Recap
Dylan proposing to Sky
Loris reveals that her husband has left her
Ned and Carmella kiss
No. 30's backyard
Carmella and Ned are still at it with the kissing until Carmella pulls away saying they shouldn't be doing what they're doing. Ned says it won't happen again, but it turns out he's got the wrong end of the stick, because what Carmella really meant was that they should continue the Kissage™ inside, not dropping it altogether. She takes his hand and starts pulling him towards the bedroom.
Scarlet Bar
Sky is outlining her plans for the wedding to a not very enthusiastic Janelle, Lou, Harold and Bree. Apparently it will all be in Ancient Greek style. Hmm, I'm not sure that's the way to go for the wedding. Janelle is of the same opinion:
JANELLE: Geez, give me nice smooth plaster board over some old building that's falling down.
Sky and Bree love it though, Bree's even going to wear a toga! Riiiight. Janelle puts her foot down though and tells her daughter that she'll be wearing ugly clothes just like the bride would want. Harry opposes that suggestion, but Janelle asks Lou to back her up and he does, because at the wedding no one's supposed to be look prettier than the bride.
Dylan appears and is not as excited as you'd expect when he finds out about Sky's plans for the wedding. Me thinks he hasn't exactly been very involved in this planning thing so far then. Harry wants to know if the young lovebirds have picked a minister for the ceremony yet, if not then he knows someone who can help them. Sky tells him to chill since the party planning comes first. Dylan excuses himself to get on with work and then Loris comes in instead, wanting a chat with Janelle.
LORIS: I was hoping you'd reconsider my offer.
JANELLE: Big, fat bribe, you mean.
Loris walks off to the other side of the room and Harry follows her.
Lou reminds Janelle of the fact that people can change over time and Sky adds her two cents by telling Janelle the story of her Mum Kerry and Kerry's estranged relationship to Harold.
JANELLE: They're father and daughter, that's normal. And Harold's not some sad, old cot case (?) that makes your skin crawl, is he?
LOU: You haven't seen him first thing in the morning, have you?
They all laugh and I'm realising that I'm actually warming to the thought of Lou and Janelle together. What's wrong with me?
SKY: Look, all I know is that my Mum let some stupid argument from when she was young stop her seeing her Dad for who he really is.
BREE: Yeah, Mum, what if Nan's really nice underneath?
JANELLE: What if she's worse?
Ah, Janelle, I love your optimism!
On the other side of the room Harry has brought out his special hipflask filled with Tazzle so that he and Loris can have a shot, but this time it's not just any old Tazzle, no, it's Tazzle Extra specially imported from Thailand! It's got more oomph than the normal Tazzle and this makes Loris think it's all worth the hardship of dropping by. She remarks how she noticed how Harry hasn't called her since last week, but before he has time to reply, Janelle interrupts to announce that she's going to accept the offer of staying at no. 26 after all, for the kids' sake. Loris gets to excited she pulls Janelle into a hug, no wait, two hugs actually and Janelle looks like she'd much rather be anywhere but in Loris's arms right now.
No. 30
Ned and Carmella enter the kitchen after what appears to have been a less successful attempt in the bedroom. Ned can tell Carmella's heart wasn't in it so he pulled away. I'm still trying to work out whether Ned even has a heart himself since he never actually shows any emotion. It seems we're meant to believe he actually does however since he explains to Carmella how he could grow to love her in time, but they should probably not be together right now. They agree to put things on hold for now, on the one condition that Carmella doesn't take too long to make up her mind about what she should be doing with her life.
Scarlet Bar
Katya's eager for something more to drink, but Dylan tells her the bar is closed. Ned enters and is surprised at the lack of action in the bar until he realises that it's much later than he thought it was. He asks Dylan for a beer, but gets the same response Katya did only moments earlier which Katya's quick to point out.
KATYA: I know how you feel. There was a huge crowd in here before, but they've all got peple to go home to unlike us nobodies.
Katya suggests they head into town for an all-nighter and Ned reluctantly decides to come along.
