dan sternly tells them to head back behind the safety line.
Zeke is worried that the rescue team have forgotten them because he can't hear any more noise, but Karl can clearly hear something as he quickly shushes Zeke and strains his ears. He desperately calls out for Libby but, of course, gets no answer. Zeke manages to find a tiny crawl space and starts to wiggle his way out (Fletch nearly tells him to “head towards the light” instead of “the daylight”, which could have crushed poor Zeke's frail ego completely – ‘You're leaving me to die AGAIN?!').
We learn from Rebecca and Declan's chat that Elle has had a tube put into her chest to help her breathe. Paul charges up to the Head of Thoracic Surgery (Dr. Brittain) for an update. But even though Dr. B reveals that Elle has internal bleeding and a collapsed lung, it's still not apparently enough to get her into surgery ASAP. Paul is appalled and wants Dr. B to operate right now, but Dr. B pretty much ignores him.
Zeke stops crawling half way and goes back to help Karl (who has been desolately calling out to Libby for a response). Using his inner X-Men powers that he has obviously kept hidden all this time, Zeke “Muscles” Kinski single-handedly uses a stray pipe to lift up a beam and allow Karl to wriggle his way to the other side. Karl attempts a celebratory hug with Zeke, but Zeke is quite detached and suggests they keep on truckin'.
Janae sombrely tells Valda that Karl, Libby and Zeke are still trapped before taking Kirsten aside for a private chat. Kirsten gleefully informs Janae that she saw the kiss – she doesn't know who it was with, but she *does* know it wasn't Ned. Janae urgently says that it meant nothing and wants to know if she'll blab. Kirsten, clearly enjoying her power trip, replies that if Janae doesn't tell Ned the truth – she will.
Karl and Zeke stumble out of the warehouse as the family rush over in relief. Rachel hugs the life out of her brother as Karl does an about face to go back inside and save Libby – but SES commander Dan won't allow it. Anxious, Karl instructs him on Libby's precise location and Dan heads back inside to complete his 400th solo rescue of the day. Rachel reluctantly tells Zeke that everyone got out except for Jessica, before trapping him in another hug.
An ambulance officer tends to Zeke just as Dan heroically staggers out of the warehouse with Libby in his arms. Susan, Karl and Darren race over to see her, and all try to get her out of his arms at the same time (I *really* hope she doesn't have a neck injury because they all just jiggled the life out of her). Darren cradles Libby's head in his lap and she opens her eyes to smile up at him. Zeke looks over at them and appears left out and lost.
Hospital – Libby's Room
The nurse tells Libby and Darren that if the dust inhalation Libby suffered worsens in the next few days, then she's to come back to the hospital. Libby exclaims that she feels like someone whacked her with a cricket bat. The nurse leaves and Darren tells Lib that he made a promise when he thought she was lost – if she got out he'd do anything she wanted to make their relationship work. Kissing him, Libby says there's going to be no more doubts between them.
Hospital – Corridor
Taylah is leaving another sad message on her dad's phone for him to come pick her up. Please tell me he's not putting his newspaper before his own daughter's welfare? Thankfully Zeke appears to make her feel wanted, and the rest of the teens re-group together. Rachel apologizes to Bridget for breaking the #1 friendship code – don't abandon your mate at a party. Ringo and Declan join them and Rachel asks Ringo how he's coping, but he can only muster a half-hearted nod. Down, Zeke says he feels responsible because he's the one who wanted everyone to come to the party.
DECLAN: (reassuring him) Hey, we're all here aren't we?
RINGO: (sombre) Not all of us.
Janae rushes out when she sees Darren pull up and tells him that Kirsten knows about them. Aghast, Darren says that he needs Janae to put a stop to it and make Kirsten see sense – he can't lose Libby again.
Look, I know the bar's named after him and all, but do you REALLY have to change his stinky nappy in the middle of it, Steph? Seriously, isn't that breaching an OHS rule somewhere? Not to mention the fact that the smell would be wafting from near the kitchen and the patrons would have to wonder what hell kind of meal they're in for.
Janae purposefully strides in and tries to make Kirsten see that sense thing Darren was talking about, but Kirsten has no concept of being a good sport. The only sport she likes is where she gets to hunt Janae and back her into a corner. It seems that if Janae wants Kirsten's silence she's going to have to give her reason not to change her mind.
Paul gets aggro with Dr. B after Elle's surgery is put off another time, but Dr. B just threatens to throw Paul out if he continues to act up. Rebecca wanders off to get some food, leaving Declan to sympathise with Paul. He reckons that Paul won't get anywhere playing the hysterical parent routine – he's got to think cool and play it cool.
DECLAN: Didn't you used to be the kind of guy that knew all that?
Paul's face is like, ‘By gum, I think you're on to something!'
Susan crosses paths with Darren, who is on his way back to the hospital with Libby's overnight bag. Rachel and Zeke mope on the couch. Zeke morosely ponders over the thought that Jessica would have had no idea she wouldn't be returning home after the party. He looks up at the painting of the Kennedy kids over the fireplace – with Zeke's feelings of abandonment, he didn't quite return “home” either in a way. Karl and Susan huddle in the kitchen. Karl wants to address the kids on how disappointed he and Susan are that they broke the rules, but Susan tells him to leave them be. Right now they're just incredibly lucky to have everyone in their family safe and sound.
Showdown #3 between Paul and Dr. B, but this time Paul has the upper hand. Displaying a side of himself that has been buried for a while, Paul calmly but firmly informs the doctor that his Aunt Rosemary is a major benefactor of the hospital and can only imagine how the board would react if they knew how Elle was being treated. Getting the drift, Dr. B says he'll step up Elle's surgery. Rebecca doesn't look too happy with Paul's methods, but Declan does, and so does Paul.
Ringo lies on his bed and sadly looks at a picture of himself and Jess taken on his phone. He tries not to cry.
Mickey gives Bridget a card he made for her but Ned quickly gets rid of him when he starts asking about ‘Bridget's friend that died'.
In the kitchen, Miranda and Steve discuss how upset they are that Bridget lied to them about the party. Riley grabs his keys off the fridge and heads off to the hospital to see Elle.
Kirsten arrives and tells Ned and Janae that she's booked a holiday to Queensland for herself and Mickey. Ned's annoyed because he'd already made plans to go camping with his son, but since Janae is now under the power of the moll patrol, she grudgingly takes Kirsten's side and says Mickey should be with his mum.
Close-ups of Janae and Kirsten's face reveal them to be in a stare-off with one another while Ned's out of the room. You can almost hear the Western music in the background. They start to snipe at one another but Ned catches them in the act.
NED: (confused) Janae what's the problem?
JANAE: (pauses before deciding to confess) I kissed someone else.
NED: *puts on his shocked face, which looks remarkably like his confused face... and his happy face... and his angry face... and his...*
