Recap
Paul threatening Max that if Cameron dies then so does he.
Steph getting upset in front of Toadie over what Max did and that she thinks he loves Katya.
Janelle overhearing Anne talking to Bree about the fact Kim has been sending money.
Janelle demanding to be told what is happening with Kim and the money.
No. 26
Bree is trying to calm down her mum but it isn't working. Anne takes the opportunity to leave them to it and visit Rachel and Zeke but not before apologising for blabbing. Janelle shows Anne out the door having a dig at Bree at the same time. She then finds out that Kim has sent three letters and when Bree remarks that she didn't want to know about him, tries to say that there is a subtle difference.
BREE: I did it to protect you.
JANELLE: (shouting) You let me think he didn't love me.
Hospital/Garage/No. 32
Cam lies in his bed with Paul by his side. Paul picks up his son's hand and we cut to Steph wiping her hands on her overalls before cutting straight to Max taking Charlie hand prints in green paint. Back to Steph slamming a bonnet of a jeep down before going back to Paul telling Cameron that he is hoping for a miracle and wanting him to come through because the house will be empty without him and finally we're back to No. 32 and Max cuddling Charlie.
That whole sequence was done predominantly without words and just music being played in the background.
Garage
Toadie wonders why Steph is working at the garage and she explains that she is covering for Dave and that she had forgotten how good it was to be working in the garage and may even go back to it full time. Toadie says that she'll miss Charlie too much and she quietly replies that he'll be alright before Toadie asks if she is working to avoid going home to Max. She doesn't deny his suggestion and instead tells him not to lecture her or if he must then he can take her for a drink.
Hospital
Paul tearfully promises his son that he will change if he pulls through and he slowly starts to open his eyes as Katya looks in from the corridor.
No. 28
Anne tells Zeke about what happened at No. 26 and he replies that Bree should have told her mum ages ago. She is concerned that mother and daughter won't be able to work things out and Zeke reminds her that they are Timmins' and that you can't ruin their relationship because they are Teflon coated! Anne again doubts what he has said because of how Janelle reacted but he says that is just how Janelle deals with things.
ANNE: Well I don't think they were dealing with anything in there.
ZEKE: Shouting and screaming is their way of saying hello and goodbye in the morning.
ANNE: But Janelle was getting ready to kill Bree.
ZEKE: Hey, that is stage 1. Then they won't talk to each other for a day then they'll grunt hello and goodbye and then everything is cool. It's the Timmins way.
Hospital
Katya creeps into Cameron's room and Paul isn't happy because he blames her 'and her boyfriend' for putting Cameron in there. She dismisses the 'boyfriend' suggestion saying they are just friends (Paul doesn't exactly believe her) and again says that it was "an accident, a tragic accident and nothing more."
PAUL: My boy is in there fighting for his life.
KAYTA: And as his friend I'm going to see to it that he gets the best care possible.
PAUL: No. You go and tell whoever assigns out the bed pans that you are not laying a finger on my son...ever.
Scarlet Bar
Toadie accuses Steph of doing an impression of a bloke (dinking beer) before telling her to talk to Max. Steph decides she's heard enough from him and that she will go home...leaving him to pick up the tab. Katya walks in just as Steph is leaving and tries to talk to her but Steph totally blanks her. She goes over to Toadie and asks him if Steph always holds a grudge.
TOADIE: Only when her husband starts acting really weird and it's your fault.
KATYA: I didn't do anything wrong.
TOADIE: Yes you did. Max told you how things were and you kept going back to him for help.
KATYA: Well I didn't have anyone else to turn to.
TOADIE: Hello, what about me or even better the police. You really don't get it do you, how you stuff other people around.
KAYTA: Toadie.
TOADIE: No, no I'm starting to see a bit of a pattern here. The way you took Zeke and Rachel away from Susan and then gave them back to her when things got too hard and when you bunged on the green light and kissed me and instantly turned around and said no, its not you its me. But you're right, it is you, you're selfish.
KATYA: You're not my friend.
TOADIE: That's the thing, only when it suits you. I know you had a tough upbringing but I think somewhere along the line something closed down and you can only think about yourself.
KATYA: That's not true.
TOADIE: Really? So why is Steph so upset with you?
KATYA:
TOADIE: You have feelings for Max that are more then friendship. That should have been enough for you to walk away.
KATYA: I never would never have acted upon those feelings and you know it.
TOADIE: That's not the point. Max has to put Stephanie first, that is what marriage is all about and you made that impossible for him. Katya you really have to start thinking about other people because I'm telling you they are thinking about you.