No. 30
Dylan is at the door wanting a chat with Carmella despite the fact that it's midnight. She lets him in and doesn't notice the door slamming shut behind Dylan and how this should wake up both Toadie, Boyd and Janae who would be fast asleep by now and we hear no noises made by them either. Maybe they're heavy sleepers then...or they're just not in this episode, either or. Once in the kitchen Dylan explains the situation with his and Sky's wedding and the civil service they've planned for. He's been considering having a church wedding, but there's a bit of a problem there- his only memories of church weddings are of him and Stingray being extremely bored at them! Carmella tells him it doesn't have to be like that and informs him that he can actually tell the priest what he wants to see at his wedding. That's all Dylan needed to know so he heads for the door. Before he leaves he tells Carmella that he thinks she's really good at her job so she shouldn't give it up.
Ramsay St
Ned and Katya are walking up Ramsay St as they arrive home from their night out on the town. Katya brings up the topic of Ned's mystery crush who can never become reality. Since that can't be then why doesn't he kiss her instead? EmotionlessNed™'s only response to this is to show no emotions. Geez, who'd have guessed? Katya tells him she's going home for a late night snack, something she'd prefer not to do alone and casually starts to walk up towards no. 28, still wearing Ned's super-sized suit jacket over her shoulders. Ned glances over towards no. 30 before looking over to no. 28, still displaying no emotions whatsoever so I have no idea what he's thinking.
No. 28
It turns out that Ned decided to go over to no. 28 after all despite the lack of evidence thereof on his face before the commercial break, because when we return he's sitting on the sofa with Katya's head on his lap. Ooh, this might actually seem romantic had it not been for the fact that these two characters have zero chemistry and they barely even knew each other until the previous scene.
Katya makes some suggestions to get Ned to spend the night, but he reminds her that he's got a client waiting for him in the morning for which he needs to bright and cheerful. Miss Kinski informs him that she can help with that and pulls his head down for a kiss. Ned pulls away after a few seconds saying he can't do it and gets ready to leave. Katya looks devastated so Ned goes back to her and gives her quite the goodnight kiss. This puts a smile on her face as he leaves.
No. 26- the next morning
Bree comes out of the bedroom only to find Anne sitting on the sofa in the lounge. Anne informs her that 'Mum' gave her a key to the house.
BREE: Mum?
ANNE: Janelle. My birth Mum. I'm allowed to call her that, you know.
Bree looks less than pleased and doesn't exactly feel better when Anne tells her she's been in the house since 7am. Anne wanted to arrive early so she could spend the whole day with the family. I can't make up my mind about whether this is kind of cute or really creepy. It turns out that Anne's Bree's real parents haven't even noticed she's been a lot happier lately so they don't know that Anne's over at the Timmins' place. Bree asks about the book Anne's reading and it's the Braille version of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, part 6 out of 9, and she's waiting to get her next part from the library.
BREE: Geez, [it] sucks being you.
ANNE: Not as much as it used to.
Anne makes a comment about how Bree seems to still be upset about 'the whole Zeke thing' and if it helps, she's decided to end things with Zeke. Wow, that's very generous of you Anne to end things with a boyfriend that isn't even yours. For some reason Bree now ducks outside for a bit and Dylan makes a quick stop in the kitchen in order to grab himself some coffee. He soon retreats to the bedroom again though and Janelle comes in instead. She spots Anne at the kitchen table reading her Harry Potter book.
JANELLE: Harry, ay? Bummer if you get crumbs in it you'd probably change the whole story!
Bree returns again and isn't exactly thrilled to find her mother cozying up to Anne at the table. Janelle picks up on the awkwardness and excuses herself to go have a shower.
No. 30
Ned and Katya exit the kitchen just as Carmella makes an entrance from the bedroom. Katya says she just came over to return Ned's phone which he left at her house the night before and she's also his next client for the day. She leaves by saying she's going to pick up Ned's mail for him. Maybe they decided that when they were doing the horizontal tango the night before. If they did the horizontal tango, I'm not sure which. It's impossible to tell from the context here since EmotionlessNed™ isn't sending off any signals indicating what happened at all.
Ned apologises to Carmella for Katya being there and she says it's fine.
CARMELLA: It's not like you're my boyfriend or anything.
She's still upset though, she wasn't expecting Ned to move on so quickly. He excuses himself by saying that he thought there was no point hanging on to Carmella since it was clear nothing could happen between them now.
