Recap
- Zeke asks Elle for a job at the hotel to impress Lolly.
- Rachel is shocked to hear Ringo is 17 not 16.
- Elle warns Oliver to tell Carmella about the kiss.
Robinson's Doorway
Oliver is about to knock on the door but decides against it. However Elle opens the door to leave and finds him standing there. He informs her that he was about to leave, but just wanted to check that she was ok. She tells him he is so he heads off.
Number 30
Pepper has been researching for the wedding, and reckons it's all about location.
PEPPER: So, how do you guys feel about submarines?
Rosie just laughs as Frazer goes to ask Oliver to be his best man at the wedding. Oliver agrees, but has to dash out. Frazer reckons he's just off to work, but the girls think otherwise; they reckon he's off to the hospital. Pepper informs Frazer that Oliver kissed Elle and although Carmella claims to be fine with it, they don't believe her so they're still not talking to him.
General Store
As Lolly puts the last of Zeke uniform together for him, she comments that he looks hot.
RACHEL: He looks like a midget chauffer
Zeke heads off to start his job, and Lolly calls him a spunk as he walks out the door. Rachel points out that Bree doesn't like her calling him that, but Lolly points out Bree isn't about. Zeke returns to hear Rachel telling Lolly that he has a massive crush on him.
LOLLY: He does not
RACHEL: Look, he's going to be really upset when he realises that you're only doing this to be nice.
LOLLY: He's like a little brother, or one of the girls or something. It's obvious I'm not serious.
RACHEL: Not to him.
Zeke comes out from hiding behind the door to grab his work card, and storms back out the door. The girls wonder how much he overheard.
Carmella and Ringo arrive. Ringo comes over to see Rachel, so Lolly leaves them to it. He gives her another cuddly toy to say sorry for the way he treated her. He doesn't think she's a baby, just another friend for Crispy. Ringo admits he wasn't putting on the act at the end, and felt he'd really grown into the role of the sensitive guy. They kiss and make up.
RINGO: Just when I thought my day couldn't get any better.
RACHEL: Why, what else is going on?
RINGO: Frazer is going to ask me to be his best man. I can just feel it.
Number 30
Back at Number 30, Ringo starts writing his best mans speech. As he writes his speech, he is busy imagining him, Rachel, Frazer and Rosie standing in the rotunda dressed for the wedding as he gives the speech.
"Frazer calls himself a professional gambler, and for good reason. A professional gambler is one who wins more often than they loose, and the reason that they win, is because of sound judgement, and wisdom. They know what to pick..."
Deciding pick is the wrong word he continues.
"He knows what to back. The right horse; the right friends; and the perfect bride. He's the type of man I hope to be one day. Frazer, you are an inspiration to me. Congratulations"
In the dream, Frazer thanks him, and informs him that it was a very moving speech. Rosie also thanks him.
Kennedys
Pepper arrives to find Karl digging into a bagel. She tells him to spit it out and get his runners; he does as he's told but doesn't look too impressed.
Pepper starts talking to Susan about how fabulous the date went the previous night. Wittering on, Karl returns, so she asks him for Davo's number. Karl suggests that it might be better to wait and let him contact her though as he's an old fashioned kind of guy. Pepper makes sure that Karl has all her numbers and ends up leaving, without going on the run.
Susan wonders why Karl didn't give Pepper, Davo's number.
KARL: It would appear Davo has a 'thing' for my older sister!
Erinsborough Hospital
Oliver arrives to find Elle tending to Paul. She asks why he isn't with Carmella, but he informs her that she isn't back until later. He offers to go and pick her up some breakfast.
Out in the corridor, Oliver bumps into Rosie. He reckons she's there to check up on him, but she claims she's come to visit a client; a nameless victim. He asks why she can't accept the fact that he's come to support Elle as a friend. He believes that Carmella would be doing the same, but Rosie isn't so convinced.
OLIVER: What I believe is none of your business.
ROSIE: Apparently you are unfamiliar with the Cammeniti loyalty programme. I will not stand by and let you hurt my sister.
Lawyers Office
Ringo and Frazer are busy making the world's longest paperclip chain whilst waiting for Rosie. Ringo was under the impression that Frazer had asked him there to ask him to be best man. Frazer is surprised at his brothers thought and apologises that he asked Oliver that morning, but he would like him to be head groomsman.
RINGO: Does that even exist?
FRAZER: Mate, totally, and it's a massive job as well. There's um...suits to organise and stuff, and um...and moral support.
Ringo sees it more as being second best man, but Frazer tells him he won't be able to do the wedding without him. Ringo seems to understand as Rosie arrives through the door, unimpressed with the paperclip chain. As Rosie heads into her office, Ringo leaves them to it.
Rosie tells Frazer that she reckons Ringo would make a better best man than Oliver after the way he's been treating Carmella. Frazer is annoyed to hear that she went to the hospital to check up on him. At that moment, Carmella arrives wondering if either of them have seen Oliver as she can't get hold of him on the phone. Rosie tells her sister she hasn't seen him, but to send their wishes to Elle.
Erinsborough Hospital
Oliver arrives back from the Café with the coffees as Elle tells him that the doctors have been to visit Paul. They have seen signs of increased brain activity, which means things are looking up, but they need to keep talking to him. Carmella arrives in time to see them hug and head into Paul's room. She gives the balloons she's brought to the nurse.