No. 32
Steph arrives home and interrupts a bit of father/son bonding and he tells her that Charlie is fine but that he was expecting her home earlier, and Steph explains that she worked back late. She then announces that she'd like to go back to working properly as she enjoyed her stint at the garage today. Max has taken the news quite calmly and wonders what happened to her not wanting to miss a bit of Charlie growing up and she replies that it seemed like a good idea at the time but that it isn't practical these days and Max adds that it would be good for Charlie to mix with other kids.
Steph now joins them on the sofa and reaches over to stroke Charlie's head and isn't impressed at all to find out that he is hot and thinks that he has a temperature (in case it is the start of something serious) but Max puts it down to the heat coming off him since Charlie was lying on top of him.
No. 28
Zeke opens the door to one angry Bree Timmins and when she sees Anne, she lets rip about the amount of trouble that she landed her in. Zeke tries to stand up for her but is firmly told to keep out of it. Anne apologises for everything that has happened especially as her friendship is the most important thing to her and would hate to think that it was over because of this. Bree isn't exactly in the mood of forgiveness and tells her bluntly to stop doing things that cause her problems!
ANNE: You think I'm doing this on purpose?!
(pause)
BREE: Yeah.
ZEKE: That's a terrible thing to say.
BREE: No, no, she is. She really is. I don't know why, I just know it.
ZEKE: You've gone crazy. Lying will always get you into trouble and if you think blaming it on Anne is going to get you out of it you're wrong.
BREE: (threatening) You know what, stay away from me. If I catch you doing anything to cause me any more problems you'll regret it.
Zeke and Anne try to protest but she tells them that if they are happy together then that is fine because she's had enough. Bree then storms out and Anne tells Zeke she's never seen her like that before but he tries to justify Bree's behaviour by suggesting that Anne deliberately told Janelle about the money Kim has been sending.
ZEKE: You didn't, did you?
ANNE: ZEKE!
Anne then says that she should go, adding that he is obviously loyal to Bree and she is just causing problems for everyone... because she can't see and that people misunderstand her. Zeke doesn't dismiss that suggestion but instead tells her to give it time and that things will get back to normal with Bree and that they can still be friends too, when she wonders what will happen to them.
Hospital
Cam wakens up and Paul rushes to get someone, but Cam calls him back to tell his dad that he loves him. Paul again says that he'll get through it and they joke about having matching limps. Cam makes him promise that he has to stop lying so that he can be proud of him and confirms to Paul that he heard what he said earlier and it was that that brought him back.
PAUL: I will change son. I will. I promise. I will do it.
No. 32
Max tries to reassure Steph that Charlie will just be like Oscar when he had a raised temperature the other day - just needing some more rest to get over it and no medical treatment. Steph doesn't think so and reminds Max that Oscar is 3 before telling him that Charlie needs to see a doctor when the thermometer registers 37.5C and accuses Max of wanting to stay away from hospitals.
MAX: What are you talking about? You'd think I'd risk Charlie's health just to avoid seeing Paul?
Steph gives him a look then says Katya.
MAX: I would never take a chance with Charlie's health, you know that.
STEPH: Oh really? How would I know that? You know until the other day I thought you'd never run a man down for another woman but hey, what would I know huh?
Steph then heads out of the house to take Charlie to the hospital, telling Max that someone has to do the right thing, and he starts to head out the door too.
No. 26
Bree hands Janelle the letters that Kim has written to her, adding that the first one promised he'd be back soon, and that is why she didn't hand over the letters because Bree couldn't stand seeing Janelle get hurt again. While Janelle reads, Bree tells her mum that she moved on while to worrying about other things while she believed Kim wasn't coming back. Janelle wants to know what she did with the money and Bree lets slip about Stinger knowing about the money too, which doesn't go down well, before saying what she did spend the money on (Sky's present from Dylan). "I'd have done the same," replies Janelle but isn't impressed when Bree tells her about buying the bag saying that the bulldog clips were holding fine. Bree then says that there is still a couple of hundred dollars left plus what came in the recent letter from Kim.
Janelle starts to cry and Bree goes over and hugs her mum, saying that they all love her and is told that she is right...as usual because she'd have been a mess being strung along by Kim's promises if she'd seen them earlier.
JANELLE: He means well but he just can't follow it through.
Hospital
While Max pushes Charlie in his pram, Steph apologises to him for not listening to him, but he tells her not to worry about it. They notice Paul and he gives them a stare before walking right past them, not saying a word and while they move off, he enters Cameron's room.