Katya reappears with the mail and she asks Carmella if her surname is Cammeniti, if so then maybe she's related to one of the patients at the hospital, Teresa Cammeniti. As the good nurse she is who is following the KennedyProcedure™ of medicine she also manages to reveal a fair bit of Teresa's medical history without batting an eyelid. Aw, it seems as though Karl's standard practice has rubbed off a fair bit onto the young ones then. After a few seconds of Carmella crying she takes off to go visit her cousin in hospital. Katya then somehow manages to work out from Ned's emotionless face that Carmella's the one he's got feelings for and I wish she'd fill me in on how to do because I still have no idea what he's thinking and/or feeling.
No. 24
Sky and Bree are talking about Anne and Janelle. Bree says she wants to give them some space, so maybe she could stay at no. 24? Harold comes to pick up the dirty plates left behind on the sofa table after dinner and comments on how little Sky has eaten. Lou suggests it might be wedding jitters that's keeping her from eating. Sky asks if it's OK if Bree stays over for a bit, to help her with the wedding planning. Bree says she didn't have to do that.
SKY: Hey, I'm allowed to ask my bridesmate to stay over if I want.
LOU: Yeah, I can fix it with Janelle.
SKY: Ah, problem solved!
BREE: Did you say bridesmaid?
SKY: Bridesmate, it's a modern wedding, Bree. Non of that traditional stuff.
Bree is very pleased to be chosen. Aww.
Ramsay St
Harold and Lou are doing some gardening in one of the flowerbeds when they notice a taxi pulling up on the driveway at no. 26. They are discussing some bulbs that Lou was to plant a while back.
HAROLD: Are you sure you planted those bulbs? They should have been up weeks ago.
LOU: I did exactly as you said- six inches apart, two feet down.
HAROLD: No, six feet apart, two inches deep!
Hehe. That's as far as they get because next, Harry spots Loris who's just got out of the taxi and she's sending flirty looks and a wave his way so why would he care about flowers anymore.
Ned has seen Loris arrive too and walks up to her.
NED: Where are you going?
LLORIS: Not going, coming! I'm moving in!
NED: What does Janelle say about that?
LORIS: What's to say, I bought the house!
NED: Well, didn't you buy it for her?
LORIS: For my grandchildren.
She can't keep her hands off him so start fingering his jacket and then Katya playfully comes up to them and asks Loris to keep her hands off 'her man'. Things turn a bit awkward and it doesn't help when Katya tries to explain that she meant just for the next hour at least he is since she's bought a training session with him. Loris leaves Ned gives Katya a look of displeasure before telling her to start running since the training session starts now. As they head off, Loris watches them from afar and she's not happy at all.
No. 26
Anne wants to know how Stingray's getting on and Janelle says he's still sore. She's making him stay in bed for the sake of any future Timminses. Anne is still reading and Janelle asks how Harry (Potter) is and Anne tells her that she can't concentrate on the reading since she keeps thinking about her and Bree, she had hoped that they could be friends. Janelle tells her to give Bree some time, but Anne comments that the two of them are never going to be as close as real sisters. Well, that might be because you lied your way into the family and stole Bree's boyfriend, Anne. Did you ever think of that?
JANELLE: All those years I missed watching you grow up... You've got the Timmins nose, you know. Sorry about that.
ANNE: Does it look bad?
JANELLE: No. Of course not. You're as pretty as the rest of us. I just hadn't realised how much of a Timmins you are before.
ANNE: The last time I saw my face I was only 10.
JANELLE: Well, let me tell you... Hot is a word that springs to mind. Just like your sister.
ANNE: Bree?
JANELLE: Um, yeah, Bree.
There's a knock on the door and when Janelle goes to open it she finds Loris there.
LORIS: Good morning.
JANELLE: Ah, might have guessed. Come to check we're not graffitting the walls, are you?
LORIS: I wouldn't have given you the house if I didn't think you could look after it.
Janelle notices Loris's suitcase.
JANELLE: Why the 'case?
LORIS: I'm moving in!
JANELLE:
Ramsay St
Loris's suitcase is being thrown into the driveway and Loris and Janelle follow.
JANELLE: I should have known... No strings attached, you said!
LORIS: I bought this house for you! You! And this is the way you thank me!
JANELLE: You seriously think that I want to wake up and see your foul scone (?) every morning?
LORIS: Well, where am I supposed to go?