Kennedys
Susan wonders if she should go and tell Pepper the truth to put her out of her misery, but Karl reckons there's no need. Rachel starts teasing Karl about the fact his boss has a crush on Susan.
SUSAN: Oh, look, I'm sure he's not really in love with me; it's probably just an incredible physical attraction
RACHEL: He thinks you are a promiscuous mother of five kids, it must be love.
KARL (scoffing): Davo just likes a challenge, that's all.
RACHEL: Are you saying Susan isn't loveable Karl? Is that it?
KARL: No, no, no. I'm not saying that at all.
RACHEL: I'd watch your back if I were you K-man. I reckon Davo's in with a chance.
SUSAN: Well he's certainly got a bit more hair.
KARL: Yeah, if delusional desperado's are your cup of chi
SUSAN: Delusional?
KARL: Deluded... in the sense that. He's deluded if he thinks he's got a chance with a beautiful and sophisticated, intelligent woman like yourself.
SUSAN and RACHEL (nodding): Yeah, yeah, pretty good save.
Number 30
Ringo arrives home just as Carmella is about to start talking to the cat. However Rachel arrives and Ringo tells her it was a disaster talking to Frazer. He explains how Frazer wants him to be head groomsman, with Oliver as best man. Rachel points out that he can enjoy himself on the day, and doesn't have to write a speech. Ringo doesn't see it as such a good point and reckons he could've handled the responsibilities. As Rachel heads off he takes the speech he wrote and throws it in the bin.
General Store
Pepper is busy phone watching when Susan arrives. She mentions it might be a better idea if Davo doesn't contact her as he was a bit sleazy the other night. Pepper is confused as to why her view on him has changed so quickly and reckons it's because she is jealous. Susan reveals that it's actually her that Davo is interested in, not Pepper.
PEPPER: You're not kidding! But you're old enough to be his mother and look at me.
SUSAN: You should probably stop there, while you've still got a job.
PEPPER: I probably shouldn't be surprised. The world is full of sickos. Probably one of those weirdos that goes to those parties in the suburbs.
SUSAN: Probably. I really am sorry.
PEPPER: Oh don't be. If he's into mumsy love, I don't want him.
SUSAN (through clenched teeth): That's the spirit.
Number 30
Carmella is pleased to see Oliver home. He admits he's been at the hospital with Elle, and thanks her for the balloons she dropped off. Carmella is keen to show him the new produce samples she's picked up but he has to dash to meet Frazer to discuss the buck's night.
Rosie asks Carmella if she really knows what went on a the hospital between Oliver and Elle. Carmella is adamant that they are just friends, but Rosie advises her to sort it once and for all, or she'll regret it.
Kennedys
Ringo, Rachel and Lolly watch on as Zeke uses some of Karl's weights. Karl comes through and warns Zeke not to use them without him. Rachel teases Zeke as he puts the weights down and runs off, followed by Karl. Ringo comments that Rachel was a bit mean, but she claims as older sister, she's entitled to it. Lolly wonders if maybe he overheard them talking at the General Store.
RINGO: How bad was it?
RACHEL: Pretty bad!
Back Garden
Zeke is annoyed that Lolly isn't impressed by him, and would rather look at some meat-head in year twelve on the footy team. Karl reminds him that she looks at the meat-head, but listens to him, and that's what matters.
KARL: You shouldn't worry about this sort of stuff mate. It'll happen when it's meant to, you'll find the right girl.
ZEKE: Yeah, right before I turn 100.
KARL: Oh come on! You're going to be tall and handsome, just like your dad.
Karl points out he has genetics on his side, but he'll help him out by going on a run with him. As Karl goes to get his runners, Rachel arrives. She asks if they overheard the conversation she had with Lolly. Zeke reveals he did, but wasn't impressed, and tells her to butt out.
Number 30
Pepper returns from her counselling session a bit teary. Rosie offers her a hug, but Pepper spots the bridesmaid dress. Looking at it, she admits the dress is fine, but the counsellor told her that she won't be able to find a guy because she worships her dad too much.
ROSIE: I'm sure the right tough guy will come along eventually
PEPPER: What, someone more macho than my dad? Are you crazy?
Scarlet Bar
OLIVER: No strippers? What's the point?
Frazer points out that he's after just a quiet night with a few mates and some beers. Oliver asks if they can still tell the girls their having strippers, to freak them out. Frazer wonders how Carmella will take the news, but Oliver doesn't see it as a problem. Oliver seems annoyed though that Rosie keeps taking an interest. Frazer points out that he has been spending time with Elle that he could be spending with Carmella, and warns him to be careful.
Carmella arrives, so Frazer leaves them to it. She admits she's not fine with him seeing Elle all the time, and doesn't want him to visit her at the hospital anymore. Oliver comments that Elle shouldn't be alone at the moment, but Carmella tells him she won't be.
Hospital - Paul's Room
As Elle sits on Paul's bed, Carmella arrives. Elle thanks her for coming back, under the impression that it is Oliver. Carmella speaks, causing Elle to jump in surprise. Carmella hopes she wasn't too much of a disappointment.
Carmella asks that Elle leans on her for support from now on, not Oliver. Elle apologises for being so selfish, but Carmella stands by her promise to help her. Elle agrees not to see Oliver anymore, and although Carmella offers to stay, Elle tells her she'll be fine on her own.
Returning to her father's bedside, Elle is surprised when his hand moves. She heads out to call the nurse, and is shocked when Paul doesn't recognise her, asking who she is.