Paul breaks the news to his son that he is going to be on a liquid diet for a while and Cameron replies that it sounds disgusting. "But there are all kinds of liquids," says Paul and produces a bottle of beer! Cameron tells him that he isn't sure if beer and painkillers mix or not before saying that there will be plenty of time for beers when the two of them start working together. Paul is happy surprised at the news of his son wanting to take his place 'in the empire' and starts offering suggestions Cameron can get involved in. He then decides to come clean to Cameron about Elle not being ill and that it was his idea in the first place and is stunned when Cameron tells him that he already knew about it before being told that it is in the past.
CAMERON: If you can be reborn then so can I. It's a clean slate now dad, life's too short.
No. 30
Toadie is surprised to see Steph calling by at 10.45pm (she heard his loud music) and ribs him when she finds out he has been singing away doing karaoke love songs! Toad explains to explain it off as helping him to keep his mind clear while he works on a big case and confirms that he is home alone and that he'd never sing in front of Ned. "I'm learning something new about you every day," replies Steph.
Toadie wants to know why she isn't with Max and is told that he is having an early night but he accuses her of avoiding him. She tells him that she keeps snapping at Max and feels petty for feeling this way especially as he is worried about Cameron. Toadie enquires if she's said any of this to Max and Steph replies that she can't because he keeps looking to her for support and she can't, she just goes quiet on him. He assures her that just being there is enough because it shows that she is sticking by him.
TOADIE: You are sticking by him?
STEPH: Yes, of course I am. I just feel really, really angry though.
Toadie suggests that it isn't Max she is angry at and Steph quickly jumps in to say that the next sentence better not be her being angry with herself, and he agrees and suggests that it is someone else, which Steph correctly guesses is Katya.
STEPH: You think I should go have it out with her instead of taking it out on Max?
He nods his head and says "maybe" before telling her that he knows a way they can blow off steam in the meantime - karaoke!
Ramsay Street (next day)
Anne gets out of a taxi and Zeke meets her but Janelle approaches them and asks for a work with Anne. Janelle appreciates what Anne did and that she had a long chat with Bree and things have never been closer between the two of them. This somewhat surprises Anne but Janelle doesn't want to go into details and gives Anne some advice - not to let it bug her if Bree gives her the cold shoulder treatment and to give her some space and hopefully Bree will come round and that the two of them will be back to being friends.
Zeke has gone over to talk to Toadie, looking for advice on living with Karl. Toadie tells him "not to mock with the doc's frock and to keep his hands off his mid-life crisis leather pants!" Zeke wants to know what he can do to make Karl like him and is quickly told that Karl likes him before Toadie adds that all he has to do is to accept and embrace Karl's psychosis.
ZEKE: What does that mean?
TOADIE: Ah, obsessively check that all the windows are locked. Make sure the ice cube tray is always filled. Live in the dark so you save money. Just show him that you share his insanity and you'll get on fine.
"Oookay," replies Zeke before Toadie tells him about something that could make his life at No. 28 easier and gives him directions on where to find it (in the roof somewhere) but refuses to say what it is except that it will be the end of all his teenage frustrations! Zeke like the rest of us are mightily intrigued!
No. 28
Toadie and Zeke enter the house with Zeke moaning about having to carry the huge ladder in all by himself. They are both surprised to see Katya home and Toadie explains that he is just helping Zeke and she thanks him for what he said to her as she needed to hear it.
Katya moves over to the kitchen area to do something and Bree lets herself in looking for Anne. Zeke tells her that Anne has gone home and Bree apologises for what she said to him yesterday and after he accepts it, she asks if he'd like to walk to school together. In the background Toadie shakes his head and Zeke turns her down, citing that he has things to do. Bree then enquires about the ladder and Toadie jumps in and tells her there is nothing for her to worry herself about and volunteers to driver her to school instead. They head out of the house and Zeke manoeuvres himself and the ladder through to the bedroom area.
Ramsay Street
Toadie waves to Steph as he drives off with Bree in the car just as Katya appears from No. 28. The two ladies stare at each other before Steph makes her way towards Katya.
KATYA: Steph, I just wanted to say...how sorry I am for what happened. I really didn't mean it to
STEPH: Max could go to jail and my son could miss out on spending the most important years of his life with his father.
KATYA: Well if there is anything I
STEPH: Anything you can do. Oh yes, you can go in there, pack your bags and get the hell out of here. I never want to see your face again. Right!