Um, maybe to your big mansion?
JANELLE: You can go straight to hell and you don't need directions!
Harold and Lou walk down their driveway and see Janelle telling Loris to get out of her way and that she never ever wants to see her again. Poor little Loris look all lonely and in need of some TLC after Janelle leaves her on the driveway so Lou suggests Harold walk over to her to give her some support. And who is Harry to ignore a woman in need, so he walks over to her.
HAROLD: Is everything alright?
LORIS: Fine, thank you.
HAROLD: Arr.
LORIS: No, it's not fine. It's not fine at all, nothing has been fine since the day that woman walked into my son's life.
HAROLD: Yes, she does have her moments. Perhaps you'd like a cuddle.
LORIS: I would not! What I would like is a whip and a chair so I can go back in there and teach her a lesson! Battered (?), throwing your children's grandmother into the street!
HAROLD: Yes, she does have a strange way with people, hehe.
LORIS: You're obviously a friend of hers, I mean, the way she treats me...
HAROLD: Well, actually, when I first met her she was dubiously claiming a neck injury for some sort of compensation.
LORIS: A disgusting malingerer! She's really one to be proud of...
HAROLD: Really, I think she is, Loris. It just takes a little time to see the good in her. I promise you, it'll just turn up at the most unexpected time! Poof!
No. 24
Sky and Bree are talking about the wedding and this time Sky wants to arrive at the ceremony in one of those motorcycle sidecars. Dylan comes in just in time to hear that and is far from thrilled about that idea. Lou suggests he and Bree go over to no. 26 to have a chat with Janelle about her staying with the Bishops for a while so that Sky and Dylan can have a chat. Sky says she wants the best party ever and Dylan wants to know what she thinks about the actual ceremony part of it.
SKY: I do, I do, we kiss, we sign, we leave and we rock up to the party in style!
Hmm, not exactly what Dyl had in mind. How about having the ceremony in a church?
SKY: Yeah, right. And rock up to the party in a Pope mobile?
Actually, Dylan's serious about this and wants that special moment where they commit to each other forever since this is about him marrying the one he loves. He wants that to be the focus of the day, not the party.
Erinsborough hospital room
Carmella has come to visit her cousin Teresa who as it turns out had no interest in seeing her at all since Carmella is the reason she's in hospital in the first place. Teresa tells her to get out of the room or she'll start screaming!
Scarlet Bar
Loris is explaining the Janelle situation to Harold.
LORIS: I gave the house to her, gave it! The whole thing. I wanted to be part of the family, not just love it from the outside. I mean, what sort of a person accepts a gift like that then turns on the person giving it?
HAROLD: As I said, Janelle is the kind of person who screams before she thinks. I bet you she's at home right now realising just how badly she's behaved.
No. 26
Janelle storms into the living room from the kitchen.
JANELLE: A silly, old cow! A selfish, manipulative, old hag!
Scarlet Bar
LORIS: Maybe you're right. I'm sure deep down she knows I'm just...
No. 26
JANELLE: ...a shrivelled-up old prune that should have fallen off the twig long ago!
Scarlet Bar
LORIS: Thank you, Harold, you've made me feel a lot better!
They have a toast and a sip of their Tazzle cocktails and then things turn sour when Loris sees Ned enter the room with Katya.
Sky wants to talk to Dylan about having the wedding ceremony in a church. It's fine as long as it's not too religious. Sky says she'll cut back on the party stuff too, but Dylan says she should have whatever she wants since it should be the happiest day of their lives. It should be because of them getting married though, not because of pink ducks riding motorbikes! Sky corrects him by pointing it was actually pink swans and she and Dylan were the ones who were going to ride the motorbikes. Dylan says he's really happy about them being a family and kisses Sky and her belly. She tells him she doesn't deserve him and gives him a hug.
Erinsborough hospital room
Carmella tries to reason with her cousin explaining how Teresa was depressed and she was worried something bad might happen. Teresa points out that Carmella took her baby away from her when all she wanted was advice and help to tell her parents that she was pregnant. Instead her cousin sold her child to impress her boyfriend. Carmella tries to excuse herself by saying she prayed for Teresa and her baby every day, that's all she can do. Teresa disagrees though, she wants Carmella to steal her baby back from the new parents!
